BACKGROUND Air embolism is a very rare,yet serious and potentially fatal complication of digestive endoscopic treatment.Air embolism is the result of air directly entering the arteries or veins.However,to recognize neurological dysfunction under sedation can be difficult.Therefore,it is extremely important to identify high-risk groups and take preventive measures.CASE SUMMARY Herein,we report a 74-year-old female patient with esophageal varices who suffered from consciousness disturbance after the third endoscopic ligation of esophageal varices under sedation.Combined with the patient’s imaging examination results and medical history,we highly suspected that the patient had developed paradoxical cerebral air embolism during endoscopic ligation.We learned that the patient died at a later follow-up.In order to be able to identify and prevent the occurrence of air embolism early,we summarize and analyze the risk factors,pathogenesis,clinical manifestations,prevention and treatment options of gastrointestinal endoscopy complicated by cerebral air embolism.CONCLUSION Electroencephalographic monitoring helps to recognize the occurrence of air embolism in time and increase the patient's chance of survival.

Accurate simulations of pure-viscoacoustic wave propagation in tilted transversely isotropic media

Forward modeling of seismic wave propagation is crucial for the realization of reverse time migration (RTM) and full waveform inversion (FWI) in attenuating transversely isotropic media. To describe the attenuation and anisotropy properties of subsurface media, the pure-viscoacoustic anisotropic wave equations are established for wavefield simulations, because they can provide clear and stable wavefields. However, due to the use of several approximations in deriving the wave equation and the introduction of a fractional Laplacian approximation in solving the derived equation, the wavefields simulated by the previous pure-viscoacoustic tilted transversely isotropic (TTI) wave equations has low accuracy. To accurately simulate wavefields in media with velocity anisotropy and attenuation anisotropy, we first derive a new pure-viscoacoustic TTI wave equation from the exact complex-valued dispersion formula in viscoelastic vertical transversely isotropic (VTI) media. Then, we present the hybrid finite-difference and low-rank decomposition (HFDLRD) method to accurately solve our proposed pure-viscoacoustic TTI wave equation. Theoretical analysis and numerical examples suggest that our pure-viscoacoustic TTI wave equation has higher accuracy than previous pure-viscoacoustic TTI wave equations in describing qP-wave kinematic and attenuation characteristics. Additionally, the numerical experiment in a simple two-layer model shows that the HFDLRD technique outperforms the hybrid finite-difference and pseudo-spectral (HFDPS) method in terms of accuracy of wavefield modeling. Dear Editor:Corticosteroids are widely used in the treatment of critically ill patients for active anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects.However,the therapeutic effects of corticosteroid treatment are still disputable.Some studies have shown that corticosteroids can delay coronavirus RNA clearance[1],increase mortality[2]and cause adverse events[3].Conversely,other studies have confirmed the clinical value of corticosteroids in shortening hospital stays and decreasing the need for mechanical ventilation[4].

Autotomy,the self-induced loss of a body part,is one of the most extreme forms of defense against predation.It occurs in a variety of animal taxa,including both vertebrates and invertebrates(Fleming et al.2007).The most commonly seen examples are spiders,lizards,and crustaceans(Emberts et al.2019)(Fig.1).By performing the autotomy behavior,animals can effectively survive predation or non-predatory entrapment,or reduce the cost of injury(Emberts et al.2019;Wuthrich et al.2022).

An effective approach in solving the sea clutter spectrum extraction problem is studied in the paper.Different from the conventional signal to noise ratio（SNR）method based on Doppler frequency or range domain information,a method is developed to characterize the differences between the sea echo and those interferences are by signal to interference plus noise ratio（SINR）which jointly utilizing the range,Doppler frequency and azimuth domain information.Furthermore,these differences can be adaptable to adverse conditions by forming the necessary boundaries and constraints in searching of the maximum SINR,which greatly promotes the extraction of sea clutter spectrum.The real high frequency surface wave radar（HFSWR）data demonstrate that the proposed method is less influenced by those interferences and can effectively extract the sea clutter spectrum even under the adverse conditions.Furthermore,it has been shown as an effective method for ship detection and sea state remote sensing of HFSWR.

Aerial edge computing for 6G

In the 6 th generation mobile communication system(6 G) era, a large number of delay-sensitive and computation-intensive applications impose great pressure on resource-constrained Internet of things(IoT) devices. Aerial edge computing is envisioned as a promising and cost-effective solution, especially in hostile environments without terrestrial infrastructures. Therefore, this paper focuses on integrating aerial edge computing into 6 G for providing ubiquitous computing services for IoT devices. This paper first presents the layered network architecture of aerial edge computing for 6 G. The benefits, potential applications, and design challenges are also discussed in detail. Next, several key techniques like unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) deployment, operation mode, offloading mode, caching policy, and resource management are highlighted to present how to integrated aerial edge computing into 6 G. Then, the joint UAV deployment optimization and computation offloading method is designed to minimize the computing delay for a typical aerial edge computing network. Numerical results reveal the significant delay reduction of the proposed method compared with the other benchmark methods. Finally, several open issues for aerial edge computing in 6 G are elaborated to provide some guidance for future research.

On-demand regulation of molecular weight distribution(MWD)is crucial to influence the properties of polymers.In this work,we reported an organocatalyzed photo-controlled radical polymerization(photo-CRP)from the tosyl chloride initiator by combining two disulfides as chain transfer agents.This novel synthetic protocol allows facile access toward well-defined polymers with tunable MWDs and predetermined molecular weights.Experiments including structural characterization,kinetic investigation and chain-extension polymerization exhibited good chain-growth control for polymers of different dispersities.Given the easy accessibility of the initiating site(sulfonyl chloride)on many aromatic sources,this work presents a promising avenue to modify such substances with polymers of tailored MWDs,chain lengths and repeating units under metal-free and mild conditions driven by light.

The onset of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)involves many factors,including environmental parameters,microorganisms,and the immune system.Although research on IBD continues to expand,the specific pathogenesis mechanism is still unclear.Protein modification refers to chemical modification after protein biosynthesis,also known as post-translational modification(PTM),which causes changes in the properties and functions of proteins.Since proteins can be modified in different ways,such as acetylation,methylation,and phosphorylation,the functions of proteins in different modified states will also be different.Transitions between different states of protein or changes in modification sites can regulate protein properties and functions.Such modifications like neddylation,sumoylation,glycosylation,and acetylation can activate or inhibit various signaling pathways(e.g.,nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB),extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK),and protein kinase B(AKT))by changing the intestinal flora,regulating immune cells,modulating the release of cytokines such as interleukin-1β(IL-1β),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),and interferon-γ(IFN-γ),and ultimately leading to the maintenance of the stability of the intestinal epithelial barrier.In this review,we focus on the current understanding of PTM and describe its regulatory role in the pathogenesis of IBD.

藏药止泻木子挥发油超临界提取工艺、GC-MS分析及抑菌活性研究

为探讨藏药止泻木子挥发油提取工艺及其主要化学成分和抑菌活性,通过正交实验筛选并优化了藏药止泻木子挥发油的超临界CO2提取工艺,并对萃取的挥发油进行GC-MS分析和抑菌试验。发现超临界CO2萃取止泻木子挥发油的最佳条件为萃取时间2.3 h,萃取压力25 MPa,萃取温度40℃;GC-MS分析结果共鉴定出10个主要化合物,其中六甲基环三硅氧烷、十甲基环五硅氧烷、十二甲基环六硅氧烷的含量较高;在相同的样品浓度下,止泻木子对5种细菌和2种真菌均有抑菌作用,其中对金黄色葡萄球菌和白色念珠菌的抑菌率分别达到82.8%和60%,对宋氏志贺氏菌、短小芽孢杆菌、藤黄微球菌等都有一定的抑菌作用。超临界CO2萃取技术提取止泻木子挥发油具有得油率高、速度快等特点,是一种简便易行的方法。其挥发油的抑菌效果明显,具有较高的研究和开发价值。

【目的】为有效支撑突发事件画像,融合文本信息对社交媒体图像进行分类。【方法】分析基于社交媒体的突发事件画像基本流程,并面向突发事件画像描述维度需求设计了具有双层结构的图像分类体系,进而提出一种融合图像和文本多模态语义的图像分类深度学习模型UCTM(UniModal and CrossModal Transformer Model),在“台风山竹”事件数据集上开展对比实验,并构建了示例画像。【结果】融合多模态信息的UCTM模型MAP指标比单模态分类方法和双线性融合方法高0.021以上;在应对信息(准备)和应对信息(救援)两个类别上,两阶段层次化分类策略的F1值比直接分类策略分别高0.017和0.018。【局限】模型未考虑图文语义不一致的情况,实验涉及的突发事件类型较为单一。【结论】本文方法能够丰富突发事件画像维度和内容,有助于提升突发事件态势感知的精确性和全面性。
