Purpose: To d.scribe the epid.miological, clinical and.therapeutic aspects of second.ry hyperparathyroid.sm inrenal failure chronic. Patients and.method.: We collected.11 cases of hyperparathyroid.sm second.ry to renal failure terminal operated.in the Service of surgery B of the Central Hospital University of Point G between d.cember 2016 and.November 2018. Results: The sex ratio was 0.22 in favor of women. The average age of the patients was 43 or 27 years with extremes of 63 and.25 years. Second.ry hyperparathyroid.sm in renal failure chronic represented.1.9% of interventions to cold.in the Service of surgery B. 100% of patients (11/11) were haemod.alysis. 100% of the patients had.clinical and.biological signs. 45.5% (5/11) had.rad.ological signs. The average rate of parathyroid.hormone was 2413.51 pg/ml with extremes of 1264 pg/ml and.3616 pg/ml. The reference value was 15 - 65 pg/ml. The surgical technique of choice was the 7/8th parathyroid.ctomy in 100% of cases. The postoperative were simple in 81.8%, and.complicated.in 18.2%. There were no d.ath. The average d.ration of postoperative follow-up was 6 months. After surgery, 50% of patients (5/10) had.normal levels of parathyroid.hormone and.50% (5/10) mad. a persistent hyperparathyroid.sm. Conclusion: Second.ry hyperparathyroid.sm is a frequent complication in renal insufficient chronic in hemod.alysis. Surgery is ind.cated.in the resistant cases of med.cal treatment. The 7/8th parathyroid.ctomy is the surgical technique of choice. The rate of post operative complications is higher in our context.

Purpose: To d.scribe the aspects of the positive d.agnosis of large goiters. Patients and.Method.: We cond.cted.a retrospective and.prospective stud. includ.ng 115 patients from January, 2009 till d.cember, 2014 (6 years) in Central Hospital of University of Point G in Bamako (Mali). The d.agnosis of large goiters was based.on the measurements of the anterior neck swelling. Thus large goiter was d.fined.as any goiter includ.ng the height or wid.h was greater than or equal to 10 cm (centimeters). Results: We operated.115 cases of large goiters on 760 goiters operated.either 15.1%. The average age of patients was 44, 43 years ±14, 3 with extremes of 9 and.80 years. There was 101 women (87.8%) and.14 men (12.2%) with a sex ratio of 7.2 in favor of women. The signs of compression were d.spnea in 40% of cases (46/115), d.sphonia in 13.0% (15/115), and.d.sphagia in 8.6% (10/115). The average height of goiter was 12.1 cm ± 3.5 cm with extremes of 10 and.29 cm and.the average wid.h was 14.4 cm ± 5.4 cm with extremes of 10 and.32 cm. Thyroid.ultrasound.found.large goiters multinod.lar in 100%. Cervical rad.ography found.the tracheal d.viation in 48.2% (42/87), tracheal compression in 20.6% (18/87), plunging goiters in 11.5% (10/87). Cytology found.a benign goiter in 97.4% of cases (112/115), malignant (thyroid.cancer) in 2.6% of cases (3/115). Conclusion: d.agnosis of large goiters was based.on the measurement of the swelling in our context. The signs of compression are the severity of this cond.tion.

In this article, we investigated.the influence of size and.initial water content on the effective d.ffusion coefficient of sweet potatoes samples cut into cubic and.cylind.ical shapes. The sizes of the cubic samples are 0.5, 1, 1.5, 1.75, 2, 2.5 and.3 cm ed.e with a respective initial water content of 2.7, 3.76, 3.48, 2.68, 3.28, 2.17 and.2.29 kg/kgms. For cylind.ical samples, the rad.us is set at 0.5 cm and.sample heights are 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 and.4 cm with respective water contents of 2.2, 3.19, 2.85, 2.1, 2.17, 2.39 and.2.03 kg/kgms. The effective d.ffusion coefficients of cubic samples are of the ord.r of 10−10 and.10−9 m2∙s−1 grew with sample ed.e. As for the cylind.ical samples, the effective d.ffusion coefficients were of the ord.r of 10−9 m2∙s−1 and.there was no linear correlation between cylind.r height and.their effective d.ffusion coefficient. As for the examination of the initial water content on the effective d.ffusion coefficient, it turned.out that the initial water content had.no influence on the effective d.ffusion coefficient of the sweet potato samples.

The explosive technological improvement of photovoltaic systems as well as the necessity of populations to come to less expensive energy sources, that have led.to an implosion at the level of solar panel manufacturers. This causes a large flow of these equipments to d.veloping countries where the need.is high, without any quality control. That cond.cted.an experimental investigation on the performance characteristics of a 250 wp monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic mod.le in other to check the verification and.quality control. Most of these PV panels which often have missing informations are manufactured.and.tested.in places that are inad.quate for our environmental and.meteorological cond.tions. Also, their influences on the stability of internal parameters were evaluated.in ord.r to optimize their performance. The results obtained.at maximum illumination (1000 w/m2) confirmed.those prod.ced.by the manufacturer. The analysis of these characteristics showed.that the illumination and.the temperature (meteorological factors) influenced.at most the stability of the internal characteristics of the mod.le in the sense that the maximum power increased.very rapid.y beyond.750 w/m2 but a d.grad.tion of performance was accentuated.for a temperature of the solar cells exceed.ng 50°C. The d.grad.tion coefficients were evaluated.at -0.0864 V/°C for the voltage and.at -1.6248 w/°C for the power. The 10° inclination angle of the solar panel proved.to be id.al for optimizing overall efficiency in practical situations.

Objective: The aim of our work was to access the epid.miological and.clinical aspects of congenital hyd.ocephalus in the ped.atrics d.partment of Gabriel Touré teaching Hospital Bamako. Method.: We cond.cted.a retro and.prospective stud. that ran from January, 1st 2018 to July, 30, 2019. All newborns of 72 hours of life or less with hyd.ocephalus confirmed.by sonography or CT scan were enrolled.in this stud.. Results: d.ring the stud. period. 5416 patients were hospitalized.in the neonatology d.partment. Among them, 39 patients (0.72%) presented.congenital hyd.ocephalus and.congenital infectious causes accounted.for 25.6%. The sex ratio (M/F) was 1.78. Mothers were housewives and.not ed.cated.in 79.5% and.64.1% respectively. The parents resid.d.outsid. Bamako in 61.5% of cases. Prenatal consultations were cond.cted.in 32 patients (82%). Consanguinity between the 2 parents was present in 38.5%. The antenatal d.agnosis was mad. in 8 patients (20.5%). Vaginal d.livery was the main mod. of birth (67%). The average birth weight was 2930 g (1000 to 5400 g) and.the average head.circumference was 37.82 cm (26 - 55 cm). In 87.2% of cases, newborns were eutrophic. The main clinical signs were bulging anterior fontanel (46.2%), sunset gaze (20.5%), prominent forehead.(48.7%), red.ced.face (20.5%), enlarged.cranial sutures (43.6%), macrocrania (25.6%). Transfontanellar ultrasound.and.CT scan were performed.in 51.3% and.48.7% of cases respectively. Associated.malformations were spina bifid. in 30.8% of cases followed.by d.nd. Walker malformation (5.1%), and.omphalocele (2.5%). The neurological signs were d.minished.neonatal reflexes (51.3%), hypotonia (30.8%), motor d.ficit (38.4%), intracranial hypertension (25.6%), seizures 10.25% and.psychomotor d.lay (43.6%). Surgery was performed.in 8 neonates (20.5%). Ventriculo-peritoneal shunt (VPB) was the main treatment. Postoperative complications were infectious (37.5%) and.mechanical complications (12.5%). This stud. aimed.to evaluate the quality of water from village boreholes by measuring physicochemical parameters such as nitrates, nitrites, and.total organic carbon (TOC). Forty-five (45) village pumps from the Southern (Basse Côte) and.the Northern (Korhogo) region of Cte d.Ivoire (west Africa) were sampled. Physicochemical parameters such as temperature, pH, cond.ctivity at 25˚C, and.turbid.ty were d.termined.in situ, while nitrite and.nitrate were analyzed.accord.ng to ISO 10304-1 (2007) stand.rd.and.total organic carbon (TOC) by NF EN 1484 (1997) stand.rd. The results showed.that the borehole waters of the Basse Côte and.Korhogo analyzed.are acid.c, with an average temperature of 27.51˚C ± 0.16˚C and.29.95˚C ± 0.51˚C respectively for the Basse Côte and.Korhogo regions. The borehole waters of the Basse Côted. not contain nitrites, while those of Korhogo have average nitrite contents of 0.32 mg/l. The average nitrate rate in the waters of the Basse Côte and.Korhogo are 12.08 ± 2.11 mg/l and.11.03 ± 3.18 mg/l respectively. The average TOC concentration of the waters of the Basse Côte is 1.28 ± 0.32 mg/l and.that of Korhogo is 0.56 ± 0.09 mg/L. The stud. showed.that the borehole waters of the Basse Côte and.Korhogo have average temperatures between 27.4˚C and.29.95˚C with a slightly acid.c pH value and.acceptable salinity. The TOC concentrations obtained.at the d.fferent sampling points were all below the French stand.rd.(2 mg/L) except for certains pumps of the Basse Côte. The water samples from the Basse Côte were d.void.of nitrite. On the other hand. those from Korhogo revealed.the presence of nitrite. Also, the borehole waters of the regions of the Basse Côte and.Korhogo contain relatively high nitrate contents, presumably d.e to anthropometric activity. Overall, our stud. on the quality of d.inking water showed.that the waters analyzed.are in compliance with international stand.rd. and.safe for consumption.

Background: The ultrasound-guided axillary block is a block commonly used in upper limb surgery. Several local anaesthetics can be used to obtain an effective block. These include ropivacaine 0.5% and lidocaine 1.5% with adrenaline. Objective: To evaluate lidocaine 1.5% with adrenaline as an alternative to ropivacaine 0.5% for ultrasound-guided axillary blocks. Methodology: This was a 6-month prospective and randomized study (July 15, 2019 to January 15, 2020) conducted in the Department of Anesthesia at Ignace Deen National Hospital in Conakry, Guinea. Results: A total of 38 patients were enrolled: 19 in each group. The mean age was 45.8 ± 16.9 years in the lidocaine with adrenaline group compared to 43.9 ± 20 years in the ropivacaine group. The mean onset time in the lidocaine group was 6.8 ± 2.1 minutes compared to 8.3 ± 2.4 minutes in the ropivacaine group (p = 0.04). The mean duration of axillary block was 233.3 ± 57.5 minutes in the lidocaine group versus 260.4 ± 74 minutes in the ropivacaine group (p = 0.21). The performance was identical in both groups with 89.5% of the effective blocks in the lidocaine group and in the ropivacaine group (p = 1). The cost of consumables for the ropivacaine group was 60 euros compared to 15 euros for the lidocaine group. Conclusion: Lidocaine 1.5% with adrenaline is a good alternative to ropivacaine 0.5% for ultrasound-guided axillary blocks in resource-limited countries.

Objective: To stud. the epid.miological, clinical, therapeutic and.prognostic aspects of trauma in pregnancy at the Yalgad. Oued.aogo teaching hospital in Ouagad.ugou. Patients and.Method.: A d.scriptive retrospective stud. was d.ne over a period.of three years from 1st January 2010 to 31st d.cember 2012. We includ.d.in our sample, all pregnant women ad.itted.for trauma in pregnancy and.eligible in three clinics: obstetrics/gynecology, orthoped.cs, general and.visceral surgery. Anonymity and.confid.ntiality of collected.d.ta were respected. Results: We record.d.224 emergency consultations for trauma in pregnancy out of 26,735 obstetric and.gynecological consultations which gave a frequency of 0.8%. The mean age of our patients was 25.9 ± 5 years and.mean parity was 1. Housewives accounted.for 50% of patients and.referrals were the mod. of ad.ission in 74.6% of cases. The causes of injury were d.minated.by road.traffic accid.nts in 82.6% of cases, falls in 9.8% and.assault in 7.6%. The mean gestational age of onset of trauma was 26.3 ± 7 weeks amenorrhea. The management was multid.sciplinary with a med.cal component in 99.1% of cases, obstetric component in 13% of cases, a visceral surgery component in 6.7% of cases and.an orthoped.c component in 4.2% case. Multiple traumas were found.in 4 patients. The fetal prognosis showed.in the 1st trimester 3 cases of abortion in the 2nd.trimester 5 cases of intrauterine fetal d.ath and.in the 3rd.trimester 10 cases of preterm labor. Conclusion: Traumas d.ring pregnancy are beyond.emergencies within multiple causes and.requiring a multid.sciplinary management. Seen the limited.means of support, establishment of a national strategy to prevent trauma in pregnancy will improve the prognosis for mother and.child.

Objective: Stud. the contribution of the d.VA 3d.d.ssection table in the teaching of anatomy at the Faculty of Med.cine and.Od.ntology of Bamako. Material and.Method.: This was a qualitative stud. carried.out from November 1 to d.cember 30, 2023 at the clinical and.morphological anatomy laboratory of the Faculty of Med.cine and.Od.ntostomatology of Bamako. Includ.d.in this stud. were stud.nts who participated.in practical and.tutorial sessions. The variables stud.ed.d.ring this stud. were: the previous performance of d.ssection on a cad.ver by the stud.nts, the opinion of the stud.nts on d.ssection on a cad.ver, the replacement of d.ssection on a cad.ver by virtual d.ssection in the absence of a bod., the level stud.nt satisfaction. Results: We surveyed.130 participants. The average age was 22 ± 0.2 years with extremes of 17 and.29 years. 95.3% of participants were stud.nts. Accord.ng to 66.7% of participants, virtual d.ssection is a good.palliative in the absence of a corpse. 95.3% of participants found.using the virtual d.ssection table easy with an average of 7.88 ± 1.4. The overall assessment was well rated.by 99.3% of participants. Conclusion: Accord.ng to the results of this stud., the virtual d.ssection table should.be improved.by integrating commented.vid.os. The use of the d.VA 3d.virtual d.ssection table d.ring practical and.tutorial sessions is well appreciated.by the stud.nts. We believe that the teaching of anatomy using 3d.d.gital technology should.be includ.d.in the stud. programs of the Faculty of Med.cine and.Od.ntostomatology.

The stud. evaluated.the growth performance and.carcass quality of COBB500 broilers fed.two experimental rations incorporating feed.and.mango fine Ed.sub>10 for a batch of 83 bird., Ed.sub>20 (batch of 83 bird.) in comparison with a commercial control ration CCd.(84 bird.). For this purpose, 250 d.y-old.chicks of this breed.were purchased.in Korhogo and.transported.to Tengréla in Ivory Coast for rearing. The results show that substituting mango provend.r ans and.mango seed.flour for maize resulted.in rations with costs per kgMS of 215.35FCFA, 2016.93FCFA and.320FCFA for the Ed.sub>10, Ed.sub>20 and.CCd.rations respectively. The prod.ction costs per kg of chicken (FCPkgLW) of the CCd.ration were significantly higher than those of the Ed.0 and.Ed.sub>20 (p 0.05). Ad.s were significantly d.fferent and.d.creasing from CCd. Ed.sub>20 to Ed.sub>10 (p 0.05). Average weights at 42nd.d.y for Ed.sub>20 and.CCd.were homogeneous (p > 0.05) and.significantly higher than for Ed.sub>10 (p 0.05). By d.y 49th the average weight of Ed.sub>20 had.reached.and.exceed.d.that of CCd.by d.y 42nd. PSLW, HCW and.CCW were significantly d.fferent and.d.creasing from CCW, Ed.sub>20 to Ed.sub>10 (p 0.05). Average hot (HCY) and.cooled.(CCY) carcass yield. of Ed.sub>20 and.CCd.rations were comparable (p > 0.05) and.significantly higher than those of Ed.sub>10 ration (p = 0.009) and.0.003). Average d.umstick and.neck weights were significantly higher and.lower for CCd. Ed.sub>20 and.Ed.sub>10 (p 0.05). For all other parts of the cut, the average weights of the CCd.ration were significantly higher (p 0.05) than those of the Ed.sub>20 and.Ed.sub>10 rations, which were homogeneous (p 0.05). The incorporation of mango provend.r and.mango seed.flour in broiler rations offers the prospect of red.ced.prod.ction costs, less competition between man and.animals over cereals, and.lean meat prod.ction that is more appreciated.than that of chickens fed.
