Current understanding of ELF4 deficiency:a novel inborn error of immunity

Background ELF4 deficiency has been recently recognized as a novel disorder within the spectrum of inborn errors of immunity(IEIs),specifically categorized as a“disease of immune dysregulation.”Cases of this condition,reported by our team and others,are very limited *** such,our current knowledge of this new disease remains *** review aims to provide a brief overview of the clinical manifestations,pathogenesis,and treatment strategies for this novel *** sources A comprehensive review was conducted after an extensive literature search in the PubMed/Medline database and websites concerning transcriptional factor ELF4 and reports concerning patients with ELF4 *** search strategy was“ELF4 OR ETS-related transcription factor Elf-4 OR EL4-like factor 4 OR myeloid Elf-1-like factor”as of the time of manuscript *** The current signature manifestations of ELF4 deficiency disorder are recurrent and prolonged oral ulcer,abdominal pain,and diarrhea in pediatric *** some cases,immunodeficiency and autoimmunity can also be *** Sanger sequencing or whole exome sequencing can be used to detect variation in ELF4 *** blotting for ELF4 expression of the patient’s cells can confirm the pathogenic effect of the *** fully confirm the pathogenicity of the variant,further functional test is strongly *** and biologics are the mainstream management of ELF4 deficiency *** Pediatric males presenting with recurring ulcerations in digestive tract epithelium with or without recurrent fever should be suspected of *** atypical presentations are prominent,variations in ELF4 gene should be carefully evaluated functionally due to the complex nature of ELF4 *** of treating DEX includes use of glucocorticoid and biologics and more precise treatment needs more patients to identify and further mechanistic study.

Distributed collaborative complete coverage path planning based on hybrid strategy

Collaborative coverage path planning(CCPP) refers to obtaining the shortest paths passing over all places except obstacles in a certain area or space. A multi-unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) collaborative CCPP algorithm is proposed for the urban rescue search or military search in outdoor *** to flexible control of small UAVs, it can be considered that all UAVs fly at the same altitude, that is, they perform search tasks on a two-dimensional plane. Based on the agents’ motion characteristics and environmental information, a mathematical model of CCPP problem is established. The minimum time for UAVs to complete the CCPP is the objective function, and complete coverage constraint, no-fly constraint, collision avoidance constraint, and communication constraint are considered. Four motion strategies and two communication strategies are designed. Then a distributed CCPP algorithm is designed based on hybrid strategies. Simulation results compared with patternbased genetic algorithm(PBGA) and random search method show that the proposed method has stronger real-time performance and better scalability and can complete the complete CCPP task more efficiently and stably.

A Galaxy Image Augmentation Method Based on Few-shot Learning and Generative Adversarial Networks

Galaxy morphology classifications based on machine learning are a typical technique to handle enormous amounts of astronomical observation data,but the key challenge is how to provide enough training data for the machine learning *** this article proposes an image data augmentation method that combines few-shot learning and generative adversarial *** Galaxy10 DECaLs data set is selected for the experiments with consistency,variance,and augmentation effects being *** popular networks,including AlexNet,VGG,and ResNet,are used as examples to study the effectiveness of different augmentation methods on galaxy morphology *** results show that the proposed method can generate galaxy images and can be used for expanding the classification model’s training *** to comparative studies,the best enhancement effect on model performance is obtained by generating a data set that is 0.5–1 time larger than the original data ***,different augmentation strategies have considerably varied effects on different types of ***-GAN achieved the best classification performance on the ResNet network for In-between Round Smooth Galaxies and Unbarred Loose Spiral Galaxies,with F1 Scores of 89.54%and 63.18%,*** comparison reveals that various data augmentation techniques have varied effects on different categories of galaxy morphology and machine learning ***,the best augmentation strategies for each galaxy category are suggested.

Numerical study on the effective thermal conductivity and thermal tortuosity of porous media with different morphologies

Effective thermal conductivity and thermal tortuosity are crucial parameters for evaluating the effectiveness of heat conduction within porous *** direct pore-scale numerical simulation method is applied to investigate the heat conduction processes inside porous structures with different *** thermal conduction performances of idealized porous structures are directly compared with real foams across a wide range of *** foam structures are reconstructed using X-ray computed tomography and image processing techniques,while Kelvin and Weaire-Phelan structures are generated through periodic unit cell *** detailed temperature fields inside the porous structures are determined by solving the heat conduction equation at the pore *** results present that the equivalent thermal conductivity of Kelvin and Weaire-Phelan structures is similar to and greater than that of the real foam structure with the same strut *** thermal tortuosity of real foam structure is relatively larger and the heat conduction path becomes straighter by adopting the anisotropic *** thermal tortuosity of the fluid channels for Kelvin,Weaire-Phelan,and real foam structures is close to *** thermal conductivity of porous structures with heat transfer fluid increases as the thermal conductivity ratio of fluid to solid becomes larger.A small porosity of porous media leads to a larger equivalent thermal conductivity due to the dominant contribution of porous skeleton in the heat conduction *** derived from parallel and series models,as well as the Maxwell-Eucken models,provide decent predictions of effective thermal conductivity,with an average error of less than 8%in the entire range of thermal conductivity ratio.

Interdecadal Change of the Relationship between Early Summer Precipitation over Northeast China and Spring Land Surface Thermal Anomalies in West Asia

Recent studies have suggested a close relationship between early summer precipitation over Northeast China and spring land surface thermal anomalies in West ***,is this relationship the same over the multidecadal timescale? This study aims to identify the long-term variation in this relationship and the accompanying atmospheric circulation anomalies by using singular value decomposition,correlation analysis,and linear regression based on the ECMWF Reanalysis v5(ERA5) atmospheric data,ERA-Land reanalysis,and CN05 gridded observations during1961–2020(60 yr).It is found that an interdecadal transition of the relationship between the spring surface temperature/thermal anomalies in West Asia and early summer precipitation over Northeast China occurred around 1990,and the temperature–rainfall relationship intensified after *** on the Mann–Kendall test,the study period was divided into P1(1961–1990) and P2(1991–2020).Further analysis indicated significant differences in the corresponding atmospheric circulation before and after the interdecadal *** P2,spring land surface warming in West Asia corresponded to a significantly enhanced early summer Circumglobal Teleconnection(CGT),which in turn suppressed the Northeast China cold vortex(NECV).The changes in circulation patterns further resulted in weakened moisture transport,strengthened subsidence,reduced precipitation triggering,and eventually,weakened ***,the results suggest that the interdecadal transition of the relationship and the changes in the corresponding atmospheric circulation may be related to activities of the westerly jet *** second principal component(PC2) mode of empirical orthogonal function(EOF) of zonal wind in June over Asia demonstrated a pattern similar to that of the atmospheric circulation corresponding to land surface thermal *** addition,during P2,the PC2 mode of the westerly jet stream in June showed a strong positive correlation

Comparison of Direct Pore-Scale and Volume-Averaging Methods for the Performance Evaluation of Porous Volumetric Solar Receiver

Direct pore-scale and volume-averaging numerical simulations are two methods for investigating the performance of porous volumetric solar *** clarify the difference in the prediction of heat transfer processes,a direct comparison between these two methods was conducted at both steady state and transient *** numerical models were established based on X-ray computed tomography scans and a local thermal non-equilibrium model,*** empirical parameters,which are indispensable to the volume-averaging simulation,were determined by Monte Carlo ray tracing and direct pore-scale numerical *** predicted outlet air temperature of the receiver by the volume-averaging simulation method corresponded satisfactorily to that in the direct pore-scale *** largest discrepancies were observed when the receiver's working temperature was elevated,with differences of 5.5%and 3.68%for the steady state and transient state simulations,***,the volume-averaging method is incapable of capturing the local temperature information of the air and porous *** underestimates the inlet temperature of the receiver,leading to an overestimation of the receiver's thermal efficiency,with the largest difference being 6.51%.The comparison results show that the volume-averaging model is a good approximation to the pore-scale model when the empirical parameters are carefully selected.

Numerical investigation on the flow and thermal behaviors of the volumetric solar receivers with different morphologies

Morphologies of the porous materials influence the processes of solar radiation transport, flow, and thermal behaviors within volumetric solar receivers. A comprehensive comparative study is conducted by applying pore scale numerical simulations on volumetric solar receivers featuring various morphologies, including Kelvin, Weaire-Phelan, and foam configurations. The idealized unit cell and X-ray computed tomography scan approaches are employed to reconstruct pore scale porous *** Carlo ray tracing and pore scale numerical simulations are implemented to elucidate the radiative, flow, and thermal behaviors of distinct receivers exposed to varying thermal boundary conditions and real irradiation situations. The findings demonstrate that the foam structure exhibits greater solar radiation absorptivity, while Kelvin and Weaire-Phelan structures enhance the penetration depth under non-perpendicular solar irradiation. In comparison with Kelvin and Weaire-Phelan configurations, the foam structure presents efficient convective heat transfer, with the Weaire-Phelan structure showing pronounced thermal non-equilibrium phenomena. The variance in convective heat transfer coefficient between Kelvin and Weaire-Phelan configurations is approximately 8.4%. The foam structure exhibits higher thermal efficiency and flow resistance under nonperpendicular irradiation compared to Kelvin and Weaire-Phelan structures, attributed to its smaller pore size and intricate flow channels. An increase of 1.3% in thermal efficiency is observed with a substantial rise in pressure drop of 32.2%.

Relative difficulty distillation for semantic segmentation

Current knowledge distillation(KD) methods primarily focus on transferring various structured knowledge and designing corresponding optimization goals to encourage the student network to imitate the output of the teacher network. However, introducing too many additional optimization objectives may lead to unstable training, such as gradient conflicts. Moreover, these methods ignored the guidelines of relative learning difficulty between the teacher and student networks. Inspired by human cognitive science, in this paper, we redefine knowledge from a new perspective — the student and teacher networks' relative difficulty of samples, and propose a pixel-level KD paradigm for semantic segmentation named relative difficulty distillation(RDD). We propose a two-stage RDD framework: teacher-full evaluated RDD(TFE-RDD) and teacher-student evaluated RDD(TSE-RDD). RDD allows the teacher network to provide effective guidance on learning focus without additional optimization goals, thus avoiding adjusting learning weights for multiple losses. Extensive experimental evaluations using a general distillation loss function on popular datasets such as Cityscapes, Cam Vid, Pascal VOC, and ADE20k demonstrate the effectiveness of RDD against state-ofthe-art KD methods. Additionally, our research showcases that RDD can integrate with existing KD methods to improve their upper performance bound. Codes are available at https://***/sunyueue/***.
