Cryopreservation of cells and tissues (natural or engineered) usually involves complicated protocols for addition and later removal of cryoprotecting agents to avoid osmotic shock and toxicity to cells. The rate of CPA addition and removal is essential to cell survival. In this study, the feasibility of using porous membrane to control the rate of CPA transfer to cell environment is studied, A purpose designed diffusion chamber was fabricated. The effects of membrane characteristics (porosity and effective thickness), temperature, and initial concentration were experimentally studied. A simplified mathematical model was developed, which provides the basis to desire the membrane parameters based on tile experimental measurements.

Electromagnetic Vibration Casting (EVC) is a new effective technical processing for optimiz.ng solidification microstructures of light alloys. In this paper, this technology was induced into magnesium alloy DC casting for providing high-quality large diameter billets. The effects of vibration frequency and current intensities on the microstructures of large diameter billets were investigated. The results indicate that electromagnetic vibration would refine grains and the reduce macrosegregation effectively.

In this paper, the Two-Scale computation Method (TSM) is presented for the mechanics parameters of composite materials with small periodic configuration, including stiffness parameters and strength parameters. Multi-Sensor Fusion Adaptive Estimation for Nonlinear Under-observed System with Multiplicative Noise

＜正＞This paper presents a numerical study on free-surface flow in curved open-channel. A new improved SIMPLEC algorthm with velocity-pressure-free-surface coupled correction is developed and validated. Such algorithm differt from the traditional SIMPLEC algorithm and includes three correction equations which are named as the velocity correction equation, the free-surface correction equation derived from the continuity equation with the kinematic boundary conditions on the free-surface and the bottom bed, and the pressure correction equation taking the same formation as the traditional SIMPLEC algorithm does. The new improved method, in this study is used to solve the incompressible, three-dimensional, Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stoges equation set combined with the standard κ-ε model and/or the low Reynolds number κ-ε model for free-surface viscous flow in curved open-channels. The power law scheme （POW） is used to discretiz. the convection terms in these equations with a finite-volume method. The practical cases studied are free-surface flow through the 180° curved open-channel with different hydraulic discharge rates. The comparisons between computations and experiments reveal that the model is capable of predicting the detailed velocity field, including changes in secondary motion, the distribution of bed shear, and the variations of flow depth in both the transverse and the longitudinal directions. Based on the modeling results, the new improved SIMPLEC algorithm is feasible and effective for numerical study on free-surface viscous flow in curved open-channels.

The adaptive fusion estimation problem was studied for the multi-sensor nonlinear under-observed systems with multiplicative noise. A one-step predictor with state update equations was designed for the virtual state with virtual noise first of all. An extended incremental Kalman filter(EIKF) was then proposed for the nonlinear under-observed systems. Furthermore, an adaptive filtering method was given for optimiz.tion. The fusion adaptive incremental Kalman filter weighted by scalar was finally proposed. The comparison analysis was made to verify the optimiz.tion of the state estimation using adaptive filtering method in the filtering process.

The soliton resolution conjecture proposes that the initial value problem can evolve into a dispersion part and a soliton ***,the problem of determining the number of solitons that form in a given initial profile remains unsolved,except for a few specific *** this paper,the authors use the deep learning method to predict the number of solitons in a given initial value of the Korteweg-de Vries(KdV)*** leveraging the analytical relationship between Asech^(2)(x)initial values and the number of solitons,the authors train a Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)that can accurately identify the soliton count from spatio-temporal *** trained neural network is capable of predicting the number of solitons with other given initial values without any additional *** extensive calculations,the authors demonstrate the effectiveness and high performance of the proposed method.

Dehydroepiandrosterone(DHEA) has been implicated not only to prevent N-methyl-D-aspartate(NMDA)-induced neurotoxicity but also to enhance Ca2+ influx through NMDA receptor(NMDAr). However, these DHEA effects, which would produce inconsistent outcomes about neuronal damages, are not well studied in ischemia-induced cerebral damages. Herein, we report that a single administration of DHEA(20 mg/kg) during 3 to 48 h after transient global cerebral ischemia in rats exerted neuroprotective effects such as reduction of isehemia-induced neuronal death in the hippoeampal CA1 and improvement of ischemia-induced deficits in spatial learning.

In this study,we systematically investigated the effect of proton concentration on the kinetics of the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)on Pt(111)in acidic *** results demonstrate a rectangular hyperbolic relationship,i.e.,the ORR current excluding the effect of other variables increases with proton concentration and then tends to a constant *** consider that this is caused by the limitation of ORR kinetics by the trace oxygen concentration in the solution,which determines the upper limit of ORR kinetics.A model of effective concentration is further proposed for rectangular hyperbolic relationships:when the reactant concentration is high enough to reach a critical saturation concentration,the effective reactant concentration will become a constant *** could be due to the limited concentration of a certain reactant for reactions involving more than one reactant or the limited number of active sites available on the *** study provides new insights into the kinetics of electrocatalytic reactions,and it is important for the proper evaluation of catalyst activity and the study of structureperformance relationships.
