Influence of agriculture and aquaculture activities on the response of autotrophic picoplankton in Laguna Macapule, Gulf of California (Mexico)

Introduction:The lagoon is a component of coastal zones,whose populations of autotrophic picoplankton(APP)remain largely *** lagoons display high-nutrient productivity and additionally may also be subjected to anthropogenic *** study selected Laguna Macapule,located on the eastern shore in the mid-region of the Gulf of California,due to the fact that a drainage network servicing the surrounding agricultural region(>230,000 hectares under cultivation)directs irrigation runoff,shrimp farm effluents,and urban wastewater containing large quantities of nutrients to be discharged into this *** propose to identify the APP’s response to various types of environmental and anthropogenic influence in this highly impacted coastal ***:Two sites(separated by 2.7 km)were monitored from December 2007 to December ***,located at the entrance to Laguna Macapule(oceanic influence)and the other a discharge canal(eutrophic conditions)inside the lagoon at El Tortugó***:APP was the numerically dominant phytoplankton fraction(15×106 to 620×106 cells L−1)with coccoidal cyanobacteria as the dominant fraction throughout the *** levels were reached in spring-early autumn and they were the second largest contributor to *** of APP cells corresponds to the lagoon’s eutrophic *** numbers and a higher average of APP were recorded at the El Tortugón channel during the warm season(months with SST higher than 24°C).The general positive relationship of the APP’s annual cycle at both sites as well as a negative relationship with heterotrophic nanoflagellates(HNF)abundance,supports the idea that natural forcing,in particular sea surface temperature(SST)is the predominant influences on APP’s seasonal ***:Distinguishable significant differences in APP abundances and nutrients were recognizable between the two *** interplay of these variables contributed to lower densities of APP in winter and high de

Jet CAT P80 Thermal Analyses and Performance Assessment Using Different Fuels Types

The micro gas turbine propulsion systems represent a good choice for the unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs). The present work monitors the engine parameters, correlating them with other important engine instrumentation data. The aim of this research was to study the operation of the Jet CAT using various types of fuels under various operating conditions: normal acceleration and sudden acceleration. The measured parameters were monitored under different conditions:(A) Engine operation at two different ambient temperatures – outdoor at 0oC and inside at 19oC; and(b) Using 4 fuel types: kerosene, diesel fuel, kerosene with 5% gasoline and kerosene with 10% gasoline. The relevance of this work is given by the fact that a detailed analysis is performed for the idle regime. The paper will present the detailed test plan used and the most relevant charts with the obtained results for: start time, force, temperature before turbine, fuel flow, depending on micro turbo engine speed.

AIM:To investigate the small bowel of seronegative spondyloarthropathy(SpA) patients in order to ascertain the presence of mucosal ***:between January 2008 and June 2010,54 consecutive patients were enrolled and submitted to avideo capsule endoscopy(VCE) *** demographic data were taken,as well as the history of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug(NSAID) *** reading each VCE recording,a capsule endoscopy scoring index for small bowel mucosal inflammatory change(Lewis score) was *** analysis of the data was ***:The Lewis score for the whole cohort was *** was higher in the NSAID consumption subgroup(P = 0.036).The difference in Lewis score between NSAID users and non-users was reproduced for the first and second proximal tertiles of the small bowel,but not for its distal third(P values of 0.036,0.001 and 0.18,respectively).There was no statistical significant difference between the groups with regard to age or sex of the ***:The intestinal inflammatory involvement of SpA patients is more prominent in NSAID users for the proximal/mid small bowel,but not for its distal part.

Multi-planet extrasolar systems-detection and dynamics

20 years after the discovery of the first planets outside our solar system, the current exoplanetary population includes more than 700 confirmed planets around main sequence stars. Approximately 50% belong to multiple-planet systems in very diverse dynamical configurations, from two-planet hierarchical systems to multiple resonances that could only have been attained as the consequence of a smooth large- scale orbital migration. The first part of this paper reviews the main detection tech- niques employed for the detection and orbital characterization of multiple-planet sys- tems, from the （now） classical radial velocity （rV） method to the use of transit time variations （TTV） for the identification of additional planetary bodies orbiting the same star. In the second part we discuss the dynamical evolution of multi-planet systems due to their mutual gravitational interactions. We analyze possible modes of motion for hi- erarchical, secular or resonant configurations, and what stability criteria can be defined in each case. In some cases, the dynamics can be well approximated by simple ana- lytical expressions for the Hamiltonian function, while other configurations can only be studied with semi-analytical or numerical tools. In particular, we show how mean- motion resonances can generate complex structures in the phase space where different libration islands and circulation domains are separated by chaotic layers. In all cases we use real exoplanetary systems as working examples.

Positive interactions are defined as non-trophic interactions where at least one of the interacting species is benefited in terms of fitness and the other remains ***,the bidirectional feedbacks between species may be positive,neutral or ***,if facilitated species induce negative effects on their‘nurses’,the assumed definition of positive interactions could be *** We assessed if ecological interactions between cushions of Azorella madreporica and their facilitated species are ***,we tested if cover of facilitated species has any costs for cushion plants from an ecophysiological perspective,and if these costs increase with the amount of cover of facilitated *** addition,through pathway analysis and correlations,we assessed if cover and richness of facilitated species have a direct and/or indirect effect on the fitness of cushion *** Findings We found that facilitated plant species induced a significant cost for their nurses(cushion plants),and this cost increases with cover of the facilitated ***,the facilitated species exert a strong direct negative effect on the cushion’s fitness and a moderate indirect negative cost evident through the nutrient status and physiological performance of cushion *** thus contribute evidence that positive interactions between high mountain cushion plants of central Chile and their‘facilitated’species may be an artifact more than a fact,especially when bidirectional effects are considered;contrasting with the majority of studies that document only one side of the interaction.

A comparative study for the performance of encased granular columns

This paper describes a three-dimensional(3D) numerical analysis of a test embankment on geotextileencased columns(GECs), in comparison with two-dimensional(2D) axisymmetric and plane strain analyses. The 3D numerical analysis was performed considering a rectangular strip under the embankment centerline. The 2D analysis was also carried out using axisymmetric unit cell and plane strain *** results indicated that the adopted 3D strip model represented well the measured deformations and pore pressure evolution during embankment construction and post-contraction *** the unit cell model, both plane strain and 3D analyses could properly determine the settlement profile along the embankment base as well as the profile of the horizontal soil deformation beneath the embankment toes. The plane strain analysis, however, was not able to compute the geotextile ring force which might be simply calculated using the axisymmetric unit cell approach. The paper also showed that, due to horizontal boundary fixities applied to the embankment borders, the unit cell model clearly underestimated the tension developed in the basal geogrid.

Test-retest reliability of Functional Magnetic resonance Imaging Activation for a Vergence Eye Movement Task

Vergence eye movements are the inward and outward rotation of the eyes responsible for binocular *** studies have mapped and investigated the neural substrates of vergence,it is not well understood whether vergence eye movements evoke the blood oxygen level-dependent signal reliably in separate experimental *** test-retest reliability of stimulus-induced vergence eye movement tasks during a functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMrI)experiment is important for future randomized clinical trials(rCTs).In this study,we established region of interest(rOI)masks for the vergence neural ***-seven binocularly normal young adults participated in two functional imaging sessions measured on different days on the same 3 T Siemens *** fMrI experiments used a block design of sustained visual fixation and rest blocks interleaved between task blocks that stimulated eight or four vergence eye *** test-retest reliability of task-activation was assessed using the intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC),and that of spatial extent was assessed using the Dice *** activation during the vergence eye movement task of eight movements compared to rest was repeatable within the primary visual cortex(ICC=0.8),parietal eye fields(ICC=0.6),supplementary eye field(ICC=0.5),frontal eye fields(ICC=0.5),and oculomotor vermis(ICC=0.6).The results demonstrate significant test-retest reliability in the rOIs of the vergence neural substrates for functional activation magnitude and spatial extent using the stimulus protocol of a task block stimulating eight vergence eye movements compared to sustained *** rOIs can be used in future longitudinal rCTs to study patient populations with vergence dysfunctions.

The smart grid concept is key to the energy revolution that has been taking place in recent *** Grids have been present in energy research since their ***,the scarcity of data from different energy sources,hardware power,or co-simulation environments has hindered their *** advances in multi-agent-based systems,the possibility of simulating the behavior of different energy sources,combining real building consumption,and simulated data,storage batteries and vehicle charging points,has opened *** development has resulted in much research published using both simulated and physical *** these investigations show that the main problem is that the machine learning algorithms do not fully match the real behavior,it is complex to use them to replicate the different actions to be *** paper aims to combine the approach of behavior prediction with state-of-the-art techniques,such as deep learning and deep reinforcement learning,to simulate unknown or critical system scenarios.A very important element in smart grids is the possibility of maintaining consumption within specific ranges(flexibility).For this purpose,we have made use of Tensorflow libraries that predict energy consumption and deep reinforcement learning to select the optimal actions to be performed in our *** developed platform is flexible enough to include new technologies such as smart batteries,electric vehicles,etc.,and it is oriented to real-time operation,being applied in an on-going real project such as the European ebalance-plus project.
