Background:Complex noise and its relation to hearing loss are difficult to measure and *** complex noise measurement,individual exposure results may not accurately represent lifetime noise ***,the mean LAeq,8 h values of individuals in the same workgroup were also used to represent LAeq,8h in our *** study aimed to explore whether the mean exposure levels of workers in the same workgroup represented real noise exposure better than individual exposure levels ***:A cross-sectional study was conducted to establish a model for cumulative noise exposure (CNE) and hearing loss in 205 occupational noise-exposed workers who were recruited from two large automobile manufacturers in *** used a personal noise dosimeter and a questionnaire to determine the workers' occupational noise exposure levels and exposure times,respectively.A qualified audiologist used standardized audiometric procedures to assess hearing acuity after at least 16 h of noise ***:We observed that 88.3％ of workers were exposed to more than 85 dB(A) of occupational noise (mean:89.3 ± 4.2 dB(A)).The personal CNE (CNEp) and workgroup CNE (CNEg) were 100.5 ± 4.7 dB(A) and 100.5 ± 2.9 dB(A),*** the binary logistic regression analysis,we established a regression model with high-frequency hearing loss as the dependent variable and CNE as the independent *** Wald value was 5.014 with CNEp as the independent variable and 8.653 with CNEg as the independent ***,we found that the figure for CNEg was more similar to the stationary noise reference than CNEp *** CNEg model was better than the CNEp *** this circumstance,we can measure some subjects instead of the whole workgroup and save ***:In a complex noise environment,the measurements of average noise exposure level of the workgroup can improve the accuracy and save manpower.

＜正＞ ACP- 103 is a potent and selective 5 - HT2A receptor inverse agonist,with nanomolar potency at 5 - HT2A receptors and 7-50 fold lower potency at 5 -HT2C receptors in a variety of in vitro assays. ACP - 103 lacks significant activity at D2 and over 50 other human receptors at concentrations up to 10 uM. In mice. ACP - 103 was a potent inhibitor of head - twitch behaviors induced by 5 - HT2 agonist DOI, and enhanced haloperidol - or risperidone - mediated decreases in dizocilpine - or amphetamine - induced hyperactivity. ACP - 103 also reduced haloperidol - or risperidone - induced catalepsy and hyperprolactinemia in rats. The ability of ACP - 103 to reduce neuroleptic - induced side effects in animals was extended into the clinic. Initial clinical studies indicate that ACP - 103 was generally safe and well tolerated,had a long plasma half - life,and occupied 5 -HT2A receptors in human brain after oral administration. Moreover. ACP- 103 administration reduced haloperidol - induced hyperprolactinemia in healthy volunteers,and haloperidol - induced akathisia in both healthy volunteers and schizophrenic subjects. Based on these observations. ACP - 103 may have potential as an adjunctive therapy in schizophrenia with a wide therapeutic index.

Surgeon preferences in the treatment of thumb carpometacarpal osteoarthritis

BACKGROUND Primary thumb carpometacarpal(CMC)osteoarthritis is one of the most common conditions encountered by hand *** the vast number of operations that have been proposed,none have demonstrated results significantly superior to trapeziectomy *** The purpose of our study was to determine why surgeons opt for their technique in treating CMC *** A cross-sectional survey of active members of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand was conducted to evaluate the reasons behind their preferred technique in the treatment of isolated thumb CMC *** were contacted by email once and provided with a link to a de-identified survey consisting of 5 treatment questions and 5 demographic *** Of 950 responses were received.40.5%of surgeons preferred trapeziectomy+ligament reconstruction tendon interposition(LRTI),followed by trapeziectomy+suspensionplasty(28.2%),suture button suspension(5.9%),trapeziectomy alone(4.6%),prosthetic arthroplasty(3.2%),arthrodesis(1.1%),and other(6.6%).Proponents of trapeziectomy+LRTI cited familiarity(73.2%),exposure during fellowship(48.8%)and less proximal migration(60%)to be the main reasons affecting their *** who preferred trapeziectomy+suspensionplasty most reported simplicity(74.9%),fewer complications(45.3%),less proximal migration(43.8%),and avoidance of autogenous tissue harvest(42.7%).Advocates of suture button suspension cited avoidance of autogenous tissue harvest(80.4%),shorter immobilization(76.8%),and quicker recovery(73.2%)with their *** of trapeziectomy alone cited simplicity(97.7%),fewer complications(86.4%),and avoidance of autogenous tissue harvest(59.1%).In their comments,45%of surgeons choosing trapeziectomy alone cited evidence as an additional *** of prosthetic arthroplasty cited improved pinch strength(83.3%)and improved range of motion(63.3%),while those preferring arthrodesis cited better pinch strength(90%)and freque

Host plant selection of Chrysolina clathrata （Coleoptera： Chrysomelidae） from Mpumalanga, South Africa

Hyperaccumulated elements such as Ni may defend plants against some natural enemies whereas other enemies may circumvent this defense. The Ni hyperaccumulator Berkheya coddii Roessler （Asteraceae） is a host plant species for Chrysolina clathrata （Clark）, which suffers no apparent harm by consuming its leaf tissue. Beetle specimens collected from B. coddii had a whole body Ni concentration of 260μg/g dry weight, despite consuming leaf material containing 15 100μg Ni/g. Two experiments were conducted with adults of this beetle species： a no-choice experiment and a choice experiment. In the nochoice experiment we offered beetles foliage of one of four speeies ofBerkheya： B. coddii, B. rehmannii Thell. var. rogersiana Thell., B. echinacea （Harv.） O. Hoffm. ex Burtt Davey, and B. insignis （Harv.） Thell. The two former species are Ni hyperaccumulators （defined as having leafNi concentration 〉 1 000 μg/g） whereas the latter have low Ni levels （〈 200 μg/g） in their leaves. Masses of beetles were monitored for 6 days. Choice experiments used growing stem tips from the same Berkheya species, placed into Petri dishes with five Chrysolina beetles in each, and the amount of feeding damage caused on each of the four species was recorded. Beetles in the no-choice experiment gained mass when offered B. coddii, maintained mass on leaves of the other Ni hyperaccumulator （B. rehmannii var. rogersiana）, and lost mass when offered non-hyperaccumulator leaves. In the choice test, beetles strongly preferred B. coddii to other Berkheya species. We conclude that C. clathrata may be host-specific on B. coddii.

Host-herbivore studies of Stenoscepa sp. （Orthoptera：Pyrgomorphidae）, a high-Ni herbivore of the South African Ni hyperaccumulator Berkheya coddii （Asteraceae）

Nymphs of Stenoscepa sp. feed on leaves of the Ni hyperaccumulator Berkheya coddii at serpentine sites in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. These sites contain Ni hyperaccumulators, Ni accumulators, and plants with Ni concentrations in the normal range. We conducted studies to：（i） determine the whole-body metal concentration of nymphs （including those starved to empty their guts）; （ii） compare Stenoscepa sp. nymphs against other grasshoppers in the same habitat for whole-body metal concentrations; and （iii）compare the suitability of Ni hyperaccumulator and Ni accumulator plants as food sources for Stenoscepa sp. and other grasshoppers. Stenoscepa nymphs had extremely high whole-body Ni concentrations （3 500μg Ni/g）. This was partly due to food in the gut, as starved insects contained less Ni （950 pg Ni/g）. Stenoscepa nymphs survived significantly better than other grasshoppers collected from either a serpentine or a non-serpentine site when offered high-Ni plants as food. In a host preference test among four Berkheya species （two Ni hyperaccumulators and two Ni accumulators）, Stenoscepa sp, preferred leaves of the Ni hyperaccumulator species. A preference experiment using leaves of three Senecio species （of which one species, Senecio coronatus, was represented by both a Ni hyperaccumulator and a Ni accumulator population） showed that Stenoscepa sp. preferred Ni accumulator Senecio coronatus leaves to all other choices. We conclude that Stenoscepa sp. is extremely Ni-tolerant. Stenoscepa sp. nymphs prefer leaves of hyperaccumulator Berkheya species, but elevated Ni concentration alone does not determine their food preference. We suggest that the extremely high whole-body Ni concentration of Stenoscepa nymphs may affect food web relationships in these serpentine communities.
