Reconciled estimation of Antarctic ice sheet mass balance and contribution to global sea level change from 1996 to 2021

The Antarctic Ice Sheet（AIS） has been losing ice mass and contributing to global sea level rise（GSlR）. Given its mass that is enough to cause ～58 m of GSlR, accurate estimation of mass balance trend is critical for AIS mass loss monitoring and sea level rise forecasting. Here, we present an improved approach to reconciled solutions of mass balance in AIS and its regions from multiple contributing solutions using the input-out, altimetric, and gravimetric methods. In comparison to previous methods, such as IMBIE 2.18, this approach utilizes an adaptive data aggregation window to handle the heterogeneity of the contributing solutions, including the number of solutions, temporal distributions, uncertainties, and estimation techniques. We improved the regression-based method by using a two-step procedure that establishes ensembled solutions within each method（input-output, altimetry, or gravimetry） and then estimates the method-independent reconciled solutions. For the first time, 16contributing solutions from 8 Chinese institutions are used to estimate the reconciled mass balance of AIS and its regions from1996 to 2021. Our results show that AIS has lost a total ice mass of ～3213±253 Gt during the period, an equivalent of～8.9±0.7 mm of GSlR. There is a sustained mass loss acceleration since 2006, from 88.1±3.6 Gt yr-1during 1996–2005 to 130.7 ±8.4 Gt yr-1during 2006–2.13 and further to 157.0±9.0 Gt yr-1during 2.14–2021. The mass loss signal in the West Antarctica and Antarctic Peninsula is dominant and clearly presented in the reconciled estimation and contributing solutions, regardless of estimation methods used and fluctuation of surface mass balance. Uncertainty and challenges remain in mass balance estimation in East Antarctica. This reconciled estimation approach can be extended and applied for improved mass balance estimation in the Greenland Ice Sheet and mountain glacier regions.

Characteristics of chemical components in PM2.5 at a plateau city, South-west china

A sampling campaign including summer, autumn and winter of 2.14 and spring of 2.15 was accomplished to obtain the characteristic of chemical components in PM2.5 at three sites ofkunming, a plateau city in South-west china. Nine kinds of water-soluble inorganic ions （WSI）, organic and element carbon （OC and EC） in PM2.5 were analyzed by ion chromatography and thermal optical reflectance method, respectively. Results showed that the average concentrations of total WSI, OC and EC were 22.85±10.95 μg.m -3, 17.83±9.57 μg.m-3 and 5.114-4.29 μg.m-3, respectively. They totally accounted for 53.0% of PM2.5. Secondary organic and inorganic aerosols （SOA and SIA） were also assessed by the minimum ratio of OC/EC, nitrogen and sulfur oxidation ratios. The annual average concentrations of SOA and SIA totally accounted for 28.3% of the PM2.5 concentration. The low proportion suggested the primary emission was the main source of PM2.5 in kunming. However, secondary pollution in the plateau city should also not be ignorable, due to the appropriate temperature and strong solar radiation, which can promote the atmospheric photochemical reactions.

landscape design for a green community should be favorable for the ambient ecological environment and for enhancement of both the local climate of a residential area and the environmental quality of life. This paper presents optimization methods for plant landscape design that take account of results of comparisons of noise reduction effects, heat island temperature decreases and effects on ventilation. These methods are based on different plant configurations and various luminous environments, such as exterior sunshine and shaded areas after the simulation of exterior luminous, acoustic and thermal environments of a residential area using the analytic software ECOTECT, CADNA/A, and PHEONICS. Three different types of residential buildings are simulated including a faculty apartment in the xixi Campus of Zhejiang university, the Huaqing Villa and the Gangwan Jiayuan faculty apartment of Zhejiang university, china, based on green building design theory. In addition, the methods and process flow of landscape design of green residential areas are also described for the improvement of the exterior physical living environment.

The real-time accurate description of all spatial features of railway and their spatiotemporal relationships is a crucial factor in realizing comprehensive management and related decision-making within the entire life cycle of ***,available spatiotemporal data models mainly use static historical sequence data,which are insufficient to support multi-source heterogeneous real-time sensed data;they lack a systematic depiction of the interactive relationships among multiple feature entities,and are limited to low-level descriptive ***,this study proposes a data-model-knowledge integrated representation data model for a digital twin railway,which explicitly describes the spatiotemporal,and interaction relationships among railway features through a conceptual knowledge *** study first analyzes the characteristics of railway features from above ground to underground,and then constructs a conceptual model to clearly describe the complex relationships among railway ***,a logical model is developed to illustrate the basic data ***,an ontology model is constructed as a basic framework for further deepening the domain knowledge ***,considering the prevention of landslides as an example,it demonstrates the abundant spatiotemporal relationships among railway related *** results of this study bring more clear understanding of the complex interactive relationships of railway entities.

Original ecotourism resources mainly refer to natural and human original ecotourism resources, and it＇s of fragility, rarity and irreversibility. As a valuable historic heritage and hnportant tourism resources, it plays a significant role in developing tourism and economy in such areas as the underdeveloped areas, the mountain areas and mimority areas. The tourism resources in the western mountain areas of Guangxi owe ,superiorities and characteristics ＇o their original ecology, Yet, western Guangxi is an ethnic region with fragile karst eco-environment, so it is specialto exploit the tourism resources. The paper defines original eeotourism and analyses the specialties and advantages of the original ecotourism resources as well as thefrailty of the ecotourism resources of the region. The ways of thinking are put forward for safe preservation and sustainable development of the original ecotourism resources, i.e. carrying out measures for the multi-grade protection of heritage resources, setting up a ethnic eco-museum/ ethnic culture eco-park and a gene pool of ethnic cultures, etc.

The divergence and continuous evolution of plants and animals contribute to ecological *** and transcription factors(TFs) are key determinants of gene regulation and transcription ***,theevolutionary trajectories and relationships of promoters and TFs are still poorly understood. Here, we conducted extensive analysis of large-scale multi-omics sequences in 420 animal species and 223 plant species spanning nearly a billion years of evolutionary history. Results showed that promoter GC-contentandTFisoelectricpoints,as features/signatures that accompany long biological evolution, exhibited increasing growth in animal cells but a decreasing trend in plant cells. Furthermore, the evolutionary trajectories of promoter and TF signatures in the animal kingdom provided further evidence that Mammalia as well as Aves evolved directly from the ancestor Reptilia. The strong correlation between promoter and TF signatures indicates that promoters and TFs formed antagonistic coevolution in the animal kingdom, but mutualistic coevolution in the plant kingdom. The distinct coevolutionary patterns potentially drive the plant-animal divergence, divergent evolution and ecological diversity.
