Multimodal collaborative BCI system based on the improved CSP feature extraction algorithm

Background As a novel approach for people to directly communicate with an external device,the study of brain-computer interfaces(BCIs)has become well-rounded.However,similar to the real-world scenario,where individuals are expected to work in groups,the BCI systems should be able to replicate group attributes.Methods We proposed a 4-order cumulants feature extraction method(CUM4-CSP)based on the common spatial patterns(CSP)algorithm.Simulation experiments conducted using motion visual evoked potentials(mVEP)EEG data verified the robustness of the proposed algorithm.In addition,to freely choose paradigms,we adopted the mVEP and steady-state visual evoked potential(SSVEP)paradigms and designed a multimodal collaborative BCI system based on the proposed CUM4-CSP algorithm.The feasibility of the proposed multimodal collaborative system framework was demonstrated using a multiplayer game controlling system that simultaneously facilitates the coordination and competitive control of two users on external devices.To verify the robustness of the proposed scheme,we recruited 30 subjects to conduct online game control experiments,and the results were statistically analyzed.Results The simulation results prove that the proposed CUM4-CSP algorithm has good noise immunity.The online experimental results indicate that the subjects could reliably perform the game confrontation operation with the selected BCI paradigm.Conclusions The proposed CUM4-CSP algorithm can effectively extract features from EEG data in a noisy environment.Additionally,the proposed scheme may provide a new solution for EEG-based group BCI research.

Ultraviolet light A irradiation induces immunosuppression associated with the generation of reactive oxygen species in human neutrophils

Ultraviolet blood irradiation has been used as a physical therapy to treat many nonspeci¯c diseases in clinics;however,the underlying mechanisms remain largely unclear.Neutrophils,the first line of host defense,play a crucial role in a variety of in°ammatory responses.In the present work,we investigated the effects of ultraviolet light A(UVA)on the immune functions of human neutrophils at the single-cell level by using an inverted°uorescence microscope.N-Formylmethionyl-leucyl-phenylalanine(FMLP),a classic physiological chemotactic peptide,was used to induce a series of immune responses in neutrophils in vitro.FMLP-induced calcium mobilization,migration,and phagocytosis in human neutrophils was significantly blocked after treatment with 365 nm UVA irradiation,demonstrating the immunosuppressive effects of UVA irradiation on neutrophils.Similar responses were also observed when the cells were pretreated with H2O2,a type of reactive oxygen species(ROS).Furthermore,UVA irradiation resulted in an increase in NAD(P)H,a member of host oxidative stress in cells.Taken together,our data indicate that UVA irradiation results in immunosuppression associated with the production of ROS in human neutrophils.

Dear Editor,Neuroticism,a crucial dimension of human personality,fluctuates from emotional stability to instability[1].Compared to those with emotional stability,individuals with emotional instability show stronger attentional bias to negative stimuli,lower life satisfaction,and tend to perform poorly(i.e.,fewer correct responses)in cognitive tasks.For instance,individuals with different emotional stabilities experience distinct decision-making responses,especially when facing inequity,as the unfairness induces typical conflict between self-interest and fairness[2].

Leaching kinetics of fluorine during the aluminum removal from spent li-ion battery cathode materials

The high content of aluminum(Al)impurity in the recycled cathode powder seriously affects the extraction efficiency of Nickel,Cobalt,Manganese,and lithium resources and the actual commercial value of recycled materials,so Al removal is crucially important to conform to the industrial standard of spent li-ion battery cathode materials.In this work,we systematically investigated the leaching process and optimum conditions associated with Al removal from the cathode powder materials collected in a wet cathode-powder peeling and recycling production line of spent li-ion batteries(liBs).Moreover,we specifically studied the leaching of fluorine(F)synergistically happened along with the removal process of Al,which was not concerned about in other studies,but one of the key factors affecting pollution prevention in the recovery process.The mechanism of the whole process including the leaching of Al and F from the cathode powder was indicated by using NMR,FTIR,and XPS,and a defluoridation process was preliminarily investigated in this study.The leaching kinetics of Al could be successfully described by the shrinking core model,controlled by the diffusion process and the activation energy was 11.14 kJ/mol.While,the leaching of F was attributed to the dissolution of liPF6and decomposition of PVDF,and the kinetics associated was described by Avrami model.The interaction of Al and F is advantageous to realize the defluoridation to some degree.It is expected that our investigation will provide theoretical support for the large-scale recycling of spent liBs.

Additives strategies to improving cycling stability of li metal batteries by modifying electrode electrolyte interphases

li metal batteries（LMBs） have attracted much attention due to the ultra-high theoretical capacity of the li metal anode（LMA）.However,the uncontrollable dendrites growth and low coulombic efficiency hinder their practical application.Here,we explore 3,5-difluoropyridine（2F-BD） as a novel electrolyte additive to enable highperformance LMBs.The 2F-BD additive participates in and modifies the solvation structure of li ions by reducing the coordinated number of PF6-at the electrode surface,leading to the formation of a liF and li3N-rich solid electrolyte interphase（SEI）.The liF component increases the robustness of SEI and suppresses the formation of li dendrites,while the li3N component facilitates the transportation and reaction kinetics of li ions.As a result,the li‖li symmetric cell presents a stable cycling performance of up to 500 h at a current density of 1 mA cm-2.After coupling with liFePO4cathode,the obtained full cell achieves high specific capacities of 106.06 mA h g-1and 84.98 mA h g-1at 2.55 mA cm-2and 5.10 mA cm-2,respectively,and maintains a high capacity retention of84.0% after 1000 cycles at 0.13 mA cm-2,with an average cycling CE of 99.58%.

基于脑电网络图特征的情绪识别研究

针对情绪脑电信号提出一种网络图特征学习与情绪识别算法。首先,利用情绪脑电数据构建对应的情绪脑电网络;其次,在由情绪脑电网络尺度定义的高维空间构建脑电网络样本间的局部邻接关系图以挖掘样本集的分布特性,进而得到样本集的图拉普拉斯矩阵;在此基础上,进一步利用谱图理论对情绪脑电网络的最优低维空间映射进行求解,在保留原始样本局部邻接关系的前提下实现对情绪脑电网络的降维与重新表达,并将每个情绪脑电网络样本表示成1组脑电网络特征集;最后利用提取到的情绪脑电网络特征集,结合支持向量机分类学习算法,针对情绪识别任务进行识别模型的训练和学习,实现对情绪状态的准确解码与识别。在国际公开情绪脑电数据集的实验结果表明:相较于传统情绪识别算法,本文所提方法能有效提升情绪识别准确率,在基于公开数据集的多类情绪识别任务中分别达到91.85%(SEED数据集,3类)、79.36%(MAHNOB-HCI数据集,3类)和79%(DEAP数据集,4类)的稳健识别效果。

脑电信号幅值微弱且信噪比低易受到多种伪迹影响。其中,眼电伪迹幅值高、随机性强,常使脑电信号产生明显畸变,对信号的后续分析将产生极大的影响。传统伪迹去除方法难以精确定位伪迹成分,导致过多有效信息丢失。针对上述问题,该文提出一种基于数据驱动的自适应伪迹定位和去除方法。该方法将局部密度引入独立成分分析(ICA)并通过聚类分析自适应估计辨识脑电和噪声成分的阈值,最终实现了眼电伪迹的精准定位和去除。通过仿真和真实实验,该文对比了所提方法与传统伪迹去除方法在峰值信噪比、均方误差、互信息等量化指标下的性能差异,并通过统计检验揭示了所提方法相比于其他方法在信号恢复方面的显著性优势。

Highly-chlorinated inert and robust interphase without mineralization of oxide enhancing high-rate li metal batteries

Side reactions and dendrite growth triggered by the unstable interface and inhomogeneous deposition have become the biggest obstacle to the commercialization for lithium metal batteries.In this study,a highly-chlorinated organic-inorganic hybrid interfacial protective layer is developed by rationally tuning the interfacial passivation and robustness to achieve the convenient and efficient li metal anode.The polyvinyl chloride(PVC)can effectively resist water and oxygen,which is confirmed by density functional theory.The organic-dominant solid electrolyte interphases(SEI)with lithium chloride are investigated by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)with little mineralization of oxide,such as li_(2)O and li_(2)CO_(3).With such artificial SEI,a uniform and dense lithium deposition morphology are formed and an ultra-long stable cycle of over 500 h are achieved even at an ultra-high current density of 10 m A/cm^(2).Moreover,the simple and convenient protected anode also exhibits excellent battery stability when paired with the liNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2)(NCM811)and liFePO_(4)(LFP)cathode,showing great potential for the commercial application of lithium metal batteries.

Accelerating lithium-sulfur battery reaction kinetics and inducing 3D deposition of li2S using interactions between Fe3Se4 and lithium polysulfides

Although lithium-sulfur batteries（LSBs） exhibit high theoretical energy density,their practical application is hindered by poor conductivity of the sulfur cathode,the shuttle effect,and the irreversible deposition of li2S.To address these issues,a novel composite,using electrospinning technology,consisting of Fe3Se4and porous nitrogen-doped carbon nanofibers was designed for the interlayer of LSBs.The porous carbon nanofiber structure facilitates the transport of ions and electrons,while the Fe3Se4material adsorbs lithium polysulfides（liPSs） and accelerates its catalytic conversion process.Furthermore,the Fe3Se4material interacts with soluble liPSs to generate a new polysulfide intermediate,lixFeSycomplex,which changes the electrochemical reaction pathway and facilitates the three-dimensional deposition of li2S,enhancing the reversibility of LSBs.The designed LSB demonstrates a high specific capacity of1529.6 mA h g-1in the first cycle at 0.2 C.The rate performance is also excellent,maintaining an ultra-high specific capacity of 779.7 mA h g-1at a high rate of 8 C.This investigation explores the mechanism of the interaction between the interlayer and liPSs,and provides a new strategy to regulate the reaction kinetics and li2S deposition in LSBs.
