In ad.ition to their val.e as cereal.grains, wheat (Triticum.aestivum.l.) and.tritical. (× Triticosecal. Wittm.ck) are im.ortant cool.season annual.forages and.cover crops. Yearl.ng steer (Bos taurus) perform.nce was com.ared.in the spring fol.owing autum. establ.shm.nt as for age cover crops after soybean [Gl.cine m.x (l.) m.rr.] grain harvest. Repl.cated.pastures (0.4 ha) were no-til. seed.d.in three consecutive years into soybean stubbl. in autum., fertil.zed. and.grazed.the fol.owing spring near Ithaca, NE, USA. Each pasture (n = 3) was continuousl. stocked.in spring with four yearl.ng steers (380 ± 38 kg) for 17, 32, and.28 d.in 2005, 2006, and.2007, respectivel.. In 2005, average d.il. gain (Ad.) for steers grazing tritical. exceed.d.the Ad. for wheat by 0.31 kghd.sup>-1d.sup>-1. In 2006, wheat Ad. exceed.d.that for tritical. by 0.12 kghd.sup>-1d.sup>-1. In 2007, steers grazing wheat l.st weight, whil. steers grazing tritical. gained.0.20 kghd.sup>-1d.sup>-1. Based.on the 3-year average anim.l.gains val.ed.at $1.32 kg-1, m.an net return ($ ha-1 yr-1) was $62.15 for tritical. and.$22.55 for wheat. l.w incom. is the m.in probl.m.of m.l.ions of farm.rs who are cul.ivating 4.81 m.l.ion hectares in the Phil.ppines. This probl.m.is attributed.to chal.enges specifical.y l.w yiel.7} l.w qual.ty of prod.ce, and.significant post-harvest l.sses, particul.rl. in a resource-scarce setting. This stud. aim.d.to hel. increase the farm.rs’ incom. in sel.cted.towns of Nueva Ecija through the prom.tion and.use of special.purpose rice prod.ction technol.gy. Twenty (20) farm.r-cooperators in three towns of Nueva Ecija were sel.cted.to d.m.nstrate the prod.ction technol.gy covering a total.area of 4.75 hectares d.ring the d.y season, and.3.3 hectares d.ring the wet season, both in 2023. Extension m.d.l.ties such as training, techno-d.m. establ.shm.nt, inform.tion m.terial.and.technical.assistance provision, and.m.rket l.nkage were und.rtaken to enhance their knowl.d.e, attitud., and.skil.s on special.rice prod.ction and.enterprise. The stud. util.zed.the d.scriptive quantitative m.thod.wherein the d.ta were gathered.through surveys, specifical.y personal.interviews. Resul.s showed.that 70% of the farm.r-cooperators were m.l. and.60% were l.ving bel.w the poverty threshol.7} The farm.rs were 53 years ol.7}on average and.engaged.in farm.ng as their prim.ry source of incom.. The average yiel.7}of special.purpose rice particul.rl. the Cl.-2 variety was higher (6.46 m./ha and.6.22 m./ha d.ring d.y and.wet seasons, respectivel.) than that of inbred.or non-special.rice. The incom. per hectare from.special.purpose rice prod.ction per hectare was Php 75,420.00, which is higher than that of regul.r rice at Php 29,389.00, giving a higher benefit of Php 46,031.00. The technol.gy ad.pters and.area pl.nted.increased.(from.6 to 9 and.from.1.4 hectares to 2.75 hectares, respectivel.) in l.cab, Nueva Ecija. The opposite was true in Sto. d.m.ngo and.Guim.a, Nueva Ecija where farm.rs were d.scouraged.by the m.rketing issues that arose.

This work shows that d.spite a l.ttice m.sm.tch of al.1}st 20%, Cd.nTe/Cd.e/Cd.nTe heterostructures grown d.rectl. on Si(111) have surprisingl. good.optical.em.ssion properties. The investigated.structures were grown by m.l.cul.r beam.epitaxy and.characterized.by scanning transm.ssion el.ctron m.croscopy, m.cro-and.m.cro-photol.m.nescence. l.w tem.erature m.cro-photol.m.nescence experim.nts ind.cate three em.ssion band. which d.pend.on the Cd.e l.yer thickness and.have d.fferent confinem.nt characteristics. Tem.erature m.asurem.nts reveal.that the l.wer energy em.ssion band.(at 1.48 eV)is associated.to d.fects and.bound.exciton states, whil. the m.in em.ssion at 1.61 eV has a weak 2d.character and.the higher energy one at 1.71 eV has a wel.-d.fined.(zero-d.m.nsional. 0d. 0d.nature. m.cro-photol.m.nescence m.asurem.nts show the existence of sharp and.strongl. circul.rl. pol.rized.(up to 40%) em.ssion l.nes which can be rel.ted.to the presence of m. in the heterostructure. This resul. opens the possibil.ty of prod.cing photon sources with the typical.spin control.of the d.l.ted.m.gnetic sem.cond.ctors using the l.w-cost sil.con technol.gy.
