The aim of the present work was to present the outcomes of the patients with Y-chromosome microdeletions treated by intracytoplasmic sperm injection （ICSI）, either using fresh （TESE） or frozen-thawed （TESE-C） testicular sperm and ejaculated sperm （EJAC）. The originality of this work resides in the comparisons between the different types of Y-microdeletions （AZFa, AZFb, and AZFc） and treatments, with detailed demographic, stimulation, embryological, clinical, and newborn （NB） outcomes. Of 125 patients with Y-microdeletions, 33 patients presented severe oligozoospermia （18 performed ICSI with ejaculated sperm） and 92 secretory azoospermia （65 went for TESE with 40 having successful sperm retrieval and performed ICSI）. There were 51 TESE treatment cycles and 43 TESE-C treatment cycles, with a birth of 19 NB （2 in AZFa/TESE-C, 12 in AZFc/TESE, and 5 in AZFc/TESE-C）. Of the 29 EJAC cycles, there was a birth of 8 NB （in AZFc）. In TESE and EJAC cycles, there were no significant differences in embryological and clinical parameters. In TESE-C cycles, there was a significant lower oocyte maturity rate, embryo cleavage rate and mean number of embryos transferred in AZFb, and a higher mean number of oocytes and lower fertilization rate in AZFc. In conclusion, although patients with AZFc microdeletions presented a high testicular sperm recovery rate and acceptable clinical outcomes, cases with AZFa and AZFb microdeletions presented a poor prognosis. Due to the reported heredity of microdeletions, patients should be informed about the infertile consequences on NB and the possibility of using preimplantation genetic diagnosis for female sex selection.

The late-to post-collisional stage in orogenic systems is characterized by the coeval existence of bimodal potassic to ultrapotassic magmatic activity related to partial melting of an enriched lithospheric mantle together with crustal derived *** this paper,we present new whole rock geochemical analyses combined with zircon and titanite U–Pb and zircon Hf isotopic data from potassic to ultrapotassic rocks from six plutons that occur within the Archean Itacambira-Monte Azul block(BIMA),to discuss their petrogenesis and the tectonic implications for the São Francisco *** new U–Pb ages range from ca.2.06 Ga to 1.98 Ga and reveal long-lasting potassic magmatism within the BIMA,which is within the late-to-post-collisional stage of the São Francisco paleocontinent *** ultrapotassic rocks are compatible with a fluid-related metasomatized mantle source enriched by previous subduction events,whereas the potassic rocks are bimodal and have a transitional shoshonitic to A-type *** rocks have a hybrid nature,possible related to the mixing between the mafic potassic/ultrapotassic rocks and high temperature crustal melts of the Archean continental *** results also show an increase of within-plate signature towards the younger potassic *** participation of an important Archean crustal component in the genesis of these rocks is highlighted by the common and occasionally abundant occurrence of Archean inherited *** Hf isotopic record shows that most of the zircon inheritance has dominantly subchondriticεHf(t)values,which fits a crustal reworking derivation from a similar Eo-to Paleoarchean precursor ***,the presence of juvenile 2.36 Ga zircon inheritance in an ultrapotassic sample reveal the existence of a hidden reservoir that is somewhat similar to the described for the Mineiro Belt in southern São Francisco paleocontinent.

Colon capsule endoscopy:What we know and what we would like to know

Colonoscopy is usually perceived as an invasive and potentially painful procedure, being also affected by a small, but definite, risk of major complications (cardiopulmonary complications, perforation, hemorrhage) and even mortality. To improve both acceptability and safety, PillCam Colon Capsule Endoscopy (CCE) (Given Imaging Ltd, Yoqneam, Israel) has been developed. CCE represents a non-invasive technique that is able to explore the colon without sedation and air insufflation. The Second Generation of Colon Capsule Endoscopy (PillCam Colon 2) (CCE-2) was proven to be an accurate tool to detect colonic neoplastic lesions when used in average risk individuals. To date, the evidence supports the use of CCE-2 in case of colonoscopy failure, in patients unwilling to perform colonoscopy and when colonoscopy is contraindicated. Other potential applications, such as colorectal cancer screening or diagnostic surveillance of inflammatory bowel disease need to be clarified. In this paper, the current “state of the art”, potential application of CCE and future needs are evaluated.

Assessment of slow deformations and landslide modelling in the urban area through a multi-methodological approach

Slow-moving landslides are widespread in the Mediterranean area， causing damage to the exposed facilities and economic losses in many countries. The recognition of slow-moving landslides in urban areas is always a difficult task to deal with because the presence of buildings， infrastructures， and human activities usually conceals the morphological signs of these landslide activities. So， in the last decades， numerous researchers have shown new methodologies to deepen the studies of similar instability phenomena. The present research is based on an integrated approach to investigate the landslide boundaries， type of movement， failure surface depth， and vulnerability state of buildings in Rota Greca village (Calabria region， southern Italy) affected by a slow-moving landslide. For this purpose， multi-source data were acquired through geological and geomorphological surveys， recognition of landslide-induced damage on the built environment， subsurface investigations (e.g.， continuous drill boreholes， Standard Penetration Test， Rock Quality Designation index and inclinometer monitoring)， laboratory tests (direct shear tests on undisturbed samples)， geophysical survey， and InSAR-derived map of deformation rates. The complete integration of multi-source data allowed for the construction of reliable landslide modelling with relative geotechnical properties. In addition， the cross-comparison between surface deformation data by SAR images and severity damage level collected on the exposed buildings enabled to obtain the vulnerability map of the built area. In particular， the achieved goals highlighted two failure surfaces at about -13 and -25 m depth， causing a high vulnerability value for the buildings allocated in the central portion of the Rota Greca village. The knowledge acquired by the multi-approach can be used to manage and implement appropriate landslide risk mitigation strategies， providing helpful advice and best practices to state-run organisations and stakeholder

Globalized cultures,imaginaries,and economies are often matched to the standardization of building ***,solutions that are not tailored for a specific context tend to entail environmental,economic,and social *** human history,vernacular wisdom has produced interesting low-energy and climate-responsive architectures all around the globe:These can be seen as interesting examples in an era of global warming and overall uncertainty;at the same time,they represent accessible sustainable solutions in deprived areas of the world as well as in wealthier *** experience of participatory design and building process is here presented,carried on in a rural area of El Salvador,Central America.A sanitary facility for a school is designed and realized after the collectively desired recovery and improvement of one of the fruits of local vernacular wisdom in building design,i.e.,the adobe earth *** potentials and limits of such experience as well as of the used technology are reviewed in the perspective of affordable and ecologically sustainable housing and settlements in the area.

The effects of oral smokeless tobacco administration on endurance performance

Background： Smokeless tobacco is widely used by athletes to enhance performance. Nicotine is a central nervous system stimulant and acts on cardiocirculatory and metabolic systems, involving tissue blood flow and circulatory vasoreactivity. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the oral smokeless tobacco （Swedish snus （SS）） on the perception of fatigue and time to exhaustion （TTE） during moderate-intensity aerobic exercise. Methods： Fourteen healthy non-tobacco male users were recruited for a double-blind, controlled crossover design （SS vs. snus placebo （SP））. Subjects were tested for 3 sessions： experimental session 1 （Exp 1） consisted of an incremental test to determine the maximal aerobic power out-put （Wmax）, whereas Exp2 and Exp3 consisted of exercising at 65%Wmax until exhaustion in SS or SP conditions. During Exp2 and Exp3, muscle and cerebral oxygenation was assessed by means of near-infrared spectroscopy, and the rating of perceived exertion （RPE） was recorded. Results： Comparing SS with SP tests, significant differences （p 〈 0.05） were found in the values of cerebral （-3%） and muscular tissues oxygenation （-4%） in the first 30 min of exercise. The RPE values were not significantly different between the 2 conditions （SS vs. SP）. No significant difference was found in TTE （SS： 54.25 ± 21.84 min; SP： 50.01 ± 17.03 min）. Conclusion： This study showed that muscular and cerebral oxygenation increased significantly with snus administration during an endurance exercise until exhaustion, but this did not affect fatigue perception and TTE. Ten Years of the Central Italy Electromagnetic Network (CIEN) Continuous Monitoring

A test is being realised by means of a network of wide band electromagnetic detectors that continuously records the electric components of the electromagnetic field, ranging from a few of Hz to tens of kHz. The network has been operating in central Italy for more than ten years. The recorded signals from this network have been analysed in real time as well as their power spectrum contents. Time/frequency data have been saved for further analysis. The spectral contents have evidenced very distinct power spectrum signatures in ELF band that increase in intensity when strong seismic activity occurs near the stations, for example, at the time of Amatrice (M = 6) and Norcia (M = 6.5) earthquakes in 2016 when ten stations were operative, at the time of the Emilia (M = 6) earthquakes in 2012 when nine stations were operative, and at the time of the L’Aquila (M = 6.3) earthquakes in 2009 when only two stations were operative. Strong signals were also detected during the moderate Ancona (M = 5) earthquake in 2013 and by the recently installed Avigliano Umbro, Città di Castello and Gubbio stations in the Umbria region, during small seismic swarms (2 < M < 4) between 2013 and 2014. CIEN is presently composed of 16 stations and collect data from a multidisciplinary instrumentation.

Paleoproterozoic juvenile magmatism within the northeastern sector of the Sao Francisco paleocontinent:Insights from the shoshonitic high Ba-Sr Montezuma granitoids

New,integrated petrographic,mineral chemistry,whole rock geochemical,zircon and titanite UPb geochronology,and zircon Hf isotopic data from the Montezuma granitoids,as well as new geochemical results for its host rocks represented by the Corrego Tingui Complex,provides new insights into the late-to post-collisional evolution of the northeastern Sao Francisco paleocontinent.U-Pb zircon dates from the Montezuma granitoids spread along the Concordia between ca.2.2 Ga to 1.8 Ga and comprise distinct *** I have crystallization ages between ca.2.15 Ga and 2.05 Ga and are interpreted as inherited *** II zircon dates vary from 2.04 Ga to1.9 Ga and corresponds to the crystallization of the Montezuma granitoids,which were constrained at ca.2.03 Ga by the titanite U-Pb *** age zoning is common within the ca.1.8 Ga Group III zircon ages,being related to fluid isotopic re-setting during the Espinhaco rifiting ***εHf(t)analysis show dominantly positive values for both Group I(-4 to+9)andⅡ(-3 to+8)zircons and TDM2 model ages of 2.7-2.1 Ga and 2.5-1.95 Ga,***,the Montezuma granitoids are weakly peraluminous to metaluminous magnesian granitoids,enriched in LILES and LREE,with high to moderate Mg#and depleted in some of the *** lithochemical signature,added to the juvenile signature of both inherited and crystallized zircons,allowed its classification as a shoshonitic high Ba-Sr granitoid related to a late-to post-collisional lithosphere delamination followed by asthenospheric *** this scenario,the partial melting of the lithospheric mantle interacted with the roots of an accreted juvenile intra-oceanic arc,being these hybrid magma interpreted as the source of the Montezuma *** Corrego Tingui Complex host rocks are akin to a syn-to late-collisional volcanic arc granitoids originated from the partial melting of ancient crustal *** results presented in this study have revealed the occurrence of j

Characterization of a VLC system in real museum scenario using diffusive LED lighting of artworks

Visible light communication(VLC)is currently recognized as a relevant technology for a wealth of possible application *** classes of services can be designed in both outdoor and indoor environments,exploiting the directionality of the optical channel and the low attainable *** features allow VLC to offer both spatial localization of users and wireless communication by using widespread high-power LEDs as simultaneous illumination and information *** the indoor scenario,one of the most promising deployments is expected in museums,where digital data can be cast by the specific illumination system of each artwork and received by visitors placed *** would enable a full set of services,aiming,e.g.,at an immersive experience in the augmented reality approach or at real-time localization of *** this work,we characterize for the first time the performance of a photodiode-based VLC system in a real museum environment,performing an extensive measurement campaign on several masterpieces(wall,canvas,and wood paintings)in the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella in Florence,*** particular,we demonstrate the possibility of using indirect(diffused)illumination light to deliver specific information on each artwork to a *** characterize the quality of such non-line-of-sight VLC links by performing packet error rate measurements as a function of angle and distance from the artwork,and we measure the effective field of view(FoV)of our receiving stage,as well as the influence of side displacements of the receiver on the transmission quality,demonstrating that diffusive VLC links can also be used for efficient localization of users in front of each artwork in museum *** observed baud rates up to 28 kbaud and FoV values up to 60°for realistic distances up to 6 m,we believe our work could pave the way for future studies involving VLC in a wealth of indoor applications,beyond the cultural heritage sector.
