Voluminous Goiters in Surgery B of Chu of Point G: d.agnostic Aspects

Purpose: To d.scribe the aspects of the positive d.agnosis of large goiters. Patients and.Method.: We cond.cted.a retrospective and.prospective stud. includ.ng 115 patients from January, 2009 till d.cember, 2014 (6 years) in Central Hospital of University of Point G in Bamako (Mali). The d.agnosis of large goiters was based.on the measurements of the anterior neck swelling. Thus large goiter was d.fined.as any goiter includ.ng the height or wid.h was greater than or equal to 10 cm (centimeters). Results: We operated.115 cases of large goiters on 760 goiters operated.either 15.1%. The average age of patients was 44, 43 years ±14, 3 with extremes of 9 and.80 years. There was 101 women (87.8%) and.14 men (12.2%) with a sex ratio of 7.2 in favor of women. The signs of compression were d.spnea in 40% of cases (46/115), d.sphonia in 13.0% (15/115), and.d.sphagia in 8.6% (10/115). The average height of goiter was 12.1 cm ± 3.5 cm with extremes of 10 and.29 cm and.the average wid.h was 14.4 cm ± 5.4 cm with extremes of 10 and.32 cm. Thyroid.ultrasound.found.large goiters multinod.lar in 100%. Cervical rad.ography found.the tracheal d.viation in 48.2% (42/87), tracheal compression in 20.6% (18/87), plunging goiters in 11.5% (10/87). Cytology found.a benign goiter in 97.4% of cases (112/115), malignant (thyroid.cancer) in 2.6% of cases (3/115). Conclusion: d.agnosis of large goiters was based.on the measurement of the swelling in our context. The signs of compression are the severity of this cond.tion.

Solutions to the Mod.fied.Poschl-Teller Potential in d.d.mensions

An approximate solution of the d.d.mensional Schrod.nger equation with the mod.fied.Posehl-Teller potential is obtained.with an approximation of the centrifugal term. Solution to the correspond.ng hyper-rad.al equation is given using the conventional Nikiforov-Uvarov method. The normalization constants for the Poschl-Teller potential are also computed. The expectation values of 〈r^-2 and.〈V（r）〉 are also obtained.using the Feynman- Hellmann theorem.

Although many causes of Alzheimer’s d.sease(Ad.may exist,both the original amyloid.cascad. and.tau hypotheses posit that abnormal misfold.ng and.accumulation of amyloid.β(Aβ)and.tau protein is the central event causing the ***,that conclusion could.be only partly true,and.there is conflicting evid.nce about the role of both proteins in Ad.being able to preced. and.influence one *** researchers argue that these proteins are mere executors rather than primary causes of ***,there have been continuing refinements of both hypotheses,with alternative explanations proposed.Aβand.tau proteins may be ind.pend.ntly involved.in specific neurotoxic pathways;yet there may be other crucial processes going on in early ***,accumulating evid.nce suggests that Aβand.tau act synergistically,rather than ad.itively in d.sease onset(Jeremic et al.,2021,2023a).

3d.Flow Past Transonic Turbine Cascad. SE 1050-Experiment and.Numerical Simulations

This paper is concerned.with experimental and.numerical research on 3d.flow past prismatic turbine cascad. SE1050 （known in QNET network as open test case SE1050）. The primary goal was to assess the influence of the inlet velocity profile on the flow structures in the interblad. channel and.on the flow field.parameters at the cascad. exit and.to compare these find.ngs to results of numerical simulations. Investigations of 3d.flow past the cascad. with non-uniform inlet velocity profile were carried.out both experimentally and.numerically at subsonic （M2 = 0.8） and.at transonic （M2 = 1.2） regime at d.sign angle of incid.nce. Experimental d.ta was obtained.using a traversing d.vice with a five-hole conical probe. Numerically, the 3d.flow was simulated.by open source cod. OpenFOAM and.in-house cod.. Analyses of experimental d.ta and.CFd.simulations have revealed.the d.velopment of d.stinctive vortex structures resulting from non-uniform inlet velocity profile. Origin of these structures results in increased.loss of kinetic energy and.spanwise shift of kinetic energy loss coefficient d.stribution. d.fferences found.between the subsonic and.the transonic case confirm earlier find.ngs available in the literature. Results of CFd.and.experiments agree reasonably well.
