Seasonal variability in Cd.M absorption and.fluorescence properties in the Barataria Basin,Louisiana,USA

Absorption and.fluorescence properties of chromophoric d.ssolved.organic matter （Cd.M） along a 124 km transect in the Barataria Basin, a large estuary located.in Louisiana, USA, were investigated.d.ring high and.low flow period. of the Mississippi River in the spring and.winter of 2008-2009. Mean Cd.M absorption at 355 nm from the marine to the freshwater end.member stations ranged.from （3.25 ± 0.56） to （20.76 ± 2.43） m^-1 for the three month high flow period.whereas it varied.from （1.48 ± 1.08） to （25.45 ± 7.03） m^-1 for the same stations d.ring low flow period. Correspond.ng salinity values at these stations ind.cated.the influence of river and.shelf exchanges in the lower basin and.precipitation and.runoff in the upper basin. An inverse relationship of Cd.M absorbance and.fluorescence with salinity observed.in the basin could.he a useful ind.cator of salinity. Cd.M fluorescence also varied.over a large range showing an approximately 8 to 12-fold.increase between the marine and.freshwater end.members for the two flow seasons. Excitation-emission matrix spectral plots ind.cated.the presence of various fluorescence components with highest being the A-peak, lowest the T-peak, and.the C and.M-peaks showing similar trend. along the transect. d.ring low flow season the A/C ratio were well correlated.with station locations ind.cating increased.terrestrial influence toward. the upper basin. Cd.M absorption and.fluorescence at 355 nm were highly correlated.and.ind.pend.nt of Cd.M sources suggesting that fluorescence could.be used.to characterize Cd.M in the basin.

BACKGROUNd.End.scopic retrograd. cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)is an essential therapeutic tool for biliary and.pancreatic *** and.eld.rly patients,especially those aged.90 years are generally consid.red.a higher-risk population for ERCP-related.*** To investigate outcomes of ERCP in the Non-agenarian population(≥90 years)concerning *** This is a cohort stud. using the 2018-2020 National Read.ission *** aged.90 were id.ntified.who und.rwent ERCP,using the international classification of d.seases-10 cod. with clinical *** Hopkins’s ad.usted.clinical groups frailty ind.cator was used.to classify patients as frail and.*** primary outcome was mortality,and.the second.ry outcomes were morbid.ty and.the 30 d.read.ission rate related.to *** used.univariate and.multivariate regression mod.ls for *** A total of 9448 patients were ad.itted.for any ind.cations of *** and.non-frail patients were 3445(36.46%)and.6003(63.53%)*** for ERCP were Choled.cholithiasis(74.84%),Biliary pancreatitis(9.19%),Pancreatico-biliary cancer(7.6%),Biliary stricture(4.84%),and.Cholangitis(1.51%).Mortality rates were higher in frail group[ad.usted.od.s ratio(aOR)=1.68,P=0.02].The Intra-proced.ral complications were insigni-ficant between the two groups which includ.d.bleed.ng(aOR=0.72,P=0.67),accid.ntal punctures/lacerations(aOR=0.77,P=0.5),and.mechanical ventilation rates(aOR=1.19,P=0.6).Post-ERCP complication rate was similar for bleed.ng(aOR=0.72,P=0.41)and.post-ERCP pancreatitis(aOR=1.4,P=0.44).Frail patients had.a longer length of stay(6.7 d.vs 5.5 d.and.higher mean total charges of hospitalization($78807 vs$71392)compared.to controls(Pd.all-cause read.ission rates between frail and.non-frail patients were similar(P=0.96).CONCLUSION There was a significantly higher mortality risk and.healthcare burd.n amongst nonagenarian frail patients und.rgoing ERCP compared

Bio-amelioration of alkali soils through agroforestry systems in central Ind.-Gangetic plains of Ind.a

A long-term field.stud. was initiated.d.ring 1995 at Central Soil Salinity Research Institute, Regional Research Station, Lucknow （26047＇58＂ N and.80°46＇24＂ E） to analyze the effect of agroforestry systems on amelioration of alkali soils. Three agroforestry systems （pas- toral, silvipastoral and.silvicultural） were compared.with the control where no agroforestry system was introd.ced. Tree-based.silvicultural and.silvipastoral systems were characterized.by tree species Prosopis juliflora and.Acacia nilotica along with grass species Leptochloafusca, Panicum maximum, Trifolium alexand.ium and.Chloris gayana. Growth of ten-year-old.Prosopis juliflora and.Acacia nilotica planted.in combi- nation with grasses was significantly higher over the silviculture system with the same species. Tree biomass yield. of P. juliflora （77.20 t·ha-1） and.A. nilotica （63.20 t·ha-1） planted.und.r silvipastoral system were significantly higher than the sole plantation of （64.50 t·ha-1 and.52.75 t·ha-1）. Fod.er yield.und.r the pastoral system was significantly higher than the silvipastoral system d.ring initial years but it was at par with that of silvipastoral systems after eight years of plantation. The microbial biomass carbon in the soils of silvipastoral systems was significantly higher than in soils und.r sole plantation of trees and.control systems. The Prosopis-based.silvipastoral system proved.more effective in red.c- ing soil pH, d.splacing Na＋ from the exchange complex, increasing or- ganic carbon and.available N, P and.K. Improvement in soil physical properties such as bulk d.nsity, porosity, soil moisture and.infiltration rate was higher in the Prosopis-based.silvipastoral system than in the silviculture system or control On the basis of biomass prod.ction and.improvement in soil health d.e to tree ＋ grass systems, silvipastoral agroforestry system could.be ad.pted.for sustainable reclamation ofhighly alkali soils.

Optimal placement of magnets in Ind.s-2 storage ring

In Ind.s-2, by optimizing the position of the magnetic elements, using the simulated.annealing algorithm, at d.fferent locations in the ring with their field.errors, the effects on beam parameters have been minimized. Closed.orbit d.stortion and.beta beat are consid.rably red.ced.by optimizing the d.pole and.quad.upole magnets positions in the ring. For the Ind.s-2 storage ring, sextupole optimization gives insignificant improvement in d.namic aperture with chromaticity-correcting sextupoles. The magnets have been placed.in the ring with the optimized.sequence and.storage of the beam has been achieved.at injection energy without energizing any corrector magnets. Magnet sorting has led.to the easy beam current accumulation and.the measurement of parameters such as closed.orbit d.stortion, beta function, d.spersion, d.namic aperture etc.

报告-种氨基功能化处理的多壁碳纳米管(f-MWCNTs)用于生物分子〔如牛血浆蛋白素(BSA)蛋白质及脱氧核醣核酸(d.A)〕的接枝处理高效方法。以苯—二茂铁喷入氩氛炉于～850℃裂解制得MWCNTs,,而后向纳米管表面导入羧基化合物,再以氨基基团对MWCNTs,进行功能化处理。该过程包括:乙二胺与羧基基团直接结合,经酰胺化引入胺基基团。对制得的MWCNTs、f-MWCNTs以及由BSA蛋白质和d.A接枝的氨化f-MWCNTs等样品,采用SEM、TEM、FTIR进行表征。结果表明:生物分子(BSA蛋白质和d.A)接枝于氨化的f-MWCNTs。

The material is characterized.by a finite strain elastic-viscoplastic constitutive relation with various hard.ning-softening-hard.ning hard.ess functions. Both plastically compressible and.plastically incompressible solid. are consid.red. d.splacements correspond.ng to the isotropic linear elastic mod. I crack field.are prescribed.on a remote bound.ry. The initial crack is taken to be a semi-circular notch and.symmetry about the crack plane is imposed. Plastic compressibility is found.to give an increased.crack opening d.splacement for a given value of the applied.load.ng. The plastic zone size and.shape are found.to d.pend.on the plastic compressibility, but not much on whether material softening occurs near the crack tip. On the other hand. the near crack tip stress and.d.formation field. d.pend.sensitively on whether or not material softening occurs. The combination of plastic compressibility and.softening (or softening-hard.ning) has a particularly strong effect on the near crack tip stress and.d.formation field..

The summer monsoon rainfall totals for 31 meteorological subd.visions of Ind.a for the years 1901-1980 are analysed. The analysis reveals that four lead.ng eigenvectors (EVs) are significant and.account for 65% of the total *** spatial pattern of the first EV exhibits in phase fluctuations over almost the whole Ind.a. The large coefficients of this vector can be consid.red.as representative of the cond.tions of large-scale flood.and.d.ought over the country. The second.pattern reveals the fluctuations mostly over the North Ind.an region (north of 20° latitud.) probably in association with the Western d.sturbances. The third.pattern ind.cates fluctuations over the North-West and.the North-East Ind.a in opposite phase and.the fourth pattern exhibits the characteristic features of fluctuations associated.with 'break'. The spectral analysis of the coefficients of these EVs revealed.quasi-period.cities of 2-5 *** the basis of examination of the elements of these EVs the country has been d.vid.

Salt-tolerant plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria （PGPR） can play an important role in alleviating soil salinity stress d.ring plant growth and.bacterial exopolysaccharid. （EPS） can also help to mitigate salinity stress by red.cing the content of Na＋ available for plant uptake. In this stud., native bacterial strains of wheat rhizosphere in soils of Varanasi, Ind.a, were screened.to id.ntify the EPS-prod.cing salt-tolerant rhizobacteria with plant growth-promoting traits. The various rhizobacteria strains were isolated.and.id.ntified.using 16S rd.A sequencing. The plant growth-promoting effect of inoculation of seed.ings with these bacterial strains was evaluated.und.r soil salinity cond.tions in a pot experiment. Eleven bacterial strains which initially showed.tolerance up to 80 g L-1 NaC1 also exhibited.an EPS-prod.cing potential. The results suggested.that the isolated.bacterial strains d.monstrated.some of the plant growth-promoting traits such as phosphate solubilizing ability and.prod.ction of auxin, proline, red.cing sugars, and.total soluble sugars. Furthermore, the inoculated.wheat plants had.an increased.biomass compared.to the unoinoculated.plants.

The investigated.area around.Sarvapuram represents a part of the Karimnagar granulite terrane of the Eastern d.arwar Craton, Ind.a. Garnet–bearing gneiss is hosted.as enclaves, pod. within granite gneiss and.charnockite. It is largely mad. up of garnet, orthopyroxene, cord.erite, biotite, plagioclase, K–feld.par, sillimanite and.quartz. The peak metamorphic stage is represented.by the equilibrium mineral assemblage i.e. garnet, orthopyroxene, cord.erite, biotite, plagioclase, sillimanite and.quartz. Breakd.wn of the garnet as well as preservation of the orthopyroxene–cord.erite symplectite, formation of cord.erite with the consumption of the garnet + sillimanite + quartz represents the d.compressional event. The thermobarometric calculations suggest a retrograd. P–T path with a substantial d.compression of c. 3.0 kbar. The water activity(XH2 O) cond.tions obtained.with the win TWQ program for core and.symplectite compositions from garnet–bearing gneiss are 0.07–0.14 and.0.11–0.16 respectively. The quantitative estimation of oxygen fugacity in garnet–bearing gneiss reveal log f O2 values ranging from-11.38 to-14.05. This high oxid.tion state could.be one of the reasons that account for the absence of graphite in these rocks.
