A moringa Oleifera disinfectant-Sand Filter Integration： A Review of an Alternative Sustainable Technology for Household Water Treatment

This review provides an insight and up-to-date information on the application of moringa oleifera seeds, the short falls of existing technologies as a coagulant and disinfectant in d.m.stic water treatment. While the coagulant properties are well reported, the disinfectant properties are not well studied. Literatures on low cost alternative technologies such as the application of hiocoagulants and slow sand filters are extensively reported. However, there is limited work addressing the limitations of these technologies that have restricted its widespread use to solve the global soaring water crises. Slow sand filters have a very slow filtration rate that depends on the biofilm layer which takes about 17 days to form. moringa oleifera treated water cannot last more than 48 hours without bacteria regrowth. Investigation of the best method of isolating coagulant component continues with differing opinions over the nature of its coagulant ingredient not resolved in ongoing literature. An attempt was made in this paper to highlight the advantages of a moringa disinfectant sand filter hybrid system that can purify water. microbiological advantages of this system in providing a 100% removal of pathogens, and engineering considerations such as water treatment within an hour residence time, faster flow rates, less clogging and backwashing could be some of the advantages ofa moringa sand filter system. The need to focus on integrating moringa and sand filter systems for more practical applications is recommended.

In this paper,for the output tracking problem of nonlinear discrete-time systems,a performance index is newly defined using the adaptive dynamic programming(AdP) technique to completely eliminate tracking errors in *** contrast to traditional definitions of performance indices in other AdP-based.m.thods,the proposed performance index is not only designed from the perspective of output tracking errors but also introduced errors of system states and control inputs at adjacent stages,which is suitable for practical situations in many industrial applications,such as the alumina production,the flotation process,and the mineral grinding *** proved that the obtained controller can make the system output fully track the given reference trajectory by applying the iterative criteria of the AdP *** addition,the proposed algorithm was implemented using a data-driven technique and neural networks to avoid analyzing and deducing the complicated dynamics of actual industrial ***,using historical data for a forced-circulation evaporation system in the alumina production process,the effect of the proposed approach was verified through a numerical simulation and compared with that of the proportional-integral controller.

Reinforcement learning(RL) has roots in dynamic programming and it is called adaptive/approximate dynamic programming(AdP) within the control community. This paper reviews recent developments in AdP along with RL and its applications to various advanced control fields. First, the background of the development of AdP is described, emphasizing the significance of regulation and tracking control problems. Some effective offline and online algorithms for AdP/adaptive critic control are displayed, where the main results towards discrete-time systems and continuous-time systems are surveyed, ***, the research progress on adaptive critic control based on the event-triggered framework and under uncertain environment is discussed, respectively, where event-based design, robust stabilization, and game design are reviewed. moreover, the extensions of AdP for addressing control problems under complex environment attract enormous attention. The AdP architecture is revisited under the perspective of data-driven and RL frameworks,showing how they promote AdP formulation ***, several typical control applications with respect to RL and AdP are summarized, particularly in the fields of wastewater treatment processes and power systems, followed by some general prospects for future research. Overall, the comprehensive survey on AdP and RL for advanced control applications has d emonstrated its remarkable potential within the artificial intelligence era. In addition, it also plays a vital role in promoting environmental protection and industrial intelligence.

The mesoproterozoic(1.11 Ga)Umkondo large igneous province(LIP)in southern Africa and Antarctica was emplaced inmyr and is d.m.nated by low-Ti tholeiitic doleritic-gabbroic *** is of particular interest because it is the least studied LIP in southern Africa with both sublithospheric and lithospheric mantle sources proposed and it coincides with the early assembly of Rodinia,so it has importance in understanding the nature of magmatism and tectonics in and around the Kalahari craton during the *** this study,we compiled a large database of existing(~750)and new(~100)major and trace element data for the Umkondo province,as well as 42 new Sr-Nd isotopic measurements,to provide constraints on its magma sources and geochemical *** element compositional variations in the low-Ti tholeiites are explained by low-pressure(1 kbar)three-phase fractional crystallisation(olivine,clinopyroxene and plagioclase)of a parent magma with~10 wt.%mgO in oxidising conditions(QFm+1).Inverse models show that the low-Ti tholeiitic magmas were derived as residual melts after the crystallization of 12%-33%olivine from primary komatiitic-basaltic magmas(up to~20 wt.%mgO)in equilibrium with mantle olivine(Fo90).Low Sm/Yb and TiO2/Yb-Nb/Yb indicate that the primary magmas were derived by 2%-20%shallow(40-50 km)partial melting of spinel *** Sm/Yb is restricted to dyke swarms and.m.y imply limited.m.gma production from deeper(up to~70 km)garnet lherzolite-like *** low-Ti tholeiites of the Umkondo province are enriched in large ion lithophile elements(Rb-Sr-Cs-K)and depleted in high-field strength elements(Zr-Hf-Nb-Ta),indicating the involvement of crustal material and/or the subcontinental lithospheric *** is supported by covariations in Th/Nb,Nb/Yb,Nb/La and Ce/Sm with generally negativeΔ***-Nd isotopes lend support to the notion that the Umkondo magmas were derived from depleted and/or enriched sublithospheric mantle sources and subs

We have reported the characteristics of a Z-scan for the poly(azaneylylidene-acylene)(dAZA) polymer, as nonlinear medium with a large nonlinear phase shift using continuous-wave(CW) laser beam. It has been verified that the Fresnel diffraction model is applicable for analyses of Z-scan measurements with dAZA polymer at high laser power. It was found that Z-scan curves with peak-to-valley features appear as the applied light intensity increases in the case of a large nonlinear phase shift. The Z-scan experiments were carried out using a CW laser to verify the theoretical calculations in the case of a large nonlinear phase shift model. Our results show good agreements between the experimental data and the proposed theoretical models.

Graphene oxide is a promising adsorption ***,it has been difficult to recycle and separate graphene oxide in the *** alleviate this problem,graphene oxide was thermally reduced to produce porous hydrogel which was then functionalized with *** functional groups act as not only adsorption sites but also nucleation sites for in situ crystallization of cobalt-doped zeolitic-imidazolate-framework-8 *** effects of cobalt-doping contents on the physicochemical and adsorption properties of the resulting aerogel were also evaluated by varying the cobalt *** instance,the reduced graphene oxide-polydopamine/50cobalt-zeolitic-imidazolate-framework-8 aerogel exhibited a high surface area of 900 m^(2)·g^(-1)and.m.intained the structure in water after ten *** as-synthesized aerogels showed an ultrahigh adsorption capacity of 1217±24.35 mg·g^(-1)with a removal efficiency of>99%of lead,as well as excellent adsorption performance toward other heavy metals,such as copper and cadmium with adsorption capacity of 1163±34.91 and 1059±31.77 mg·g^(-1),*** importantly,the lead adsorption stabilized at 1023±20.5 mg·g^(-1)with a removal efficiency of>80%after seven cycles,indicating their potential in heavy metal removal from industrial wastewater.

Spinel cubic ferrites have huge applications in me mory and high frequency *** the improvement of these modern devices,the magnetic coercivity,permeability,and dielectric properties of a ferrite are the important *** article focuses on improving the magnetic coercivity,magnetic permeability,and dielectric properties of Co_(0.2)Zn_(0.3)Ni_(0.5)Eu_(x)Fe_(2-x)O_(4) ferrites,where x=0.00,0.06,and *** X-ray diffraction(XRd),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEm),energy dispersive X-ray(EdX),vibrating sample magnetometer(VSm),and an impedance analyzer were used to characterize the structural,magnetic,and dielectric properties of the *** XRd patterns indicate the formation of spinel cubic structure of the samples with a secondary peak(EuFeO_(3))for Eu doped *** densities and porosities of the samples follow an inverse trend,where the doped samples’lattice parameters are increased with the increment of rare earth Eu *** FTIR analysis also proves the spinel cubic phase of the *** average grain size of the ferrites is obtained via FESEm images,and it is increased from 121 to 198 *** analysis confirms that doping of the Eu content also changes other hysteresis loop properties of Co_(0.2)Zn_(0.3)Ni_(0.5)Eu_(x)Fe_(2-x)O_(4) ***,the coercivity of the Eu doped samples is greater than that of the mother alloy(x=0.00).The EdX study shows that there is no impurity contamination in the *** permeability and dielectric measurements show an improved quality factor of the Eu-doped samples with low magnetic and dielectric *** dependent resistivity and impedance analysis also show the improved *** the observed properties of the samples,all the investigated ferrites might be strong candidates for potential applications in memory devices,magnetic sensors,and high frequency applications.

This paper theoretically studies the impurity states and the effects of impurity concentration and configuration on the optical,electrical,and statistical properties of CdSe nanoplatelets(NPLs).An image charge-based.m.del of electron-impurity interaction is *** charge-carrier energy spectra and corresponding wave functions depending on the impurity number and configuration are *** electron binding energies are calculated for different NPL *** is shown that the image charge-based interaction potential that arises due to the dielectric constants mismatch is much stronger than the interaction potential that does not take such a mismatch into ***,it is d.m.nstrated that the binding energies are increasing with the number of *** calculate the canonical partition function using the energy levels of the electron,which in turn is used to obtain the mean energy,heat capacity,and entropy of the non-interacting electron *** thermodynamic properties of the non-interacting electron gas that depend on the geometric parameters of the NPL,impurity number,configuration,and temperature are studied.
