BACKGROUNd The association of cardiovascular risk burden with d.sability is *** examined the association between trajectories of the Framingham general cardiovascular d.sease risk score(FGCRs)with the trajectories of limitations of physical function in older *** A total of 1219 participants with no d.sabilities from the International Mobility in Aging study(IMIAs)study who had up to three repeated measures of FGCRs between 2012–2016 and without a history of stroke or coronary heart d.sease at baseline and follow-up were *** at baseline was assessed and categorized into *** function was evaluated with the short Physical Performance Battery(sPPB).The data were analyzed using linear mixed-effects *** At baseline,FGCRs ranged between 3–94(mean score:24±15.8),participants were 32(2.6%),502(41.2%)and 685(56.2%)in lowest,middle,and highest tertiles,*** the trajectories of limitations of physical function,the lowest FGCRs had no differences,while the middle and highest had a decrease in physical performance between 2012–2014(P=0.0001).Age,being female,living in And.s Mountains,having middle and highest FGCRs,higher alcohol consumption,being obese,lack of exercise and cognitive impairment increase the probability of d.sability(Pdeveloped regions and having a higher educational level reduced the probability of d.sability during the follow-up time(PsIONs Higher cardiovascular risk burden is associated with decreased physical performance,especially in *** suggest sPPB may provide a measure of cardiovascular health in older adults.

Localized.states quantum confinement induced by roughness in CdMnTe/CdTe heterostructures grown on si(111) substrates

This work shows that d.spite a lattice mismatch of almost 20%, CdMnTe/CdTe/CdMnTe heterostructures grown directly on si(111) have surprisingly good optical emission properties. The investigated.structures were grown by molecular beam epitaxy and characterized by scanning transmission electron microscopy, macro-and micro-photoluminescence. Low temperature macro-photoluminescence experiments indicate three emission bands which depend on the CdTe layer thickness and have different confinement characteristics. Temperature measurements reveal that the lower energy emission band (at 1.48 eV)is associated to defects and bound exciton states, while the main emission at 1.61 eV has a weak 2d character and the higher energy one at 1.71 eV has a well-defined (zero-dimensional, 0d) 0d nature. Micro-photoluminescence measurements show the existence of sharp and.strongly circularly polarized (up to 40%) emission lines which can be related to the presence of Mn in the heterostructure. This result opens the possibility of producing photon sources with the typical spin control of the diluted magnetic semiconductors using the low-cost silicon technology.

Generalized polynomial chaos expansion by reanalysis using static condensation based on substructuring

This paper presents a new computational method for forward uncertainty quantification(UQ)analyses on large-scale structural systems in the presence of arbitrary and dependent random *** method consists of a generalized polynomial chaos expansion(GPCE)for statistical moment and reliability analyses associated with the stochastic output and a static reanalysis method to generate the input-output data *** the reanalysis,we employ substructuring for a structure to isolate its local regions that vary due to random *** allows for avoiding repeated computations of invariant substructures while generating the input-output data *** substructuring with static condensation further improves the computational efficiency of the reanalysis without losing ***,the GPCE with the static reanalysis method can achieve significant computational saving,thus mitigating the curse of dimensionality to some degree for UQ under high-dimensional *** numerical results obtained from a simple structure indicate that the proposed method for UQ produces accurate solutions more efficiently than the GPCE using full finite element analyses(FEAs).We also demonstrate the efficiency and.scalability of the proposed method by executing UQ for a large-scale wing-box structure under ten-dimensional(all-dependent)random inputs.

Ion heat transport in electron cyclotron resonance heated L-mode plasma on the T-10 tokamak

Anomalous ion heat transport is analyzed in the T-10 tokamak plasma heated with electron cyclotron resonance heating(ECRH) in second-harmonic extra-ordinary mode. Predictive modeling with empirical scaling for Ohmical heat conductivity shows that in ECRH plasmas the calculated ion temperature could be overestimated, so an increase of anomalous ion heat transport is required. To study this effect two scans are presented: over the EC resonance position and over the ECRH power. The EC resonance position varies from the high-field.side to the low-field.side by variation of the toroidal magnetic field. The scan over the heating power is presented with on-axis and mixed ECRH regimes. d.scharges with high anomalous ion heat transport are obtained in all considered regimes. In these d.scharges the power balance ion heat conductivity exceeds the neoclassical level by up to 10 times. The high ion heat transport regimes are d.stinguished by three parameters: the ratio Te/Ti, the normalized electron density gradient R/■, and the ion–ion collisionality νii~*. The combination of high Te/Ti, high νii~*, and R/■=6-10 results in values of normalized anomalous ion heat fluxes up to 10 times higher than in the low transport scenario.

Background:Pancreatic solid pseudopapillary tumors(sPTs)are rare clinical entity,with low malignancy and.still unclear *** account for less than 2%of exocrine pancreatic *** study aimed to perform a systematic review of the main clinical,surgical and oncological characteristics of pancreatic *** sources:MEdLINE/PubMed,Web of science and.scopus databases were systematically searched for the main clinical,surgical and oncological characteristics of pancreatic sPTs up to April 2021,in accordance with the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses(PRIsMA)*** endpoints were to analyze treatments and oncological ***:A total of 823 studies were recorded,86 studies underwent full-text reviews and 28 met inclusion ***,1384 patients underwent pancreatic *** age was 30 years and 1181 patients(85.3%)were *** most common clinical presentation was non-specific abdominal pain(52.6%of cases).Mean overall survival was 98.1%.Mean recurrence rate was 2.8%.Mean follow-up was 4.2 ***:Pancreatic sPTs are rare,and predominantly affect young women with unclear *** resection is the gold.standard of treatment achieving good oncological impact and a favorable prognosis in a yearly life-long follow-up.

Land use change and occupation have led to modifications in the environment causing loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services throughout the *** environments with high economic relevance,such as the ferruginous campo rupestre(rupestrian grassland known as Canga in Brazil),are even more susceptible to severe impacts due to their extreme habitat conditions and low *** determination of reference ecosystems based on the intrinsic characteristics of the ecosystem is essential for conservation as well as to the implementation of ecological *** proposed the reference ecosystem of the three main types of habitats of the ferruginous campo rupestre based on their floristic *** d.scribed the floristic composition of each habitat and evaluated the physicochemical properties of the soils and the relationship between plants and *** three habitats showed high diversity of plant species and many endemic species,such as Chamaecrista choriophylla,Cuphea pseudovaccinium,Lychnophora pinaster,and Vellozia *** d.stribution of vegetation was strongly related with the edaphic characteristics,with a set of species more adapted to high concentration of base saturation,fine sand,organic carbon,and iron,while another set of species succeeded in more acidic soils with higher s and.silt *** provide support for the contention that the ferruginous campo rupestre is a mosaic of different habitats shaped by intrinsic local *** to recognize the floristic composition of each particular habitat can lead to inappropriate restoration,increased habitat homogenization and increased loss of biodiversity and ecosystem *** study also advances the knowledge base for building the reference ecosystem for the different types of ferruginous campo rupestre habitats,as well as a key database for highlighting those species contribute most to community assembly in this diverse and threatened tropical mountain ecosystem.
