Temperature and density asymmetry diagnosis is critical to advance inertial confinement fusion(ICF) science. A multimonochromatic x-ray imager, MMI, records the spectral signature from an ICF implosion core with time resolution, 2d spatial resolution and spectral resolution. While narrow-band images and 2d space-resolved spectra from the MMI data constrain the temperature and the density spatial structure of the core, the accuracy of the images and the spectra highly depends on the quality of the MMI data and the processing tools. Here, we synthetically investigate the criterion for reliable MMI diagnostics and its effects on the accuracy of the reconstructed images. The pinhole array tilt determines the object spatial sampling efficiency and the minimum reconstruction width, w. When the spectral width associated with w is significantly narrower than the spectral linewidth, the line images reconstructed from the MMI data become reliable. The MMI setup has to be optimized for every application to meet this criterion for reliable ICF diagnostics.

High-density single nucleotide polymorphism （SNP） genotyping arrays are powerful tools that can measure the level of genetic polymorphism within a population. To develop a whole-genome SNP array for oil palms, SNP discovery was performed using deep resequencing of eight libraries derived from 132 Elaeis guineen- sis and Elaeis oleifera palms belonging to 59 origins, resulting in the discovery of 〉3 million putative SNPs. After SNP filtering, the Illumina OP200K custom array was built with 170 860 successful probes. Phenetic clustering analysis revealed that the array could distinguish between palms of different origins in a way consistent with pedigree records. Genome-wide linkage disequilibrium declined more slowly for the commercial populations （ranging from 120 kb at r2 = 0.43 to 146 kb at r2 = 0.50） when compared with the semi-wild populations （19.5 kb at r2 = 0.22）. Genetic fixation mapping comparing the semi-wild and commercial population identified 321 selective sweeps. A genome-wide association study （GWAS） detected a significant peak on chromosome 2 associated with the polygenic component of the shell thick- ness trait （based on the trait shell-to-fruit; S/F %） in tenera palms. Testing of a genomic selection model on the same trait resulted in good prediction accuracy （r = 0.65） with 42% of the S/F % variation explained. The first high-density SNP genotyping array for oil palm has been developed and shown to be robust for use in genetic studies and with potential for developing early trait prediction to shorten the oil palm breeding cycle.

Idiopathic nondementing Parkinson’s disease (Pd) is marked by progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta and ventral tegmental area. Recent brain imaging work implicates these structures in dopamine modulated networks subserving episodic memory. These findings are of relevance to Pd because they suggest that dopamine depletion contributes to the disease-dependent decline in episodic memory, and therefore, this decline should, at least partially, be remediated by dopaminergic medication. Recognition memory (RM), recollection and familiarity during recognition was examined in 17 Pd patients, 12 of whom were medicated with a d2 dopamine agonist (pramipexole or ropinirole) and l-dopa, with a further 5 Pd control patients on l-dopa but no d2 agonist. Memory was tested “ON” and, following a period of medication withdrawal, “OFF” and compared to a group of 14 matched healthy volunteers (HV). The HVs were also tested twice in the absence of medication. The patients on the agonists Pd showed significant impairments in recollection ON- and OFF-medication, whereas the l-dopa control patients exhibited a decline in OFF-recollection only. RM and familiarity were spared in both groups ON- and OFF-medication. These findings suggest that d2 dopamine agonists (combined with l-dopa) contribute to disease-dependent episodic memory impairment.

This paper outlines a curriculum model for contemporary programme design for the purpose of embedding educational innovation and technology within an inter-professional nursing curriculum. It has been developed from work within the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Keele University during the re-write of both the nursing and midwifery curriculum. The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) require approval of all recordable programmes every five years and as such the school took this review as an opportunity to explore the curriculum model currently in use and develop an approach that would facilitate the professional requirements of the programme alongside the embedding of innovative learning and teaching methodologies. The model springs from extensive application of contemporary pedagogy underpinning adult learning, and forces consideration of cognitive alignment within a multi-modal delivery framework [1]. The model builds upon the early work of Fowler and.mayes [2] and later work of Bird [3] who explored the antecedents and underpinning theory for success within online learning experiences. This model has greater reach;having strategic fit for acontemporary “technology enhanced learning” application within further and higher education [4], whilst ensuring the achievement of given professional standards [5].
