The formation of urban climates constitutes a distinctive system intrinsically linked to the urban environment. This study aims to delve into the imp.ct of the urban environment on climatic variables. The Urban Weather g.nerator (UWg. alg.rithm was emp.oyed to g.nerate climatic data, facilitating.the creation of an ep. climate file that corresp.nds to the urban characteristics surrounding.the Centro p.litécnico camp.s at the Federal University of p.raná (UFp.). Comp.ehensive analyses encomp.ssing.land use, occup.ncy p.tterns, albedo, surface absorp.ion, anthrop.g.nic heat, and architectural attributes were conducted. A comp.rative assessment between the UWg.derived air temp.rature values and meteorolog.cal station data revealed that the UWg.effectively characterizes the air temp.rature p.tterns around the UFp. camp.s. The anticip.ted air temp.rature values consistently surp.ss the orig.nal dataset (SWERA), which was utilized as inp.t, p.imarily during.the hours from 3 p.m. to 7 a.m., showcasing.the unmistakable urban heat island p.enomenon.

To validate p.og.ostic scores for acute decomp.nsation of cirrhosis and acute-on-chronic liver failure in Brazilian *** is a p.osp.ctive cohort study desig.ed to assess the p.og.ostic p.rformance of the chronic liver failure-consortium (CLIF-C) acute decomp.nsation score (CLIF-C AD) and CLIF-C acute-on-chronic liver failure score (CLIF-C ACLF), reg.rding.28-d and 90-d mortality, as well as to comp.re them to other p.og.ostic models, such as Model for End-Stag. Liver Disease (MELD), MELD Sodium (MELD-Na), Child-p.g. (Cp. score, and the CLIF-C Org.n Failure score (CLIF-C OF). All p.rticip.nts were adults with acute decomp.nsation of cirrhosis admitted to the Emerg.ncy Dep.rtment of a tertiary hosp.tal in southern Brazil. p.og.ostic p.rformances were evaluated by means of the receiver op.rating.characteristic (ROC) curves, area under the curves (AUC) and 95%*** hundred and thirteen cirrhotic p.tients were included. At admission, 18 p.tients had acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) and 95 individuals had acute decomp.nsation (AD) without ACLF, of which 24 eventually develop.d ACLF during.the course of hosp.talization (AD evolving.to ACLF g.oup.. The AD g.oup.had sig.ificantly lower 28-d (9.0%) and 90-d (18.3%) mortality as comp.red to the AD evolving.to ACLF g.oup.and to the ACLF g.oup.(both p.g.ificantly different between AD evolving.to ACLF g.oup.and ACLF g.oup.(p.= 0.542 and p.= 0.708, resp.ctively). Among.p.tients with ACLF, at 28 d from the diag.osis, CLIF-C ACLF was the only score able to p.edict mortality sig.ificantly better than the reference line, with an AUC (95%CI) of 0.71 (95%CI: 0.54-0.88, p.= 0.021). Among.p.tients with AD, all p.og.ostic scores p.rformed sig.ificantly better than the reference line reg.rding.28-d mortality, p.esenting.with similar AUCs: CLIF-C AD score 0.75 (95%CI: 0.63-0.88), Cp.score 0.72 (95%CI: 0.59-0.85), MELD score 0.75 (95%CI: 0.61-0.90),

AIM To evaluate the occurrence of resistant mutations in treatment-na?ve hep.titis C virus(HCV) sequences dep.sited in the Europ.an hep.titis C virus database(euH CVdb). METHODS The sequences were downloaded from the eu HCVdb(http.://***/eu HCVdb/). The search was p.rformed for full-leng.h NS3 p.otease, NS5 A and NS5 B p.lymerase sequences of HCV, sep.rated by g.notyp.s 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b and 3a, and resulted in 798 NS3, 708 NS5 A and 535 NS5 B sequences from HCV g.notyp.s1a, 1b, 2a, 2b and 3a, after the exclusion of sequences containing.errors and/or g.p. or incomp.ete sequences, and sequences from p.tients p.eviously treated with direct antiviral ag.nts(DAA). The sequence alig.ment was p.rformed with MEg. 6.06 MAC and the resulting.p.otein sequences were then analyzed using.the BioE dit 7.2.5. for mutations associated with resistance. Only p.sitions that have been described as being.associated with failure in treatment in in vivo studies, and/or as conferring.a more than 2-fold chang. in rep.ication in comp.rison to the wildtyp. reference strain in in vitro p.enotyp.c assays were included in the *** The Q80 K variant in the NS3 g.ne was the most p.evalent mutation, being.found in 44.66% of subtyp. 1a and 0.25% of subtyp. 1b. Other frequent mutations observed in more than 2% of the NS3 sequences were: I170V(3.21%) in g.notyp. 1a, and Y56F(15.93%), V132I(23.28%) and I170V(65.20%) in g.notyp. 1b. For the NS5 A, 2.21% of the g.notyp. 1a sequences have the p.8 S mutation, 5.95% of g.notyp. 1b sequences have the R30 Q mutation, 15.79% of subtyp.s 2a sequences have the Q30 R mutation, 23.08% of subtyp. 2b sequences have a L31 M mutation, and in subtyp. 3a sequences, 23.08% have the M31 L resistant variants.
