BACKGROUNd Relapsing polychondritis(RP)is a rare inflammatory disease involving the systemic cartilage,such as the auricle,trachea,and bronchiole,among others.A patient with RP shows variable symptoms based on the involved *** SUMMARY A 72-year-old Japanese woman with a history of redness of the bilateral auricles for 3 d was referred to a *** clinician prescribed antibiotics to the patient;however,the symptoms worsened;thus,she was referred to our *** and neck magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)showed edematous auricle with remarkable contrast,fluid collection in the bilateral mastoid cells,suggesting otitis *** eustachian tube(ET)on the right side was also edematous with contrast *** patient was suspected of RP according to the diagnostic criteria.A biopsy of the auricular cartilage was performed by an otorhinolaryngologist,confirming pathological proof of *** with steroids were immediately administered *** We highlight a rare case of RP with radiologically confirmed involvement of ET in the MRI.

AIM To determine whether oral glutathione(GSH)administration can alleviate the effects of fasting-induced intestinal atrophy in the small intestinal mucosa. METHOdS Rats were divided into eight *** group was fed ad libitum,another was fed ad libitum and received oral GSH,and six groups were administrated saline(SA)or GSH orally during *** height,apoptosis,and cell proliferation in the jejunum were histologically evaluated.i NOS protein expression(by immunohistochemistry),nitrite levels(by high performance liquid chromatography,as a measure of NO production),8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine formation(by ELISA,indicating ROS levels),glutathione/oxidized glutathione(GSH/GSSG)ratio(by enzymatic colorimetric detection),andγ-glutamyl transpeptidase(Ggt1)mR NA levels in the jejunum(by semi-quantitative RT-PCR)were also estimated. In Critique of Pure Reason （1996）, Immanuel Kant says that the term ＂aesthetic＂ means ＂the science of the laws of sensibility＂ and suggests giving up usage of it to indicate ＂the critique of taste＂ which executes the criticism of the beautiful. It is well known that Gilles deleuze was inspired by all genres of the arts, namely movies, paintings, music, and so on. However, this paper argues that what is more essential for deleuzian philosophy is aesthetics as a science of sensibility. What motivated deleuze, especially from the 1950s to the 1960s, seems to have consisted in discovering the weaknesses of the Kantian aesthetic in order to take it apart. In fact, one of the main themes in difference and Repetition （1994） was to free ＂sensibility＂ itself from Kant＇s philosophical system. This theme subsisted in his writing even after the 1970s, and led him to develop a ＂natural philosophy＂ of sorts. This is because the supposition that ＂the sensibility itself＂ is independent from any human faculties gave him an opportunity to carefully consider the multiplicity and productivity of Nature itself. Finally, deleuze created his own ＂ethology＂ that would capture the increasingly interrelated movements within Nature produced by heterogeneous elements. This paper describes the process of deleuzian thought as outlined above, surveying his view of Kantian philosophy and the development of his natural philosophy as ＂the aesthetics of Nature.＂

development of inhomogeneous deformation is an interest matter in material engineering. Synchrotron radiation tomography provides 3d distribution map of local strain in polycrystalline aluminum alloy by tracking microstructural features. To perform further deep analysis on development of inhomogeneous deformation, crystallographic grain orientation is necessary. Three-dimensional X-ray diffraction technique was developed. A new crystallographic orientation measurement method was described in 3d space, utilizing grain boundary tracking （GBT） information.

Histological changes at an endosonography-guided biliary drainage site:A case report

Endosonography-guided biliary drainage (ESBd) is a new method enabling internal drainage of an obstructed bile duct. However,the histological conditions associated with fistula development via the duodenum to the bile duct have not been reported. We performed ESBd 14 d preoperatively in a patient with an ampullary carcinoma and histologically confirmed changes in and around the fistula. The female patient developed no complications relevant to ESBd. Levels of serum bilirubin and hepatobiliary enzymes declined quickly,and pancreatoduodenectomy was carried out uneventfully. The resected specimen was sliced and stained with hematoxylin-eosin. Histological evaluation of the puncture site in the duodenum and bile-duct wall,and the sinus tract revealed no hematoma,bile leakage,or abscess in or around the sinus tract. Little sign of granulation,fibrosis,and inflammatory cell infiltration was observed. Although further large-scale confirmatory studies are needed,the findings here may encourage more active use of ESBd as a substitute for percutaneous transhepatic drainage in cases with failed/difficult endoscopic biliary stenting.

Risk factors and prevention of biliary anastomotic complications in adult living donor liver transplantation

To evaluate risk factors of biliary anastomotic complications （BACs） and outcomes according to type of biliary reconstruction. METHOdS： A total of 33 consecutive adult living donor liver transplantation （LdLT） were reviewed, 17 of which had undergone duct-to-duct anastomosis （d-d）. The remaining 16 patients received Roux-en-Y anastomosis （R-Y）. The perioperative factors, such as the type of graft and the number of graft bile ducts, were analyzed retrospectively. RESULTS： The overall incidence of BACs was 39.4%. The incidence of BACs was significantly higher in the patients with than without neoadjuvant chemotherapy （71.4% vs 10%, P = 0.050）. There was no significant difference in the incidence of biliary leakage in patients with d-d vs. those with R-Y. The incidence of biliary strictures following the healing of biliary leakage was significantly higher in d-d （60%） than in R-Y （0%）（P = 0.026）. However, the incidence of BACs related bacteremia was significantly higher in R-Y than in d-d （71.4% vs 0%, P = 0.008）. In d-d, use of T-tube stent remarkably reduced the incidence of 8ACs, compared with straight tube stent （0% vs 50%, P = 0.049）. CONCLUSION： Our experience showed an increase of BACs related bacteremia in the patients with R-Y. Therefore, d-d might be a preferred biliary reconstruction. However, the surgical refinement of d-d should be required because of the high incidence of biliary strictures. Use of the T-tube stent might lead to a significant reduction of BACs in d-d.

Composite materials composed of LiMnO2, a typical electrode material for lithium ion battery, and a chiral cyanide-bridged Ni（Ⅱ）-Fe（Ⅲ） coordination polymer [NiL2][Fe（CN）6]·4H2O （Ni-Fe, H-form）（L = （1R,2R）-（-）-1,2-cyclohexane-diamine） or its deuterium isomer, [NiL2][Fe（CN）6]·4d2O （Ni-Fe, d-form） have been prepared by the various ratios （w/w） of Ni-Fe：LiMnO2 = 10：0 （pure Ni-Fe）, 9：1, 8：2, 7：3, 6：4, 5：5, 4：6, 3：7, 2：8, 1：9 and 0：10 （pure LiMnO2）. Gradual shift of IR （infrared） spectra by changing the ratios and losing difference between H-form and d-form of Ni-Fe due to isotope effects revealed adsorption of Ni-Fe onto LiMnO2 to form composite materials. Formation of composite materials of Ni-Fe and LiMnO2 could be also proved losing ferromagnetic behavior of LiMnO2 on increasing of the ratios of Ni-Fe in each composite. In contrast to smoothly positive thermal expansion of pure LiMnO2 along the crystallographic b axis, variable temperature powder XRd （X-ray diffraction） patterns at 100-300 K of the composite materials exhibited thermally-accessible lattice distortion along the b axis with different ratios. It is also proved deviation of ideal linear correlation of an evaluation function, In K = a/T ＋ b （where, K = （d（T） - d（0））/d（T）, d（T） denotes nλ/（sin 2θ） at T （K））.
