Following votes by the Pliensbachian Working Group, the Jurassic Subcommission and the International commission on Stratigraphy, lUGS ratified the proposed Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point （GSSP） for the base of the Pliensbachian Stage （Lower Jurassic） at the base of bed 73b in the Wine Haven section, Robin Hood＇s Bay, Yorkshire coast, UK. This level contains the characteristic ammonite association Bifericeras donovani Dommergues and Meister and Apoderoceras sp. complementary data include： a） Strontium-isotope stratigraphy, based on analysis of belemnites which yield a calcite 87Sr/^86Sr ratio for the boundary level of 0. 707425 and data supporting interpretation of continuous sedimentation; b） Belemnite oxygen-isotope data indicate a significant temperature drop （-5 ℃） across the boundary at this locality; c） A Transgressive Systems Tract （TST） initiated in the Aplanaturn Subzone （uppermost Sinemurian） continues into the Lowermost Pliensbachian （Taylori Subzone）; it forms part of a transgressive facies cycle sensu Graciansky et al. （1998）; d） The Upper Sinemurian to lowermost Plensbachian at Wine Haven section has a predominantly norreal magnetic polarity, but two discrete reversed polarity magnetozones are present. The first spans much of the latest Sinemurian Aplanatum Subzone. It terminates 〈0.5m below the Sinemurian-Pliensbachian boundary and may prove a valuable chronostratigraphic marker The second extends from the latest Oxynotum Subzone probably through to the lower part of the Raricostatum Subzone.

Objective:To assess the community structure,seasonal dynamics of dinoflagellates population with environmental conditions in the nutrient-rich and polluted coastal waters off,***:Sampling sites were located from Karachi harbour(Station A)and Mouth of Manora channel(Station B).Total 180 replicate samples were collected at 1-m depth through Niskin bottle sampler(1.7 L)and fixed with 2%lugol’s preservative then examined under light inverted microscopy,scanning electron and epiflourescence ***:The environmental conditions,such as temperature[(20-27)°c],salinity[(35-40)psu],chlorophyll a[(1-103)μg/L],pH(6.03-8.13)and dissolve oxygen[(0.7-5.5)mg/L]were recorded from both stations.A total of 96 species were identified into potential harmful toxic/non-toxic bloom forming species and cysts *** dinoflagellate cells between two coastal sites were much concentrated at the adjacent area of mouth of Manora channel compare to harbor *** dinoflagellate cell concentration ranging from 20 to~55000 cells/L and the maximum values observed in two season,(~55000 cells/L)in autumn and(~3000 cells/L)in winter *** *** the predominant taxa with the maximum abundance(48166 cells/L)observed in autumn season following by Scrippsiella trochoidea(1200 cells/L),Alexandrium ostenfeldii(3000 cells/L)in winter season,and ceratium furca(640 cells/L),Protoperidinium steinii(780 cells/L),ceratium fusus(906 cells/L),Pyrophacus steinii(840 cells/L),Gonyaulax spinifera(666 cells/L),Alexandrium tamarense(520 cells/L)and Dinophysis caudata(393 cells/L)in summer and spring ***,abundance of dinoflagellates correlated significant to chlorophyll a with chlorophyll a and temperature but inverse relation to salinity and pH observed from both ***:The present study reports on the prevalence and significance of harmful algae bloom forming taxa in the area which would be available for the coastal zone managers and fishery indust

Objective: Bacterial vaginosis has been associated with hormonal factors and sexual practices; however, the cause is unclear, and the notion that bacterial vaginosis is a sexually transmitted infection is still debated. To investigate whether bacterial vaginosis is associated with specific sexual practices or instead has features in common with a sexually transmitted infection, we compared behavioral associations in women with bacterial vaginosis to women with vaginal candidiasis. Methods: Women with symptoms of abnormal vaginal discharge or odor who attended Melbourne Sexual Health centre between July 2003 and August 2004 were eligible for enrollment in the study. Information on demographics and behavioral and contraceptive practices were collected by self- completed questionnaire. Participants were tested for bacterial vaginosis, candida spp (microscopy and culture), and sexually transmitted infections. Statistical comparisons were made between women with and without bacterial vaginosis and women with and without candidiasis, using univariate and multivariate analysis. Results: A total of 342 women were enrolled in the study; 157 were diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis, 51 had candidiasis by microscopy, and 95 had candidiasis by culture. Bacterial vaginosis was associated with indicators of high- risk sexual behavior such as a new sexual partner and greater number of male partners in the last year, increased number of lifetime sexual partners, less than 13 years of education, a past history of pregnancy, and smoking (P candidiasis was not associated with these risk behaviors and was instead related to practices such as receptive anal and oral sex and douching. conclusion: The association between bacterial vaginosis and practices that are associated with sexually transmitted infections, in contrast to those observed with candidiasis, suggests a possible sexually transmitted cause.

Background Large-river decision-makers are charged with maintaining diverse ecosystem services through unprec-edented social-ecological transformations as climate change and other global stressors *** interconnected,dendritic habitats of rivers,which often demarcate jurisdictional boundaries,generate complex management ***,we explore how the Resist–Accept–Direct(RAD)framework may enhance large-river management by promoting coordinated and deliberate responses to social-ecological trajectories of *** RAD frame-work identifies the full decision space of potential management approaches,wherein managers may resist change to maintain historical conditions,accept change toward different conditions,or direct change to a specified future with novel *** the Upper Mississippi River System,managers are facing social-ecological transformations from more frequent and extreme high-water *** illustrate how RAD-informed basin-,reach-,and site-scale decisions could:(1)provide cross-spatial scale framing;(2)open the entire decision space of potential management approaches;and(3)enhance coordinated inter-jurisdictional management in response to the trajectory of the Upper Mississippi River *** The RAD framework helps identify plausible long-term trajectories in different reaches(or subbasins)of the river and how the associated social-ecological transformations could be managed by altering site-scale *** reach-scale objectives may reprioritize how,where,and when site conditions could be altered to contribute to the basin goal,given the basin’s plausible trajectories of change(e.g.,by coordinating action across sites to alter habitat connectivity,diversity,and redundancy in the river mosaic).conclusions When faced with long-term systemic transformations(e.g.,>50 years),the RAD framework helps explicitly consider whether or when the basin vision or goals may no longer be achievable,and direct options may open y

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common malignancy in children, with the majority of cases being of precursor B-cell phenoltype. conventional cytogenetic analysis plays an important role in the diagnosis of B-cell ALL, identifying characteristic chromosomal abnormalities associated with a given prognosis therein facilitating optimized treatment. The more recent introduction of microarray technology to the analysis of B-cell ALL has afforded both higher resolution for the detection of known abnormalities and an ability to identify novel copy number abnormalities (cNAs) with potential clinical relevance. In the current study, microarray analysis was performed on 20 cytogenetically abnormal B-cell ALL cases (10 pediatric and 10 adult), while a novel microarray-based balanced-translocation detection methodology (translocation cGH or tcGH) was applied to that subset of cases with a known or suspected recurrent balanced translocation. Standard microarray analysis identified that cNAs was not detected by previous conventional cytogenetics in 75% (15/20) cases. tcGH identified 9/9 (100%) balanced translocations defining BcR/ABL1 (x4), ETV6/RUNX1 (x3), and MLL/AFF1 (x2) breakpoints with high resolution. The results illustrate the improved molecular detail afforded by these technologies and a comparison of translocation breakpoints, cNAs and patient age offers new insights into tumor biology with potential prognostic significance.
