This paper focuses on the relationship between the microstructure and tensile properties of Fe-Mn-Al-C low-density high-strength steel processes by hot-rolling and air-cooling process. The microstructure analysis reveals that the combination of hot-rolling and air-cooling results in the formation of heterogeneous structures comprising different-sized γ and B_(2) phases in the low-density steel with the addition of nickel (Ni). The addition of Ni promotes the formation of the B_(2) phase and induces the pinning of B_(2) phase particles at the γ grain boundaries. This pinning effect effectively hinders the growth of the γ grains, leading to grain refinement. The tensile test results demonstrate that LdS-5Ni (low-density steel, LdS) exhibits excellent high strength and ductility combination, e.g., a tensile strength of 1535 MPa, yield strength of 1482 MPa, and elongation of 23.3%. These remarkable mechanical properties are primarily attributed to the combined strengthening contributions of grain refinement and duplex nano-sized second-phase precipitation hardening.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the most common causes of cancerrelated *** particular type of cancer has the distinctive characteristic of mostly happening in individuals with an underlying liver *** makes the management of patients more challenging,since physicians must take into consideration two different conditions,the chronic liver disease and the *** underlying liver disease has several implications in clinical practice,because different kinds of chronic liver disease can lead to varying degrees of risk of developing HCC,obstacles in surveillance,and differences in the efficacy of the treatment against HCC.A shift in the prevalence of liver diseases has been evident over the last few years,with viral hepatitis gradually losing the leading position as cause of HCC and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease gaining ***,in an era of personalized medicine,it is imperative that physicians are aware of the underlying liver disease of individuals with HCC and its impact in the management of their tumors.

Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica(CNEA) has the responsibility for restoring uranium mining facilities once the operations have finished. CNEA, within its Environmental Program and in compliance with its legal responsibilities, decides to implement a restoration project for all sites related to the mining and processing of uranium ores. The Malargüe Site is located within the Province of Mendoza in the city of Malargüe. It is the first site to successfully complete its remediation. The activities consist of relocation of tailings to an engineering repository. The tailings management(encapsulation) and rehabilitation of the area was finished in June 2017. The remediation alternative for the ore tailings was selected after conducting comparative studies and submitted the project to the society for consideration. The objective of the encapsulation of the mineral tails is to isolate them from the environment, also proceeding with the decontamination and rehabilitation of the area(landscaping,post-closure monitoring and 20 years monitoring period). Encapsulation consisted of the construction of a containment cell for the mine tailings, to isolate them and prevent pollutants from entering the environment through the transfer routes. To clean the impacted areas, the soil was removed, it was incorporated into the encapsulation, and the filling was carried out with natural soils from the *** prevents radon transfer to the environment, as 222Ra is an alpha emitter with a half-life of four days, which produces its own radioactive progeny. Radon progeny are solids, and when a 222Ra nucleus emits an alpha particle into the air, the resulting 218Po nucleus, momentarily electrically charged, adheres to any dust particle. Remediation prevents the discharge into the air containing radon and also containing dust particles charged with intensely radioactive radon progeny. Numerous researchers have examined the co-current flow of oil-water and aqueous solutions containing polymers and surfactants in thin gaps for oil *** some have focused on charges and forces at the interfaces of oil-surfactant solutions during *** study of flow structures,interface behavior,and relative permeabilities of oil and aqueous phases of surfactant flow through thin gaps has been less *** the first time,this research aims to comprehensively investigate the flow of oil-water and oil-surfactant solutions through a thin gap(Hele-Shaw cell)with a particular focus on the impact of sodium dodecyl sulfate(SdS).The experiments reveal that SdS forms an emulsion near the oil-water interface,capturing oil droplets and enabling their flow along with the SdS *** studies confirm this,showing that when SdS contacts oil,it creates channels through the oil phase,leading to the accumulation and division of oil into small round-shaped droplets,resulting in an oil-in-water *** addition of SdS to the injecting water significantly enhances relative permeabilities,leading to a remarkable 90%increase in oil recovery from the *** research suggests that the optimal SdS concentration range for maximum oil recovery is between 1.5 and 2 wt%,as it achieves the minimum interfacial tension between oil and water.

The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants(POPs)is a legally binding instrument for 186 Parties(status:April 2023).Accordingly,among other responsibilities,countries are obliged to report the production,import,or export of the POPs listed in Annexes A,B,or C;provide information to registers;maintain inventories;and monitor the presence of POPs in the *** the broader context of international chemicals and waste management,producer responsibilities,harmonized reporting,and compliance with national and international regulations,Ecuador has addressed the newly listed group of perfluorinated alkyl substances(PFAS)in its national implementation plan and sent selected products from its national market for PFAS *** products analyzed came from the initially listed fields of specific exemptions and acceptable purposes,including:fire-fighting foams;photographic aids;greasers/degreasers;various kinds of paper/packaging;textiles;and leather,coatings,cleaners,metal plating,and *** results showed that the three PFAS presently listed in the Stockholm Convention could be quantified in only a few samples;additional PFAS,not yet listed in the Convention also had low detection *** the number of samples was limited,the samples covered a large spectrum of sample matrices,making it possible to conclude that—once these products become waste and are regulated under the Basel Convention—they would not constitute a disposal ***,verification of the presence of PFAS in products on the market is expected to pose an analytical challenge for both,developed and developing countries.

Although many causes of Alzheimer’s disease(Ad)may exist,both the original amyloid cascade and tau hypotheses posit that abnormal misfolding and accumulation of amyloid-β(Aβ)and tau protein is the central event causing the ***,that conclusion could be only partly true,and there is conflicting evidence about the role of both proteins in Ad,being able to precede and influence one *** researchers argue that these proteins are mere executors rather than primary causes of ***,there have been continuing refinements of both hypotheses,with alternative explanations proposed.Aβand tau proteins may be independently involved in specific neurotoxic pathways;yet there may be other crucial processes going on in early ***,accumulating evidence suggests that Aβand tau act synergistically,rather than additively in disease onset(Jeremic et al.,2021,2023a).

Competitive interactions and coexistence of sympatric flagship carnivores in Asia

Understanding the competition and coexistence of flagship carnivores is key to creating strategies for their conservation in the face of global carnivore *** studies exploring the dynamics and competition between tigers(Panthera tigris)and leopards(***)span decades,there is a lack of understanding regarding the factors that influence their coexistence mechanisms on a broad scale,as well as the drivers determining their exploitative and interference *** gathered a comprehensive list of research papers among which 36 papers explored the interspecific interactions between tigers and leopards and tested the influence of biotic and abiotic factors on the coexistence mechanisms along three dimensions using multiple response variables regression models;we also tested the influence of ecological drivers determining the exploitative or interference competition between tigers and *** and ungulate density were the most important predictors in regulating the coexistence *** and leopards exhibited more positive relations/higher overlaps as elevation increased in the spatial *** addition,they showed a higher dietary overlap in the prey-rich *** determined that interference competition between tigers and leopards was less frequently observed in habitats with dense tree cover and homogeneous vegetation ***,studies with multiple metrics would promote the detection of interference *** study provides new insight into the competitive interactions and coexistence mechanisms of tigers and leopards on a broad ***-makers and managers should pay more attention to the factors of elevation,prey abundance,and habitat structures for the conservation of tigers and leopards.
