Early identification of stroke through deep learning with multi-modal human speech and movement data

Early identification and treatment of stroke can greatly improve patient outcomes and quality of *** clinical tests such as the Cincinnati Pre-hospital Stroke Scale(CPSS)and the Face Arm Speech Test(FAST)are commonly used for stroke screening,accurate administration is dependent on specialized *** this study,we proposed a novel multimodal deep learning approach,based on the FAST,for assessing suspected stroke patients exhibiting symptoms such as limb weakness,facial paresis,and speech disorders in acute *** collected a dataset comprising videos and audio recordings of emergency room patients performing designated limb movements,facial expressions,and speech tests based on the *** compared the constructed deep learning model,which was designed to process multi-modal datasets,with six prior models that achieved good action classification performance,including the I3D,SlowFast,X3D,TPN,TimeSformer,and *** found that the findings of our deep learning model had a higher clinical value compared with the other ***,the multi-modal model outperformed its single-module variants,highlighting the benefit of utilizing multiple types of patient data,such as action videos and speech *** results indicate that a multi-modal deep learning model combined with the FAST could greatly improve the accuracy and sensitivity of early stroke identification of stroke,thus providing a practical and powerful tool for assessing stroke patients in an emergency clinical setting.

Non-metallic nanocarbon materials catalyzed coupling reactions of primary amines to produce imine is an efficient,green and sustainable synthetic route,which has a wide application prospect in fine chemicals or pharmaceutical *** the present study,we show firstly the relatively high catalytic activity of graphene oxide in the reaction of oxidative coupling of benzylamine(OCB),which is even comparable with typical metal-based catalysts,indicating the great potential of nanocarbon materials in this reaction *** importantly,a novel twophoton fluorescence probe molecule(N-propyl-4-hydrazinyl-1,8-naphthalimide,NA)with special chemical structure of hydrazine functionality was *** probe NA could selectively react with aldehyde or ketone compounds,leading to the photoluminescence enhancement via inhibition of photo induced electron transfer(PET)*** synthesized NA was applied as probe in carbon catalyzed OCB system to predict the existence of reaction intermediate benzaldehyde(BA),indicating the reaction pathway of oxidation-deamination-condensation in nanocarbon catalyzed OCB *** proposed luminescence-probe strategy for revealing the kinetics and mechanism may also shed light in other reaction systems concerning the intermediates or products of ketones or aldehydes.

Item-level Forecasting for E-commerce Demand with High-dimensional Data Using a Two-stage Feature Selection Algorithm

With the rapid development of information technology and fast growth of Internet users,e-commerce nowadays is facing complex business environment and accumulating large-volume and highdimensional *** brings two challenges for demand ***,e-merchants need to find appropriate approaches to leverage the large amount of data and extract forecast features to capture various factors affecting the ***,they need to efficiently identify the most important features to improve the forecast accuracy and better understand the key drivers for demand *** solve these challenges,this study conducts a multi-dimensional feature engineering by constructing five feature categories including historical demand,price,page view,reviews,and competition for e-commerce demand forecasting on *** then propose a two-stage random forest-based feature selection algorithm to effectively identify the important features from the high-dimensional feature set and avoid *** test our proposed algorithm with a large-scale dataset from the largest e-commerce platform in *** numerical results from 21,111 items and 109 million sales observations show that our proposed random forest-based forecasting framework with a two-stage feature selection algorithm delivers 11.58%,5.81%and 3.68%forecast accuracy improvement,compared with the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average(ARIMA),Random Forecast,and Random Forecast with one-stage feature selection approach,respectively,which are widely used in literature and *** study provides a useful tool for the practitioners to forecast demands and sheds lights on the B2C e-commerce operations management.

Characteristics of the Outer Rainband Stratiform Sector in Numerically Simulated Tropical Cyclones:Lower-Layer Shear versus Upper-Layer Shear

Idealized numerical simulations are conducted in this study to comparatively investigate the characteristics of the stratiform sector in the outer rainbands of tropical cyclones(TCs)in lower-and upper-layer vertical wind shear(VWS)with moderate *** with the results in previous studies,the outer rainband stratiform sector of the TCs simulated in both experiments is generally located downshear ***-layer VWS tends to produce stronger asymmetric outflow at upper levels in the downshear-left quadrant than lower-layer *** stronger asymmetric outflow transports more water vapor radially outward from the inner core to the outer core at upper levels in the downshear-left quadrant in the upper-layer shear *** depositional growth of both graupel and cloud ice thus occurs downshear left in upper layers in the outer core,yielding more diabatic heating and stronger upward motions,particularly in the stratiformdominated part of the stratiform sector in the upper-layer shear ***,a better-organized stratiform sector in the outer rainbands is found in the upper-layer VWS experiment than in the lower-layer VWS *** diabatic heating associated with the stratiform sector produces strong midlevel outflow on the radially inward side of,and weak midlevel inflow on the radially outward side of,the heating core,with lower-level inflow beneath the midlevel outflow and upper-level inflow *** upper-layer VWS tends to produce a deeper asymmetric inflow layer in the outer rainband stratiform sector,with more significant lower-level inflow and tangential jets in the upper-layer VWS experiment.

Dramatical enhancement of circular dichroism in chiral hybrid perovskites via carboxylic hydrogen bond engineering

Chiral hybrid perovskites （CHPs） have been regarded as promising candidates for developing chiroptoelectronics ***,circular dichroism （CD）,as one of the most important characteristics to evaluate the chiroptical activity,remains at a comparatively low level in CHPs compared to other chiral materials,which hinders the successful applications of CHPs in stateof-the-art ***,exploring new methods for enhancing CD in CHPs is urgently needed and remains ***,enhanced CD response has been successfully realized via constructing carboxylic hydrogen bonding in chiralachiral mixed cations perovskites （R/S-PPA）2（ABA）PbBr5（2R/2S）(PPA=1-phenylpropylamine,ABA=4-aminobutyric acid).Compared with the prototype （R/S-PPA）PbBr3（1R/1S）,2R/2S provide intimate connections between organic units and inorganic parts via carboxylic hydrogen bonding N–H···O bridge,contributing new chirality transfer paths.A larger inorganic skeletons’helicity in 2R/2S predicts a high degree of chirality ***,2R/2S exhibit significantly enhanced CD response with an anisotropy factor amplified by an order of ***,bright blue circularly polarized luminescence applications are achieved in 2R/*** work systematically investigates the correlation between CD and hydrogen bonding interaction in CHPs,meanwhile providing a new avenue to develop the application potential of chiral materials in chiroptoelectronics.

Synthesis of High Molecular Weight Polyethylene and E-MA Copolymers Using Iminopyridine Ni(Ⅱ) and Pd(Ⅱ) Complexes Containing a Flexible Backbone and Rigid Axial Substituents

Suppressing the chain transfer reactions during polymerization in late-transition metal-catalyzed olefin polymerization systems is the key to obtaining high molecular weight polyolefin materials. In this work, two efficient strategies(“sandwich” and rotation-restricted strategies)to retard chain transfer reactions in ethylene(co)polymerization were employed for the iminopyridyl system. Herein, a family of iminopyridyl Ni(Ⅱ)and Pd(Ⅱ) complexes with a flexible backbone and rigid axial bulky aryl substituents were designed, synthesized and characterized. In ethylene polymerization, the iminopyridyl Ni(Ⅱ) and Pd(Ⅱ) catalysts using the two strategies exhibited reasonable activities and generated highly branched polyethylenes with high molecular weights, where catalysts with dibenzosuberyl substituents exhibited significantly higher activities and produced higher molecular weight polyethylene than catalysts with 8-arylnaphthalenyl substituent. A similar trend of activities and molecular weights was also found in the copolymerization of ethylene with MA using the Pd(Ⅱ) catalysts. Moreover, highly branched E-MA copolymers with moderate to high molecular weights and high incorporation ratios(up to 17.4 mol%) were generated with the two Pd(Ⅱ) catalysts. Most interestingly, as compared with the dibenzhydryl Ni(Ⅱ) and Pd(Ⅱ) catalysts, the catalysts using the two strategies exhibited a superior ability to retard the chain transfer reactions and generated polymers and copolymers with 1-2 orders of magnitude higher molecular weights during ethylene(co)polymerization.

There is a continuous demand to reduce the size of the devices that form a unit circuit,such as logic gates and memory,to reduce their footprint and increase device *** order to achieve a highly efficient circuit architecture,optimizations need to be made in terms of device ***,the time involved in the current reduction of device sizes according to Moore's Law has slowed ***,we propose a flexible transistor with ultra-thin IGZO(InGaZnO,indium-gallium-zinc-oxide)as the channel material,which not only scales down the footprints of multi-transistor logic gates but also combines the functions of the logic gates,memory,and sensors into a single *** transistor proposed here has an ultrathin semiconductor layer and can implement the typical functions of logic gates that conventionally have 2-6 ***,it demonstrates the memory effect with a programming time as low as 5 *** design can also display various artificial synaptic *** new device design and structure can be adopted for the development of next-generation flexible electronics that require higher integration.
