AstragalosideⅣplays a role in reducing radiation-induced liver inflammation in mice by inhibiting thioredoxin-interacting protein/nod-like receptor protein 3 signaling pathway

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the efficacy of Astragaloside IV(AS-IV)on radiation-induced liver inflammation in mice.METHODS:The mice were divided into normal group,dimethyl sulfoxide solvent group,irradiation group(IR),irradiation+AS-IV(20 mg/kg)group(IR+AS-20)and irradiation+AS-IV(40 mg/kg)group(IR+AS-40).One month after intraperitoneal injection of AS-IV,the mice were irradiated with 8Gry Co60γ,the blood was collected for biochemical analysis,and the liver was collected for hematoxylin-eosin staining,immunofluorescence and electron microscopic observation,oxidative stress,and Western blot analysis.RESULTS:The AS-IV treatment significantly ameliorated the pathological morphology of liver and reduced the alanine aminotransferase and aspertate aminotransferase levels in serum induced by radiation;AS-IV treatment also significantly reduced the expression of inflammatory factors tumor necrosis factor alpha and interleukin 6 and antagonized malonaldehyde content and superoxide dismutase activity in liver caused by radiation;in addition,AS-IV treatment can significantly inhibited the positive expression of thioredoxin-interacting protein(TXNIP)and nod-like receptor protein 3(NLRP3)inflammasome in liver tissue after radiation;The expression of TXNIP,NLRP3 inflammasome,apoptosisassociated speck-like protein containing a CARD,cysteinyl aspartate-specific proteinase 1 and interleukin 1beta in the AS-IV prevention group decreased significantly compared to the radiation group.CONCLUSIONS:These findings suggested that Co60γradiation can cause structural and functional damage to the liver,which may be related to the NLRP3 mediated inflammatory pathway;AS-IV may play a protective role by inhibiting the TXNIP/NLRP3 inflammasome signaling pathway in the radiation-induced liver injury model.

Observation of interlayer excitons in trilayer type-Ⅱ transition metal dichalcogenide heterostructures

Vertically stacked transition metal dichalcogenide(TMD)heterostructures provide an opportunity to explore optoelectronic properties within the two-dimensional limit.In such structures,spatially indirect interlayer excitons(IXs)can be generated in adjacent layers because of strong Coulomb interactions.However,due to the complexity of the multilayered heterostructure(HS),the capture and study of the IXs in trilayer type-Ⅱ HSs have so far remained elusive.Here,we present the observation of the IXs in trilayer type-Ⅱ staggered band alignment of MoS_(2)/MoSe_(2)/WSe_(2) van der Waals(vdW)HSs by photoluminescence(PL)spectroscopy.The central energy of IX is 1.33 eV,and the energy difference between the extracted double peaks is 23 meV.We confirmed the origin of IX through PL properties and calculations by the density functional theory,we also studied the dependence of the IX emission peak on laser power and temperature.Furthermore,the polarization-resolved PL spectra of HS were also investigated,and the maximum polarizability of the emission peak of WSe_(2) reached 11.40%at 6 K.Our findings offer opportunities for the study of new physical properties of excitons in TMD HSs and therefore are valuable for exploring the potential applications of TMDs in optoelectronic devices.

Van der Waals heterostructures have recently emerged,in which two distinct transitional metal dichalcogenide(TMD)monolayers are stacked vertically to generate interlayer excitons(IXs),offing new opportunites for the design of optoelectronic devices.However,the bilayer heterostructure with type-II band alignment can only produce low quantum yield.Here,we present the observation of interlayer neutral excitons and trions in the MoSe_(2)/MoS_(2)/MoSe_(2)trilayer heterostructure(Tri-HS).In comparison to the 8 K bilayer heterostructure,the addition of a MoSe_(2)layer to the Tri-HS can significantly increase the quantum yield of IXs.It is believed the two symmetrical type-II band alignments formed in the Tri-HS could effectively promote the IX radiation recombination.By analyzing the photoluminescence(PL)spectrum of the IXs at cryogenic temperature and the power dependence,the existence of the interlayer trions was confirmed.Our results provide a promising platform for the development of more efficient optoelectronic devices and the investigation of new physical properties of TMDs.

Dynamic control of moirépotential in twisted WS_(2)-WSe_(2)heterostructures

Moirésuperlattices are formed by a lattice mismatch or twist angle in two-dimensional materials,which can generate periodical moirépotentials leading to strong changes in the band structure,resulting in new quantum phenomena.However,the experimental engineering of in-situ deformation of moiréheterostructures remains deficient.Here,we demonstrate a dynamic local deformation of the twisted heterostructures using a diamond anvil cell(DAC),enabling in-situ dynamic modulation of moirépotential in twisted WS_(2)–WSe_(2)heterostructures at room temperature.Deformation of the twisted heterostructure increases the moirépotential,causing a red shift of the moiréexciton resonance,and observed the red shift of the intralayer exciton resonance up to 16.3 meV(less than 1.1 GPa).The blue shift of the interlayer excitons of twisted WS_(2)–WSe_(2)heterostructures shows an evident transition of the pressure sensitive exciton,induced by the dominant effect of modifying the band structure on optical properties.Combined with the spectral changes of pressurized Raman,which further demonstrated that the DAC can efficiently regulate the interlayer coupling.Our results offer an effective strategy for in-situ dynamic modulation of moirépotential,providing a promising platform for the development of novel quantum devices.

Anatomical and histological characteristic of the tongue and tongue mucosa linguae in the cattle-yak （Bos taurus × Bos grunniens）

This study presents the first definitive anatomical description of the tongue and lingual papillae of the cattleyak. Data on tongues from 12 healthy cattle-yaks were collected. The results show that five types of papillae were identifiable on the tongue surface of the cattle-yak. Among these, three types were mechanical papillae （filiform, conical, and lenticular）, and two types were gustatory papillae （vallate and fungiform）. Some morphological features of the cattle-yak tongue were similar to those of domestic ruminants, but the lingual prominence was higher and more developed. For example, more mechanical papillae were present and they were covered by a thicker, keratinized epithelium, the conical papillae possibly perform an immune function, the fungiform papillae have more mucus- secreting pores, and the sublingual glands were more developed. This research will provide a further and detailed source of morphological information about the cattle-yak that is currently lacking in species-specific studies on the morphology of the Bovidae family.

目的:分析移动健康管理(mHealth)干预对胸外科肿瘤术后患者疾病感知和心理状态的影响。方法:选取2021年4月-2022年5月某院胸外科行肿瘤手术患者80例为研究对象,按照入院时间将其分为对照组(2021年4月-2021年11月,n=40)和研究组(2021年12月-2022年5月,n=40),对照组采取常规干预,研究组在此基础上采用mHealth。对比两组患者干预前后疾病感知[简易版疾病感知问卷(BIPQ)]、心理状态[汉密尔顿焦虑自评量表(HAMA)和汉密尔顿抑郁自评量表(HAMD)]、生活质量[生活质量核心量表(QLQ-C30)]、治疗依从性及干预满意度。结果:干预前,两组BIPQ各维度评分比较,差异均无统计学意义;干预后,两组综合理解、情绪描绘、认知描绘评分及总分均降低(P<0.05),且研究组均低于对照组(t=6.797,7.435,4.540,3.886;P<0.05)。干预前,两组HAMA、HAMD评分比较,差异无统计学意义;干预后,两组HAMA、HAMD评分均下降(P<0.05),且研究组均低于对照组(t=20.734,10.467;P<0.05)。干预前,两组QLQ-C30各维度评分及总分比较,差异均无统计学意义;干预后,两组QLQ-C30各维度评分均升高(P<0.05),且研究组各功能维度评分及总分均高于对照组(t=12.035,17.711,9.716,2.767,5.197,5.219;P<0.05)。研究组依从性高于对照组(95.00%vs 77.50%,Z=2.242,P<0.05);研究组干预满意度为92.50%,明显高于对照组的72.50%(Z=3.107,P<0.05)。结论:mHealth有利于减轻胸外科肿瘤术后患者疾病感知与负性情绪,恢复其心理健康,提高治疗依从性与生活质量,提升满意度。

Nestedness of snake assemblages on islands of an inundated lake

Abstract Nestedness is a pattern frequently reported for faunal assemblages in fragmented systems. Although nestedness has been documented for a wide range of taxa, it is rarely tested in snake assemblages. To arrive at robust generalizations about processes and mechanisms structuring island biotas, it is important to examine under-represented taxa such as snakes for the insights they may offer. We tested for the existence of nestedness and underlying causal mechanisms using snake data collected on islands in the Thousand Island Lake, China. We used the line-transect method to survey snake occupancy and abundance on 20 islands during two breeding seasons in 2009 and 2010. We used the recently developed metric WNODF to estimate nestedness. We used Spearman rank correlations to examine the associations of nestedness and habitat variables (area, isolation, and habitat diversity) as well as life-history traits (body size, clutch size, geographical range size and area requirement) related to species extinction and immigration tendencies. Snake assemblages were significantly nested and were shaped by extinction processes mediated through area effects and habitat nestedness. The nestedness of snake assemblages was not due to passive sampling or selective colonization. From a conservation viewpoint, our results indicate that we should protect both the largest island with the most species-rich community and habitat-rich islands to maximize the number of species preserved .

The small-island effect in amphibian assemblages on subtropical land-bridge islands of an inundated lake

The small-island effect (SIE) has become more and more part of the theoretical framework of island biogeography and biodiversity research. However, previous methods for the detection of SIEs are often flawed in one way or another, including not accounting for model complexity, not comparing all relevant models, and not including islands with no species. Therefore, the existence and the prevalence of the SIE may be dubious. In this study, after controlling for all these methodological shortcomings, we tested for the existence of the SIE in amphibian assemblages on subtropical land-bridge islands created by the inundation of the Thousand Island Lake, China. We used the line transect method to determine the distribution of amphibian assemblages on 23 study islands during 3 breeding seasons from 2009 to 2011. To evaluate whether an SIE exists in amphibian assemblages, we compared the fit of a simple linearized power model with two most widely used breakpoint regression models. The information-theoretic multimodel inference approach based on Akaike's information criterion identified the left-horizontal SIE model as the best single model. Thus, we found strong evidence for the existence of an SIE in our system. The upper limit of the SIE for amphibian assemblages was 39.95 ha. Below this threshold area, amphibian richness varied independently of island size. The SIE in amphibian assemblages may be due to episodic disturbances, stochastic events, and nutrient subsidies from the lake. Our results indicate that all the islands >39.95 ha should be protected for the effective conservation of amphibian assemblages in our system.

Recently,the discovery of a variety of moiré-related properties in the twisted vertical stacking of two different monolayers has attracted considerable attention.The introduction of small twist angles in transition metal dichalcogenide(TMD)heterostructures leads to the emergence of moirépotentials,which provide a fascinating platform for the study of strong interactions of electrons.While there has been extensive research on moiréexcitons in twisted bilayer superlattices,the capture and study of moiréexcitons in homostructure superlattices with layer-coupling effects remain elusive.Here,we present the observation of moiréexcitons in the twisted 1L-WSe_(2)/1L-WSe_(2)and 1L-WSe_(2)/2L-WSe_(2)homostructures with various layer-coupling interactions.The results reveal that the moirépotential increases(~260%)as the number of underlying layers decreases,indicating the effect of layer coupling on the modulation of the moirépotential.The effects of the temperature and laser power dependence as well as valley polarization on moiréexcitons were further demonstrated,and the crucial spectral features observed were explained.Our findings pave the way for exploring quantum phenomena and related applications of quantum information.

Trends of SARS-CoV-2 Infection in Sentinel Community-Based Surveillance After the Optimization of Prevention and Control Measures—China,December 2022-January 2023

Introduction:On December 7,2022,China implemented the“Ten New Measures”to optimize its prevention and control measures for coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).To provide the latest data after the optimization,we evaluated trends of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection among the community population in China.Methods:We utilized data from the National Sentinel Community-Based Surveillance(NSCS)system in China to assess trends of SARS-CoV-2 infection.NSCS is a national community-based surveillance cohort with 0.42 million participants from all 31 provincial-level administrative divisions(PLADs)and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps(XPCC).Participants were tested for infection twice a week(a total of eight rounds)from December 16,2022 to January 12,2023.SARS-CoV-2 infection was defined as testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid or antigen.We calculated the daily average of newly positive rates of SARS-CoV-2 infection.Results:In this national cohort,the daily average newly positive rate of SARS-CoV-2 infection decreased from 4.13% in Round 1(December 16-19,2022)to 0.69% in Round 8(January 10-12,2023).The epidemic peak occurred in Round 2(December 20-22,2022).Similar trends were observed in urban areas(decreasing from 4.65% to 0.73%),rural areas(decreasing from 2.83% to 0.57%),the eastern region(decreasing from 4.18% to 0.67%),the central region(decreasing from 5.43% to 0.61%),and the western region(decreasing from 3.01%to 0.77%).Conclusions:NSCS data showed that the peak of SARS-CoV-2 infection in China had passed.SARSCoV-2 infection in community populations in China is currently at a low epidemic level.
