A Multi-Criteria Decision Support System for the Selection of Low-Cost Green Building Materials and Components

The necessity of having an effective computer-aided decision support system in the housing construction industry is rapidly growing alongside the demand for green buildings and green building products. Identifying and defining financially viable low-cost green building materials and components, just like selecting them, is a crucial exercise in subjectivity. With so many variables to consider, the task of evaluating such products can be complex and discouraging. Moreover, the existing mode for selecting and managing, often very large information associated with their impacts constrains decision-makers to perform a trade-off analysis that does not necessarily guarantee the most environmentally preferable material. This paper introduces the development of a multi-criteria decision support system (DSS) aimed at improving the understanding of the principles of best practices associated with the impacts of low-cost green building materials and components. The DSS presented in this paper is to provide designers with useful and explicit information that will aid informed decision-making in their choice of materials for low-cost green residential housing projects. The prototype MSDSS is developed using macro-in-excel, which is a fairly recent database management technique used for integrating data from multiple, often very large databases and other information sources. This model consists of a database to store different types of low-cost green materials with their corresponding attributes and performance characteristics. The DSS design is illustrated with particular emphasis on the development of the material selection data schema, and application of the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) concept to a material selection problem. Details of the MSDSS model are also discussed including workflow of the data evaluation process. The growth in the sizes of business organizations and the advent of corporate governance has made investors to heavily rely on the necessity of internal and external controls for prudent management of their *** controls are indispensable in ensuring that processes operate as designed and business risk management are carried out in a bit to achieve the ultimate goal of *** such,the study sought to examine the implications of internal control systems on the performance of financial institutions in Ghana with the particular case of Access Bank Ghana in view of setting out standard procedures for internal control *** achieve the aims,primary data was gather from workers in the different branches of Access Bank Ghana in Ghana via *** data was gathered was analysed using tables,charts and test *** results revealed that Access Bank Ghana already has a good internal control mechanism back by a high level of implementation of the rules and ***,it also showed a serious problem being that of providing feedback and having the potential of jeopardizing the entire system and eventually ***,the chi-squares test showed significant relationship between internal control systems and financial performance of Access Bank Ghana at a 5% level of significance meaning that internal control systems directly affect the performance of the ***,the major recommendation was that feedback on routine internal control should be accessible to those concerned so as to reduce the risk of bribery and or organized crime between defaulters and internal controllers.

原则上,食叶的滇金丝猴(Rhinopithecus bieti)和杂食的猕猴(Macaca mulatta)是可以同地共栖的,但这两种灵长类究竟是如何同地共存却一直是一个鲜见涉足的问题。该文初步通过分析它们的食性和生境需求来阐明两者共存的可能性。在猕猴取食约22种植物中,有16种也是滇金丝猴的取食对象。两种灵长类都显示出喜食果实。人们尚未发现滇金丝猴涉足人类作物等相关资源,但发现猕猴经常侵食庄稼。这与其生活海拔不同有关:滇金丝猴一般生活在平均海拔为3218m的山林中,而猕猴活动在平均海拔为2995m的林地。猕猴也会涉足牧场,而滇金丝猴回避这种场地。对于这两个种,混合的落叶阔叶/针叶林是最频繁使用的森林类型;滇金丝猴很少进入常绿阔叶林(青冈属群落,利用率仅3%),而猕猴相对进入这类林型的机会远比滇金丝猴高(36%)。两个物种的群体间常相互远离(2.4km)。当其相遇时,常是猕猴主动回避。上述结果提示滇金丝猴和猕猴是通过大生境分化利用和空间避让来共存的。尽管不同的生境利用策略一定程度上会反映种间竞争的存在,但这种不同更可能反映着它们不同的生理/生态需求。

Growth hormone releasing peptide 2 reverses anorexia associated with chemotherapy with 5-fluoruracil in colon cancer cell-bearing mice

The cancer-associated anorexia-cachexia syndrome is observed in 80% of patients with advanced-stage cancer, and is one of the major obstacles in chemo- therapy. Ghrelin is a orexigenic hormone that has been proposed to prevent anorexia. Aim of the study was to determine whether the addition of the ghrelin agonist growth hormone releasing peptide 2 (GHRP-2) to cytotoxic therapy with 5-fluoruracil (5-FU) prevents the anorexia associated with chemotherapy in cancer cachectic mice. Thirty-three BALB/c female tumourbearing mice were randomized to receive a solution containing: (a) placebo; (b) GHRP-2; (c) 5-FU; or (d) 5-FU + GHRP-2. Ten BALB/c no tumour-bearing mice received placebo solution. Food intake and survival were checked. Six hours after the drug injection the cumulative food intake was signifi cantly increased in mice treated with the combination of 5-FU + GHRP-2 versus the 5-FU alone (P = 0.0096). On day 3, the cumulative food intake of mice treated with GHRP-2,5-FU and 5-FU + GHRP-2 signifi cantly increased com- pared with naive and vehicle groups (P = 0.0007, P = 0.0038 and P = 0.0166, respectively). The median survival time was longer in 5-FU + GHRP-2 treated mice than in those with 5-FU, although it was not signifi cant (18 d versus 15.5 d, P = 0.7). For the fi rst time, we demonstrated that the addition of GHRP-2 to cytotoxic therapy with 5-FU improved appetite in tumour-bearing mice with anorexia/cachexia syndrome in early stage. These data suggest that GHRP-2 may improve the effi cacy of therapy and the quality of life of cancer patients thank to the amelioration of their nutritional state.

Raman Optical Activity and Raman Spectra of Amphetamine Species--Quantum Chemical Model Calculations and Experiments

Theoretical calculations and preliminary measurements of vibrational Raman optical activity (ROA) spectra of different species of amphetamine (amphetamine and amphetamine-H+) are reported for the first time. The quantum chemical calculations were carried out as hybrid ab initio DFT-molecular orbital calculations by use of the Gaussian 03W program, based on complete geometry minimizations of the conformational energy of the S-(+)-amphetamine molecule, the S-(+)-amphetamine-H+ ion, and the R-(–)-amphetamine molecule. Following this, harmonic frequency calculations have been made, providing information about the cation vibrational bands, expected in salts of single anions (chlorides) as well as in salts of anions with internal bonds (sulfates, hydrogen phosphates, etc.). It shows that the kind of anion should be given better attention, as so far it has often not been the case, when the spectra are employed for identification purposes. The DFT calculations show that the most stable conformations are those allowing for close contact between the aromatic ring and the amine hydrogen atoms. The internal rotational barrier within the same amphetamine enantiomer has a considerable influence on the Raman and ROA spectra. As predicted the experimental ROA spectra were found to depend on the chirality. Two street samples, provided by the London Police, were also measured and compared to the calculated ROA spectra. The street samples were found to contain different enantiomers of the protonated amphetamine-H+ sulfate. According to the present study the AMPH+ ion in aqueous sulfate solution seems to adopt a conformation in which the phenyl and ammonium groups are in transpositions, similar to what has been found in the solid state.

自2012年浙江大学肖丰收教授(***.,2012,134,15173-15176)首次提出无溶剂法合成分子筛以来,该路线已备受关注.无溶剂合成分子筛方法具有废液少、产率高、安全系数高等优点.本文针对合成气经费托路线(FTS)一步法制备富含异构烷烃汽油馏分的研究,通过无溶剂研磨法制备了分子筛封装金属催化剂.一般来说,烷烃异构化催化剂的性能主要取决于分子筛的孔道结构及其酸性,其次是分子筛晶粒大小、结晶度和表面性质等因素.本文对比了三种具有相同拓扑结构的MFI分子筛(Silicalite-1,HZSM-5和NaZSM-5)对汽油和异构烷烃选择性的影响规律.结果显示,在CO转化率(~30%)近似相同的情况下,具有最弱酸性的Silicalite-1封装的Co颗粒表现出最高的汽油选择性(~70%)和异构烷烃选择性(~30.7%).这意味着正构烷烃异构化反应只需要弱酸即可实现,较强的酸性则会使其发生过度裂解反应.Py-IR谱图显示,Silicalite-1在1445 cm-1附近的L酸是区别于NaZSM-5和HZSM-5的一个重要酸性位,可作为FTS路线制备富含异构烷烃汽油的一个关键参数.另外,与封装型(Co@MFI)催化剂相比,浸渍型催化剂(Co/MFI)的汽油选择性明显偏低,可能与金属活性位与分子筛酸性位之间的距离有直接关系.因此,无溶剂合成分子筛是一条具有前景和适宜放大的催化剂合成路线.对于合成气经费托路线制取富含异构烷烃汽油反应,正构烷烃在分子筛催化剂上的裂解和异构化之间的竞争反应是核心问题.未来有待突破的研究方向包括:(1)多支链异构烷烃的合成,目前对于有效调控多支链烷烃的生成关注较少;(2)反应路线的设计,合成气经甲醇路线,联合甲醇制汽油(MTG)反应获得异构烷烃;(3)裂解反应的抑制;(4)分子筛孔道/笼对异构烷烃选择性的调控机制.
