This study tested whether osseous integration into poly(ε-caprolactone)(PCL)bioplastic scaffolds with fully-interconnecting 155±8μm pores is enhanced by an adhesive,non-inflammatory 99% degree of deacetylation(ddA)chitosan coating(99-PCL),or further incorporation of pro-inflammatory 83% ddA chitosan microparticles(83-99-PCL)to accelerate *** Zealand White rabbit osteochondral knee defects were press-fit with PCL,99-PCL,83-99-PCL,or allowed to bleed(drill-only).Between day 1 and 6 weeks of repair,drill-only defects repaired by endochondral ossification,with an 8-fold higher bone volume fraction(BVF)versus initial defects,compared to a 2-fold(99-PCL),1.1-fold(PCL),or 0.4-fold(83-99-PCL)change in *** innate immune cells swarmed to 83-99-PCL,elicited angiogenesis throughout the pores and induced slight bone *** and 99-PCL pores were variably filled with cartilage or avascular mesenchyme near the bone plate,or angiogenic mesenchyme into which repairing trabecular bone infiltrated up to 1 mm *** repair cartilage covered the 99-PCL scaffold(65%)than PCL(18%)or 83-99-PCL(0%)(pding that non-inflammatory chitosan coatings promoted cartilage infiltration into and over a bioplastic scaffold,and were compatible with trabecular bone *** study also revealed that in vitro osteogenesis assays have limited ability to predict osseous integration into porous scaffolds,because(1)in vivo,woven bone integrates from the leading edge of regenerating trabecular bone and not from mesenchymal cells adhering to scaffold surfaces,and(2)bioactive coatings that attract inflammatory cells induce bone resorption.

In this talk I report on recent work related to the dynamical generation of baryonic resonances, some made up from pseudoscalar meson-baryon, others from vector meson-baryon and a third type from two meson-one baryon systems. We can establish a correspondence with known baryonic resonances, reinforcing conclusions previously drawn and bringing new light on the nature of some baryonic resonances of higher mass.

mnGa films were grown by magnetron sputtering on thermally oxidized Si（Si/SiO2） and glass substrates. Films grown on single-crystal Si（100） substrate with different underlayers were prepared for comparison. It is found that the Si/SiO2 substrate is more suitable for growing high-coercivity mnGa films than the glass substrate, which is the result of the isolated-island-like growth. A coercivity of 9.7 kOe can be achieved for the 10 nm mnGa films grown on Si/SiO2 substrate at substrate temperature TS of 450 °*** experimental conditions are specified by changing the thickness of the mnGa films and the temperature of the substrates.

BACKGROUNd： Huntington＇s disease （Hd） is an autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disease causing severe neurodegeneration of the striatum as well as marked cognitive and motor disabilities. Excitotoxicity, caused by overstimulation of NmdA receptors （NmdARs） has been shown to have a key role in the neuropathogenesis of lid, suggesting that targeting NmdAR-dependent signaling may be an effective clinical approach for Hd. However, broad NmdAR antagonists are generally poor therapeutics in clinical practice. It has been suggested that GluN2A-containing, synaptically located NmdARs activate cell survival signaling pathways, while GluN2B-containing, primarily extrasynaptic NmdARs trigger cell death signaling. A better approach to development of effective therapeutics for Hd may be to target, specifically, the cell-death specific pathways associated with extrasynaptic GluN2B NmdAR activation, while maintaining or potentiating the cell- survival activity of GluN2A-NmdARs. OBJECTIVE： This review outlines the role of NmdAR-mediated excitotoxicity in Hd and overviews current efforts to develop better therapeutics for Hd where NmdAR excitotoxicity is the target. mETHOdS： A systematic review process was conducted using the Pubmed search engine focusing on research conducted in the past 5-10 years. 235 articles were consulted for the review, with key search terms including ＂Huntington＇s disease,＂＂excitotoxicity,＂＂NmdAR＂ and ＂therapeutics.＂ RESULTS： A wide range of NmdAR excitotoxicity-based targets for Hd were identified and reviewed, including targeting NmdARs directly by blocking GluN2B, extrasynaptic NmdARs and/or potentiating GluN2A, synaptic NmdARs, targeting glutamate release or uptake, or targeting specific downstream cell-death signaling of NmdARs. CONCLUSION： The current review identifies NmdAR-mediated excitotoxicity as a key player in Hd pathogenesis and points to various excitotoxicity-focused targets as potential future preventative therapeutics for Hd.

Seasonal Rainfall Forecasts for the Yangtze River Basin of China in Summer 2019 from an Improved Climate Service

Rainfall forecasts for the summer monsoon season in the Yangtze River basin(YRB) allow decision-makers to plan for possible flooding, which can affect the lives and livelihoods of millions of people. A trial climate service was developed in 2016, producing a prototype seasonal forecast product for use by stakeholders in the region, based on rainfall forecasts directly from a dynamical model. Here, we describe an improved service based on a simple statistical downscaling approach. Through using dynamical forecast of an East Asian summer monsoon(EASm) index, seasonal mean rainfall for the upper and middle/lower reaches of YRB can be forecast separately by use of the statistical downscaling, with significant skills for lead times of up to at least three months. The skill in different sub-basin regions of YRB varies with the target season. The rainfall forecast skill in the middle/lower reaches of YRB is significant in may–June–July(mJJ), and the forecast skill for rainfall in the upper reaches of YRB is significant in June–July–August(JJA). The mean rainfall for the basin as a whole can be skillfully forecast in both mJJ and JJA. The forecasts issued in 2019 gave good guidance for the enhanced rainfall in the mJJ period and the near-average conditions in JJA. Initial feedback from users in the basin suggests that the improved forecasts better meet their needs and will enable more robust decision-making.

The effect of phase angle and wing spacing on tandem flapping wings

In a tandem wing configuration, the hindwing of- ten operates in the wake of the forewing and, hence, its per- formance is affected by the vortices shed by the forewing. Changes in the phase angle between the flapping motions of the fore and the hind wings, as well as the spacing between them, can affect the resulting vortex/wing and vortex/vortex interactions. This study uses 2d numerical simulations to in- vestigate how these changes affect the leading dege vortexes （LEV） generated by the hindwing and the resulting effect on the lift and thrust coefficients as well as the efficiencies. The tandem wing configuration was simulated using an incom- pressible Navier-Stokes solver at a chord-based Reynolds number of 5 000. A harmonic single frequency sinusoidal oscillation consisting of a combined pitch and plunge motion was used for the flapping wing kinematics at a Strouhal num- ber of 0.3. Four different spacings ranging from 0.1 chords to 1 chord were tested at three different phase angles, 0°, 90° and 180°. It was found that changes in the spacing and phase angle affected the timing of the interaction between the vor- tex shed from the forewing and the hindwing. Such an inter- action affects the LEV formation on the hindwing and results in changes in aerodynamic force production and efficiencies of the hindwing. It is also observed that changing the phase angle has a similar effect as changing the spacing. The re- suits further show that at different spacings the peak force generation occurs at different phase angles, as do the peak efficiencies.

The mechanical properties and microstructure characteristics of a high speed steel (HSS) for roll has been studied. As compared with the as-cast HSS, the spray-formed HSS have fine grain and segregation free microstructures. Carbides distribute uniformly. The morphology and types of the carbides in spray-formed HSS are different from those in as-cast HSS. The results of the high temperature tensile experiment show that, as to spray-formed HSS, there is a possibility of superplastic deformation in the range of 780-810℃.
