Cardiac arrest(CA)is one of the most common causes of death.[1-3]Despite extensive studies on the management of CA,the global survival rate in adults is only approximately 7%,and 30-day survival is even less than 2%in China.[4]Some studies have shown that CA patients of cardiac and non-cardiac origin may differ in underlying diseases,clinical manifestations,and prognosis,which leads to diff erences in terms of the pathophysiological mechanism and treatment measure.[5,6]However,little is known about the risk factors in relation to the prognosis of CA across arrest etiologies.

Organic-rich shale resources remain an important source of hydrocarbons considering their substantial contribution to crude oil and natural gas production around the world. Moreover, as part of mitigating the greenhouse gas effects due to the emissions of carbon dioxide （CO2） gas, organic-rich shales are considered a possible alternate geologic storage. This is due to the adsorptive properties of organic ke- rogen and clay minerals within the shale matrix. Therefore, this research looks at evaluating the seques- tration potential of carbon dioxide （CO2） gas in kerogen nanopores with the use of the lattice Boltzmann method under varying experimental pressures and different pore sizes. Gas flow in micro/nano pores differ in hydrodynamics due to the dominant pore wall effects, as the mean free path （λ） of the gas molecules become comparable to the characteristic length （H） of the pores. In so doing, the traditional computational methods break down beyond the continuum region, and the lattice Boltzmann method （LBM） is employed. The lattice Boltzmann method is a mesoscopic numerical method for fluid system, where a unit of gas particles is assigned a discrete distribution function （/）. The particles stream along de- fined lattice links and collide locally at the lattice sites to conserve mass and momentum. The effects of gas-wall collisions （Knudsen layer effects） is incorporated into the LBM through an effective-relaxation- time model, and the discontinuous velocity at the pore walls is resolved with a slip boundary condition. Above all, the time lag （slip effect） created by CO2 gas molecules due to adsorption and desorption over a time period, and the surface diffusion as a result of the adsorption-gradient are captured by an adsorption isotherm and included in our LBM. Implementing the Langmuir adsorption isotherm at the pore walls for both CO2 gas revealed the underlying flow mechanism for CO2 gas in a typical kerogen nano-pore is dominated by the slip flow regime. The main purpose of the electrical power system is to transport and distribute energy generated by the central power plants in a safe and reliable manner to the customer premises. Most of the electrical equipment is exposed within the open which suggests they can be vulnerable to lightning strikes, road dwindling, windstorms, and a few engineering activities with the potential of causing different degrees of damage to the electrical equipment. One of the ways to guard the equipment is to deploy switching devices. However, the operations of most of these switching devices produce oscillatory transient in the electrical transmission and distribution systems which result in voltage, current, and frequency fluctuations in the load. This paper investigates the effect of switching devices on power quality and proposes a positive sequence voltage power transient suppression technique that can spontaneously improve the distorted voltage at the instant of capacitor switching using the capacitor line model as a case study. MATLAB/Simulink software was utilized for the analysis on an electrical network model with bus voltages of 69 kV/12.47 kV and 480 V. The results showed that, during switching operations, the positive sequence voltage power detector block produces ripple-free accurate results.

Voltage and frequency are usually considered and assessed independently in the design and operation of electrical networks. However, these two are linked. Each and every malfunctioning electrical system has an impact on both voltage and frequency. This paper presents the opportunity for monitoring the distributed electrical energy by means of a system that monitors, controls, and provides a breakpoint based on high or low voltage and frequency tripping mechanism that avoids any damage to the load. The designed system comprised a switch mode power supply (SMPS), a direct digital synthesizer (DDS), and PIC16F876A microcontroller techniques for stable voltage and frequency outputs. Proteus design suite version 8.11 software and Benchcope SDS1102CN were used for modeling and simulation. The hardware prototype was implemented at a telecom cell site for data capturing and analysis. Test results showed that the implementation of the prototype provided stable and constant outputs of 222 V/50 Hz and 112 V/60 Hz which constituted 99% and 99.8% efficiency for voltage and frequency performance respectively. The paper also discusses different technologies that can be adopted by the system to mitigate voltage and frequency effects on customer appliances.

Operators of renewable energy systems (RESs) must always manage uncertainty to some extent to ensure the reliability and the security of the electric power supply source. The guiding principle in this regard is to ensure service reliability and quality by balancing load variations with the variable renewable energy (VRE) sources. If the power generated by these VRE sources is not properly managed in conjunction with the varying load, the power grid may fail to achieve the required balance. To ensure its reliable operation, reliability analysis is vital for wind energy generation system (WEGS). This paper evaluated and assessed the reliability of WEGS and a proposed varying load by first using a stochastic approach to model the WEGS and the proposed varying load after which power generation indices were used to evaluate and assess the performance of the model. The WEGS and the varying load were modelled separately after which the two were combined into one model. Full availability, partial availability, the expected energy not supplied (EENS) or loss of energy expectation (LOEE), the mean or average instantaneous electric power generation and mean instantaneous generation deficiency were the indices used for the evaluation of the WEGS. The results indicated that the electric power generation will meet the power demand during most of the transition states of the WEGS with the expectation that the variation in the load will not be at fast pace and in large quantum.

Pseudospondias microcarpa is used in ethnomedicine to manage central nervous system *** hydroethanolic extract(PME)from the leaves of the plant has shown anxiolytic-like properties in mice anxiety ***,its effects in chronic anxiety models and possible mechanism(s)of action were not ***,the current study evaluated the anxiolytic-like mechanisms of PME in zebrafish models of *** zebrafish light dark test(LDT)and novel tank test(NTT)were employed to assess the anxiolytic-like effects of PME(0.1,0.3,1.0 mg mL^(−1)),fluox-etine(3×10^(−5)mg mL^(−1))and diazepam(1.5×10^(−7)mg mL^(−1)).The chronic unpredictable stress(CUS)test was used to further evaluate the extract’s anxiolytic-like *** potential mechanisms of anxiolytic action of the extract was evaluated after pre-treated with flumazenil,granisetron,methysergide,or pizotifen,all at 1×10^(−3)mg mL^(−1).The extract significantly decreased anxiety behaviours in the NT and LD *** observed effects of the extract were however counteracted by flumazenil,granisetron,methysergide and pizotifen *** addition,PME treatment significantly reversed CUS-induced anxiety behaviours in *** show that PME possesses anxiolytic-like effects possibly through interaction with serotonergic and gamma-aminobutyric acid mediated pathways.

基因治疗是指将外源的正常基因导入目标细胞,以纠正或补偿缺陷和异常基因引起的疾病,从而达到治疗目的,属于从基因水平治疗某些疾病的新措施和新技术。目前,主要的基因载体包括病毒或非病毒基因传递载体。病毒载体表现出很高的基因转移效率,但具有较多的副作用与安全隐患,主要为诱导宿主炎症和免疫反应。通过使用非病毒载体,例如阳离子聚合物或脂质体,可以避免上述安全隐患。它们主要与带负电荷的核酸类物质形成的复合物,是一类可以高效代替病毒类基因载体的明星材料。本工作中,我们主要使用二硫醇、甲醛和二仲胺为三组分聚合的单体,其聚合比例为1:2:1,通过无催化剂的多组分聚合方法制备了一类新的含有叔胺、硫醚和羟基的阳离子聚合物,以高产率（高达90%）制备结构明确的阳离子聚合物,该类聚合物具有较为适宜的分子量（重均分子量范围从5000Da到8000Da）。通过基因转染以及毒性评价,我们证实该类聚阳离子具有较高的转染效率（转染效率与PEI25k相比高达3.5倍）和较低的毒性,是一类极具前途的非病毒基因递送载体,且具有如下多种功能:（1）通过叔胺基团提供的正电荷可以进行有效的负电核酸包载;（2）硫醚基团可以高效清除活性氧（ROS）;（3）羟基可以有效地保护纳米粒子同时屏蔽正电荷,使其在血液循环中较为稳定。硫醚和羟基的引入都有助于通过调节氧化应激反应以及降低载体与血清的结合,从而降低聚阳离子的细胞毒性。经优化后,筛选处的聚阳离子可以在血清条件下实现高转染效率,表明其作为非病毒基因递送载体具有宽广的应用前景。

The study examined the determinant of mobile banking adoption among bank customers in Ghana, with specific emphasis on Access Bank. In line with literature, the study applies theoretical frameworks which have been developed from existing literatures on innovation and adoption to collect responses from one hundred and fifty (150) sampled customers of Access Bank in order to investigate the determinants of mobile banking adoption in the Ghanaian banking industry. The results from the study revealed that, each factor measured had some level of significant effect on consumer intention to adopt and use mobile banking services provided by Access Bank. Additionally, the study unveiled that, perceived credibility and perceived financial cost were the major setback with regards to customers adoption of mobile banking services provided by Access Bank, and as a result of this, Ghanaians have formed a negative behavioural pattern towards mobile banking. In addition, the findings showed that, perceived credibility and perceived financial cost have a stronger effect on consumer intention to adopt and use mobile banking service than perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. It was, therefore, recommended that banks in Ghana should create more awareness through personal interaction with customers, develop quality initiatives in order to build customer’s confidence. Equally, banks should also review the cost of their mobile banking service.

Changes in Rainfall Characteristics in Wenchi and Saltpond Farming Areas of Ghana

Ghana’s economy heavily relies on agriculture, which is predominantly rainfed across its agro-ecological zones. As a result of this, it is vulnerable to rainfall variability, which tends to have a major impact on the industrial and agricultural production sectors of the country. This study investigates the variations occurring across two major farming areas (Wenchi and Saltpond) within the Transition and Coastal Savannah agro-ecological zones of Ghana respectively. Rainfall variations are studied with rainfall data from 1968-2011 from Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet). The rainfall analysis is done over two Climatological Periods (CP), 1968-1989 as CP1 and 1990-2011 as CP2. This study uses two climatic extreme indices as well as rainfall amounts and onset over these two agro-ecological zones to investigate the changes that have occurred in rainfall. The study found that in the Coastal agro-ecological zone, CP1 had a decreasing rainfall trend as compared to CP2 with higher variations in Saltpond. In the Transition agro-ecological zone, Wenchi, CP1 also exhibited a decreasing trend as compared to CP2. In addition, onset of rains in Saltpond mostly occurred in May for CP1 but for CP2, it oscillated between April and May. For Wenchi, onset of rains was in March for CP1 and predominantly April for CP2. In going forward, farmers in these agro-ecological zones should be supported to practice effective adaptation and mitigation measures so as to improve their yields in this challenging climate.

Agriculture Technology as a Tool to Influence Youth Farming in Ghana

The extent of engagement of the youth going into farming is steadily seen as the modern-day panacea for sustainability and extenuation of food insecurity. Yet, this plodding-shift of the youth has opened new doors for a different problem that needs efficient agricultural resolution. The study examines the correlation between youth farming and the various factors that influence the youth to go into agriculture using data obtained from the Ghanaian youth. We applied Explanatory Factor Analysis (EFA) of the paradigms, with principal component factoring. The results justified using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) in AMOS and R. The results showed that technology outperforms factors such as motivation, economics, and government policies to significantly influence the youth towards farming. Attitude and knowledge were also found to have an indirect influence on youth farming. The paper contributes to the theoretical influence of technology on the youth and on the practicality of agricultural farming.
