White-light continuum can be induced by the interaction of intense femtosecond laser pulses with condensed *** using two orthogonal polarizers,a self-induced birefringence of continuum is observed when focusing femtosecond laser pulses into bulk fused *** is,the generated white-light continuum is synchronously modulated anisotropically while propagating in fused ***-resolved detection confirms that self-induced birefringence of continuum shows a growth and saturation feature with time *** adjusting laser energy,the transmitted intensity of continuum modulated by self-induced birefringence also varies *** analysis with time evolution indicates that it is the focused femtosecond laser pulses that induce anisotropic microstructures in bulk fused silica,and the anisotropic structures at the same time modulate the generated continuum.

The effect of salt concentration on layer-by-layer deposition of poly（sodium 4-styrene sulfonate）（PSSS）/poly（vinylbenzyl trimethylammonium chloride）（PVTC） was investigated by use of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation （qCM-d）. The changes in frequency and dissipation demonstrate that the addition of NaC1 leads the thickness of PSSS/PVTC multilayer to increase. The deposition of PSSS/PVTC is dominated by surface charge overcompensation level at lower salt concentrations. However, it is mainly determined by the interpenetration of polyelectrolytes at a higher salt concentration, as reflected in the oscillation of dissipation change.

XRd,TEM,Ed,and NMR analyzed four types of blast furnace slags (BFS) with different structures in this paper. The composition requirement for phase separation in BFS glass phase was then put forward,that is the composition of slag locates in the coexisting phase region of melilite and any silicate mineral with q0 units. The special structure of melilite units,a 5-membered ring with high degree of polymerization (dOP),plays a key role in the formation of phase separation. In BFS system,one with chemical composition of larger ratio of (CaO + MgO/(SiO2 + Al2O3) would be more promising to meet the requirement for phase separation.

In this work,a novel friction stir diffusion bonding(FSdB)method was proposed to eliminate hook when joining thin *** tools,with several convex-vortex pins were innovatively designed to improve the diffusion bonding effect of the lap *** showed that sound joints,excellently bonded at the lap interface and without hook,were *** lap interfaces on the joints welded using the T-tool and F-tool almost remained intact,thereby indicating that they were formed by diffusion *** material flow behavior was also simulated by FLUENT software and the results showed that the material flow along thickness was significantly enhanced by increasing the pin *** joint welded by the T-tool showed shear fracture *** bonding was formed at the lap interface when using the F-tool and thus the joint showed tensile fracture.

The Precambrian greywacke of Ribandar-Chimbel belonging to the Sanvordem Formation of the Goa Group, India, has been studied for petrography and analyzed for major trace elements. The greywacke is characterized by angular to sub-round grains of quartz, feldspar, biotite, chlorite and clay minerals. The abundance of clay in the matrix seems to have influenced the Al2O3 content and the K20/Al2O3 ratio. The variation diagrams indicate a decreasing trend of TiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3 and MgO; whereas Na2O and CaO exhibit a scatter which could be a result of the variable presence of feldspar within the sediments. The immobile elements, vanadium （25 to 144 ppm）, nickel （up to 107 ppm） and chromium （up to 184 ppm）, reflect abundance of clay minerals. The greywacke shows strongly fractionated REE patterns with LaN/YbN = 8 to 26 and with higher total REE abundances （up to 245 ppm）. The low REE enrichment and depletion in heavier REE with prominent negative Eu anomaly （Eu/Eu^＊= 0.54 to 0.79） suggest a derivation of the greywacke from an old upper continental crust composed chiefly of felsic components. Petrological evidence and geochemical data suggest that the deposition of the greywacke largely took place in a deep to shallow basin that progressively chang- ed from that of a continental island arc to an active continental setting.

Hydroxyapatite/titania (HA/TiO2) double layers were coated onto Ti scaffolds throughout for orthopaedic applications by sol-gel method. differential scanning calorimetry (dSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TG) and X-ray diffractometry (XRd) were used for the characterisation of the phase transformations of the dried gels and coated surface structures. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with energy dispersive spectrometry (EdS) was used for the observation and evaluation of the morphology and phases of the surface layers and for the assessment of the in vitro tests. The in vitro assessments were performed by soaking the HA/TiO2 double coated samples into the simulated body fluid (SBF) for various periods. The TiO2 dipping-coating method at a speed of 12 cm/min, followed by a heat treatment at 600 ℃ for 20 min. The HA la lyaeyre wr wasa ssu cbosaetqeude bnytl ya dipping-coated on the outer surface at the same speed and then heat-treated at difference temperatures. The results indicat that the HA phase begins to crystallize after a heat treatment at 560 ℃. The crystallinity increases obviously at 760 ℃. SEM observations find no delamination or crack at the interfaces of HA/TiO2 and TiO2/Ti. The HA/TiO2 coated Ti scaffolds displays excellent bone-like apatite forming ability when it is soaked into SBF. The compositional design of metallic glasses(MGs)is a long-standing issue in materials science and ***,traditional experimental approaches based on empirical rules are time consuming with a low *** this work,we successfully developed a hybrid machine learning(ML)model to address this fundamental issue based on a database containing~5000 different compositions of metallic glasses(either bulk or ribbon)reported since *** the prior works relying on empirical parameters for featurization of data,we designed modeling guided data descriptors in line with the recent theoretical models on amorphization in chemically complex alloys for the development of the hybrid classification-regression ML *** hybrid ML modeling was validated both numerically and *** importantly,it enabled the discovery of MGs(either bulk or ribbon)through the ML-aided deep search of a multitude of quaternary to scenery alloy *** computational framework herein established is expected to accelerate the design of MG compositions and expand their applications by probing the complex and multi-dimensional compositional space that has never been explored before.

A novel oxalate compound {(H2en)(H3O)[BiPb(C2O4)4(H2O)2]?2(H2O)}n 1 (en = ethylenediamine) containing lead and bismuth has been synthesized by hydrothermal methods, and structurally characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffraction. It crystallizes in monoclinic, space group P21/c with a = 11.6160(1), b = 12.7426(1), c = 15.5683(5) ?, β = 108.442(4)o, BiPbC10N2O21H21, Mr = 921.46, V = 2186.0(4) ?3, Z = 4, dc = 2.800 g/cm3, F(000) = 1712 and μ(MoKα) = 15.837 mm-1. The final R = 0.0502 and wR = 0.1261 for 3391 observed reflections with I > 2σ(I). The title com- pound consists of 2-d polyanions and protonized organic amine cations, and they are combined to each other by static attractive force and H-bonds to form the so-called organic-inorganic hybrid material.
