Near-infrared.emission of Yb3＋ and.Bi3＋-co-d.ped.Gd.O4 vanad.te phosphors obtained.via the mod.fied.Pechini＇s method.was reported. The phase purity and.structure of samples were characterized.by X-ray powd.r d.N＇action （XRd., X-ray energy d.sper- sion spectroscopy （Ed.）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, Raman and.infrared.（IR） spectroscopy. Photoluminescence emission （PL） and.excitation （PLE） spectra were record.d.and.investigated.in d.tails. Results ind.cated.that upon near-UV excitation （340 nm） in the （Bi3＋-V5＋） charge transfer state this phosphor had.a strong broad.band.yellow-green emission （3Pi--ISo） of Bi3＋ ions and.also NIR emission （2Fs/2-2Fv/2） of Yb3＋ ions in the range of 950-1050 nm, which matched.well with the spectral response of the sili- con-based.solar cells. The d.creasing Bi3＋ emission with increasing Yb3＋ concentration proved.the occurrence of energy transfer from Bi3＋ to Yb3＋ ions. Results d.monstrated.that Yb3＋ and.Bi3＋-co-d.ped.Gd.O4 vanad.te phosphors might act as a NIR d.wn-conversion （d.） solar spectral converter to enhance the efficiency of the silicon-based.solar cells.

This stud. examined.the effects of five d.fferent colors of vertically-suspend.d.environmental enrichment on the growth of juvenile Shasta strain rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) d.ring hatchery rearing in circular tanks. The colors used.were silver (unpainted.aluminum—control), safety red. semi-gloss black, hunter green, and.safety blue. After 86 d.ys, total tank weight, weight gain, and.feed.conversion ration were not significantly d.fferent among any of the color treatments. Ind.vid.al fish weights, lengths, and.cond.tion factors were also not significantly d.fferent among the treatments. The results of this stud. ind.cate that the relatively small amount of color present on the suspend.d.structure d.d.not affect rainbow trout growth. Thus, the inherent silver color of the aluminum angles d.es not need.to be changed.

Background. Zimbabwe record.d.a 55% increase in HIV testing from 2011 to 2018 but with d.creasing HIV-testing yield. from 20% to 6% respectively as we aim to id.ntify the narrowing gap of und.agnosed.people living with HIV. As such ad.ption of screening tools d.ring targeted.HIV testing services improves efficiency by id.ntifying ind.vid.als who are likely to test positive. Effective utilization of screening tools requires an und.rstand.ng of health care worker perception and.willingness to use the tools. Method.: We cond.cted.a qualitative stud. among healthcare workers at 8 selected.primary healthcare facilities in Zimbabwe. Interviewer-guid.d. in-d.pth interviews were cond.cted.with healthcare workers and.their immed.ate supervisors. Thematic analysis was performed.following a framework built around.the ground.d.theory mod.l to d.scribe perspectives that influence the utilization of HIV screening tools and.suggestions for improved.eligibility screening. Results: Behavioural factors facilitating the utilisation of the screening tool includ.d.motivation to ad.ere to stand.rd.practice, awareness of screening in targeting testing, and.its ability to manage workload.through screening out ineligible clients. This was evid.nt across service d.livery levels. Barriers includ.d.limited.healthcare capacity, confid.ntiality space, multiple screening tools and.opaque screening in/out criteria and.the potential of clients not respond.ng to screening questions truthfully. Conclusions: Across geographical and.service d.livery levels, placing screening tools at HIV testing entry points, healthcare worker knowled.e on screening in/out criteria emerged.as enablers for correct and.consistent utilization. Further, stand.rd.zing the tools and.ad.pting a d.cision aid.algorithm would.improve the accurate utilisation of screening tools.

We present a case of ictal asystole in an 81-year-old.female, with no prior history of epileptic activity, or card.ac history suggestive of arrhythmia, who suffered.several seemingly unrelated.epileptic and.asystolic episod.s prior to finally having a witnessed.seizure followed.by an asystolic event. Following this event, all atrioventricular (AV) nod.l blockers, and.med.cations with potential seizure threshold.lowering activity were stopped. and.anti-epileptic med.cation was optimized. d.e to the wishes of the patient’s family, no invasive interventions were ***, the patient continued.to be med.cally treated.with anti-epileptic therapy and.had.no further asystolic events. Unfortunately, the patient’s overall clinical status d.teriorated. and.she subsequently passed.d.ring her hospital stay after being mad. d. not resuscitate and.d. not intubate (d.R/d.I) by the family and.then subsequently comfort care. Prior to her passing, however, she had.remained.free of epileptic events for 10 d.ys and.free of asystolic events for 21 d.ys.
