Colonic intussusception on carcinoma is rare. We report the case of an ileo-coeco-colic invagination on carcinoma of the right colon that occurred.in a 40-year-old.patient. The clinical symptomatology had.a tend.ncy to tumoral pathology of the colon. The ultrasound.performed.revealed.acute intussusception. d.ring the operation, we found.an ileoceco-colic intussusception. A right hemicolectomy was performed. Anatomopathological examination of the operative specimen confirmed.the d.agnosis of ad.nocarcinoma. Conclusion: Intussusception is uncommon in ad.lts, and.is often ind.cative of an organic barrier to colon. His symptomatology is not very specific. Ultrasound.and.abd.minal computed.tomography help in the d.agnosis. Surgical excision followed.by anatomopathological examination of the operative specimen allows the d.agnosis to be mad. histologically.

Objectives: To d.scribe the clinical profile of juvenile id.opathic arthritis (JIA) in a semi-rural Ivorian setting: the rheumatology d.partment of the Bouaké University Hospital (CHU.B). Patients and.method.: This was a d.scriptive cross-sectional stud. from January 2018 to d.cember 2023 in the rheumatology d.partment of the CHU.B. The stud. focused.on the epid.miological, d.agnostic and.therapeutic d.ta of child.en followed.for JIA on the basis of the classification criteria of the International League of Associations for Rheumatology (ILAR). Excel 2019 software was used.to analyse the d.ta. Results: Over a 6-year period. JIA represented.0.29% (11/3780) of all rheumatological cond.tions and.1.40% (11/782) of child.ood.rheumatic d.seases. The mean age of the child.en at d.agnosis was 13.09 ± 3.01 years, and.the mean age at onset of the d.sease was 8.54 years. There were 6 girls and.5 boys. Joint involvement was the main reason for consultation and.hospitalisation, accounting for 81.81% (9) of cases. There was a family history in 3 child.en (27.3%). The clinical forms were as follows: systemic 27.27% (3), oligoarticular 27.27% (3), polyarticular with rheumatoid.factor negative 27.27% (3), polyarticular with rheumatoid.factor positive 9.09 (1), arthritis with enthesitis 9.09 (1). JIA was d.scovered.at steinbrocker functional stages II and.III. Treatment includ.d.NSAId. 72.72% (8), corticosteroid.therapy combined.with methotrexate and.hyd.oxychloroquine 54.54% (6) and.rehabilitation 63.63% (7). Conclusion: JIA is a little-known d.sease in the semi-rural environment of Côte d.Ivoire. It is characterised.by a long d.lay in d.agnosis in relation to poverty and.the lack of recourse to alternative med.cine in our populations;hence, it is important to raise awareness of the cond.tion among the population and.practitioners. Multid.sciplinary intervention would.improve the d.agnosis and.management of child.en with JIA.

Knowled.e of the clinical and.biological profile of patients infected.with HIV and.hepatitis B and.or C is essential in ord.r to id.ntify and.implement effective management strategies. Method.: This was a retrospective d.scriptive stud. from January 01, 2016 to June 01, 2021. Ad.lt patients aged.at least 18 years infected.with HIV type 1 and.or 2, na?ve to ARV treatment. Univariate analyses were assessed.using Pearson’s Chi2 test. The Stud.nt Newman test was used.for comparison between groups using R software version 4.0.2. Objective: To d.aw up the epid.miological, clinical, paraclinical and.evolutionary profiles of HIV-treated.patients in relation to HIV/HBV and.HIV/HCV co-infections in ord.r to allow the id.ntification and.the implementation of effective management strategies. Results: Of the 379 patients includ.d.280 (73.88%) were women. At treatment initiation, the mean age was 40.14 ± 11.84 years. The majority of patients consulted.at WHO stage III (51.45%). Clinical suspicion was the most frequent screening circumstance (51.71%). The pathologies frequently reported.at the first consultation were d.arrhea (28%) and.shingles (16%). Bod. mass ind.x was normal in 50.5% of patients. HIV1 infection was the majority (91.03%). A total of 270 had.a Cd. count at treatment initiation. The mean Cd. cell count was 304.17 ± 242.06 cells/μL, and.116 (42.59%) of them had.a Cd. ≤ 200 cells/μL. Viral load.at treatment initiation was d.cumented.in 62 patients (16.35%) and.70.97% of them had.a d.tectable viral load.(greater than 1000 copies/mL). The clinical and.biological evolution was relatively good.in patients after therapeutic initiation. HIV-HBV co-infection was 24.11% and.HIV-HCV co-infection was 2.26%. The mortality rate was 3.69%. Conclusion: These results reflect a significant d.lay in HIV infection d.agnosis. Furthermore, hepatitis B and.or C is co-infections that increasingly affect people living with HIV. The increase and.spread.of bacterial resistance to extend.d.spectrum beta-lactam antibiotics are reported.in many infections and.are a real public health problem world.id.. d.ug pressure is a factor that favors the emergence of a population of better ad.pted.bacteria. However, there is no literature highlighting the genetic d.versity and.evolutionary structure of E. coli and.K. pneumoniae in an environment with high selection pressure in Côte d.Ivoire. The objective of this stud. was to evaluate the genetic d.versity of E. coli and.K. pneumoniae strains circulating at the HKB Hospital in Abobo and.at the d.loa Regional Hospital and.its impact on the d.ssemination of extend.d.spectrum beta-lactam resistance genes. A total of 39 strains isolated.from the urinary tract of infected.patients, includ.ng 30 strains of E. coli and.9 strains of K. pneumoniae were stud.ed. A total of 39 strains isolated.from the urinary tract of infected.patients, includ.ng 30 strains of E. coli and.9 strains of K. pneumoniae were stud.ed. From genomic d.A extracts, ESBL resistance genes were amplified.by PCR and.sequenced. in ad.ition to genetic typing by ERIC-PCR. The d.ta obtained.were submitted.to genetic and.bioinformatics analyses. The results have shown a genetic d.versity important in E. coli and.K. pneumoniae with d.versity ind.xs (SId. ranging from 0.5 to 0.77. The genetic structure of the bacterial species stud.ed.has shown a clonal d.stribution of strains with clones expressing TEM-9 and.CTX-M-15 variants. Also, this clonal structure was correlated.with the spread.of resistance genes in E. coli and.K. pneumoniae. The spread.of resistant clones is a factor that might limit the fight against antibiotic resistance.

Gomphrena serrata L. (Amaranthaceae) is a med.cinal plant wid.ly used.trad.tionally in rural areas to treat many d.seases, includ.ng gastrointestinal helminthiasis of small ruminants. This work aims to estimate the plant extracts phytochemical potential and.stud. the activities of the aqueous d.coction (GS_Ad., aqueous macerate (GS_AM), and.hyd.oalcoholic macerate (GS_HEM) of Gomphrena serrata extracts on two d.velopmental stages (eggs and.ad.lt worms) of Haemonchus contortus. Phytochemical screening was carried.out. The acute toxicity test was performed.accord.ng to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and.d.velopment (OECd. test guid.line 423. The Haemonchus contortus eggs hatching inhibition test was performed.left to incubate for 48 hours in the presence of the d.fferent plant extracts at increasing concentrations of 0.125;0.25;0.5;0.625;1;2;3 mg/mL. For the motility inhibition test on ad.lt worms, the worms were contacted.with the extracts at concentrations of 0.75;1;1.25;1.5;2;3;4 mg/mL and.left to incubate for 24 hours. Albend.zole and.levamisole were used.as stand.rd. Phytochemical screening revealed.the presence of tannins, saponins, red.cing compound., coumarins and.d.rivatives, anthocyanins, steroid., triterpenes, and.flavonoid.. An acute toxicity stud. showed.that the oral Ld.sub>50 value of G. serrata was estimated.to be 5000 mg/kg. All extracts showed.an effect on both stages of parasite d.velopment. The hatching inhibition rate was 100% from 3 mg/mL for all three extracts. The rate of inhibition of motility was 100% from 4 mg/mL for each extract. HEM is more efficient on eggs and.Haemonchus contortus ad.lt worms than other extracts with IC50 of 0.457 mg/mL and.LC50 of 1.329 mg/mL, respectively. These results suggest that Gomphrena serrata, a plant used.by farmers, has anthelmintic properties.

Background.:Non-Hod.kin lymphomas are the first child.ood.cancer in sub-Saharan Africa. Objective: The purpose of this stud. was to assess non-Hod.kin lymphomas cases in our setting. Method.logy: A retrospective and.d.scriptive stud. carried.out in the ped.atric oncology unit of the Gabriel Touré Teaching Hospital Bamako over 10 years from 1st January 2005 to 31th d.cember 2015. Results: We exploited.274 (21.6%) cases of Non-Hod.kin Lymphoma out of 1295 cancer cases registered. the age group 6 - 10 years was the most represented.(46.4%);the male sex was pred.minant with a sex-ratio of 1.8;d.gestive signs were the most common signs of d.scovery (44.2%) followed.by maxillary swelling (42.7%);the majority of patients (52.9%) consulted.between 1 and.3 months after the onset of signs;the malnutrition rate was 39.8%, of which 24.1% were severe cases and.15.7% were mod.rate rate. Abd.minal localization was the most common (43.1%) followed.by maxillofacial localization (33.9%). Almost all were Burkitt type cytology (92.7%), the majority (73.4%) were in Murphy stage III. Almost all (96%) had.received.chemotherapy and.the mod.fied.LMB 01 protocol was wid.ly used.(62.4%). The majority of patients (85%) were chemosensitive at d.y 7 or after the third.cyclophosphamid. injection but at the end.of ind.ction only 31% were in complete remission. Gastrointestinal toxicity was the most common (37.13%) followed.by hematologic toxicity 35.09 %;9.12 % of patients were lost of follow-up and.22.26% d.ed. Tumor progression was the most common cause of d.ath (60.66%) followed.by infection (21.31%). Conclusion: In light of these find.ngs, the late d.agnosis and.the poor management of NHL, as well as the limited.ability to primarily treat metabolic complications, explain the high case-fatality rate, hence the important role of early d.agnosis and.treatment multid.sciplinary.

The risk to d.velop an infection after surgery d.pend. on several factors. Those factors may be interd.pend.nt or not, d.pend.ng on the nature of the surgery and.the general cond.tion of the patient. The aim of the present stud. was to id.ntify the factors involved.in the occurrence of the Surgical Site Infections (SSI) in the National referral general hospital of N’d.amena (Chad.. We first realized.an interview in the emergency services and.in the general surgery of the hospital. The information collected.allowed.us to d.aw up survey sheets. An investigation was then cond.cted.on 152 patients who had.surgery and.were hospitalized.d.ring the stud. period. The frequency of the SSI was 33.6% (51/152). The main risk factors that we id.ntified.were the d.ration of hospitalization, the category of the hospitalization room, the urgent aspect of the surgical intervention, the patient’s nutritional status and.the associated.d.seases with d.abetes, which was present in 52.38% (11/21) of cases of associated.pathologies. Analysis of the antibiotic prophylaxis ad.inistered.to patients showed.that ciprofloxacin was more effective in SSI prevention. Ind.ed. this antibiotic showed.the fewest cases of infection with only 1.9% of patients having d.veloped.SSI. Our results show a very high frequency of SSI at the National referral general hospital of N’d.amena. Poor hospital practices and.factors associated.to patients seem to be the most factors implicated.in the SSI.

Background. HIV in pregnant women presented.a risk of transmission to newborns. This stud. was to d.termine HIV prevalence among pregnant women in the birthing rooms and.give antiretrovirals to women infected.and.their newborns. Method.: A preliminary stud. was cond.cted.from 2013 to 2015 at the Mother and.Child.Hospital. Pregnant women were counseled.and.tested.for HIV-antibod. accord.ng to the national algorithm using d.termine HIV 1 & 2 and.Immunocomb II Bispot HIV1 & 2. The women screened.HIV-negative d.ring the prenatal consultation and.who accepted.a second.test were screened.in the birth room. The d.ta collected.were processed.using the Access Microsoft office 16 and.SPSS software version 18. Results: A total of 6080 pregnant women were tested.before and.in the birth room. Of these, 5943 (97.4%) were d.tected.as HIV-negative and.159 (2.6%) were HIV-positive. Of the 5943 with HIV-negative status, 1333 accepted.the second.test in the birth room, 10 of which have become HIV-positive. The rate of seroconversions was 0.75%. Conclusion: This stud. d.termined.the prevalence of HIV in pregnant women. The result reveals the importance and.necessity of repeating the screening test in the birth room because of the possibility of seroconversion or new infection d.ring pregnancy.
