Cytogenetic Investigation in Patients with Clinical Suspicion of Genetic Syndrome in Manaus, Brazil

Chromosomal alterations can cause a number of diseases;therefore,early detection of these alterations is fundamental in the prevention and treatment of various *** this sense,the objective of this study was to perform cytogenetic analysis of patients with phenotypic characteristics not yet clarified in order to determine the frequency of chromosomal alterations in patients treated in the public health system in Manaus,Brazil.A total of 98 patients with clinical suspicion of genetic syndrome were referred to the public health system in Manaus,Amazonas *** analyses were performed from lymphocyte culture and subsequent *** data were obtained through referral files and chromosomal a *** the 98 karyotypes analyzed,65(66.3%)presented normal karyotype,18(18.4%)presented chromosomal alterations and 15(15.3%)were *** the alterations found,11(61.1%)corresponded to alterations of the numerical type and 7(38.9%)of the structural *** the chromosomal alterations identified,the one with the highest frequency was aneuploidy,which was significantly represented by 9 patients with down’s syndrome,and different karyotypic mechanisms related to this syndrome were *** was also one case of deletion,one case of pericentric inversion,and two involving the sex *** etiological confirmation of congenital anomalies is extremely important for the patient’s prognosis,and it is necessary to invest in cytomolecular tests,such as FISH and microarray in order to increase the rate of diagnosis.

t-SNE:A study on reducing the dimensionality of hyperspectral data for the regression problem of estimating oenological parameters

In recent years there is a growing importance in using machine learning techniques to improve procedures in precision agriculture:in this work we perform a study on models capable of predicting oenological parameters from hyperspectral images of wine grape berries,a specially relevant topic to boost production tasks for ***,we explore the capabilities of a novel technique mostly used for visualization,t-distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding(t-SNE),for reducing the dimensionality of the highly complex hyperspectral data and compare its performance with Principal Component Analysis(PCA)method,which despite the introduction of many nonlinear dimensionality reduction techniques over the years,had achieved the best results for real-world data across several studies in *** we explore the potential of Kernel t-SNE,an extension to the t-SNE method that allows for the usage of the technique in streaming data or online *** results show that,in a direct comparison,t-SNE achieves better metrics than PCA for most of the data sets in this work and that the regressor(Support Vector Regression,SVR)performs better with the t-SNE reduced features as inputs,accomplishing better predictions with lower error *** the results with current literature,our shallow learning model paired with t-SNE achieves either better or on par results than those reported,even competing with more advanced models that use deep learning techniques,which should propel the introduction of t-SNE in more studies that require dimensionality reduction.

Organic Light Emitting diodes with Lithium Contained Alq3 as Electron Injection Layer

lNovel lithium doped tris 8 hydroxylquinoline aluminium(Alq3:Li) layer is deposited between emission layer and electron injection aluminium electrode as an electron injection assistant layer in different organic light emitting diodes(OLEd) to lower the electron injection barrier. In these devices, Alq3 is used as emission layer, and a bilayer film of N,N bis (1 naphhyl) N,N diphenyl 1,1 biphenyle 4,4' diamine(NPB) and 4,4,4' tris(3 methyl phenylphenylamino) triphenylamine( m MTdATA) used as hole transport layer(HTL). The electroluminescent performance of devices with different thicknesses of Alq3∶Li shows that the insertion of the lithium doped Alq3 layer can reduce the turn on voltage by at least 2 volts, and the stability of devices with this lithium doped Alq3 layer is improved too. It can also change the efficiency of devices. Compared with an ultra thin lithium fluoride(LiF) layer, Alq3∶Li sheet gives similar effects but higher efficiency and can be much thicker and hence it is easier to control the deposition.

Integrated CO_(2)capture and reduction catalysis:Role ofγ-Al_(2)O_(3)support,unique state of potassium and synergy with copper

Carbon dioxide capture and reduction(CCR)process emerges as an efficient catalytic strategy for CO_(2)capture and conversion to valuable chemicals.K-promoted Cu/Al_(2)O_(3)catalysts exhibited promising CO_(2)capture efficiency and highly selective conversion to syngas(CO+H_(2)).The dynamic nature of the Cu-K system at reaction conditions complicates the identification of the catalytically active phase and surface *** present work aims at more precise understanding of the roles of the potassium and copper and the contribution of the metal oxide ***γ-Al_(2)O_(3)guarantees high dispersion and destabilisation of the potassium phase,potassium and copper act synergistically to remove CO_(2)from diluted streams and promote fast regeneration of the active phase for CO_(2)capture releasing CO while passing H_(2).A temperature of 350℃is found necessary to activate H_(2)dissociation and generate the active sites for CO_(2)*** effects of synthesis parameters on the CCR activity are also described by combination of ex-situ characterisation of the materials and catalytic testing.

Teratocytes are specialized cells released by parasitoid wasps into their *** are known for producing regulatory molecules that aid the development of imma-ture *** have recently reported the primary structures of cystine-rich peptides,including some containing inhibitor cystine knot(ICK)motifs,produced by teratocytes of the parasitoid Cotesia flavipes(Hymenoptera:Braconidae).ICKs are known for their stability and diverse biological *** this study,we produced four putative ICK peptides from the teratocytes of *** using solid-phase peptide synthesis or recom-binant expression in ***,and investigated their functions on host immune modulation as well their potential to impair the development of two lepidopterans after ingestion of the *** addition,the peptides were assayed against pathogens and human *** peptides did not influence total hemocyte count but suppressed cellular immunity,detectable as a reduction of hemocyte encapsulation(CtICK-I,CftICK-II,CtICK-I)and spread indexes(CftICK-IV)in the *** of the peptides influenced the activi-ties of prophenoloxidase and phenoloxidase in the hemolymph of larval diatraea sacchar-alis(Lepidoptera:Crambidae).CftICK-I and CftICK-II with previously unknown function showed antifungal activity against Candida albicans but were non-toxic to human ***-I,CftICK-II,and CftICK-II increased larval mortality and reduced leaf consump-tion of ***,a permissive host for *** CftICK-III also increased larval mortality and reduced leaf consumption of Spodoptera frugiperda(Lepidoptera:Noctuidae),a non-permissive host for *** study highlights biological func-tions and biotechnological potential of ICK peptides from the teratocytes of ***.

We consider particular compatible orders on a given completely simple semi- group Sx= M（（x）; I, A; P） where （x） is an ordered cyclic group with x 〉 1 and p11= x-1. Of these, only the lexicographic and bootlace orders yield residuated semigroups. With the lexicographic order, Sx is orthodox and has a biggest idempotent. With the bootlace order, the maximal idempotents of Sx are identified by specific locations in the sandwich matrix. In the orthodox case there is also a biggest idempotent and, for sandwich matrices of a given size, uniqueness up to ordered semigroup isomorphism is established.

Exploring spatial relationships between stream channel features,water depths and flow velocities during flash floods using HEC-GeoRAS and Geographic Information Systems

Water depths and flow velocities decisively influence the damage caused by flash *** Information System(GIS)is a powerful and useful tool,allowing the spatial analysis of results obtained by hydraulic modelling,namely from the HEC-RAS/HEC-GeoRAS *** GIS spatial analysis performed in this study seeks to explain and quantify the spatial relationships between the stream channel features and flow components during flash flood *** these relationships are generically known,there are few studies exploring this subject in different geographic contexts.A 1d hydraulic model was applied in a small watershed in Portugal,providing good results in the definition of floodable areas,water depths and longitudinal *** direct relationship was found between water depths and velocities in the floodable areas;however,negative strong correlations were found between the two flow components along the stream *** slope,channel and flood width,and roughness prove to be highly relevant on the longitudinal variations of water depths and velocities and on the location of maximum *** peak discharges and return periods(R;)can change the relationships between water depths and velocities at the same *** can be improved with more accurate elevation data for stream channels and floodplains.
