Restoration technologies of damaged paddy in hilly post-mining and subsidence-stable area of Southwest China

The paddy fields and water storage facilities are seriously damaged by the coal mine subsiding in the hilly post-mining and subsidence-stable areas in China,which make the farmers there being suffered greatly from the lack of water for traditional rice cultivation and daily *** purpose of this paper is to find a method to restore the damaged paddy fields,thereby promoting sustainable development of land resources,and alleviating the contradiction between people and land,as well as creating a more inhabitable *** research methodology included field experiments,cultivated observation,and field *** paper selected the Songzao Mining Area as the research area,and focused on the restoration technologies of damaged paddy fields,through the following four different measures at three experimental fields:(1)Traditional repeated cattle plowing(CK);(2)Water retention agent with repeated cattle plowing(W&C);(3)Film without holes under tilth depth(FO);and(4)Film with holes under tilth depth(FW).At last,a contrastive analysis of the four measures was made according to the results of the *** results show that the use of water retaining agent with repeated cattle plowing(W&C)can be the most appropriate method to restore the damaged paddy field in the hilly post-mining and subsidence-stable area in southwest *** with the other three measures,its water productivity is the maximum(0.81 kg/m3),and the net income is the highest(1403$/hm^(2)).What’s more,it is simple,short time-consuming,and low cost,which is benefit to generalize the use of this restoration technology.

A novel polypeptide named as defensin CM was isolated from Chinese mistletoe, Viscum coloratura （Kom.） Nakai. The amino acid sequence was determined by the combination of Edman degradation, endoproteinase Lys-C digestion, and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. The primary structure was ATCSAPSGRF KGACFSSNTC SNICKTLEGL KDGHCTGLAC YCSRNC.

HSP25 Affects the Proliferation and Differentiation of Rat Dental Follicle Cells

Aim To detect the expression of HSP25 in rat dental follicles both in vivo and vitro, and explore the underlying mechanism of HSP25 on the proliferation and differentiation of rat dental follicle cells （DFCs）. Methodology Immunohistochemistry was performed to detect the expression of HSP25 in mandibles of postnatal rats on days 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 in vivo. In vitro, the expression of HSP25 in DFCs was detected by an indirect immunofluorescence assay. Thiazolyl blue tetrazolium bromide （MTT） assay, flow cytometry and alkaline phosphatase （ALP） assay were used to identify the time-course effect mediated by different concentrations of recombinant murine HSP25 of 0, 1, 10, 50 and 100 ng/mL on rat DFCs. Results Expression of HSP25 was not detected in dental follicles of the rats until day 5 after birth, but became up-regulated in a time-dependent manner till day 11. HSP25 was detected in the cytoplasm of cultured rat DFCs. No significant difference could be observed in the proliferation of DFCs after stimulation with different concentrations of HSP25 on days 1, 2 and 3 （P〉0.05）. HSP25 at concentrations of 50 ng/mL and 100 ng/mL up-regulated the ALP activity of DFCs on day 9 （P〈0.05）. Conclusion HSP25-immunoreactivity increased chronologically during the development of dental follicles. The protein had no significant effect on cell proliferation but may play a role in cementoblast/osteoblast differentiation of DFCs.

We develop a solar simulator composed of multiple xenon arc lamps combined with a faceted paraboloidal dish concentrator to drive a Stirling engine in our laboratory for all-weather indoor *** and numerical analysis are performed to determine the radiation flux and temperature distributions on the solar receiver *** on the theoretical results,we present a receiver design for a solar Stirling engine with involute tubes closely conforming to the imaginary hemisphere to obtain a substantially uniform temperature field and a high solarthermal efficiency of 67.1%.

Urinary analysis reveals high Alternaria mycotoxins exposure in the general population from Beijing, China

Alternaria mycotoxins are of concern due to its adverse health effect, they affect various cereal crops and grain-based food along with modified forms that contribute to overall exposure. This study aimed to determine the frequency and level of exposure to Alternaria mycotoxins(tenuazonic acid, TeA;alternariol, AOH;alternariol monomethyl ether, AME;tentoxin, TEN;and altenuene, ALT) in human urine from Beijing adults. A total of 2212 urine samples were collected and analyzed for five mycotoxins using LC–ESI–MS/MS. More than98% of the samples had at least one Alternaria mycotoxin detected. Among the mycotoxins,AME had the highest detection rate(96.0%), followed by TeA(70.5%). The calculated average daily intake values of AME(12.5 ng/kg b.w.) was 5 times the TTC value(2.5 ng/kg b.w.) set by the EFSA, indicating the potential health risks associated with mycotoxins. Immediate attention and subsequent actions should be taken to identify the sources of mycotoxins and the corresponding exposure pathways to humans in the investigated regions.

Numerical Simulation of Bohai Oil Spill in the Winter Sea Ice Period

The Bohai Sea is a seasonal icy sea area that has the lowest latitude of any sea experiencing icing in the northern hemisphere, and simulation studies on oil spills during its sea ice period are the key to analyzing winter oil spill accidents. This study applied the three-dimensional free surface to establish a high-resolution hydrodynamic model and simulate tidal distributions in the Bohai Sea. Then, the oil spill model of the open sea area and thermodynamic model were combined to establish a numerical model for the Bohai oil spill during the winter sea ice period. The hydrodynamic model and sea ice growth and melting model were verified, and the parameters were adjusted based on the measured values, which indicate that the numerical model established in this paper is of high accuracy,stability and ubiquity. Finally, after checking the calculations repeatedly, the diffusion coefficient for the Bohai Sea was determined to be 1.0×10^(–7 )m^2/s. It is better that the comprehensive weathering attenuation coefficient is lower than that of a non-winter oil spill, with 1.3×10^(–7 )m^2/s being the most appropriate coefficient. This study can provide the reliable technical support for the operational safety and reduction in losses caused by winter oil spill accidents for the petroleum industry.

The mechanical microenvironment affects the morphology and mechanical properties of cells, and it also plays an important role in cell functions. Pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) grow as multicellular colonies, and the coupling effects of cell–cell and cell-extracellular matrix interactions are complex but necessary for the formations and functions of tissues. This paper uses the finite element method to establish a three-dimensional calculation model of a pair of deformed PSCs in contact with each other and considers the growth and depolymerization of actin filaments. Then the effects of substrate stiffness on the morphology of cells and nuclei and the rearrangement of cytoskeleton are demonstrated. As the substrate becomes softer, the nuclei become loose and round, and the actin filaments will be assembled at a lower level, which could promote the formation of compacted cell colony while having a positive effect on maintaining pluripotency and inducing reprogramming efficiency. In addition, stronger activation of cytoskeleton contractility will compress the cytoplasm and nuclei. The cell mechanics model proposed in this paper provides a strategy for studying the cell morphology and cytoskeleton response of the two-cell system under different biophysical stimuli, and also lays the foundation for the further research on more mechanical factors of cell pluripotency.
