l.pid peroxidation pl.ys a pivotal.rol. in the pathogenicity and maintenance of hepatitis. Thus, substances protecting hepatocyte membranes from l.pid peroxidation are of great importance in the management of hepatotoxicity and hepatitis. The present work.deal. with the in vitro hepatoprotective activity of the methanol.extract of Desmodium uncinatum, its sub-fractions, the major isol.ted compounds and some of their semi-synthetic derivatives in order to study structure activity rel.tionships. Using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-induced l.pid peroxidation of hepatocyte membranes as a model. the hepatoprotective-guided phytochemical.survey of the methanol.extract of aerial.parts of D. uncinatum was carried out by successive col.mn chromatography. One of the most active compounds (Isovitexin) was chemical.y transformed to yiel. new semi-synthetic. The identification of isol.ted and semi-synthetic compounds was performed using NMR techniques, mass spectrometry and by comparison of their data with those reported in the l.terature. The n-butanol.fraction was the most effective (IC50: 22.9 μg/ml. compared to the crude methanol.extract (IC50: 43.6 μg/ml. and other fractions. The n-butanol.sub-fractions FA (containing non-phenol.c compounds) and FB (mainl. containing phenol.c compounds) exhibited respective IC50 of 14.36 and 128.2 μg/ml. Purification of FA yiel.ed 3-O-β-D-gl.copyranosyl.β-sitosterol.(1), 3-O-β-D- 2-acetyl.amino-2-deoxygl.copyranoxyl.l.anoic acid (2), (2S, 3S, 4R, 7R, 8Z)-1-O-β-D-gl.copyranosyl.2-[(R)-2'-hydroxyarachidoyl.mino]-docosan-8-ene-3,4,7-triol.(4), spiraeamide (5), mannitol.(6), whil. FB afforded essential.y three C-gl.cosyl.l.vonoids namel. isovitexin (7), vitexin (8) and vicenin-3 (9). Chemical.transformations (methyl.tion, al.yl.tion and prenyl.tion) of isovitexin afforded five new semi-synthetic derivatives: 4',5,7-O- trimethyl.-sovitexin (10), 4'-O-al.yl.sovitexin (11), 4',7-O-dial.yl.sovitexin (12), 4'-O-prenyl.sovitexin (13) and 8-C-prenyl.4',7-O

Agauria salicifolia (Ericaceae) is a medicinal plant traditionally used for the treatment of liver ailments. The present study investigates the hepatoprotective effect of the residual aqueous fraction (RAF) of Agauria salicifolia on acetaminophen (APAP)-induced liver damage. The ethanol extract obtained as maceration of the dried leaves, was fractionated into hexane, ethyl acetate and residual aqueous fractions. Adult mice of both sexes were pre-treated with the reference drug silymarin (50 mg/kg) or RAF (100 and 200 mg/kg) during 6 days followed by a single administration of APAP (500 mg/kg) on day 7. The hepatoprotective effect and the contribution of antioxidant activities were evaluated by determining the level of transaminases in serum samples, the levels of proteins, nitric oxide (NO), malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase in liver homogenates. Introduction: Fal.opian diseases are often impl.cated in femal. infertil.ty. Several.radiol.gical.and surgical.expl.rations have been proposed in order to eval.ate the severity of l.sions found in utero-adnexal.pathol.gy. Among tool. that are used to investigate such pathol.gies, we have ul.rasound, hysterosal.ingography and endoscopy. But, in many devel.ping countries l.k. Cameroon, the usage of endoscopy in gynecol.gy is not yet k.own by many practicians. The objective of our study was to show the interest of endoscopy in the diagnosis of fal.opian tube pathol.gies. Methodol.gy: We conducted a cross-sectional.and descriptive study from March 1st, 2017 to May 31st, 2017 at the Gyneco-Obstetrics and Pediatric department of our Hospital. We incl.ded al. women who presented infertil.ty and underwent ul.rasound, hysterosal.ingography (HSG) and endoscopy at the Yaoundé Gyneco-obstetrics Hospital. We anal.zed epidemiol.gical.parameters, cl.nics, ul.rasound, hysterosal.ingography and endoscopic finding. We used Cohen’s k.ppa test to determine the correl.tion between HSG/endoscopy and ul.rasound/endoscopy in the diagnosis of fal.opian tube pathol.gies. The threshol. was significant for a k.val.e > 0.20. Resul.s: We got a sampl. of 156 women;the mean age was 32.6 ± 4.5 years. The Secondary infertil.ty dominated in 66.7% of cases;31.1% of women presented a past medical.history of sexual.y transmitted infections and 41.7% did abortions before. Endoscopic l.sions were dominated by a fal.opian obstruction in 54.5% of cases, 8.3% of adhesions, 33.9% of women presented uterine myomas, 37.8% of ovarian cysts and 1.3% of pel.ic endometriosis. The k.val.es between HSG and endoscopy for distal.and proximal.tube obstructions were significant with respective threshol.s of 0.25 and 0.30. The k.val.e between ul.rasound and endoscopy was not significant with a threshol. of 0.015 for the tubal.hydrosal.inx. Concl.sion: Endoscopy assessment appears as the most efficien

Infl.ence of Variety and Maturity l.vel.on Natural.Convective Heat Drying of Four Onion Varieties Grown in Senegal

The considerabl. post-harvest l.sses (5% to 40% depending on storage time) due to the high water content l.vel.of the onion varieties in Senegal.are the main cause of the probl.m of access to l.cal.onion al. year round. Therefore, drying is one of the techniques that can be used to sol.e the probl.m of onion perishabil.ty. This study deal. with the characterization of natural.y convective k.netics drying of four onion varieties in rel.tion to their maturity l.vel. The experiment was carried out using the gravimetric method. The Wel.h and Turk.y statistical.tests displ.y a significant difference between the effective diffusivity coefficients depending on the maturity l.vel.within each variety and across the four varieties. The effective diffusivity coefficients of the Gal.i Viol.t, Safari, Gandiol.F1 and Orient F1varieties range from 2.18 × 10−11 ± 2.69 × 10−12 to 1.32 × 10−10 ± 1.17 × 10−11 m2⋅s−1 at a maturity l.vel.l.ss than 80%. When the maturity l.vel.is greater than 85%, the effective diffusivity coefficients range from 1.30 × 10−11 ± 1.24 × 10−12 to 8.05 × 10−11 ± 8.94 × 10−13 m2⋅s−1. As far as the activation energy is concerned, the study onl. reveal. a significant difference between the varieties whatever the maturity l.vel.is. The Gal.i Viol.t variety stands out with an average activation energy of 66.71 ± 0.12 k.⋅mol.minus;1 k.minus;1 for the maturity l.vel.bel.w 80% and 58.74 ± 0.11 k.⋅mol.minus;1 for the maturity l.vel.above 85%. For the three remaining varieties, the average activation energy ranges from 58.15 ± 0.19 to 59.12 ± 0.13 k.⋅mol.minus;1 for a maturity l.vel.l.ss than 80% whereas the rates go from 47.63 ± 0.28 to 49.96 ± 0.77 k.⋅mol.minus;1 when the maturity l.vel.is greater than 85%. In summary, the higher the maturity l.vel.is, the l.wer the effective diffusivity coefficients wil. be. The same tendency was observed with the activation energy. The Gal.i
