A feasibility assay is conducted for electromyography measure in sternocleidomastoid and platysma, tenting to use it on Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) feedback. It is proposed a case of study for four healthy subjects with an average of 35 years old, two females and two males. Methodology proposed includes signal acquisition and processing with feature extraction of RMS, Mean and Variance. The data are acquired with the AD board NI USB-6009, interfaced with LabView and processed in MatLab. An uncertainty analysis was made obtaining a system uncertainty of ±2.31 mV. ANOVA analysis was done, with a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) experiment and interaction of factors and residues obtained with the software Minitab.

Single particle characterization can provide information on the evolution of size distribution and chemical composition of pollution aerosol. The work described the use of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) combined with X-ray Dispersive Energy Spectrometry (EDS) to characterize inorganic atmospheric particles samples collected on PM10 filters from January 2013 to October 2013 from three zones within the city of Hermosillo, Sonora. Specimens were initially processed by separating the collected particles from the filters by means of submersing a 2 cm2 section of each filter into isopropilic alcohol within a test tube for 5 minutes. Then, an aliquot of the suspension was placed over a sample holder and into the SEM. The different elements found amongst individual particles were Al, Ba, Ca, Cl, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Pb, S, Si, Ti and U. The predominant elements are Al (17.10 At%), Si (10.17 At%), Ba (5.90 At%), Fe (5.45 At%) and U (2.32 At%). The particles were classified into groups based on morphology and elemental composition: particles of aluminosilicate, salts of sodium chloride, sulfates, metal particles, barium and uranium. These particles morphology and chemical composition, illustrate an abundance of natural elements within the zone. However, some of the elements presented are directly related with human activities, and are of much interest from the public health and environmental perspectives.

BACKGROUND Identification of germ-line mutations in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC) could impact on patient/*** To assess the referral pathways for genetic consultations in *** Electronic records of PDAC patients were reviewed retrospectively. Patients eligible for genetic consultation referral were identified following the European Registry of Hereditary Pancreatitis and Familial Pancreatic Cancer(EUROPAC)*** Four-hundred patients were eligible. Of 113 patients(28.3%) meeting EUROPAC criteria, 8.8% were referred for genetic opinion. Germ-line mutations were identified in 0.75% of the whole *** referrals and increased awareness may be able to overcome the low rate of successful genetic appointments.

This paper presents a model to estimate the values of natural lighting that can be registered in interior spaces with lightpipes, as well as the savings percentage that may be obtained by using this technology. The lighting data obtained with anexperimental scale prototype of a teaching space at the University of Cordoba, where light pipes have been introduced, together withthe irradiance data registered in the radiometric station of the Applied Physics Department （University of Cordoba）, have allowed thedevelopment of a regression model to estimate the levels of natural lighting from sun elevation and global and diffuse solar irradianceThe phenomenon behaviour has been simulated for a year with this model, which has resulted in large time intervals with naturallighting levels above the minimum threshold recommended for teaching spaces.

Temperature effect on the nucleation and growth mechanisms (NGM) of poly(thiophene) (PTh) was investigated through experimental and computational tools. The computational simulation method was based on a kinetic Monte Carlo algorithm. It reproduced key processes such as diffusion, oligomerization, and the precipitation of oligomers onto the electrode surface. Electrochemical synthesis conditions at temperatures between 263 and 303 K were optimized. The deconvolution of the i-t transients reflected two contributions: a progressive nucleation with three-dimensional growth controlled by diffusion and the other by charge transfer, PN3Ddif and PN3Dct, respectively. As temperature decreased, a diminution of the charge associated to each contribution was observed and the nucleation induction time increased. Experimental and computational evidence indicated that temperature does not change the nucleation and growth mechanism (NGM). This effect was ascribed to kinetic factors rather than to film conductivity. This work contrasts simulation and experimental evidence and demonstrates how computational simulations can help to understand the electrochemical process of conducting polymers formation.

The Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel (CMH) test, developed in the 1950s, is a classic in health research, especially in epidemiology and other fields in which dichotomous and polytomous variables are frequent. This nonparametric test makes it possible to measure and check the effect of an antecedent variable X on a health outcome Y, statistically controlling the effect of a third variable Z that acts as a confounding variable in the relationship between X and Y. Both X and Y are measured on a dichotomous qualitative scale and Z on a polytomous-qualitative or ordinal scale. It is assumed that the effect of X on Y is homogeneous between the k strata of Z, which is usually tested by the Breslow-Day test with the Tarone’s correction or the Woolf’s test. The main statistical programs have the CMH test together with a test to verify the assumption of a homogeneous effect across the strata, so that it is easy to apply. However, its fundamentals and details of calculations are a mystery to most researchers, and even difficult to find or understand. The aim of this article is to present these details in a clear and concise way, including the assumptions and alternatives to non-compliance. This technical knowledge is applied to a simulated realistic example of the area of epidemiology in health and, finally, an interpretive synthesis of the analyses is given. In addition, some suggestions for the test report are made.

We apply a two pronged approach to analyze the presence of Environmental Kuznets Curve, EKC, in three types of emissions in the People’s Republic of China from 1994 to 2014: a structural breakpoint analysis and a model based test. We apply it to PM2.5, industrial waste and domestic water pollution time series, and find evidence of EKC in all three types of emissions that require appropriate policy.
