Frost damage is one of the major concerns for crop growers as it can impact the growth of the plants and hence,*** detection of frost can help farmers mitigating its *** the past,frost detection was a manual or visual ***-based techniques are increasingly being used to understand frost development in plants and automatic assessment of damage resulting from *** research presents a comprehensive survey of the state-of the-art methods applied to detect and analyse frost stress in *** identify three broad computational learning approaches i.e.,statistical,traditional machine learning and deep learning,applied to images to detect and analyse frost in *** propose a novel taxonomy to classify the existing studies based on several *** taxonomy has been developed to classify the major characteristics of a significant body of published *** this survey,we profile 80 relevant papers based on the proposed *** thoroughly analyse and discuss the techniques used in the various approaches,i.e.,data acquisition,data preparation,feature extraction,computational learning,and *** summarise the current challenges and discuss the opportunities for future research and development in this area including in-field advanced artificial intelligence systems for real-time frost monitoring.

Phospholipase C zeta(PLCζ)is a sperm-specific protein that triggers oocyte *** analysis of PLCζexpression in human spermatozoa can be used as a diagnostic marker for oocyte activation *** laboratory has previously optimized a standard"in-house"assay to determine PLCζexpression in human ***,one study has suggested that an antigen unmasking method(AUM)would be more efficient in visualizing PLCζin human *** study aimed to compare our established assay and AUM(involving HCl,acidic Tyrode's solution[AT],and heat).The mean relative fluorescence(RF)intensity of PLCζin frozen-thawed spermatozoa from fourteen fertile donors stained with the in-house method was significantly higher than three other AUM groups(in-house[mean±standard error of mean]:18.87±2.39 arbitrary units[a.u.]vs non-AUM:11.44±1.61 a.u.,AT-AUM:12.38±1.89 a.u.,and HCl-AUM:12.51±2.16 a.u.,Pis of variance).The mean RF intensity of PLCζin AT-and HCl-treated spermatozoa from 12 infertile males was not significantly different from that of the non-AUM ***,the in-house method resulted in the highest RF intensity(12.11±1.36 a.u.,Pificity testing of antibody-antigen binding indicated that the in-house method showed more specific binding than spermatozoa treated by the *** conclusion,our in-house method showed superior visualization and reliability than the AUM,thus supporting the continued use of our in-house assay for clinical research screening.

A set of homogenized monthly mean surface air temperature （SAT） series at 32 stations in China back to the 19th century had previously been developed based on the RHtest method by Cao et al., but some inhomogeneities remained in the dataset. The present study produces a further-adjusted and updated dataset based on the Multiple Analysis of Series for Homogenization （MASH） method. The MASH procedure detects 33 monthly temperature records as erroneous outliers and 152 meaningful break points in the monthly SAT series since 1924 at 28 stations. The inhomogeneous parts are then adjusted relative to the latest homogeneous part of the series. The new data show significant warming trends during 1924-2016 at all the stations, ranging from 0.48 to 3.57℃ （100 yr）^-1, with a regional mean trend of 1.65℃ （100 yr）^-1 ; whereas, the previous results ranged from a slight cooling at two stations to considerable warming, up to 4.5℃ （100 yr）^-1. it is suggested that the further-adjusted data are a better representation of the large-scale pattern of climate change in the region for the past century. This study inventoried the floral diversity of a secondary forest in Tuba,Benguet,Philippines as affected by different intensities of human *** study is unique from other land use studies in Southeast Asia in having conventional farms as the most disturbed land use while other sites have oil palm plantations.A total of 267 species belonging to 222 genera and 78 families was *** showed that the level of human disturbance is the major factor affecting the floral diversity while the effect of elevation is *** level of human disturbance is significantly associated with species richness,species composition,dominant species and biodiversity *** human disturbance,as in the case of conventional farms,results in lower species richness,predominantly weed composition,dominant weed species and lower biodiversity *** the other hand,lesser human disturbance(as in the case of secondary forest)leads to higher species richness,greater native species composition,dominance of indigenous species,and higher diversity *** most disturbed land use experienced the greatest loss of species richness,change in floristic composition and vegetation structure,as well as a shift from native to alien-dominated plant *** results showed that the effect of land use change is not limited to species richness but also to species composition,dominant species and biodiversity ***,the study is an important baseline data for biodiversity conservation of the Marcos Highway Watershed Forest Reserve.

To control water impairment in urban storm- water, it is important to evaluate changing patterns of water quality parameters in stormwater runoff. Thus, the authors performed a series of experiments to investigate the dynamics of common water parameters during storm events in semi-arid areas, with multiple samples collected and analyzed in field stormwater applications. At this field monitoring site within McAuliffe Park, McAllen, Texas, in the United States, a storm event increased the concentra- tions of Escherichia coli （E. coli）, but this event represented a decreasing trend over the entire event period. Besides, peak intensity of different pollutants in the stormwater runoff occurred at different times other than at any peak flows, representing a complexity of the temporal and spatial measurements. Multi-sample per- event approaches recommended based on the complexity of the hydrograph and different peak intensity times of pollutants. in addition, high bacteria and total suspended solids （TSS） concentrations in the initial stage of the storm event should be considered when designing Best Manage- ment Practices （BMPs） and Low impact developments （Lids）. New strategies and solutions for addressing ecohydrological challenges should be proposed to avoid collateral damages to their both common wealth in ecosystems and human well-beings.

Although Ghana produces natural gas and has several gas reserves, the country still depends on supplies from neighbouring countries for power generation due to challenges like fuel supply inefficiencies and increasing cost of gas production. Gas supply is thus a limiting factor for power generation. This study explores strategies to improve gas supplies for sustainable power generation in Ghana. The study examined the underlying factors inhibiting gas supplies in Ghana, investigated the risks in the gas supply industry, and explored strategies for improving gas supplies in Ghana. The study adopted an inductive approach that utilises both qualitative and quantitative research methods. With the use of questionnaires, data were collected from 151 respondents who were selected by purposive and snowball sampling procedures. The collected data were descriptively and inferentially analysed with analytical tools in the SPSS. The study’ily:Verdana;">s findings conclude that factors that inhibit gas supply in Ghana include the lack of growth and supply investment in the gas supply industry, power sector debt on the gas market, and the lack of an extensive distribution infrastructure/network. Also, the gas industry in Ghana lacks the requisite investment drive which culminates into inefficiency and ultimately undermines efforts to achieve sustainable power generation. Politics influence in issues relating to gas supplies in Ghana inhibits long-term supply relationships and permanent infrastructure in gas supply, both locally and on the world market.
