A compressible lattice Boltzmann-finite difference method is extended by the phase-field approach into a monolithic scheme to study fluid flow and heat transfer through regular arrangements of solid bodies of circular,elliptical and irregular *** advantage of using the phase-field method is demon-strated both in its simplicity of accounting for flow and thermal boundary conditions at solid surfaces with irregular shapes and in the capability of generating such complex-shaped *** an array of discs,numerical results for the overall solid-to-gas heat transfer rate are validated via experiments on flow through arrays of hot *** thus validated compressible LB-Fd-PF hybrid scheme is used to study the dependence of heat transfer on flow and thermal boundary conditions(Reynolds number,temperature difference between the hot solid bodies and the inlet gas),porosity as well as on the shape of solid *** are rationalized in terms of the residence time of the gas close to the solid body and downstream variations of gas velocity and *** for further applications of the proposed methodology are also discussed.

Micro-LEds(μLEds) have advantages in terms of brightness, power consumption, and response speed. In addition, they can also be used as micro-sensors implanted in the body via flexible electronic skin. One of the key techniques involved in the fabrication of μLEd-based devices is transfer printing. Although numerous methods have been proposed for transfer printing, improving the yield of μLEd arrays is still a formidable task. In this paper, we propose a novel method for improving the yield of μLEd arrays transferred by the stamping method, using an innovative design of piezoelectrically driven asymmetric micro-gripper. Traditional grippers are too large to manipulate μLEds, and therefore two micro-sized cantilevers are added at the gripper tips. A μLEd manipulation system is constructed based on the micro-gripper together with a three-dimensional positioning system. Experimental results using this system show that it can be used successfully to manipulate μLEd arrays.

Coal-gangue object detection has attracted substantial attention because it is the core of realizing vision-based intelligent and green coal separation. However, most existing studies have been focused on laboratory datasets and prioritized model lightweight. this makes the coal-gangue object detection challenging to adapt to the complex and harsh scenes of real production environments. therefore, our project collected and labeled image datasets of coal and gangue under real production conditions from a coal preparation plant. We then designed a one-stage object model, named STATNet, following the “backbone-neck-head” architecture with the aim of enhancing the detection accuracy under industrial coal preparation scenarios. the proposed model utilizes Swin Transformer as backbone module to extract multi-scale features, improved path augmentation feature pyramid network (iPAFPN) as neck module to enrich feature fusion, and task-aligned head (TAH) as head module to mitigate conflicts and misalignments between classification and localization tasks. Experimental results on a real-world industrial dataset demonstrate that the proposed STATNet model achieves an impressive AP50 of 89.27 %, significantly surpassing several state-of-the-art baseline models by 2.02 % to 5.58 %. Additionally, it exhibits stronger robustness in resisting image corruption and perturbation. these findings demonstrate its promising prospects in practical coal and gangue separation applications.

Effect of polymer and fiber additives on pressure drop in a rectangular channel

the influence of minute amounts of additives on pressure drop is an interesting fundamental phenomenon, potentially with important practical applications. Change of the pressure drop in a quasi-two-dimensional channel flow using various additives is experimentally investigated. Tests were conducted for a wide range of concentrations（100 ppm-500 ppm） and Reynolds numbers（16 000-36 000） with two polymers and four rigid fibers used as additive. Maximum drag reduction of 22% was observed for xanthan gum. However, xanthan gum loses its drag-reducing property rapidly. It was also seen that drag reduction percentage of xanthan gum remains almost constant for different Reynolds numbers. Guar flour demonstrated good drag reduction property at high Reynolds numbers. drag reduction of 17.5% at Re= 33 200 using 300 ppm solution was observed. However, at low Reynolds numbers guar flour will cause an increase in pressure drop. Fiber fillers（aspect ratio=21） have been tested as well. In contrast to polymers, they increased the drag for the range of examined concentrations and Reynolds numbers. Polyacrylonitrile fiber with three different aspect ratios（106, 200, 400） was also used, which showed an increase in pressure drop at low aspect ratios. Polyacrylonitrile fibers of larger lengths（6 mm） demonstrated minor drag-reducing effects（up to 3%）.

Cancer is one of the deadliest diseases in developing countries. In recent years, natural plant-based compounds have been used in the search for drugs to combat numerous diseases, including cancer. In this study, we evaluate the cytotoxic properties of paanfo tiben 1 and paanfo tiben 2, two traditional herbal formulations from Burkina Faso used in the treatment of cancer in Burkina Faso. To this end, the recipes were infused and freeze-dried. the dry extracts obtained were used to determine total phenolics and flavonoids content, assess antioxidant activity using the dPPH, ABTS and FRAP methods, evaluate anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting 15-LOX, COX 1 and 2, and assess cytotoxic activity on HeLa cervical cancer and HePG2 liver cancer cell lines using the MTT test. the paanfo tiben 1 recipe showed the highest levels of total phenolics and flavonoids, as well as the best antioxidant activities, with IC50 values of 21.020 ± 0.6 µg/ml and 22.94 ± 0.57 µg/ml for dPPH and ABTS, and 165.15 mM EAA/mg dry extract for FRAP. It also exhibited the best cytotoxic activity with IC50 values of 112.02 ± 0.025 µg/ml on HeLa cells and 80.67 ± 6.08 µg/ml on HepG2 cells. On the other hand, paanfo tiben 2 exhibited the best anti-inflammatory activities through inhibition of 15-LOX and COX 1, with inhibition percentages at 100 µg/ml of 32.523% and 24.717 % respectively. these results could justify the traditional use of these two recipes by traditional health practitioners in the treatment of cancer sufferers in Burkina Faso.

this conference report summarizes recent progress in plasma theory and simulation that was presented in contributed papers and discussions at the 11th Conference on Magnetic Confined Fusion theory and Simulation(CMCFTS)held in Chengdu,China,27–30 October,*** in various fields has been *** example,results on zonal flow generation by mode coupling,simulations of the key physics of divertor detachment,energetic particle effects on magnetohydrodynamic(MHd)modes in addition to ion-and electron-scale turbulence,physics of edge coherent modes and edge-localized modes,and the optimization of ion heating schemes as well as confinement scenarios using advanced integrated modeling are presented at the *** this conference,the scientific research groups were organized into six categories:(a)edge and divertor physics;(b)impurity,heating,and current drive;(c)energetic particle physics;(d)turbulent transport;(e)MHd instability;and(f)integrated modeling and code development.A summary of the highlighted progress in these working groups is presented.

Neonatal Morbidity and Mortality at Hospital Saint Camille de Ouagadougou (HOSCO): A Study from 2017 to 2020

Introduction: Neonatal pathology remains a real public health problem in developing countries. In Burkina Faso, this mortality has declined over the last ten years but remains below compared to the Sustainable development Goals, which is 12 per 1000 living births at most by 2030. this study aims to identify specific causes of neonatal morbidity and mortality and will contribute to the implementation of preventive and curative measures aimed at reducing neonatal mortality at HOSCO. Method: this was a retrospective study using the records and database of newborns hospitalized from January 1srt, 2017 to december 31srt, 2020. Using logistic regression, the factors associated with mortality were determined. Results: during the study period, 3020 newborns were hospitalized. Most newborns (83.71%) were referred by a peripheral health facility. the average age at admission was 0.3 days ± 0.9 and the sex ratio was 1.2. Prematurity was the leading cause of hospitalization (61.13%) followed by neonatal infection (38.34%) and neonatal suffering (23.88%). the mortality rate was 40.6% with 82.71% cases of death in the early neonatal period. the main causes of death were low birth weight (47.39%), respiratory distress (18.76%), neonatal suffering (17.37%) and neonatal infection (13.87%). Home delivery, gestational age 36 weeks, number of PNC 4, concept of resuscitation, Apgar at the 5th minute 7, birth weight 2000 g and >4000 g, respiratory distress, hypothermia, neurological disorders were factors associated with deaths. Conclusion: Neonatal mortality is influenced by both maternal and fetal factors and many of them are preventable.

In this correspondence,we establish mean convergence theorems for the maximum of normed double sums of Banach space valued random *** of the results pertain to random elements which are *** expand and improve a number of particular cases in the literature on mean convergence of random elements in Banach *** of the main contributions of the paper is to simplify and improve a recent result of Li,Presnell,and Rosalsky[Journal of Mathematical Inequalities,16,117–126(2022)].A new maximal inequality for double sums of M-dependent random elements is proved which may be of independent *** sharpness of the results is illustrated by four examples.

Modeling the Kinetics of Moisture desorption from Safou Pulp [dacryodes edulis (G. don) ***] before the Oil Extraction Step

the aim of this work is to model the drying kinetics of Safou pulp with or without endocarp using a phenomenological approach. Oven-drying kinetics at 70˚C, 90˚C and 105˚C were monitored using the curves given by the reduced mass as a function of time, which are modeled according to the Avrami/page, Fick and Peleg models using OringinPro 2018 software. the results showed that parameters k and n of the Avrami/Page model vary very little with fruit size and drying temperature (0.0018 ± 0.0002 k n k (Avrami model/page) were virtually identical, while b (Fick model) and n (Avrami model/page) were virtually identical for the same sample. For the Peleg model, the parameter a, varies from 0.0018 ± 0.0002 to 0.03328 ± 0.0079, with a ratio of 18.6 for all experimental conditions studied. However, with 0.977 R2 χ2 d fit of the model to the experimental data. the same applies to parameter b, which ranges from 0.82 ± 0.05 to 1.21 ± 0.02. thus, drying modeling by these three models can be used to describe and predict the progress of oven-drying of safou pulp.
