AIM:To investigate the p.evalence of visual imp.irment(VI)and.p.ovid. an estimation of uncorrected.refractive errors in school-aged.child.en,cond.cted.by op.ometry stud.nts as a community ***:The stud. was *** 3343 p.rticip.nts were includ.d.in the *** initial examination involved.assessing the uncorrected.d.stance visual acuity(Ud.A)and.visual acuity(VA)while using a+2.00 d.*** inclusion criteria for a subsequent comp.ehensive cyclop.egic eye examination,p.rformed.by an op.ometrist,were as follows:a Ud.Ad.cimal(0.20 logMAR)and.or a VA with+2.00 d.0.8 d.cimal(0.96 logMAR).RESULTS:The samp.e had.a mean age of 10.92±2.13y(range 4 to 17y),and.51.3%of the child.en were female(n=1715).The majority of the child.en(89.7%)fell within the age range of 8 to *** the ethnic group.,the highest rep.esentation was from the Luhya group.60.6%)followed.by Luo(20.4%).Mean logMAR Ud.A choosing the best eye for each stud.nt was 0.29±0.17(range 1.70 to 0.22).Out of the total,246 p.rticip.nts(7.4%)had.a full eye *** estimated.p.evalence of myop.a(d.fined.as sp.erical equivalent≤-0.5 d.was found.to be 1.45%of the total *** around.0.18%of the total samp.e had.hyp.rop.a value exceed.ng+1.75 *** astigmatism(cild.was found.in 0.21%(7/3343)of the *** VI p.evalence was 1.26%of the total *** our cases of VI,76.2%could.be attributed.to uncorrected.refractive *** was d.tected.in 0.66%(22/3343)of the screened.*** was no statistically significant correlation observed.between age or gend.r and.refractive ***:The p.imary cause of VI is d.termined.to be uncorrected.refractive errors,with myop.a being the most p.evalent refractive error *** find.ngs und.rscore the significance of early id.ntification and.correction of refractive errors in school-aged.child.en as a means to alleviate the imp.ct of VI.

The electrochemical CO_(2) red.ction reaction(CO_(2)RR) to controllable chemicals is consid.red.as a p.omising p.thway to store intermittent renewable energy. Herein, a set of catalysts based.on cop.er-nitrogend.p.d.carbon xerogel(Cu-N-C) are successfully d.velop.d.varying the cop.er amount and.the nature of the cop.er p.ecursor, for the efficient CO_(2)RR. The electrocatalytic p.rformance of Cu-N-C materials is assessed.by a rotating ring-d.sc electrod.(RRd.), technique still rarely exp.ored.for CO_(2)RR. For comp.rison, p.od.cts are also characterized.by online gas chromatograp.y in a H-cell. The as-synthesized.Cu-NC catalysts are found.to be active and.highly CO selective at low overp.tentials(from -0.6 to -0.8 V ***) in 0.1 M KHCO_(3), while H_(2) from the comp.titive water red.ction ap.ears at larger overp.tentials(-0.9 V vs. RHE). The op.imum cop.er acetate-d.rived.catalyst containing Cu-N_(4) moieties exhibits a CO_(2)-to-CO turnover frequency of 997 h^(-1) at -0.9 V vs. RHE with a H_(2)/CO ratio of 1.8. These results d.monstrate that RRd. configuration can be used.as a feasible ap.roach for id.ntifying electrolysis p.od.cts from CO_(2)RR.

Background. Non-imp.antable bone anchored.hearing d.vices (BCHd.) are utilized.for p.tients with cond.ctive or mixed.hearing loss who are unsuitable for conventional hearing aid. or have unresolved.mid.le ear issues. These d.vices can be surgically imp.anted.or attached.using ad.esive p.ates, d.ntal sticks, elastic head.and., or bone cond.ction sp.ctacles. Op.imal fitting of bone cond.ction sp.ctacles requires ap.rop.iate frame selection and.contact p.essure in the temp.ral and.mastoid.areas. The ANSI S3.6 and.d.N EN ISO 389-3 stand.rd. recommend.a contact area of ap.roximately 1.75 cm2 and.a maximum force of 5.4 N for effective sound.transmission and.comfort. Method.: This stud. aimed.to evaluate the technical fit and.mechanical stability of universal bone cond.ction hearing sp.ctacles comp.red.to established.systems. A Sen-p.essure 02 thin-film sensor connected.to an Ard.ino Uno R3 board.measured.contact force in the temp.ral and.mastoid.areas. Several BCHd. were tested. includ.ng the Bruckhoff la belle BC d.0/70, rad.oear B71 head.et, rad.oear B71 elastic head.and. Cochlear Baha Sound.rc M, and.Cochlear Baha elastic head.and. on a p.C artificial head. with d.ta analyzed.using ANOVA and.LSd.p.st hoc tests. Results: The la belle BC d.0/70 sp.ctacles showed.comp.rable contact force to established.BCHd., ensuring ad.quate sound.transmission and.comfort. Significant d.fferences were observed.between the systems, with the rad.oear B71 head.et exhibiting the highest forces. The la belle BC d.0/70 had.similar forces to the rad.oear B71 elastic head.and. Conclusion: The la belle BC d.0/70 universal bone cond.ction hearing sp.ctacles are a technically equivalent alternative to established.BCHd., maintaining p.essure below 5.4 N.
