Growth and yield responses to simulated hail damage in drip-irrigated cotton

The frequent occurrence of hailstorm in Xinjiang affects cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)production and causes enormous economic loss.The indeterminate growth habit of cotton allows for varying degrees of recovery and yield when different hail damage levels occur at different stages,which brings inconvenience to agricultural insurance claims and post-damage management.Therefore,this study aimed to elucidate cotton recovery and yield responses to different levels of simulated hail damage at different growth stages.Four levels of hail damage(0,30,60,and 90%)were simulated every 15 d from the five-leaf stage to the boll opening stage in 2018 and 2019,for a total of six times(Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ,Ⅴ,and Ⅵ).The results showed that seed cotton yield decreased as the damage level increased and yield reduction increased when the damage was applied to older plants(for 30,60 and 90% damage levels,yield reduction was 9-17%,22-37% and 48-71%,respectively).One possible reason was that the leaf area index and leaf area duration of plant canopy decreased after hail damage,resulting in a reduction in the accumulation of above-ground biomass.However,when hail damage occurred before bloom,due to the indeterminate growth habit of cotton,the vegetative organs produced a strong compensation ability that promoted the bud development.The compensation ability of vegetative organs decreased when hail damage occurred after bloom and the recovery time was too short to promote new boll maturity.As the first study to understand the recovery of cotton after hail damage,it analyzed the leaf area index,leaf area duration,above-ground biomass accumulation and yield,rather than the yield alone.The findings are of great importance for cotton production as they inform decisions about post-damage management practices,yield forecasts and insurance compensation.

The Effect of Ecological Factors on the Indexes of Yield Property Equation and Quantitative Analysis

The mechanism of action of ecological factors affecting crop growth and development was complicated. In order to study the relationships between ecological factors and the indexes of yield property equation and determine the main ecological factors affecting yield, using 3-yr field experimental results for different yielding spring maize （Zea mays L.） populations and the relative meteorological observation data in Huadian of Jilin Province in China, and analyzing on the base of the yield property equation （MLAI × D × MNAR × HI = EN × GN × GW）, the main ecological factors were screened, and further mechanisms of action affecting yield were analyzed. Stepwise regression analysis showed that yield was affected mainly by effective accumulated temperature, daily mean minimum temperature, daily mean maximum temperature in July, the ratios of growth days, and the sunshine hour before and after silking. In yield property equation, four indexes of MLAI, growth days, ear number and grain number （total grain number） affected principally yield, the ecological factors affecting predominantly yield were effective accumulated temperature, daily mean temperature, daily mean minimum temperature, daily mean maximum temperature in July, the ratios of growth days, rainfall, accumulated temperature, and sunshine hours before and after silking. Combined with the two analytical methods, it could be deduced that the temperature and the allocated ratios before and after silking of ecological factors were the key factors to achieve high yield. Therefore, appropriate sowing data should be adjusted to achieve the suitable temperature indexes during the whole growth stage and the rational allocated ratios of ecological factors before and after silking.

The water-saving potential of using micro-sprinkling irrigation for winter wheat production on the North China Plain

The shortage of groundwater resources is a considerable challenge for winter wheat production on the North China Plain.Water-saving technologies and procedures are thus urgently required.To determine the water-saving potential of using micro-sprinkling irrigation(MSI)for winter wheat production,field experiments were conducted from 2012 to 2015.Compared to traditional flooding irrigation(TFI),micro-sprinkling thrice with 90 mm water(MSI1)and micro-sprinkling four times with 120 mm water(MSI2)increased the water use efficiency by 22.5 and 16.2%,respectively,while reducing evapotranspiration by 17.6 and 10.8%.Regardless of the rainfall pattern,MSI(i.e.,MSI1 or MSI2)either stabilized or significantly increased the grain yield,while reducing irrigation water volumes by 20–40%,compared to TFI.Applying the same volumes of irrigation water,MSI(i.e.,MSI3,micro-sprinkling five times with 150 mm water)increased the grain yield and water use efficiency of winter wheat by 4.6 and 11.7%,respectively,compared to TFI.Because MSI could supply irrigation water more frequently in smaller amounts each time,it reduced soil layer compaction,and may have also resulted in a soil water deficit that promoted the spread of roots into the deep soil layer,which is beneficial to photosynthetic production in the critical period.In conclusion,MSI1 or MSI2 either stabilized or significantly increased grain yield while reducing irrigation water volumes by 20–40%compared to TFI,and should provide water-saving technological support in winter wheat production for smallholders on the North China Plain.

Chronic enteropathy associated with the SLCO2A1 gene(CEAS)is a complex gastroenterological condition characterized by multiple ulcers in the small intestine with chronic bleeding and protein loss.This review explores the potential mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of CEAS,focusing on the role of SLCO2A1-encoded prostaglandin transporter OATP2A1 and its impact on prostaglandin E2(PGE2)levels.Studies have suggested that elevated PGE2 levels contribute to mucosal damage,inflammation,and disruption of the intestinal barrier.The effects of PGE2 on macrophage activation and Maxi-Cl channel functionality,as well as its interaction with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs play crucial roles in the progression of CEAS.Understanding the balance between its protective and pro-inflammatory effects and the complex interactions within the gastrointestinal tract can shed light on potential therapeutic targets for CEAS and guide the development of novel,targeted therapies.

目的探讨欧洲药学监护网络(pharmaceutical care network of Europe,PCNE)分类系统用于解决泌尿外科药物相关问题(drugrelated problems,DRPs)及进行药学监护过程中的作用。方法采用PCNE(9.1版)分类系统对某院3个典型泌尿外科患者发生的药物相关性问题(DRPs)进行药学干预分析。结果 3个病例中发生DRPs 1~3个,药物选择、剂量选择和治疗疗程是导致DRPs发生的主要原因。结论药师借助PCNE分类系统可及时、准确识别DRPs,包括已发生的及潜在的DRPs,实现精准、完整的药学监护模式。

为了探索河北省优质专用面条小麦的适宜氮肥用量。在3年定位试验的基础上,于2019—2021年采用施氮量×品种二因子裂区设计方法,施氮量为主区(氮用量分别为0、60、120、180、240和300 kg/hm^(2)),品种为副区(冀麦738和济麦22),研究了施氮量对小麦面粉品质、淀粉糊化特性以及面条性状等指标的影响。结果表明,氮肥可显著提高小麦产量、面粉及面条品质。面条总评分与面粉的蛋白质含量、湿面筋含量、沉淀指数、吸水率、稳定时间、拉伸面积、延展度均呈显著或极显著正相关,施氮量达180 kg/hm^(2)以上时,面粉大多品质指标得到改善,面团弹性较好。面条总评分与面粉糊化特性指标均呈正相关,但相关性均未达显著水平,低谷黏度、最终黏度和回升值冀麦738为施氮量120 kg/hm^(2)左右表现较优,而济麦22对氮肥不敏感,同样峰值黏度和糊化温度对氮肥也不敏感。面条总评分与面条质构指标最大拉力、拉伸面积和拉伸距离均呈显著或极显著正相关,与生熟面片的亮度L*值和黄度b*值相关性不显著,冀麦738施氮量大多在180~240 kg/hm^(2)之间、济麦22在180 kg/hm^(2)条件下面条质构指标及亮度较佳。面条总评分与面团的最大拉伸阻力呈负相关,因此中筋小麦品种济麦22更适宜做面条,而中强筋品种冀麦738面粉品质较高,但筋力过大,造成面条感官变差,评分降低。综合考虑小麦产量、面团品质、淀粉糊化特性、面条性状等指标,优质面条小麦较适宜的施氮量为180 kg/hm^(2)左右,此研究结果为河北省优质小麦高产提质提供支撑。

目的基于虚拟筛选从中药中发现高选择性靶向DDX3X抑制剂。方法基于对DDX3X蛋白解旋酶上一段独特基因序列分析,构建出选择性位点,针对该选择性位点从中药数据库中筛选出高选择性的DDX3X蛋白解旋酶抑制剂。通过分子对接、互作模式分析以及计算自由结合能的方法筛选出具有潜在抑制活力的DDX3X抑制剂,并对活性位点的构效关系进行分析。结果最终筛选得到4个化合物(ZINC4096316、ZINC33861462、ZINC67903526、ZINC85530944)可作为潜在的DDX3X蛋白解旋酶抑制剂。结论基于DDX3X蛋白解旋酶上一段独特的基序构建选择性位点并筛选选择性抑制剂,对DDX3X蛋白解旋酶强效选择性抑制剂研发具有一定的指导意义。

TSC prediction and dynamic control of BOF steelmaking with state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning methods

Mathematical(data-driven)models based on state-of-the-art(SOTA)machine learning and deep learning models and data collected from 12,786 heats were established to predict the values of temperature,sample,and carbon(TSC)test,including temperature of molten steel(TSC-Temp),carbon content(TSC-C)and phosphorus content(TSC-P),which made prepa-ration for eliminating the TSC test.To maximize the prediction accuracy of the proposed approach,various models with different inputs were implemented and compared,and the best models were applied to the production process of a Hesteel Group steelmaking plant in China in the field.The number of tabular features(hot metal information,scrap,additives,blowing practices,and preset values)was expanded,and time series(off-gas profiles and blowing practice curves)that could reflect the entire steelmaking process were introduced as inputs.First,the latest machine learning models(LightGBM,CatBoost,TabNet,and NODE)were used to make predictions with tabular features,and the best coefficient of determination R^(2)values obtained for TSC-P,TSC-C and TSC-Temp predictions were 0.435(LightGBM),0.857(Cat-Boost)and 0.678(LightGBM),respectively,which were higher than those of classic models(backpropagation and support vector machine).Then,making predictions was performed by using SOTA time series regression models(SCINet,DLinear,Informer,and MLSTM-FCN)with original time series,SOTA image regression models(NesT,CaiT,ResNeXt,and GoogLeNet)with resized time series,and the proposed Concatenate-Model and Parallel-Model with both tabular features and time series.Through optimization and comparisons,it was finally determined that the Concatenate-Model with MLSTM-FCN,SCINet and Informer as feature extractors performed the best,and its R^(2)values for predicting TSC-P,TSC-C and TSC-Temp reached 0.470,0.858 and 0.710,respectively.Its field test accuracies for TSC-P,TSC-C and TSC-Temp were 0.459,0.850 and 0.685,respectively.A related importance analysis was carried out,and dynamic control methods based on pred

Current understanding of ELF4 deficiency:a novel inborn error of immunity

Background ELF4 deficiency has been recently recognized as a novel disorder within the spectrum of inborn errors of immunity(IEIs),specifically categorized as a“disease of immune dysregulation.”Cases of this condition,reported by our team and others,are very limited worldwide.As such,our current knowledge of this new disease remains preliminary.This review aims to provide a brief overview of the clinical manifestations,pathogenesis,and treatment strategies for this novel IEI.Data sources A comprehensive review was conducted after an extensive literature search in the PubMed/Medline database and websites concerning transcriptional factor ELF4 and reports concerning patients with ELF4 deficiency.Our search strategy was“ELF4 OR ETS-related transcription factor Elf-4 OR EL4-like factor 4 OR myeloid Elf-1-like factor”as of the time of manuscript submission.Results The current signature manifestations of ELF4 deficiency disorder are recurrent and prolonged oral ulcer,abdominal pain,and diarrhea in pediatric males.In some cases,immunodeficiency and autoimmunity can also be prominent.Targeted Sanger sequencing or whole exome sequencing can be used to detect variation in ELF4 gene.Western blotting for ELF4 expression of the patient’s cells can confirm the pathogenic effect of the variant.To fully confirm the pathogenicity of the variant,further functional test is strongly advised.Glucocorticoid and biologics are the mainstream management of ELF4 deficiency disorder.Conclusions Pediatric males presenting with recurring ulcerations in digestive tract epithelium with or without recurrent fever should be suspected of DEX.When atypical presentations are prominent,variations in ELF4 gene should be carefully evaluated functionally due to the complex nature of ELF4 function.Experience of treating DEX includes use of glucocorticoid and biologics and more precise treatment needs more patients to identify and further mechanistic study.

Harmful evaluation of heavy metals from soil layer to the groundwater: Take the Jilin Hunchun Basin as an example

The continuous enrichment of heavy metals in soils has caused potential harm to groundwater.Quantitative methods to evaluate the harm of heavy metals in soil to groundwater are lacked in previous studies.Based on the theory of groundwater circulation and solid-liquid equilibrium,a simple and easy-touse flux model of soil heavy metals migrating to groundwater is constructed.Based on groundwater environmental capacity,an innovative method for evaluating the harm of heavy metals in soil to groundwater is proposed,which has been applied in Hunchun Basin,Jilin Province,China.The results show that the fluxes of soil heavy metals into groundwater in the study area are Zn,Cu,As,Pb,Cd,Ni,and Hg in descending order.The content of heavy metals in groundwater(As,Hg,Cu,Pb,Zn,Ni,and Cd)in most areas has not risen to the threshold of environmental capacity within 10 years.The harm levels of soil heavy metals to groundwater in the most townships soils are at the moderate level or below.This evaluation method can quantify the flux of soil heavy metals into groundwater simply and quickly,determine the residual capacity of groundwater to heavy metals,evaluate the harm level of soil heavy metals to groundwater,provide support for relevant departments to carry out environmental protection of soil and groundwater,and provide a reference to carry out similar studies for related scholars.
