Characteristics and Evaluation of the High-Quality Source Rocks of Cretaceous Continental Shale Oil in Tonghua Basin, China

The presence of shale oil in the Cretaceous Hengtongshan Formation in the Tonghua Basin, drilled by the well TD-01, has been discussed in this geological investigation for the first time. To evaluate the high-quality source rocks of Cretaceous continental shale oil, the distribution characteristics and the evolution of the ancient environment, samples of shale were systematically analyzed in terms of sedimentary facies, organic geochemistry, and organic carbon isotopic composition. The results demonstrate that a TOC value of 1.5% represents the lower-limit TOC value of the high-quality source rocks. Source rocks have an aggregate thickness of 211 m and contain abundant organic matter, with TOC values of 2.69% on average and a maximum value over 5.44%. The original hydrocarbon-generative potential value(S_1+S_2) is between 0.18 mg/g and 6.13 mg/g, and the Ro is between 0.97% and 1.40%. The thermal maturation of the source rocks is relatively mature to highly mature. The δ^(13)C value range is between -34.75‰ and -26.53‰. The ratio of saturated hydrocarbons to aromatic hydrocarbons is 1.55 to 5.24, with an average of 2.85, which is greater than 1.6. The organic types are mainly type Ⅱ_1, followed by type Ⅰ. The organic carbon source was C_3 plants and hydrophytes. The paleoclimate of the Hengtongshan Formation can be characterized as hot and dry to humid, and these conditions were conducive to the development of high-quality source rocks. A favorable paleoenvironment and abundant organic carbon sources provide a solid hydrocarbon generation base for the formation and accumulation of oil and gas in the shale of the Tonghua Basin.

Evolution of microstructure and texture during cold rolling and high-temperature annealing in Ni-5 at% W substrate for coated conductor

The evolution of microstructure and texture at four strain levels was investigated in Ni-5 at%W alloy by means of electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD)technique.The deformation microstructure evolves gradually from microbands(MBs)to typical lamellar structures with strain increasing in cold-rolled materials,while only lamellar structures in heavily cold-rolled materials.Subsequently,quantitative analysis of microstructure and texture was performed.It indicates that the texture is a typical pure metal deformation texture,but a few cube and rolling direction(RD)-rotated cube orientations also can be observed in the deformed samples.The use of high-temperature annealing enables an area fraction of cube orientation>95%to be obtained for high strained substrate.In addition,it is worth noting that the point-to-point misorientation inside the band with various orientations is found to keep quite low.But the point-to-origin misorientation over the same distance is dependent on strain and orientation type in the band.The cube-oriented regions were characterized by a high accumulated orientation gradient,close to 28°,compared to the non-cube-oriented regions.This means that the accumulated orientation gradient only occurs in the cube band with the reduction of 98%,which partly explains the formation of strong cube texture after high-temperature annealing.

Accumulation model and prediction of Miocene heavy oil distribution in Gulf of Suez Basin,Egypt

The Gulf of Suez Basin is a very mature and extremely prospective petroleum province. Many heavy oil fields have been found in the Basin,and such reserves are abundant. Characteristics and models of heavy oil are analyzed in this study based on tectonic,basin evolution,stratigraphic distribution and geochemical data.The best reservoirs of heavy oil are Miocene sandstone and limestone formations. Source rocks of hydrocarbon include deep limestone and shale of the Brown Limestone,the Thebes Formation and the Rudeis Formation.Thick evaporite rocks with rock salts and anhydrites deposited broadly throughout the basin are the most important regional seals,whereas Miocene shales are intraformational and regional seals that cover small areas. Heavy oil could be directly generated or densified during vertical migration along faults and reservoir accumulation.The heavy oil accumulation model is a mixed model that includes three mechanisms: fault dispersal,sulfocompound reactions and hydrocarbons generated from immature source rock. After analyzing the model and the distribution of source rocks,reservoirs,heavy oil fields and structures,it is concluded that the potential heavy oil area is at the center of the basin.

Accumulation conditions of outside source heavy oil in NepaBotuoba Sub-basin,Russia and prediction of distribution

In terms of tectonic evolution and petroleum geological conditions of the Nepa-Botuoba Sub-basin and its adjacent sub-basins,the accumulation conditions of the heavy oil were analyzed. The studied area had plenty of oil and gas accumulation,but there were no developed source rocks. It is a typical outside source accumulation,whose origins from thick high-quality source rock deposited in the adjacent sub-basins. The shallow layer has favorable heavy oil reservoir conditions and poor sealing conditions,which benefits the thickening of hydrocarbon. The multi-periods of structural compression not only uplifted the studied area drastically,but also created a series of fault zones and large-scale slope belt. The structural compression also provided channel and sufficient power for migration of hydrocarbon to shallow layers. Based on these conditions,the favorable accumulation zone of heavy oil was predicted,which provided direction for heavy oil exploration in Nepa-Botuoba Subbasin.

Pre-reduction of WO_(3)-Co_(3)O_(4)by H_(2)-C_(2)H_4 in a fluidized bed

In order to avoid the formation ofηphase(W_(6)Co_(6)C or W_(3)Co_(3)C)that adversely affects the sintering process and its products in the preparation process of ultra-fine WC-Co powder,a technical route of prereduction of WO_(3)-Co_(3)O_(4)to WO_(2)-Co and then deep reduction carbonization to WC-Co powder has been proposed.This study mainly investigates the influence of gas partial pressure on the pre-reduction process of WO_(3)-Co_(3)O_(4)under a mixed atmosphere of H_(2)-C_(2)H_(4)-Ar at 600℃and establishes the kinetic equations of pre-reduction and carbon evolution.The results indicate that increasing the partial pressure of hydrogen is conducive to the rapid and complete conversion of WO_(3) to WO_(2).High carbon content can be generated by the deposition of C_(2)H_(4),and it hinders the diffusion of the reducing gas;WO_(3)still cannot be completely reduced to WO_(2)as the partial pressure of C_(2)H_(4) increases to 60%.For the carbon evolution of C_(2)H_(4),the carbon amount is positively related to the H_(2)partial pressure,but it shows the highest amount and evolution rate when the ethylene partial pressure is 20%.Based on the reduction rate curves of WO_(3) and carbon evolution rate curves of C_(2)H_(4),the rate equations of pre-reduction and carbon evolution of WO_(3)-Co_(3)O_(4)system at 600℃are established.The pre-reduction reaction belongs to the first-order reaction,and its equation is expressed as follows:r=-(dw_(WO_(3)))/dt=(9±0.15)×10^(-2)×P_(H_(2))^(0.44)P_(C_(2)H_(4))&(0.57)The carbon deposition rate equation of C_(2)H_(4) can be expressed as follows:r=-(dc_C)/dt=r_f-r_b≌7.35×10^(-2)×P_(C_(2)H_(4))^(0.31)

Low-density polyethylene microplastics partially alleviate the ecotoxicological effects induced by cadmium exposure on the earthworm Eisenia fetida

LDPE had no effect on the mortality,growth,and reproduction of earthworms.LDPE did not alter the mortality,growth,and reproduction of earth-worm caused by Cd.LDPE alleviated histopathological damage to earthworms caused by Cd.LDPE alleviated DNA damage in earthworm coelomocytes caused by Cd.LDPE did not affect the accumulation of Cd in earthworms.Cadmium(Cd)can accumulate in the food chain,with serious impacts on human health and safety.Microplastics(MPs)such as low-density polyethylene(LDPE)should be considered not only as a single pollutant but also as a carrier of other pollutants.In this study,we investigated the joint effects of 30%LDPE and 313 mg kg-1 Cd on mortality,growth,reproduction,microstructure,DNA damage,oxidative stress,and mRNA levels in the earthworm Eisenia fetida.We found that 313 mg kg-1 Cd inhibited growth and reproduction and damaged the microstructures of the skin and intestine.Meanwhile,LDPE had no effect on the mortality,growth,or cocoon production of earthworms.Moreover,it did not increase the mortality,growth,or inhibition of cocoon production caused by Cd and instead alleviated the DNA damage in coelomocytes caused by Cd treatment.Finally,it did not alter the accumulation of Cd in the worms.These indicators can be used for toxicity safety assessment and soil ecological risk assessment of LDPE and Cd cooccurrence in soil.

Dear Editor,Persistent Mullerian duct syndrome(PMDS;Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man[OMIM]:#261550)is a rare autosomal recessive inherent difference in sex development in males with Mullerian duct derivatives,including the uterus,fallopian tubes,and upper part of the vagina.'Approximately 88%of PMDS patients were found to have biallelic variants in the anti-Mullerian hormone(AMH;OMIM:*600957)or AMH type 2 receptor(AMHR2;OMIM:*600956)genes,and the rest were referred as idiopathic.I The serum AMH levels are usually very low or undetectable in PMDS patients with AMH gene mutations but normal or elevated in those with AMHR2 gene mutations.Here,an adult Chinese patient with PMDS carrying biallelic variants of the AMH gene was reported to have unexpectedly normal serum AMH level.Please refer to Supplementary Information of Patient and Methods for methodologies.

Research on Demand Response Potential of Adjustable Loads in Demand Response Scenarios

To address the issues of limited demand response data,low generalization of demand response potential evaluation,and poor demand response effect,the article proposes a demand response potential feature extraction and prediction model based on data mining and a demand response potential assessment model for adjustable loads in demand response scenarios based on subjective and objective weight analysis.Firstly,based on the demand response process and demand response behavior,obtain demand response characteristics that characterize the process and behavior.Secondly,establish a feature extraction and prediction model based on data mining,including similar day clustering,time series decomposition,redundancy processing,and data prediction.The predicted values of each demand response feature on the response day are obtained.Thirdly,the predicted data of various characteristics on the response day are used as demand response potential evaluation indicators to represent different demand response scenarios and adjustable loads,and a demand response potential evaluation model based on subjective and objective weight allocation is established to calculate the demand response potential of different adjustable loads in different demand response scenarios.Finally,the effectiveness of the method proposed in the article is verified through examples,providing a reference for load aggregators to formulate demand response schemes.
