ZnO/CeO_(2)/carbon xerogel composites with direct Z-scheme heterojunctions:Enhancing photocatalytic remediation of 4-chlorophenol under visible light

This paper aims to create visible light driven ternary photocatalysts using zinc oxide(ZnO),cerium(IV)oxide(CeO_(2)),and carbon xerogel(CX) as constituent *** use of CeO_(2) is based on the creation of direct-Z-scheme heterojunctions with the ZnO and the consequent diminishing of charge recombination,whereas the carbon xerogel inclusion is predicted to minimize bandgap energy,decrease electro n-hole reco mbination,and boost specific surface *** re,the choice of the black-wattle tannin as a carbonaceous precursor was targeted at the development of an environmentally friendly and affordable *** existence of the hexagonal phase of zinc oxide and cubic structure of the cerium(IV) oxide in the ternary material was confirmed by X-ray diffractometry and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,with the latter also suggesting chemical bonding between the ZnO and the CX due to the creation of zinc oxycarbide *** inclusion of the carbon xerogel provokes a significant modification in the morphology of the ternary material,resulting in an increased surface area and smaller particle *** CX/ZnO-CeO_(2) ternary composite obtains the highest photocatalytic efficiency among all the materials studied,degrading 100% of 4-chlorophenol under simulated sunlight and 68% under visible radiation,after 5 *** increased photocatalytic activity can be attributed to the formation of direct Z-scheme heterojunctions between the semiconductors,higher visible light response,and higher specific surface area,as evidenced by the results obtained by active radical scavenging,chronoamperometry,diffuse reflectance spectroscopy,and N_(2) adsorption-desorption isotherms.

Bismuth vanadate(BiVO_(4),BVO)as a promising photoelectrode has been received great attention for photoelectrochemical(PEC)water ***,the slow oxidation kinetics on the surface of BiVO_(4)limited the PEC water splitting ***,nickel boride(Ni_(3)B,NB)nanoparticles,generally used in electrocatalytic field material,were modified on the surface of BiVO_(4)photoelectrode as an efficient cocatalyst to accelerate the oxygen evolution *** as-prepared BVO-NB-5P photoelectrode exhibits a remarkable photocurrent density of 1.47 mA·cm^(−2)at 1.23 V versus the reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)under air mass(AM)1.5 G illumination,which is about 2.8 times higher than the bare BiVO_(4)photoelectrode,and its water splitting rate is 11.3 times higher than bare BiVO_(4).The PEC studies reveal that the spin coated Ni_(3)B crystal cocatalyst could effectively reduce the water oxidation barrier,and improve the surface charge injection efficiency to 94%,which could boost the photogenerated holes reaction to enhance the PEC performance of BiVO_(4)photoelectrode.

Explainable-AI-based two-stage solution for WSN object localization using zero-touch mobile transceivers

Artificial intelligence technology is widely used in the field of wireless sensor networks(WSN).due to its inexplicability, the interference factors in the process of WSN object localization cannot be effectively eliminated. In this paper, an explainable-AI-based two-stage solution is proposed for WSN object localization. In this solution, mobile transceivers are used to enlarge the positioning range and eliminate the blind area for object localization. The motion parameters of transceivers are considered to be unavailable,and the localization problem is highly nonlinear with respect to the unknown parameters. To address this,an explainable AI model is proposed to solve the localization problem. Since the relationship among the variables is difficult to fully include in the first-stage traditional model, we develop a two-stage explainable AI solution for this localization problem. The two-stage solution is actually a comprehensive consideration of the relationship between variables. The solution can continue to use the constraints unused in the firststage during the second-stage, thereby improving the performance of the solution. Therefore, the two-stage solution has stronger robustness compared to the closed-form solution. Experimental results show that the performance of both the two-stage solution and the traditional solution will be affected by numerical changes in unknown parameters. However, the two-stage solution performs better than the traditional solution, especially with a small number of mobile transceivers and sensors or in the presence of high noise. Furthermore,we have also verified the feasibility of the proposed explainable-AI-based two-stage solution.

Effects of methionine supplementation in a reduced protein diet on growth performance, oxidative status, intestinal health, oocyst shedding, and methionine and folate metabolism in broilers under Eimeria challenge

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH),an advanced form of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLd),has emerged as the leading cause of liver failure and related ***,no medication is specifically approved to treat NAFLd or *** we report that oral administration of honey vesiclelike nanoparticles(H-VLNs)to naturally aged mice protects the liver from NASH development.H-VLNs are dominantly taken up by Kupffer cells in the liver and suppress hepatic chronic inflammation and further development of fibrosis and nodule formation in aged *** their reported antiinflammasome function,H-VLNs are found to inhibit the transcriptional activities of C-JUN and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB).MicroRNAs miR5119 and miR5108 and phenolic compound luteolin in H-VLNs are identified in suppressing both the C-JUN and NF-kB ***,oral intake of H-VLNs represents a promising new user-friendly modality to prevent the development of NASH.

Efficacy of a diabetes Specific Nutritional Supplement (dSNS) on Glycemic Response in Prediabetic Adults: A Two-Armed, Open-Labelled Randomized Controlled Study

It is well known that diabetes Specific Nutritional Supplements (dSNSs) are linked to improved glycemic control in individuals with diabetes. However, data on efficacy of dSNSs in prediabetics is limited. This was a two-armed, open-labelled, randomized controlled six-week study on 199 prediabetics [30 - 65 years;Glycosylated Hemoglobin (HbA1c) 5.7% - 6.4% and/or Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG) 100-125 mg/dl]. Two parallel phases were conducted: Acute Blood Glucose Response (ABGR) and Intervention phase. Prediabetic participants were randomized into test (n = 100) and control (n = 99). The primary objective was to assess the ABGR of dSNS versus an isocaloric snack, measured by incremental Area under the Curve (iAUC). Test and control received 60 g of dSNS and 56 g of isocaloric snack (cornflakes) respectively, both in 250 ml double-toned milk on visit days 1, 15, 29 and 43. Postprandial Blood Glucose (PPG) was estimated at 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 minutes. during the 4 weeks intervention phase, the test group received dSNS with lifestyle counselling (dSNS + LC) and was compared with the control receiving lifestyle counselling alone (LC alone). Impact was studied on FBG, HbA1C, anthropometry, body composition, blood pressure, nutrient intake, and physical activity. The impact of dSNS was also studied using CGM between two 14-day phases: CGM1 baseline (days 1 - 14) and CGM2 endline (days 28 - 42). dSNS showed significantly lower PPG versus isocaloric snack at 30 (p 12, and chromium were reported by dSNS + LC versus LC alone. No other significant changes were reported between groups. It may be concluded that dSNS may be considered as a snack for prediabetic or hyperglycemic individuals requiring nutritional support for improved glycemic control.

Chronic pancreatitis(CP)continues to be a clinical *** or recurrent abdominal pain is the most compelling symptom that drives patients to seek medical ***,in spite of using several treatment approaches in the clinical setting,there is no single specific treatment modality that can be earmarked as a cure for this ***,ductal hypertension has been associated with causation of pain in CP;and patients are often subjected to endotherapy and surgery with a goal to decompress the pancreatic *** studies on humans(clinical and laboratory based)and experimental models have put forward several mechanisms,including neuroimmune alterations,which could be responsible for *** might explain the partial or no response to single modality treatment in a significant proportion of *** current review discusses the recent concepts of pain generation in CP and evidence based therapeutic approaches(other than ductal decompression)to handle persistent or recurrent *** focus primarily on parenchymal and neural components;and discuss the role of antioxidants and the existing controversies,drugs that interfere with neural transmission,pancreatic enzyme supplementation,celiac neurolysis,and pancreatic resection *** review concludes with the treatment approach that we follow at our institute.

Image processing techniques have become highly essential to improve the data usefulness of the raw images obtained for infrared non-destructive evaluation(NdE).The identification of defective regions from a thermogram has been a common problem in the field of *** segmentation is one of the promising approaches to identify defective regions from *** the present work,segmentation approach based on clustering is *** this image patterns are organized into clusters or groups considering the relationship among *** method involves finding the centroids of the regions and formation of clusters around each *** is applied to improve accuracy in formation of *** thresholding method is adapted to retrieve the shape of defect and to improve the possible diagnosis capabilities of system for NdE *** proposed method is investigated with frequency modulated thermal wave imaging(FMTWI)over glass fiber reinforced polymers(GFRP).The GFRP sample consists of square shaped Teflon inserts of different dimensions placed at various depths.A comparative study of the proposed novel segmentation scheme and existing segmentation methods is conducted.
