Based on the 2nd order cnoidal wave theory, the characters of shallow water standing waves and their action on vertical walls are studied in this paper. The theoretical expressions of the wave surface elevation in front of and the wave pressure on the vertical wall are obtained. In order to verify the theoretical results, model tests were made in the State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering at dut. For the wave surface elevation in front of the wall and the wave forces on the wall at the moment when the wave surface at the wall surface goes down to the bottom of the wave trough, the calculated results coincide quite well with the experimental results. For the wave forces on the wall at the moment when the wave surface at the wall surface goes up to the top of the wave crest, the theoretical expressions are modified by the experimental results. For the convenience of practical use, calculations are made for the wave conditions which usually occur in enginering practice by use of the investigated results obtained in this paper. Empirical formulas are fitted with these calculated results for designers to use.

The jet flow with high water head happens very often in hydraulic engineering. In this paper, starting from the viewpoint of random hydraulics, the experimental research work on the problem of percussion action of the jet flow related to the apron *** theory and random time series are employed to analyse the sample function x(t) ,its x(t) and x(t) and their corelations μ on M. The working process of the apron during the variation of flow discharge has been observed and the machanism of failure of apron slab is discussed. The lift force due to the action of jet flow is analysed and the conditions of improving the safety factors of apron slab are presented.

Three-Dimensional Model Test for Port Engineering with Multi-Directional Waves

The promotion of urban independent innovation ability is the foundation of the innovation-oriented country. The governmental S＆T investment plays an important role in the formation of urban independent innovation ability. In this paper, we established an evaluation index system of urban independent innovation ability and the governmental S＆T investment, and preliminarily evaluate the independent innovation ability of several cities in China, and then based on the results above, we used grey relative analysis to analyze the relation between the governmental S＆T investment and urban independent innovation ability. The results indicated that the absolute index of the governmental S＆T investment is more important than the relative index, and the degree of association between S＆T investment and different level of independent innovation indexes varied significantly.

-The necessity of using irregular waves, especially multi- directional waves to conduct three-dimensional model tests for port engineering and the test method are described in this paper through an example of model test for a port. The test results show that a deep navigation channel has a large effect on the waves in front of the breakwater near the port entrance and on the wave condition in the port.

In the course of plasma spray, the plasma jet is comprehensively functioned by such effects as thermal pinch, magnetic pinch and mechanical compression and the flow is jetting at a high speed, the energy is concentrated and its center temperature is so high as to reach upwards of 15 000 ℃ which is capable of melting various kinds of materials inclusive of ceramic, it has a broad applied prospects in the fields of automobile, electronics, telecommunications, medical treatment, air navigation & space navigation and light industries etc because of being able to rapid fabricate thin-walled metals, ceramics and alloy parts thereof, metal moulds, functionally gradient material moulds and so on, and it has become a research spotlight for the scholars. The technology of plasma spray forming (PSF) is introduced, and the two different kinds of technique presented in this paper are studied. Some typical links in the course of technical process is also analyzed, including original prototype fabrication and surface treatment, post-treatment of formed workpiece and demoulding methods. When spraying, it should select the appropriate making methods of prototype according to the dimensions, shapes and forming accuracy as required by the formed parts. At the same time, it should be paid to the characteristic of the material for the prototype. The main purpose of surface treatment of the prototype is to raise the quality of formed parts and ensure the integrity demoulding of the coating. The method of the prototype’s surface treatment is closely related to the demoulding method, which is mainly comprised of destructive demoulding, non-destructive demoulding and composite demoulding, and is key technology in PSF. In order to eliminate these intrinsic defects and improve its performance, the fabricated parts can be given the necessary post-treatment so as to further raise the mechanical strength and surface quality.
