The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic imposed arestructuring of global health systems by rethinking spaces used for the care of these patients and the additions of intensive care,infectious diseases and pneumology *** paper provides evidence on the presence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 in hepatocytes and its direct cytopathic activity,as well as the degree of liver damage due to drug toxicity,inflammation and hypoxia in COVID-19.A review of clinical trials has quantified liver damage through both pathology and biochemistry ***,we briefly present the results of a study conducted in our clinic on 849 patients admitted for COVID-19 treatment,of which 31 patients had pre-existing chronic liver disease and 388 patients had values above the normal limit for alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase,and total *** was observed that patients with abnormal liver tests were significantly statistically older,had more comorbidities and had a higher percentage of unfavourable evolution(death or transfer to intensive care).The conclusion of this paper is that the main causes of liver damage are direct viral aggression,coagulation dysfunction and endothelial damage,and patients with impaired liver function develop more severe forms of COVID-19 which requires special care by a multidisciplinary team that includes a hepatologist.

Genetic Diversity of Uropathogenic Escherichia coli Isolated from Human T Lymphotropic Virus Type I (HTLV-I) Infected Individuals

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a frequent pathology among HTLV-I+ individuals being capable of severely compromising the kidneys and bladder. Molecular characteristics of uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) from HTLV-I+ infected individuals are unknown. UPEC isolates from HTVL-I+ individuals, with and without clinical symptoms of myelopathy, were submitted to genetic typing seeking to infer bacterial diversity and potential virulence. 71 bacterial isolates were characterized according to random amplified polymorphic DNA and phylotypes. Phylotyping classified E. coli into four phylogenetic groups: A (18.3%), B1 (16.9%), B2 (39.4%), and D (25.3%) and 8 phylotypes according to the presence of the genetic sequences chuA, yjaA and the DNA fragment TSPE4.C2: ﹣﹣﹣ (5.6%) and ﹣+﹣ (12.6%) in phylogroup A, ﹣﹣+ (7.0%) and ﹣++ (9.8%) in B1, +++ (32.3%) and ++﹣ (7.0%) in B2, +﹣﹣ (15.4%) and +﹣+ (9.8%) in D. The B2 phylogroup was the most prevalent among HTLV﹣ associated myelopathy and asymptomatic individuals. RAPD-PCR typing revealed a high degree of bacterial polymorphism indicating a non-clonal origin. Genotypes were not found to be distributed according to clinical status or epidemiological features. Our results lead us to suggest that the neurological impairment in HTLV-I+ individuals can be a risk factor for urinary infections due E. coli which are caused by distinct bacterial lineages.

In recent years,hard carbon materials have gained significant interest as anode materials for Na-ion *** waste is considered one of the most interesting,renewable,available,and cost-effective precursor to obtain hard carbon(HC);however,HC properties must be finely tuned to achieve performance comparable to those provided by Li-ion *** this work,three biomass wastes(coconut shells,walnut shells,and corn silk) were evaluated as potential precursors for HC preparation involving a pyrolysis process and subsequent acid washing to remove the inorganic *** obtained materials exhibited low and similar specific surface areas(ial coulombic efficiency(iCE).The structural organization was higher in the case of the walnut shell HC,while the corn silk HC revealed a heterogeneous structure combining both highly disordered carbon and localized graphitized *** HCs delivered high initial reversible capacities between 293 and 315 mah g^(-1) at 50 ma g^(-1) current rate,which remained rather stable during long-term *** best capacity(293 mah g^(-1) after 100 charge/discharge cycles) and highest capacity retention(93%) was achieved in walnut HCs in half-cells,which could be associated with its higher sp2 C content,better organized structure,and fewer *** "adsorption-insertion" Na storage mechanism is suggested based on several *** walnut HCs exhibited an attractive energy density of 279 Wh/kg when tested in full cells.

Prevalence of Human Leukocyte Antigen HLA-B*5701 in HIV-1 Infected Individuals in Brazil

This study was designed to establish the prevalence of HLA-B*5701 at HIV-1 infected individuals in Brazil. A total of 517 consecutive individuals were followed in this study from February 2009 through July 2011. The presence of HLA-B*5701 was determined by Nested-PCR with HLA-B*57 and HLA-B*5701 sequence-specific primers (PCR-SSP). The expression of HLA-B*57 was negative in the 385 (74.5%) and positive in the 103 (19.9%) of infected individuals. Among these, the expression of HLA-B5701 was positive in the 29 (5.6%) of individuals. No demographic or ethnic differences were found between HLA-B*57/HLA-B*5701 HIV-1 negative patients, with a prevalence of Caucasians (57.1%) individuals. During the period of study, 68 patients were submited to an abacavir contain- ing regimen. The HLA-B*5701 allele was observed in 7 (10.3%) patients, with a significant incidence of Hypersensitivity reactions at 4 of them (p ian population consists of a mixture of individuals of Caucasian, African and Native American genetic background, prevalence of HLA-B*5701 in this population is similar to the one found in pure Caucasians.

Biostratigraphy versus isotope geochronology: Testing the Urals island arc model

Formation of the Urals volcanic-hosted massive sulphide(VHMS) deposits is considered to be related with the intra-oceanic stage of island arc(s) development in the Upper Ordoviciane Middle Devonian based on the biostratigraphic record of ore-hosting sedimentary rocks. However, the direct Re-Os dating of four known VHMS systems in the Urals gives significantly younger Re-Os isochron ages ranging from355 ± 15 ma up to 366 ± 2 ma. To address this discrepancy, we performed SHRIMP U-Pb dating on zircons extracted from rhyodacites(Eifelian biostratigraphic age of 393 -388 ma) from the footwall of the Alexandrinka VHMS deposit which has a Re-Os isochron age of sulphides of 355 ± 15 *** ^(206) Pb/^(238) U mean age of 374 ± 3 ma(MSWD ? 1.4 and probability ? 0.11) is considered to be the crystallisation age of the host volcanic rock. This age is ca. 15 ma younger than the Eifelian(393 -388 ma)biostratigraphic age and overlaps the Frasniane Famennian boundary(372 ± 2 ma), characterised by the final stages of magnitogorsk Arc e East European continent collision. Such an inconsistency with geochronological age may be due to a reburial of conodonts during resedimentation as a result of erosion of older rocks in younger sedimentary sequences.

Accounting and the ＂Doctor-manager Relationship＂

The adoption of the ＂new public management＂ in the hospital sector brought about greater presence and power to professional managers in hospitals, thus increasing the risk of conflict in the doctor-manager relationship. Aiming to enrich the discussion on the factors that could be the bases for this conflict and considering the role of accounting, the study presented here corresponds, basically, to what we call ＂content analysis＂ of qualitative studies. The results demonstrate that the Portuguese doctors as the sample studied accept, in essence, the principles of enterprise management and recognize the use of accounting information in the scope of their functions as long as they are called to participate as legitimate actors, and authorities respect their desires to preserve a practice which they consider of quality.

Challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of gestational trophoblastic neoplasia worldwide

Gestational trophoblastic neoplasia(GTN) is a rare tumor that originates from pregnancy that includes invasive mole, choriocarcinoma(CCA), placental site trophoblastic tumor and epithelioid trophoblastic tumor(PSTT/ETT). GTN presents different degrees of proliferation, invasion and dissemination, but, if treated in reference centers, has high cure rates, even in multi-metastatic *** diagnosis of GTN following a hydatidiform molar pregnancy is made according to the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics(FIGO)2000 criteria: four or more plateaued human chorionic gonadotropin(hCG)concentrations over three weeks; rise in hCG for three consecutive weekly measurements over at least a period of 2 weeks or more; and an elevated but falling hCG concentrations six or more months after molar evacuation. However,the latter reason for treatment is no longer used by many centers. In addition,GTN is diagnosed with a pathological diagnosis of CCA or PSTT/ETT. For staging after a molar pregnancy, FIGO recommends pelvic-transvaginal Doppler ultrasound and chest X-ray. In cases of pulmonary metastases with more than 1cm, the screening should be complemented with chest computed tomography and brain magnetic resonance image. Single agent chemotherapy, usually Methotrexate(MTX) or Actinomycin-D(Act-D), can cure about 70% of patients with FIGO/World Health Organization(WHO) prognosis risk score ≤ 6(low risk), reserving multiple agent chemotherapy, such as Ema/CO(Etoposide,MTX, Act-D, Cyclophosphamide and Oncovin) for cases with FIGO/WHO prognosis risk score ≥ 7(high risk) that is often metastatic. Best overall cure rates for low and high risk disease is close to 100% and > 95%, respectively. The management of PSTT/ETT differs and cure rates tend to be a bit lower. The early diagnosis of this disease and the appropriate treatment avoid maternal death,allow the healing and maintenance of the reproductive potential of these women.

Pre-Inoculation with <i>Bradyrhizobium</i>spp. in Industrially Treated Soybean Seeds

The objective of this study was to compare the effect of anticipated and traditional inoculation of Bradyrhizobium spp. in industrially treated soybean seeds. The experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design, with 10 treatments and 4 replications. Different combinations of insecticides and fungicides of industrial treatment of seeds, traditional inoculation and long-term (LT) inoculation, as well as different pre-inoculation periods performed at 0, 5 and 10 days before soybean sowing were evaluated. A treatment containing only nitrogen mineral fertilization and also a control treatment were included. The characteristics number of nodules per plant, seeds Nitrogen content, number of pods per plant, mass of thousand seeds and grain yield were evaluated. Results indicated that LT pre-inoculation combined with fludioxonil and thiamedoxan allowed seed storage up to 10 days without affecting soybean yield components.

Effects of chlorpyrifos on enzymatic systems of Cydia pomonella （Lepidoptera： Tortricidae） adults

The control program of codling moth （Cydia pomonella L.） in the Rio Negro and Neuqu6n Valley is intended to neonate larvae. However, adults may be subjected to sublethal pesticide concentrations generating stress which might enhance both mutation rates and activity of the detoxification system. This study assessed the exposure effects of chlorpyrifos on target enzyme and, both detoxifying and antioxidant systems of surviving adults from both a laboratory susceptible strain （LSS） and a field population （FP）. The results showed that the FP was as susceptible to chlorpyrifos as the LSS and, both exhibited a similar chlorpyrifos-inhibitory concentration 50 （IC50） of acetylcholinesterase （ACHE）. The FP displayed higher carboxylesterase （CarE） and 7-ethoxycoumarine O-deethylase （ECOD） activities than LSS. Both LSS and FP showed an increase on CarE activity after the exposure to low-chlorpyrifos concentrations, followed by enzyme inhibition at higher concentrations. There were no significant differences neither in the activities of glutathione S-transferases （GST）, catalase （CAT） and superoxide dismutase （SOD） nor in the reduced glutathione （GSH） content between LSS and FP. Moreover, these enzymes were unaffected by chlorpyrifos. In conclusion, control adults from the FP exhibited higher CarE and ECOD activities than control adults from the LSS. AChE and CarE activities were the most affected by chlorpyrifos. Control strategies used for C. pomonella, such as rotations of insecticides with different modes of action, will probably delay the evolution of insecticide resistance in FPs from the study area.
