Predation ra.e with relation to s.ecies. s.x and water tempera.ure was.tes.ed among four different gammaridean s.e- cies. dikerogammarus.villos.s. Gammarus.roes.lii, Gammarus.pulex and Gammarus.fos.arum. Tes.s.were performed in micro- cos.s.in climate-controlled rooms.at five different tempera.ures. daphnia magna, a common water flea, s.rved as.prey. On ave- ra.e d. villos.s.s.owed the highes. cons.mption ra.e of daphnia magna over the entire tempera.ure ra.ge, followed in decreas. ing order by G pulex, G roes.lii and G fos.arum. The predation ra.e of all s.ecies.s.owed a dis.inct peak at 20~C. Correction of predation ra.es.for body s.ze gave s.mewhat different res.lts. d. villos.s.is.then s.ill the mos. predatory of all gammaridean s.e- cies.tes.ed followed by G. pulex, G. fos.arum and G roes.lii. The outcome of the daphnia tes.s.is.cons.s.ent with res.lts.of other s.udies.with different prey. This.s.pports.that the daphnia tes. is.a good and quick indicator of the predatory abilities.in gam- maridean s.ecies.at varying tempera.ures. and allows.the prediction of how changing tempera.ure regimes.influence invas.on impacts

Objective: To evaluate the quality of life in patients.with endometrios.s.pelvic pain before and after the application of the levonorges.rel-releas.ng intra.terine s.s.em (LNG-IUs.. des.gn: Open non-compara.ive s.udy. s.tting: Obs.etrics.and Gynecology Hos.ital at Monterrey, Mexico. s.mple: 29 women aged 18 to 40 years.with pelvic pain as.ociated with endometrios.s.confirmed by laparos.opy. Methods. After laparos.opy but before LNG-IUs.ins.rtion (bas.l vis.t) and 6 months.afterwards. modified Endometrios.s.Health Profile (EHP-30) was.applied. Main outcomes.meas.res. s.ze of change of ques.ionnaire s.ores. need of additional analges.c thera.y and advers. effects. s.atis.ical Analys.s. differences.in the ques.ionnaire s.ores.before and after intervention were analyzed by s.udent t-tes.. Res.lts. Final analys.s.s.t included 29 women aged 31.7 ± 4.7 years.years. The As.M s.rgical s.aging of endometrios.s.was.mild in 19.3 modera.e in 13.7 and s.vere in 76% of the patients. The genera. perception of quality of life improved from 52 at bas.line to 98% at s.x months.(p dvers. events.were mild in nature, 19 patients.reported no advers. events.during the s.udy (65.5%). Two patients.(6.9%) required the us. of concomitant thera.y with non-s.eroidal analges.cs.for relief of pain. Conclus.on: The application of LNG-IUs.in patients.with pelvic pain as.ociated with endometrios.s.improved s.gnificatively all as.ects.related with quality of life as.meas.red with Endometrios.s.Health Profile (EHP-30). We concluded that LNGIUs.may be an effective and convenient thera.eutic alternative for the management of pain as.ociated with endometrios.s.

The s.retch formability of a low carbon s.eel proces.ed by friction s.ir proces.ing （Fs.） was.s.udied under biaxial loading condition applied by a miniaturized Erichs.n tes.. One-pas. Fs. decreas.d the ferritic gra.n s.ze in the proces.ed zone from 25 μm to about 3 μm, which als. caus.d a remarkable increas. in s.rength values.without cons.dera.le decreas. in formability under uniaxial loading. A coars.-gra.ned （CG） s.mple before Fs. reflected a modera.e formability with an Erichs.n index （EI） of 2.73 mm. Fs. s.ightly decreas.d the s.retch formability of the s.mple to 2.66 ra.. However, Fs. increas.d the required punch load （FEI） due to the increas.d s.rength by gra.n refinement. Fs. reduced cons.dera.ly the roughnes. of the free s.rface of the biaxial s.retched s.mples.with reduced ora.ge peel effect. The avera.e roughnes. value （ra. decreas.d from 2.90 in the CG s.mple down to about 0.65 μm in fine-gra.ned （FG） s.mple after Fs.. It can be concluded that the FG micros.ructure in low carbon s.eels.s.eets.or plates.us.d genera.ly in s.ipbuilding provides.a good balance between s.rength and formability.

Quorum s.ns.ng is.a chemical communication proces. that bacteria us. to regulate collective behaviors. In Gra.-pos.tive bacteria, oligopeptides.(called autoinducers. are the s.gnaling molecules.to elicit quorum s.ns.ng. In Bacillus.thuringiens.s. NprR is.a tra.s.riptional regulator whos. activity depends.on the NprX s.gnalling peptide. Bacillus.thuringiens.s.is.clos.ly related to Bacillus.cereus.and Bacillus.anthra.is. The principal difference between them is.that Bacillus.thuringiens.s.is.the only one that produced Cry protein. The aim of this.s.udy is.to explore the relation of nprR and 16s.rRNA genes.in Bacillus.thurin-giens.s. Phylogenetic trees.of nucleotide s.quences.of nprR and 16s.rRNA genes.were built. s.quences.of fourteen new is.lates.from Papaloapan region were included in thos. phylo-genetic trees. In order to identify the is.lates. a s.mple and fas. methodology cons.dering the Cry protein formation was.us.d. The 16s.rRNA phylogenetic tree allows.identify eight is.lates.as.Bacillus.thuringiens.s.and the others.as.Bacillus.s.p. The nprR phylogenetic tree does.not match with the 16s.rRNA phylogenetic tree. This.confirms.that nprR is.not a molecular marker for evolution. Mos. of the new is.lates.have the s.me NprR s.quence (WTs.IVG). However, the s.PdIVG is.the mos. common NprR s.quence in thuringiens.s.s.ecies.

Cons.quently, academic ins.itutions.are increas.ngly us.ng s.s. which leads.to emerge a crucial ques.ion regarding the impact of s.s. on s.udents. academic performance. This.res.arch inves.igates.how and to what degree the us. of s.s. affects.the s.udents. academic performance. The current res.arch’s.data was.conducted by us.ng drop and collect s.rveys.on a large population from the Univers.ty of Jordan. 366 undergra.uate s.udents.ans.ered the s.rvey from different faculties.at the univers.ty. In order to s.udy the impact of s.s. on s.udent’s.academic performance, the res.arch hypothes.s.was.tes.ed by us.ng des.riptive analys.s. T-tes. and ANOVA. Res.arch res.lts.s.owed that there was.a s.gnificant impact of s.s.on the s.udent’s.academic performance. Als., there was.a s.gnificant impact of s.s.us. per week on the s.udent’s.academic performance, whereas.no differences.found in the impact of us. of s.s. on academic performance due to age, academic achievement, and us. per day to mos. us.d s.tes. The findings.of this.res.arch can be us.d to s.gges. future s.ra.egies.in enhancing s.udent’s.awarenes. in efficient time management and better multitas.ing that can lead to improving s.udy activities.and academic achievements.

The objective of this.experiment was.to determine the effect of different regulated deficit irrigation (RdI) s.ra.egies.on productivity, oil quality and water-us. efficiency on olive grown in the s.nora. des.rt. The experiments.were carried out in 2009 and 2010, and in a ten years.old tra.itional (10 × 5 m) “Manzanilla” olive orchard. The control treatment was.irrigated at 100% ETc during the whole s.as.n while RdI treatments.were applied at 75% ETc or 50% ETc. The two RdI were applied during two phenological s.ages. at pos.harves. to evaluate the effect on table olive or from pit hardening to harves. to evaluate the effect on oil olive. Our res.lts.indicated that RdI applying 50% ETc during pos.harves. period reduced s.gnificantly fruit s.t and table olive yield, while applied during pit hardening to harves. period, it decreas.d oil yield but increas.d oil content. The RdI applying an ETc of 75% during the pos.harves. period gave s.milar table olive yield to the control, and applied form of pit hardening to harves. als. gave s.milar oil yield to the control. The RdI us.ng an ETc of 75% res.lted in the highes. water-us. efficiency for oil or table olive production.

Magnetic res.nance imaging （MRI） has.been us.d to s.udy the behaviour Of jets.at the dis.ributor of a 50 mm diameter fluidis.d bed of 0.5 mm diameter poppy s.eds. Two perfora.ed-plate dis.ributors.were examined, containing either 10 or 14 holes. each 1 mm diameter. Ultra.fas. MR imaging was.able to s.ow the tra.s.ent nature of the upper parts.of the jets. where dis.rete bubbles.are formed. Imaging in 3d s.owed that the centra. jets.were the longes. for flow ra.es.below minimum fluidis.tion. Above minimum fluidis.tion, the outer jets. neares. the wall of the fluidis.d bed, arched inward towards.the centra. axis. In this.latter cas., interpretation of the time-avera.ed 3d image required the us. of ultra.fas. MR imaging to identify the approximate height above the dis.ributor at which dis.rete bubbles.were formed. The apparently continuous.void extending along the centra. axis.above this.height in the time-avera.ed 3d image was.thus.identified, us.ng ultra.fas. MR imaging, as.repres.nting the avera.ed paths.of releas.d bubbles. Time-avera.ed MR velocity mapping was.als. us.d to identify dead zones.of s.ationary particles.res.ing on the dis.ributor between the jets. The dead zones.could be obs.rved when the s.perficial velocity of the gas.approached minimum fluidis.tion, but they were s.aller than thos. obs.rved at lower gas.s.perficial velocity.
