Early Triassic Volcanic Rocks in the Western Yarlung Zangbo Suture Zone:Implications for the Opening of the Neo-Tethys Ocean

In this study,zircon U-Pb dating of volcanic rocks from the Zhongba ophiolite of the Yarlung Zangbo Suture Zone(YZSZ)in southern Xizang(Tibet)yielded an age of 247±3 *** to whole rock geochemical and Sr-NdPb isotopic data,the Early Triassic samples could be divided into two groups:Group 1 with P-MORB affinity,showing initial^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios of 0.70253–0.70602,ε_(Nd)(t)values of 4.2–5.3,(^(206)Pb/^(204)Pb)_(t)ratios of 16.353–18.222,(^(207)Pb/^(204)Pb)_(t)ratios of 15.454–15.564,and(^(208)Pb/^(204)Pb)_(t)ratios of 35.665–38.136;Group 2 with OIB affinity,showing initial^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios of 0.70249–0.70513,ε_(Nd)(t)values of 4.4–4.9,(^(206)Pb/^(204)Pb)_(t)ratios of 17.140–18.328,(^(207)Pb/^(204)Pb)_(t)ratios of 15.491–15.575,and(^(208)Pb/^(204)Pb)_(t)ratios of 36.051–*** 2 rocks formed by partial melting of the mantle source enriched by a former plume,and assimilated continental crustal material during melt *** formation of Group 1 rocks corresponds to the mixing of OIB melts,with the same components as Group 2 and *** Zhongba Early Triassic rocks belong to the continental margin type ophiolite and formed in the continental–oceanic transition zone during the initial opening of the Neo-Tethys in southern Xizang(Tibet).

Nd isotopic compositions of the Tethyan Himalayan Sequence in southeastern Tibet

The Himalayan orogen consists of three major lithologic units that are separated by two major north-dipping faults: the Lesser Himalayan Sequence (LHS) below the Main Central Thrust (MCT), the Greater Himalayan Crystalline Complex (GHC) above the MCT, and the Tethyan Himalayan Sequence (THS) juxtaposed by the South Tibet Detachment fault (STD) over the GHC. Due to widespread meta-morphism and intense deformation, differentiating the above three lithologic units is often difficult. This problem has been overcome by the use of Sm-Nd isotopic analysis. The previous studies suggested that the LHS can be clearly distinguished from the GHC and THS by their Nd isotope compositions. However, the lack of detailed and systematic Sm-Nd isotopic studies of the THS across the Himalaya in general has made differentiation of this unit from the nearby GHC impossible, as the two appear to share overlapping Nd compositions and model ages. To address this problem, we systematically sam-pled and analyzed Nd isotopes of the THS in southeastern Tibet directly north of Bhutan. Our study identifies two distinctive fields in a εNd -TDM plot. The first is defined by the εNd(210 Ma) values of -3.45 to -7.34 and TDM values of 1.15 to 1.29 Ga from a Late Triassic turbidite sequence, which are broadly similar to those obtained from the Lhasa block. The second field is derived from the Early Cretaceous meta-sedimentary rocks with εNd(130 Ma) values from -15.24 to -16.61 and TDM values from 1.63 to 2.00 Ga; these values are similar to those obtained from the Greater Himalayan Crystalline Complex in Bhutan directly south of our sampling traverse, which has εNd(130 Ma) values of -10.89 to -16.32 and Nd model ages (TDM) of 1.73 to 2.20 Ga. Borehole stability in naturally fractured rocks with drilling mud intrusion and associated fracture strength weakening:A coupled DFN-DEM approach

Middle Jurassic-early Cretaceous radiolarian assemblages of the western Yarlung Zangbo Suture Zone: Implications for the evolution of the Neo-Tethys

Cherts in the Zhongba melange of the western Yarlung Zangbo Suture Zone(YZSZ) contain well preserved radiolarian assemblages. These radiolarian assemblages indicate that the Zhongba melange has middle Jurassic-early Cretaceous remnant, are coeval with those from the central and eastern parts of the YZSZ. Cherts from the Najiu area yield Aalenian to Aptian radiolarians, while cherts interbedded with siliceous mudstones from the Bielongjiala area yield Aptian radiolarians, indicating that terrigenousderived sediments were deposited during early Aptian. The above observations indicate that the entire YZSZ have a similar geochronological framework and thus they underwent similar geological evolution:(1) during the Jurassic, the Neo-Tethys was a wide ocean with pelagic sediments distal from continents;(2) during the Cretaceous(around 130-120 Ma), the Neo-Tethys started to subduct along the southern margin of the Lhasa block, and terrigenous-derived siliceous mudstone began deposition.

Sedimentology,provenance and geochronology of the Miocene Qiuwu Formation:Implication for the uplift history of Southern Tibet

Located on the south of the Gangdese,the Qiuwu Formation has traditionally been considered as Eocene coal-bearing clastic sediments consisting of sandstone,mudstone and conglomerate,unconformably on top of Gangdese ***,its precise age and depositional environment remain ***,we present a newly measured stratigraphic section near the Ngamring County,western *** zircon U-Pb ages were also applied to trace the provenance of sediments and to constrain the maximum depositional age of the Qiuwu *** facies analyses indicate subaqueous fan and alluvial fan depositional *** composition of the conglomerate is dominated by magmatic rocks at the lower part,while chert and mafic detritus occur in the upper part,suggesting a southern *** modal analyses indicate that the compositions of quartz,feldspar and lithic grains changed from transitional arc to dissected arc,implying the unroofing of the Gangdese *** zircon U-Pb ages of the Qiuwu Formation are compared with those from Gangdese magmatic rocks and Yarlung-Zangbo ophiolites,suggesting that the Gangdese arc is a main source of the Qiuwu detritus and that the southern source played a role during the later *** major peak of detrital zircon ages is at 45-55 Ma,which corresponds to Linzizong volcanic rocks in southern Gangdese *** weighted mean age of the five youngest zircons from the lower part of the section is 21.0 ± 2.2 Ma,suggesting that the Qiuwu Formation was deposited in early Miocene,coeval with other conglomerates exposed along the southern margin of *** new observations with previously published data,we propose that the provenance of the Qiuwu Formation had shifted from a single northern source to double sources from both the north and the *** of Great Counter Thrust were primarily responsible for the shift by making the south area a high elevation to provide sediments for the Qiuwu Formation

蛇纹岩对地球深部和浅部的元素循环以及氧化还原状态调节具有非常重要的作用。蛇纹岩中的流体活动性元素(fluid-mobile element,FME)是揭示地幔岩石水化、脱水以及元素循环的关键。本文系统收集和分析了前人报道的不同构造环境的蛇纹岩矿物化学、全岩微量元素和非传统稳定同位素(Fe、Zn、Cu)的组成特征,试图从多个角度总结蛇纹岩脱水过程的元素迁移规律及流体性质。蛇纹岩主要矿物蛇纹石微量元素含量具有以下主要特征:①不同变质程度的蛇纹岩中的蛇纹石既包含轻稀土元素(light rare earth element,LREE)富集,又包含LREE亏损的特征;②纤蛇纹石的REE和微量元素分布在利蛇纹石和叶蛇纹石的范围内,利蛇纹石重稀土元素(heavy rare earth element,HREE)整体上略高于叶蛇纹石且更加富集FME;③通过中度不相容元素与REE含量相结合,能够较好地区分橄榄石和辉石蛇纹石化所形成的蛇纹石,即辉石形成的蛇纹石富集相容元素(如Sc、Zn、Cr、Y和Ti等)并具有较高的HREE,而橄榄石形成的蛇纹石则表现为平坦且整体较低的REE分布型式。在蛇纹岩全岩微量元素和稀土元素(rare earth element,REE)含量方面,不同构造环境的蛇纹岩具有较大范围的重叠,但也有一定的差异:①慢速扩张的印度洋中脊蛇纹岩REE和微量元素含量要整体高于快速扩张的大西洋中脊和太平洋中脊的蛇纹岩;②马里亚纳蛇纹岩泥相比于蛇纹岩和蛇纹石化纯橄岩具有更高的REE和微量元素,而蛇纹石化纯橄岩相比于蛇纹岩则具有相对低的REE及流体不活动性元素含量。因此,利用微量元素的含量在区分不同环境的蛇纹岩方面存在一定的困难。但是,碱金属元素与U元素含量及其相应的比值,则可以较明显区分出大洋蛇纹岩和弧前蛇纹岩。目前已发表的蛇纹岩Fe、Zn、Cu同位素数据表明:①蛇绿岩中的蛇纹岩Fe和Zn同位素的分馏与其变质程度密切相关。蛇纹岩在进变质过程中δ56Fe值与Fe^(3+)/ΣFe值呈负相关,而Zn含量和δ66Zn值则呈现正相关,表明蛇纹岩变质脱水能够释放氧化性流体;②与橄榄岩相比,蛇纹岩具有明显低的δ65 Cu值,表明橄榄岩蛇纹石化过程中存在氧化性流体的加入。蛇纹岩Fe、Zn、Cu同位素在示踪流体性质和氧化还原状态方面有很大潜力,对壳幔系统的化学循环具有重要意义。

变质底板的结构组分、形成时代及侵位机制:对大洋初始俯冲过程的约束

变质底板是俯冲下插板片发生变质作用而形成,一般与俯冲带之上热的地幔橄榄岩直接接触。主要包括石榴子石角闪岩等高温和变质泥岩等低温变质底板。全球范围内,变质底板一般以岩块形式出露在蛇绿混杂岩中。但是阿曼蛇绿岩中出现了相对完整的变质底板序列,由顶至底依次出露高温变质底板和低温变质底板,它们位于条带状橄榄岩之下。由于变质底板中包含的高温变质底板部分只能形成于板块初始俯冲阶段,因此变质底板能很好记录板块初始俯冲过程。初始俯冲是指俯冲带在转变为成熟俯冲体系之前的一个相对短暂的过程。变质底板形成时间的约束方法主要包括:1)40Ar/39Ar定年,定年矿物包括角闪石和白云母等;2)U‐Pb定年,定年矿物包括榍石、锆石和独居石等;3)Lu‐Hf定年,定年矿物包括石榴子石等。而变质底板侵位机制主要有:1)俯冲角度变缓模型,2)浮力驱动模型,3)局部应变增生模型。为了探讨变质底板对初始俯冲过程的约束,本文收集了大量新特提斯中蛇绿岩和变质底板的年龄数据。结果表明每期变质底板形成时都会有对应的俯冲带之上型蛇绿岩形成,而且它们在不同的测年体系下有近乎相同的定年结果,这可能反映变质底板和蛇绿岩在后期经历了快速的剥露作用。通过研究发现,仅仅依靠蛇绿岩和变质底板之间的年龄对比无法约束初始俯冲机制。只有在确定变质底板原岩、变质底板和蛇绿岩三者的年龄关系并重建变质底板的P‐T‐t轨迹等条件下,才能有效约束初始俯冲机制及蛇绿岩的形成背景。

东昆仑山脉晚志留世-早侏罗世花岗类岩石中锆石微量元素地球化学特征及地质意义

为了更深入的认识东昆仑山脉岩浆作用和构造演化历史,本文采用激光剥蚀电感耦合等离子质谱仪(LA-ICP-MS)方法对东昆仑山脉中部和东部不同时代的花岗类岩石中锆石进行了系统的微量元素分析。东昆仑山脉晚志留世二长花岗岩和晚二叠世、晚三叠世、早侏罗世花岗岩中绝大多数锆石Th/U>0.5,锆石的球粒陨石标准化REE配分曲线均为HREE相对于MREE和LREE富集,并且具有Ce正异常和Eu负异常,为典型的岩浆锆石。晚志留世二长花岗岩和晚二叠世、晚三叠世花岗岩锆石具有低的Ce正异常,高的Eu负异常;早侏罗世花岗岩锆石则具有高的Ce正异常,高Nb、Ta含量,低Eu负异常;晚二叠世花岗岩锆石还具有高∑REE、Y、Th、U含量;而晚三叠世花岗岩锆石则在所有样品中具有最高的Hf含量,是演化程度高的岩浆产物。除此之外,晚志留世、晚二叠世、晚三叠世和早侏罗世样品中部分锆石呈现LREE富集,说明它们在岩浆晚期可能遭受LREE富集热液的改造。根据锆石Ti温度计,计算出所有样品的结晶温度小于800℃,说明它们很有可能形成于富集流体的俯冲带环境。结合前人研究资料和所分析锆石的U-Pb年龄数据,对东昆仑山脉中古-中生代多期的构造-岩浆事件提供了新的约束:(1)晚志留世二长花岗岩的形成可能与一个小型洋盆的俯冲作用有关,其岩浆源区是地壳浅部的沉积基底;(2)晚二叠世花岗岩可能是在古特提斯洋向北俯冲过程中由于幔源岩浆使浅层地壳发生熔融形成;(3)晚三叠世-早侏罗世花岗岩在羌塘和昆仑-柴达木同碰撞过程形成。

藏南柳区砾岩的沉积环境及物源分析:对雅鲁藏布缝合带古近纪隆升的约束

沿雅鲁藏布江缝合带分布的柳区砾岩是喜马拉雅造山作用过程中重要的沉积记录。然而,目前对该套地层的构造属性仍存在不同的认识,因为尚未发现来自冈底斯中酸性的火山岩砾石,部分学者认为其是在印度和洋内岛弧碰撞形成的。本次工作对柳区出露的柳区砾岩进行了详细的剖面实测、沉积学观察和物源区分析。地层由厚层的砾级到巨砾级的砾岩以及相对较薄层的砂岩和泥岩组成,砾石包括硅质岩、基性-超基性岩、石英砂岩、岩屑砂岩以及板岩和千枚岩。砾岩分选差,磨圆差,颗粒支撑和基质支撑均发育,根据岩相组合判断其形成于冲积扇和辫状河环境。较大的砾径以及极低的结构成熟度表示为近源堆积,暗示雅鲁藏布江蛇绿岩带为该套砾岩的重要源区,而特提斯喜马拉雅带为板岩和片岩的主要源区。岩屑砂岩的碎屑颗粒统计结果显示岩屑的含量为82%～85%,其中沉积岩屑为主（82%～95%）,石英颗粒以单晶石英为主。碎屑锆石U-Pb年龄有453～579Ma和737～889Ma二个主要的范围,而缺少200～400Ma的锆石年龄。上述观测都说明日喀则弧前盆地、雅鲁藏布蛇绿岩带和特提斯喜马拉雅为柳区砾岩的重要物源区。由于柳区砾岩内部含有日喀则弧前盆地提供的物源,所以柳区砾岩是印度-欧亚板块碰撞之后沉积的。而柳区砾岩内各成分的变化反应源区对物源贡献的变化,同时记录了造山带隆升的历史,具体表现为印度-欧亚板块碰撞后,首先雅鲁藏布江蛇绿岩带和日喀则弧前盆地相对较快隆升,并遭受剥蚀,为柳区砾岩的沉积提供初始的物源,随着印度板块的俯冲,特提斯喜马拉雅带开始隆升,成为了柳区砾岩的物源,主要提供板岩和千枚岩。进一步的俯冲使得蛇绿岩带大幅度隆升而阻碍了日喀则弧前盆地和冈底斯继续提供物源,使得柳区砾岩上段石英砂岩中缺少火山岩石英和再旋回的石英颗粒。
