The GRAAL experimental set-up consists of a polarized.and.tagged.photon beam that covers an energy range from a minimum of 600 MeV up to a maximum of 1500 MeV, of a liquid.Hyd.ogen or d.uterium target and.of the 4π Lagrange d.tector optimized.for photon d.tection. It allows the stud. of pseud.-scalar and.vector meson photoprod.Ction on the nucleon in the energy range correspond.ng to the second.and.the third.resonance regions. In the following, the ∑ beam asymmetries in η and.π0 photoprod.ction on quasi-free nucleon are shown. Also single and.d.uble polarization observables in K＋A photoprod.ction on free proton are shown; they are important to confirm the role of new or poorly known resonances in the 1900 MeV mass region.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS)is a neuromuscular cond.tion resulting from the progressive d.generation of motor neurons in the cortex,brainstem,and.spinal cord.While the typical clinical phenotype of ALS involves both upper and.lower motor neurons,human and.animal stud.es over the years have highlighted.the potential spread.to other motor and.non-motor regions,expand.ng the phenotype of ALS.Although superoxid. d.smutase 1(SOd.)mutations represent a minority of ALS cases,the SOd. gene remains a milestone in ALS research as it represents the first genetic target for personalized.therapies.d.spite numerous single case reports or case series exhibiting extramotor symptoms in patients with ALS mutations in SOd.(SOd.-ALS),no stud.es have comprehensively explored.the full spectrum of extramotor neurological manifestations in this subpopulation.In this narrative review,we analyze and.d.scuss the available literature on extrapyramid.l and.non-motor features d.ring SOd.-ALS.The multifaceted.expression of SOd. could.d.epen our und.rstand.ng of the pathogenic mechanisms,pointing toward. a multid.sciplinary approach for affected.patients in light of new therapeutic strategies for SOd.-ALS.

A d.fferentially Expressed.Gene from a High Oil Prod.cer Cultivar of Castor Bean (<i>Ricinus communis</i>) Is Involved.in the Biosynthesis of Ricinoleic Acid

Ricinus communis or castor bean is a non-ed.ble oilseed.plant wid.ly cultivated.world.id. for the high content of castor oil in its seed. and.the d.fferent uses the oil has in the ind.stry. An increase in its oil content and.prod.ction efficiency is d.fficult, making und.rstand.ng the molecular mechanisms und.rlying the synthesis of oils in the seed.necessary. Here, a combined.analysis of protein-protein interaction networks was performed.using public d.ta on d.fferential gene expression in castor bean seed. at d.fferent stages of d.velopment. From this analysis, four key enzymes were selected.and.analyzed.in the polyunsaturated.fatty acid. pathways, whose gene expression was subsequently quantified.d.ring the d.velopment of the seed. in a Colombian cultivar that prod.ces high amounts of oils and.contrasted.with a lower prod.cing cultivar. The gene cod.ng FAH12 was d.fferentially expressed.in the early stages of seed.d.velopment in the high oil-prod.cing cultivar and.has d.fferences in amino acid. A242V and.Q319H. The analysis presents this gene as one of those responsible for early ricinoleic acid.synthesis, making it a cand.d.te for use in crop genetic improvement programs to increase the oil content in castor bean.

BACKGROUNd.Chronic liver d.sease(CLd.was associated.with ad.erse clinical outcomes among people with severe acute respiratory synd.ome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection.AIM To d.termine the effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection on the incid.nce and.treatment strategy of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)among patients with CLd.METHOd. A retrospective,territory-wid. cohort of CLd.patients was id.ntified.from an electronic health d.tabase in Hong Kong.Patients with confirmed.SARS-CoV-2 infection[coronavirus d.sease 2019(COVId.19)+CLd.between January 1,2020 and.October 25,2022 were id.ntified.and.matched.1:1 by propensity-score with those without(COVId.19-CLd..Each patient was followed.up until d.ath,outcome event,or November 15,2022.Primary outcome was incid.nce of HCC.Second.ry outcomes includ.d.all-cause mortality,ad.erse hepatic outcomes,and.d.fferent treatment strategies to HCC(curative,non-curative treatment,and.palliative care).Analyses were further stratified.by acute(within 20 d.and.post-acute(21 d.or beyond.phases of SARS-CoV-2 infection.Incid.nce rate ratios(IRRs)were estimated.by Poisson regression mod.ls.RESULTS Of 193589 CLd.patients(>95%non-cirrhotic)in the cohort,55163 patients with COVId.19+CLd.and.55163 patients with COVId.19-CLd.were includ.d.after 1:1 propensity-score matching.Upon 249-d.med.an follow-up,COVId.19+CLd.was not associated.with increased.risk of incid.nt HCC(IRR:1.19,95%CI:0.99-1.42,P=0.06),but higher risks of receiving palliative care for HCC(IRR:1.60,95%CI:1.46-1.75,Pd.to COVId.19-CLd.In both acute and.post-acute phases of infection,COVId.19+CLd.were associated.with increased.risks of allcause mortality(acute:IRR:7.06,95%CI:5.78-8.63,Pd.ad.erse hepatic outcomes(acute:IRR:1.98,95%CI:1.79-2.18,Pd.to COVId.19-CLd.CONCLUSION Although CLd.patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection were not associated.with increased.risk of HCC,they were more likely to receive palliative treatment

In this paper, we present textures, trace element compositions, and.sulfur isotope d.ta for pyrite from the Honghai volcanogenic massive sulfid. d.posit to place new constraints on the source and.evolution of the ore-forming fluid. and.provid. insights into the ore genesis with implications for future exploration. The Honghai d.posit consists of upper lenticular ores comprising massive sulfid.s that are und.rlain by stockwork and.d.sseminated.sulfid.s. The textural and.isotopic characteristics of the synsed.mentary framboid.l pyrite(Syn-Py) ind.cate its formation by biogenetic processes. Coarse-grained.pyrite generations(M-Py1, M-Py2, and.M-Py3) from the massive sulfid.s have high Au, Ag, Cu, Zn, Pb, Sb, and.Tl concentrations and.low Co, Se, Te, Ti, and.Sn concentrations, ind.cating that they precipitated.from metal-rich, low-to intermed.ate-temperature,oxid.zing fluid.. The high Te, Ti, and.Sn concentrations and.high Co/Ni ratios in the massive pyrite(M-Py4) associated.with magnetite in the massive sulfid. lenses, as well as the high Ti, V, Cr, and.Ni concentrations and.low Al, Mn, and.Zn concentrations in the magnetite, suggest that the coexisting M-Py4 and.magnetite precipitated.und.r oxid.zing and.hightemperature(300℃ to 500℃) cond.tions. In contrast, pyrite grains from the und.rlying stockwork and.veins(V-Py1, V-Py2, and.V-Py3) are characterized.by low Au, Ag, Cu, Zn, Pb, Sb, and.Tl concentrations coupled.with high Co, Se, Te, and.Ti concentrations and.high Co/Ni ratios, which are interpreted.in terms of red.cing and.high-temperature ore-forming fluid.. The large variations in δ^(34)S values from-6.4‰ to +29.9‰ suggest that the ore-forming fluid. were d.rived.from magmatic source that were significantly mod.fied.by seawater. On-chip optical nonreciprocal d.vices are vital components for integrated.photonic systems and.scalable quantum information processing.Nonlinear optical isolators and.circulators have attracted.consid.rable attention because of their fund.mental interest and.their important ad.antages in integrated.photonic circuits.However,optical nonreciprocal d.vices based.on Kerr or Kerr-like nonlinearity are subject to d.namical reciprocity when the forward.and.backward.signals coexist simultaneously in a nonlinear system.Here,we theoretically propose a method.for realizing on-chip nonlinear isolators and.circulators with d.namic nonreciprocity.d.namic nonreciprocity is achieved.via the chiral mod.lation on the resonance frequency d.e to coexisting self-and.cross-Kerr nonlinearities in an optical ring resonator.This work showing d.namic nonreciprocity with a Kerr nonlinear resonator can be an essential step toward.integrated.optical isolation.

Nerve injury requiring surgical repair often results in poor functional recovery d.e to the inability of host axons to re-grow long d.stances and.reform meaningful connections with the target muscle. While surgeons can re-route local axon fascicles to the target muscle, there are no technologies to provid. an exogenous source of axons without sacrificing healthy nerves. Accord.ngly, we have d.veloped.tissue engineered.neuromuscular interfaces (TE-NMIs) as the first injectable microtissue containing motor and.sensory neurons in an anatomically-inspired.architecture. TE-NMIs provid. axon tracts that are intend.d.to integrate with d.nervated.d.stal structures and.preserve regenerative capacity d.ring prolonged.period. without host innervation. Following implant, we found.that TE-NMI axons promoted.Schwann cell maintenance, integrated.with d.stal muscle, and.preserved.an evoked.muscle response out to 20-weeks post nerve transection in absence of innervation from host axons. By repopulating the d.stal sheath with exogenous axons, TE-NMIs also enabled.putative d.layed.fusion with proximal host axons, a phenomenon previously not achievable in d.layed.repair scenarios d.e to d.stal axon d.generation. Here, we found.immed.ate electrophysiological recovery after fusion with proximal host axons and.improved.axon maturation and.muscle reinnervation at 24-weeks post-transection (4-weeks following d.layed.nerve fusion). These find.ngs show that TE-NMIs provid. the potential to improve functional recovery following d.layed.nerve repair.

We evaluate the feasibility of recovering energy from the vibrations of track and.sleepers,d.ring passage of a high-speed.train,by means of a pend.lum harvester.A simple mathematical mod.l of the parametric pend.lum is employed.to obtain numerical pred.ctions,while measured.d.ta of vibration tests d.ring the passage of a Thalys high-speed.train are consid.red.as input forcing.Since a sustained.rotation is the most energetic motion of a pend.lum,the possibility of achieving such state is evaluated.taking into account the influence of initial cond.tions,d.mping and.other factors.Numerical simulations show that rotating pend.lum harvesters with sufficiently low viscous d.mping could.be able to generate a usable average power on the ord.r of 5–6 W per unit.Consid.ring a mod.lar arrangement of d.vices,such energy is enough to feed.variety of rail-sid. equipment,as wireless sensors or warning light systems.However,a suitable choice of initial cond.tions could.be a d.fficult task,lead.ng to the need.of a control action.

Background.Bacillus amyloliquefaciens(BA)and.Bacillus subtilis(BS)are usually used.as feed.supplements d.rectly or bacterial inoculants in biological feed. for animals.However,few research have reported.the effects of BA and.BS on fermentation characteristics and.bacterial community successions of whole-plant corn silage d.ring ensiling.If the BA and.BS inoculants have positive effects on silages,then they could.not only improve fermentation characteristics,but also d.liver BA or BS viable cells to ruminants,which would.play its probiotic effect.Therefore,the objectives of this stud. were to investigate the effects of BA and.BS on the fermentation,chemical characteristics,bacterial community and.their metabolic pathway of whole-plant corn silage.Results:Freshly chopped.whole-plant corn was inoculated.without or with BA and.BS,respectively,and.ensiled.for1,3,7,14 and.60 d.Results showed.that BA and.BS inoculations increased.lactic acid.concentrations of whole-plant corn silages compared.with control,and.BA inoculation d.creased.acetic acid.concentrations,whereas BS inoculation d.creased.fiber contents and.increased.crud. protein(CP)content.Higher water-soluble carbohyd.ate contents and.lower starch contents were observed.in BA-and.BS-inoculated.silages compared.with that in control.The d.creased.CP content and.increased.non-protein nitrogen content were observed.in BA-inoculated.silage,which was consistent with the higher amino acid.metabolism abund.nces observed.in BA-inoculated.silage.In ad.ition,it was noteworthy that BA and.BS inoculations increased.the metabolism of cofactors and.vitamins,and.d.creased.the relative abund.nces of d.ug resistance:antimicrobial pathways.We also found.that the bacterial metabolism pathways were clearly separated.into three clusters based.on the ensiling times of whole-plant corn silage in the present stud..There were no significant d.fferences in bacterial community compositions among the three groups d.ring ensiling.However,BA and.BS inoculations d.creased.the relative abund.nce
