The GC-Ion Trap m. is recently one of the m.st efficient instrum.ntal analysis recom.end.d.for und.rstand.ng the chem.stry of these organic com.ound., not only in water but even in the food.chain and.other environm.ntal m.d.a (air and.soil). Results of the experim.nt cond.cted.on water sam.les from.Kuguri and.Yatsutani sam.ling stations showed.consid.rably higher levels of organic enrichm.nt (COd.10 m./L and.11 m./L respectively). Total concentrations of Pb (0.072 m./L and.0.093 m./L) and.Cd.(0.004 m./Land.0.011 m./L) on the other hand. invariably exceed.d.the m.xim.m.allowable concentrations for hum.n health and.the living environm.nt (Pb=0.005 m./L; Cd.0.001 m./L respectively). And.the toxicity levels for these contam.nants at LC_50 showed.critical im.act on rainbow trout (hypersensitive species) at 0.14 m./L for Pb and.0.007 m./L for Cd.in 96 hours respectively. Although these m.jor contam.nants includ.ng phenol and.3-, 4-cresol, showed.relatively higher toxicity im.act in the experim.ntal m.d.a, it would.rem.in contentious to justify any associated.potential d.ngers without regular routine water m.nitoring, at least for a period.of one year. Nevertheless, the d.ta could.serve as a benchm.rk through which other phenom.na can easily be investigated.

This stud. was to investigate growth perform.nce, rum.nation d.velopm.nt, rum.n ferm.ntation and.feed.d.gestion in young calves provid.d.high volum.s(about 20% of calf birth weight) of m.lk with or without forage inclusion and.how these param.ters correlate with each other. Im.ed.ately after birth,160 newborn Holstein fem.le calves(41.6 ± 4.2 kg of initial BW) were rand.m.y d.vid.d.into 2 treatm.nts: 1) starter(CON, only starter) and.2) starter and.hay(HAY, both starter and.hay). The calves were fed.their respective experim.ntal d.ets from.d.4 to 84, after which they were all introd.ced.to sim.lar d.ets until the end.of the experim.nt on d.196. Treatm.nt had.no effect on growth and.structural m.asurem.nts throughout the experim.ntal period. However, treatm.nt had.an effect on the other param.ters, m.inly d.ring the post-weaning period. Forage supplem.ntation tend.d.to red.ce starter d.y m.tter intake(P = 0.05), while increasing the forage intake(P d.the feed.to-gain ratio(P d.increased.neutral d.tergent fiber(Nd.) and.physically effective Nd.(peNd.)intakes(P d.tend.d.to lower(P m.ared.to CON calves. The HAY calves had.a higher rum.nation tim.(P m.nal pH(P d.acetate-to-propionate ratio(P = 0.05)com.ared.to the CON calves. Spearm.n correlation analysis showed.that rum.nation tim. was positively related.to the rum.nal p H at d.84(P = 0.01) and.196(P = 0.02). The HAY calves had.sim.lar apparent total-tract d.gestibility of d.y m.tter(d.), Nd. and.ether extract(EE), but lower d.gestibility of organic m.tter(Om. The stud. aim.d.to assess the clinical, laboratory, and.blood.gas analysis of horses und.rgoing m.rcha training and.the effects of voluntary ingestion of hyd.oelectrolytic and.energy replenishers after exercise. Eight horses of both gend.rs aged.between 5 and.10 years, were includ.d.in the stud.. The exercise consisted.of a 10-m.n warm.up followed.by 45 m.n uninterrupted.m.rcha on a flat d.rt track in the m.rning. After exercise, the horses received.one of the following treatm.nts: d.inking water (control group);Hyd.oelectrolytic and.energy replenisher containing sod.um.chlorid., potassium.chlorid., calcium.acetate, m.gnesium.chlorid., sod.um.citrate, d.xtrose, m.ltod.xtrin, and.sucrose in three d.fferent concentrations (Replenishers A, B, and.C). The horses were d.stributed.across the four treatm.nts in a 4 × 4 Latin Squares d.sign using a Split-plot system.with 48-hr intervals. Clinical and.laboratory evaluations were cond.cted.at four tim. points: T0 - 5 m.n before exercise;T1 - up to 5 m.n after exercise;T2 - 2 hr after starting treatm.nt;and.T4 - 4 hr after beginning treatm.nt. Concentrations of urea, creatinine, lactate, phosphorus, and.ionized.calcium.significantly changed.after exercise. An increase in blood.pH and.a d.crease in chlorid. concentrations were observed.when replenishers B and.C were offered.after exercise. The replacem.nts were ingested.spontaneously by the anim.ls in a volum. greater than that of the control group (water). Replacem.nt B was the m.st ingested.by the anim.ls, d.m.nstrating its greatest potential.

The possibility of form.tion of com.lexes between glycine and.boron d.ped.C60 （C59B） fullerene is investigated.and.com.ared.with that of C60 fullerene by using the d.nsity functional theory calculations. It has been found.that the bind.ng of glycine to C59B generated.the m.st stable com.lexes via its carbonyl oxygen active site, with a bind.ng energy of-37.89 kcal/m.l, while the glycine m.lecule prefers to bind.to the pure C60 cage via its am.no nitrogen active site, consistent with the recent experim.ntal and.theoretical stud.es. We have also tested.the stability of the m.st stable Gly-C59B com.lex with ab initio m.lecular d.nam.cs sim.lation, carried.out at room.tem.erature. These ind.cate that the B-d.ped.C60 fullerenes seem.to be m.re suitable m.terials for bind.ngs to proteins than pure C60 fullerenes.
