Performance of biological phosphorus removal and characteristics of microbial community in the oxic-settling-anaerobic process by FISH analysis

Performance of biological phosphorus removal in the oxic-settling-anaerobic(OSA) process was investigated. Cell staining and fluorescent in situ hybridization(FISH) were used to analyze characteristics and microbial community of sludge. Experimental results showed that phosphorus removal efficiency was near 60% and the amount of biological phosphorus accumulation in aerobic sludge of the OSA system was up to 26.9 mg/g. Biological phosphorus removal efficiency was partially inhibited by carbon sources in the continuous OSA system. Contrasted to the OSA system,biological phosphorus removal efficiency was enhanced by 14% and the average total phosphorus(TP) contents of aerobic sludge were increased by 0.36 mg/g when sufficient carbon sources were supplied in batch experiments. Staining methods indicated that about 35% of microorganisms had typical characteristics of phosphorus accumulating organisms(PAOs) . FISH analysis demonstrated that PAOMIX-binding bacteria were predominant microbial communities in the OSA system,which accounted for around 28% of total bacteria.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+/NADH) pools homeostasis is recognized as an Achilles’ Heel in tumor metabolism reprogramming. However, mitochondria can enable cancer cells to overcome NADH exhaustion by providing NAD+ precursors and/or intermediates, thus promoting their survival rate and potentially driving uncontrollable proliferation. Here, a synergistic intervention NAD+/NADH homeostasis and mitochondrial metabolism strategy with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)/photoacoustic imaging (PAI) are developed to address grand challenge of metabolic reprogramming for antitumor bioenergetic therapy. A mitochondrial-targeted cascade amplification nanoplatform ([β-MQ]TRL), triggered by NAD(P)H: quinone oxidoreductase-1 (NQO1), can enable a continuous depletion of cytosol NADH until cell death. The end-product, hydrogen peroxide (H_(2)O_(2)), can be further catalytically converted to higher toxic ·OH in proximity to mitochondria based on [β-MQ]TRL mediated Fenton-like reaction, hijacking tumorigenic energy sources and leading to mitochondrial dysfunction. Additionally, the mild thermal ablation enabled by [β-MQ]TRL further amplifies this cascade reaction to effectively prevent tumor metastasis and recurrence. This synchronous intervention strategy with MRI/PAI establishes unprecedented efficiency in antitumor bioenergetic therapy in vivo, which shows excellent promise for clinical application.

The Bayan Obo iron ore contains valuable metallic elements such as niobium and rare earth elements. However, developing appropriate metallurgical processes to achieve effective dephosphorization of Nb-bearing hot metal meanwhile retaining Nb in the steel products remains a challenge. We carried out a thermodynamic study on dephosphorization of Nbbearing hot metal and investigated the effects of the initial [C] content and the dephosphorization temperature on oxidation behaviors of [Nb] and [P]. In particular, we focused on thermodynamic analysis of dephosphorization of Nb-bearing hot metal with highly basic BaO-based slag. The results showed that the highly basic BaO-based slag system is more suitable for dephosphorization under oxidative conditions, and increasing the [C] content favors dephosphorization of Nb-bearing hot metal without oxidizing [Nb]. Moreover, the values of equilibrium oxygen activity for oxidation reactions of [Nb] and [P] are increased as the dephosphorization temperature increases. Considering the hot metal containing 0.02% of [Nb] in Baotou Steel, thermodynamic calculations indicated that the content of [P] can be reduced to 0.02%–0.05% and [Nb] remains unoxidized when dephosphorization occurs at the cconditions of T=1573–1673 K, [C]=4.0%, [Nb]=0.02%, aP2O5=10-24, aNb2O5=10-10.

Double-pass hot compression tests were carried out over a wide range of holding time（0–180 s） and Zener-Hollomon parameter（1.6 E15–1.3 E20） to study the deformation behavior of cast Mg-8 Gd-3 Y *** flow curves show obvious work hardening and strain softening stages, leading to the peak stress of double-pass hot compression. Holding time and Zener-Hollomon parameter can significantly affect the second pass peak stress. It is found that increasing the holding time can cause a higher peak stress in the second pass deformation. The second pass stress reaches the peak stress of 71 MPa at ZenerHollomom parameter of 1.6 E15. When the parameter rises to 1.3 E20, the second pass peak goes up to237 MPa. In addition, the second pass peak stress is significantly higher than the unloading stress, which is opposite to the flow behavior of aluminum alloys. Residual stored deformation energy caused by the first pass deformation could be consumed by metadynamic recrystallization. Therefore, more strain energy is required for subsequent dynamic recrystallization, resulting in hardening behavior. A hardening fraction is defined to describe the deformation behavior quantitatively, which shows a positive correlation with the metadynamic recrystallization fraction. The metadynamic recrystallization leads to grain growth at the inter pass holding stage, diminishing dynamic recrystallization nucleation positions in the second pass deformation.

Assume that {R γ } γ∈Γ is a countable family of relations of the full measure on a probability space (X, B, μ), i.e. for every γ ∈ Γ there is a positive integer s γ such that R γ ? $X^{s_\gamma } $ with $\mu ^{s_\gamma } $ (R γ ) = 1. In the present paper we show that if (X, B, μ) has a regular base, the cardinality of which is not greater than the cardinality of the continuum, then there exists a set K ? X with μ*(K) = 1 such that (x 1, …, $x_{^{s_\gamma } } $ ) ∈ R γ for any γ ∈ Γ and for any s γ distinct elements x 1, …, $x_{^{s_\gamma } } $ of K, where μ* is the outer measure induced by the measure μ. Moreover, an application of the result mentioned above is given to the dynamical systems determined by the iterates of measure-preserving transformations.

Optical non-linear phenomena are typically observed in natural materials interacting with light at high intensities, and they benefit a diverse range of applications from communication to sensing. However,controlling harmonic conversion with high efficiency and flexibility remains a major issue in modern optical and radio-frequency systems. Here, we introduce a dynamic time-domain digital-coding metasurface that enables efficient manipulation of spectral harmonic distribution. By dynamically modulating the local phase of the surface reflectivity, we achieve accurate control of different harmonics in a highly programmable and dynamic fashion, enabling unusual responses, such as velocity illusion. As a relevant application, we propose and realize a novel architecture for wireless communication systems based on the time-domain digital-coding metasurface, which largely simplifies the architecture of modern communication systems, at the same time yielding excellent performance for real-time signal transmission. The presented work, from new concept to new system, opens new pathways in the application of metamaterials to practical technology.

A Furstenberg family F is a family,consisting of some subsets of the set of positive integers,which is hereditary upwards,i.e.A?B and A∈F imply B∈*** a given system(i.e.,a pair of a complete metric space and a continuous self-map of the space)and for a Furstenberg family F,the definition of F-scrambled pairs of points in the space has been given,which brings the well-known scrambled pairs in Li-Yorke sense and the scrambled pairs in distribution sense to be F-scrambled pairs corresponding respectively to suitable Furstenberg family *** the present paper we explore the basic properties of the set of F-scrambled pairs of a *** generically F-chaotic system and the generically strongly F-chaotic system are defined.A criterion for a generically strongly F-chaotic system is showed.

The high-throughput strategy has widely developed in bioin- formatics and pharmaceutical industry [ 1 ]. The combinato- rial method is the most crucial experimental technique to put this strategy into practical application [2]. The main idea is synthesizing samples with various physical or chemical pa- rameters in one process and characterizing them simultane- ously. In the 1960s, this idea had been introduced to the ma- terial research by Hanak [3]. Unfortunately, owing to the lack of powerful methods used for data collection and analysis, this forward-looking attempt was ignored.
