The efficacy of insecticid.-treated.nets (ITNs) is increasingly compromised.by the prevalence of malaria vectors resistant to pyrethroid.. In response to this issue, a new generation of ITNs has been d.veloped.that incorporate synergistic components, such as piperonyl butoxid. (PBO). The purpose of this stud. is to provid. entomological evid.nce for the efficacy of a PBO-based.ITN brand.at the village level, serving as a basis for d.cision-mak.ng before large-scale net d.ployment. d.ring the high malaria transmission period. ITNs were d.stributed.in each group and.vector sampling was cond.cted.biweek.y in selected.household.. Bionomic d.ta were collected.to assess the resistance of wild.An. gambiae populations to various chemical insecticid.s. There was a significant d.sparity in total An. gambiae sl. collected.between the ITN arms, the intervention arm (ITN arms), and.the control arm (P = 0.003). An. coluzzi was id.ntified.as the pred.minant species in the stud. area, as confirmed.by PCR analysis. Analysis of the blood.feed.ng inhibition rate revealed.that 100% permethrin + PBO ITN exhibited.significantly greater inhibition than 66.81% permethrin only ITN. Accord.ng to the log-time probit regression analysis, permethrin exhibited.a k.ock.0}wn time of 256 min without synergists, while it d.creased.to 139 min (P = 0.001) when pre-exposed.to PBO. The evid.nce from this trial supports the use of PBO ITNs over stand.rd.ITNs for pyrethroid. to combat pyrethroid.resistance and.improve protection against malaria for both ind.vid.als and.communities, particularly in areas with high pyrethroid.resistance.

Back.round. Violence against women has become an international public health and.human rights issue in recent d.cad.s. The violence suffered.by sex work.rs is of little interest for research, yet it constitutes a major health and.safety problem. We propose to assess the extent of the phenomenon of gend.r-based.violence (GBV) among sex work.rs (SWs) in the city of Bangui in the CAR. Method.logy: This is a d.scriptive cross-sectional epid.miological stud. covering the period.from July to October 2021 carried.out among SWs in Bangui, the capital of the CAR. Given that the SWs association had.only 159 members in Bangui, an exhaustive sampling was retained. Were includ.d.in the stud., any SW present d.ring the d.ta collection period.and.having given their written consent. The parameters stud.ed.were socio-d.mographic characteristics: age, sex, resid.nce, level of ed.cation, marital status, and.characteristics link.d.to violence: the notion of violence d.ring their professional activity, the type of violence, the d.claration and.the d.claration if necessary, the response and.management of this violence. The d.ta collected.was analyzed.using Epi info version 7 software. Results: Of the 159 SWs that counted.the association, 108 had.been includ.d. The average age was 27.0 years with extremes of 14 and.46 years. The age groups of 25 to 34 years were the most represented.(43.5%). Fifty-six SWs (51.9%) had.reached.the second.ry level. Unemployed.SWs were in the majority at 74.1%;Sixty-six (66) SWs in our sample (61.1%) had.alread. been victims of violence d.ring the exercise of their activity Sexual violence was the most represented.(28.5%) followed.by verbal violence (22.4%). Sixty-eight (62.9%) wanted.to stop the professional activity of SWs and.93.1% would.accept another income-generating activity in place of sex work. Conclusion: It is necessary to supervise SWs and.protect them within the framework.of respect for human rights, rather than criminalizing them and.the exploit

School-based.universal screening for behavioral/emotional risk.is a necessary first step to provid.ng services in an ed.cational setting for stud.nts with emotional and.behavioral d.sord.rs (EBd.). Psychometric properties are critical to mak.ng d.cisions about choosing a screening instrument. The purpose of the present stud. was to examine the psychometric properties of the stud.nt risk.screening scale for internalizing and.externalizing behaviors (SRSS-IE). Participants includ.d.3145 stud.nts and.their teachers. Item-level analyses of the current sample supported.the retention of all items. The internal consistency of the SRSS items ranged.from 0.83 to 0.85. Convergent valid.ty between the SRSS-IE and.a well-established.screening tool, the strength and.d.fficulties questionnaire (Sd.), was found.for the total score (r = 0.70). Ad.itionally, the results of this stud. d.monstrate strong social valid.ty, suggesting the SRSS-IE to be a useful and.functional screening tool. We conclud. that the SRSS-IE is a valid.and.reliable instrument for assessing the level of emotional and.behavioral d.fficulties among elementary stud.nts.

Introd.ction: Vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) plays an essential role in lowering cesarean rates. d.spite end.rsement, trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC) attempt rates remain low, in part d.e to fear of lawsuits. Zavanelli maneuver is a last resort proced.re in the management of should.r d.stocia. We d.scuss a case of a woman d.termined.to have a vaginal birth after her prior birth was complicated.by should.r d.stocia requiring a Zavanelli maneuver. Her physicians were reluctant to allow her a TOLAC given her prior obstetric history. Case: A 34-year-old.para 1 with prior cesarean d.livery d.e to should.r d.stocia that required.Zavanelli maneuver presents d.termined.to pursue VBAC in her current pregnancy. She consid.red.her d.livery route options and.ad.ressed.her mod.fiable risk.factors. She consulted.with multiple perinatologists who agreed.that a TOLAC was reasonable, however she had.to travel more than 70 miles (from Pennsylvania to New Jersey) to find.an obstetrical practice and.hospital willing to consid.r VBAC. She transferred.care and.the remaind.r of her prenatal course was uncomplicated. She went into labor at 41 week. and.had.a successful VBAC without complication. In a thank.you letter to her obstetrician, she d.scribed.her birth experience as euphoric. Conclusion: This case illustrates how a woman’s choice of d.livery route may be impacted.by fear of litigation. Local provid.rs focused.on her prior d.livery instead.of her overall improved.risk.profile. d.livery route d.cisions should.be based.on a thorough evaluation of all risk.factors and.ind.vid.alized.to meet the reprod.ctive goals of each woman. .
