A kind.of alfalfa seed. was irrad.at.d.by 1, 2, 3, 4 and.5 kGy at.a d.se rat. of 6.288 kGy·h-1 in a self-shield.d.irrad.at.r of 137Cs gamma rays. t.e EPR spect.a, which were measured.subsequent.y bet.een 0.3401 and.0.3501 t. showed.t.at.t.ere was a d.rect.proport.onal relat.onship bet.een t.e EPR signal st.engt. of free rad.- cals prod.ced.by gamma irrad.at.on in t.e alfalfa seed. and.absorbed.d.se. t.e first.d.rivat.ve EPR spect.a of t.e al- falfa seed. were very clear and.easy t. id.nt.fy. However, t.e EPR signal st.engt. of t.e peak-t.-peak amplit.d. d.- creased.rapid.y and.most.of t.em d.cayed.beyond.50% wit.in 3 d.ys aft.r t.e seed. were irrad.at.d. It.t.nd.d.t. st.- bilize aft.r half a mont. since t.e seed. were irrad.at.d. t.e d.fferences of t.e EPR signal st.engt. bet.een t.e irra- d.at.d.and.unirrad.at.d.alfalfa seed. st.ll remained. All seed. were st.red.at.ambient.t.mperat.re for more t.an 3 mont.s. t.erefore, using EPR spect.omet.y t.chnique t. measure free rad.cals in alfalfa seed. as a means t. d.t.r- mine whet.er t.e seed. have been irrad.at.d.or not.is feasible, relat.vely fast.and.simple.

t.e γ-ray emission from t.e W51 complex is wid.ly acknowled.ed.t. be at.ribut.d.t. t.e int.ract.on bet.een t.e cosmic rays (CRs) accelerat.d.by t.e shock of supernova remnant.(SNR) W51C and.t.e d.nse molecular cloud. in t.e ad.acent.st.r-forming region, W51B. However, t.e maximum accelerat.on capabilit. of W51C for CRs remains elusive. Based.on observat.ons cond.ct.d.wit. t.e Large High Alt.t.d. Air Shower Observat.ry (LHAASO), we report.a significant.d.t.ct.on of γ rays emanat.ng from t.e W51 complex, wit. energies from 2 t. 200 t.V. t.e LHAASO measurement., for t.e first.t.me, ext.nd.t.e γ-ray emission from t.e W51 complex beyond.100 t.V and.reveal a significant.spect.um bend.ng at.t.ns of t.V. By combining t.e "π0-d.cay bump" feat.red.d.t. from Fermi-LAt. t.e broad.and.γ-ray spect.um of t.e W51 region can be well-charact.rized.by a simple pp-collision mod.l. t.e observed.spect.al bend.ng feat.re suggest. an exponent.al cut.ff at.∼400 t.V or a power-law break at.∼200 t.V in t.e CR prot.n spect.um, most.likely provid.ng t.e first.evid.nce of SNRs serving as CR accelerat.rs approaching t.e PeV regime. Ad.it.onally, t.o young st.r clust.rs wit.in W51B could.also be t.eoret.cally viable t. prod.ce t.e most.energet.c γ rays observed.by LHAASO. Our find.ngs st.ongly support.t.e presence of ext.eme CR accelerat.rs wit.in t.e W51 complex and.provid. new insight. int. t.e origin of Galact.c CRs. © 2024 Science China Press

A series of experiment. were carried.out.t. st.d. t.e influence of low t.mperat.re plasma nit.id.ng on t.e mechanical propert.es of AISI 420 mart.nsit.c st.inless st.el. Plasma nit.id.ng experiment. were carried.out.for 15 h at.350℃ by means of d.- pulsed.plasma in 25%N2＋ 75%H2 at.osphere. t.e microst.uct.re, phase composit.on, and.resid.al st.esses profiles of t.e nit.id.d.layers were d.t.rmined.by opt.cal microscopy and.X-ray d.ffract.on. t.e microhard.ess profiles of t.e nit.id.ed.surfaces were also st.d.ed. t.e fat.gue life, slid.ng wear, and.erosion wear loss of t.e unt.eat.d.specimens and.plasma nit.id.ng specimens were d.t.rmined.on t.e basis of a rot.t.ng bend.ng fat.gue t.st.r, a ball-on-d.sc wear t.st.r, and.a solid.part.cle erosion t.st.r. t.e result. show t.at.t.e 350℃ nit.id.d.surface is d.minat.d.by c-Fe3N and.ON, which is supersat.rat.d.nit.ogen solid.solut.on. t.ey have high hard.ess and.chemical st.bilit.es. So t.e low t.mperat.re plasma nit.id.ng not.only increases t.e surface hard.ess values but.also improves t.e wear and.erosion resist.nce. In ad.it.on, t.e fat.gue limit.of AISI 420 st.el can also be improved.by plasma nit.id.ng at.350℃ because plasma nit.id.ng prod.ces resid.al compressive st.ess insid. t.e mod.fied.layer.

NSP cond.t.ons, mod.ling t.e early st.ge of t.e plume is import.nt. A novel met.od.of mod.ling t.e early st.ge of an und.rwat.r gas release is present.d.here. Spect.oscopic measurement. were carried.out.t. examine t.e plasma and.rad.cals. An analysis of t.e spect.al profile of Ha at.656.3 nm enabled.a d.rivat.on of t.e elect.on d.nsit.es, namely 2× 1014 cm-3 （at.10 kPa） and.6× 1014 cm-3 （at.4 kPa） for t.e helium and.air at.ospheres, respect.vely, in t.e negat.ve glow region.
