A new series of quinazolin-4（3H）-one derivatives containing a（1 3-diphenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl） core with substituents at the 2-position and aromatic or heteroaromatic substituents at the 3-position were synthesized using an L-proline catalyzed one-pot multi-component reaction *** the synthesized compounds were characterized and screened for their antimicrobial,antifungal and anti-tubercular activities.

In this study,kefir grains and kefir produced from contaminated grains were investigated in terms of food *** this aim,traditional kefir grains were collected from distinct parts of Turkey,and their pathogenicity was *** and non-typical colonies were isolated on Violet Red bile Agar and identified for the first time at species *** resistance and hemolytic activity of the isolates were also *** and pathogenic bacteria was found in 19 out of 30 kefir grains tested(63.33%).Although Hafnia paralvei was the predominant group,Klebsiella oxytoca,citrobacter freundii,Serratia liquefaciens,and Escherichia coli were also identified among the 27 strains as the pathogenic *** was found that the bacterial count of kefir produced from two kefir grains containing pathogenic bacteria was 8.44 log cFU/mL and 8.20 log cFU/mL at the end of the 10th *** isolates were sensitive to ciprofloxacin,nalidixic acid,meropenem,and ertapenem but resistant to ampicillin and ***,all strains were found to beβ-hemolytic in that *** a result,it was determined that traditionally produced kefir can be risky in terms of food safety due to contaminated kefir grains and this risk continues throughout consumption.

In recent years,recycled glass has been widely used as aggregate replacements in concrete. Owing to the aesthetic potential of the coloured recycled glass,this research aims to fully utilize this advantage for their higher end uses,such as architectural mortar. In this study,architectural white cement mortar was produced with a self consolidating method using recycled glass as the aggregate. An adequate amount of Metakaolin was incorporated into the mortar to mitigate the adverse effect of alkali-silica reaction. The results show that the self-compacting method is suitable to produce architectural mortar containing up to 100% recycled glass. Overall,the performance of all the architectural mortar mixtures in terms of both fresh and hardened properties was good.

A study was conducted on cambisols in Northern Germany to analyze the effect of fast growing trees （Salix and Populus spp.） used in agroforestry on soil chemical and physical properties and also on endo- and ectomycorrhizal colonization of the fine roots. Representative plots of three trials, Giilzow （GUL）, Vipperow （VIP） and Rostock （ROS）, were used to measure the topsoil inventories at the very beginning and after six （GUL）, seven （VIP） and ten （ROS） years of afforestation with fast growing trees. The effect on soil organic carbon, plant available nutrients, reaction, bulk density, porosity and water conditions was analyzed, Arable soils without tree coppice were used as controls. Additionally, the endoand ectomycorrhizal colonization of two Salix and two Populus clones were investigated at one site （GUL） in 2002. The amounts of organic carbon in the topsoil increased significantly （P 〈 0.01） presumably induced by leaf and root litter and also by the lack of tillage. The soil bulk density significantly decreased and the porosity of the soil increased significantly （both P 〈 0.01）. The proportion of medium pores in the soil also rose significantly （P 〈 0.05 and 0.01）. Generally, afforestation of arable soils improved soil water retention. Ectomycorrhizas dominated the mycorrhizal formation of the Salix and Populus clones, with the accumulation of organic matter in the topsoil suspected of supporting the ectomycorrhizal formation. Thus, agroforestry with Salix and Populus spp. conspicuously affected chemical and additionally physical properties of the top layer of cambisols within a period of six years.

Abstract At present, descriptions of cleantioides emarginata Kwon ＆ K/m, 1992 have been limited to the type locality of Pusan, In this study, we discovered this species in the changjiang （Yangtze） River estuary, china. This represents an extension of the known geographical range of c. emarginata. In addition, we present information of a colour pattern not previously described, along with details on the estuarine habitat of the species.

Superhydrophobic poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF) membrane incorporated with nanoparticles was applied in membrane distillation to recover water from phenolic rich solution containing surfactant. The membranes coated on woven support were fabricated using phase inversion with dual bath coagulation and post-modified using silane. The membranes incorporated with TiO_2, SiO_2, or a mixture of TiO_2-SiO_2 nanoparticles achieved the water contact angle higher than 160°. The addition of TiO_2-SiO_2 mixture into PVDF matrix further enhanced the hierarchical roughness of membrane. Hence, PVDF/TiO_2-SiO_2 membrane achieved the highest permeation flux and rejected 99.9% of gallic acid in the feed(100 g/L). PVDF/TiO_2-SiO_2 membrane also maintained a relative flux(J/J0) higher than0.9 after 8 h of operation. Even with the presence of surfactant in phenolic rich solution, PVDF/TiO_2-SiO_2 membrane was able to exhibit relative flux above 0.8. The significant changes on the hydrophobicity and chemical properties of PVDF/TiO_2-SiO_2 membrane due to fouling were not observed after 50 h of static adsorption test.

SiO2 glasses co-doped with Al3+ ions were prepared by a sol-gel method by holding 0.5% of ce3+ ions constant and varying the Al3+ ions *** stability,the structural,chemical and the optical properties of the samples were studied by using differential scanning calorimetric(DSc),thermo gravimetric analysis(TGA),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS),UV-vis spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy(PL).The DSc and TGA of samples depicted that the presence of dopant and co-dopant decreased the endothermic peak temperature and the yield *** images showed that the particles were in the nano-range and spherical in *** XRD showed that all the samples were *** UV absorption measurements indicated that the presence of Al3+ ions significantly reduced the SiO2 absorption band,increased the absorbance intensity of SiO2 and decreased the transmittance as compared to the presence of the ce3+ ions *** photoluminescence results displayed an optimum increase in luminescence intensity when the ratio of Al:ce was 10:1 and further increase in aluminum content quenched the luminous intensity.
