Objectives:Pharyngocutaneous fistula(PCF)is the most common complication to follow total laryngectomy(TL)and is associated with increases in length of hospital stay and with a need for revision surgery or readmission,as well as with delays in return to oral *** who require salvageTL(STL)or primary(chemo)radiation therapy are at higher risk for developing *** to the quality‐of‐life burden of PCF on patients,limiting this occurrence is ***:We conducted a retrospective cohort study of patients undergoing STL with placement of Montgomery salivary bypass tube(MSBT)^(TM)for at least 2 weeks duration between 2013 and 2017 at a single *** patients all underwent free flap *** primary outcome of interest was development of *** outcomes included demographics,previous treatment,base of tongue(BOT)involvement,extent of defect,concurrent neck dissection(ND),and margin ***χ^(2) analysis was used to evaluate factors associated with ***:Forty‐four patients underwent STL with Montgomery tube placement and free flap *** developed PCF(18.2%).The average age was 61.6 years;36 patients were male(81.8%),whereas eight patients were female(18.2%).There was no association between PCF and previous chemoradiation versus radiation(15.8%vs.33.3%,P<0.30),BOT involvement versus not(11.1 vs.22.2%,P<0.38),circumferential versus partial defect(18.8%vs.17.9%,P<0.94),ND versus none(10%vs.25%,P<0.20),or margin ***:PCF complicated 18.2%of STL cases at our institution and was not associated with differences in primary treatment modality,presence of concomitant ND,extent of pharyngeal defect,BOT involvement,or positive frozen or permanent surgical margin.

Background:In the 2022-2023 global outbreak,the United States and state of Texas recorded a total of 31,277 and 3,085 confirmed monkeypox(Mpox)cases respectively as of November *** study aims to investigate the demographic characteristics and risk factors of Mpox outbreak in Houston and document the epidemiologic control measures implemented with their ***:Houston Health Department received reports of suspected Mpox cases via electronic case reports and laboratory reports from healthcare providers within *** were then investigated and reclassified as either positive or negative using DNA polymerase chain reaction *** the reported cases received between May 2022 and January 2023 were included in this study using convenient sampling *** statistics using frequency distribution was used to analyze the sociodemographic,clinical features and travel history of the cases.A two-sided Chi-squared test was used to determine association between Mpox test results and risk factors with significant level set at Pender male 1(0.1%),transgender female 3(0.4%).Age groups 30-39 years constituted 43.6%,18-29 years 27.4%,40-49 years 18.2%,50-59 years was 8%.Race distribution of positive cases was Whites 43.4%,African American 38.7%,Asian 1.4%.Risk factors with Pender,age groups 30-39 years and 40-49 years,travel history to Mpox endemic areas,recent sexual contact with known or suspected Mpox cases,human immunodeficiency virus *** as gay and bisexual were also statistically significant risk factors for Mpox inf

腐殖化过程是赤泥土壤化及堆场生态修复的重要环节。本研究采用腐殖质分级和高通量测序技术,探究了秸秆和磷石膏联用对赤泥腐殖质组分和微生物群落的影响。结果表明,秸秆-磷石膏联用显著增加赤泥胡敏酸和富里酸含量,提高微生物群落多样性和丰富度,促进赤泥腐殖化过程。施用秸秆后,赤泥中葡萄糖苷酶、纤维素水解酶、多酚氧化酶和过氧化物酶分别升高7.15~8.76倍、5.64~7.12倍、2.69~4.57倍和2.59~4.24倍,显著增加Devosiaceae、Rhizobiaceae、Flavobacteriaceae、Caulobacteraceae和Cellvibrionaceae等具有纤维素降解和固氮功能微生物类群相对丰度,提高微生物群落稳定性。研究结果为外源生物质促进腐殖质累积、驱动赤泥成土进程提供科学依据。

Spontaneous Tumor Lysis Syndrome (STLS) is a rare oncologic condition caused by the breakdown of neoplastic tissue in the absence of traditional anti-tumor therapy. It is postulated that cancers with rapidly dividing cells lead to increased cell turnover which exceeds the kidneys’ ability to adequately filtrate by-products of cellular breakdown (i.e., phosphate, potassium, anduric acid), leading to end organ damage. It has been reported in the past that kidney failure is a sequelae of Tumor Lysis Syndrome (TLS), but there have been no reports that demonstrate acute kidney injury (AKI) preceding TLS. The case presented here demonstrates TLS in a patient with no formal cancer diagnosis, who had received no chemotherapy or radiation that was precipitated by an iatrogenic AKI with chlorthalidone and ibuprofen. This unusual pattern of AKI preceding STLS may provide insight into the pathophysiology of the condition and could possibly lead to greater understanding of this phenomenon.

Online monitoring of chemical reactions by using analytical chemistry tools is a powerful way to maximize control over these *** this paper,we demonstrate the use of molecular rotational resonance,an emerging and extraordinarily selective spectroscopic technique,to perform automated reaction monitoring *** interface using a six-port valve with a calibrated sample loop,coupled to a temperature controlled inlet for analyte volatilization,was developed and *** reactions were chosen for initial characterization:an amine-aldehyde condensation reaction to form an imine product and an isotopic exchange reaction of aβ-ketoester with keto-enol *** spectrometer was able to provide kinetic information about the reaction and determine reaction *** the future,this system can be extended to detect and quantify impurities and characterize reaction selectivity,in addition to the reaction progress.

Background:Thinning is a commonly used treatment in forest management which affects the tree root *** effects of thinning on element concentrations and seasonal change of roots were evaluated in adjacent oak(Quercus frainetto Ten.)and hornbeam(Carpinus betulus L.)stands according to the different root diameter ***:Two replicated control and thinning plots(50m×50 m)were set for each species(hornbeam and oak).Thinning treatments(November 2010)reduced 50%of the basal area in both oak and hornbeam *** were assessed by seasonal collection over 2 years(from October 2010 to October 2012).The roots were then sorted into diameter classes of 0–2mm(fine roots),2–5mm(small roots)and>5mm(coarse roots).C,N,P,K,Ca,Na,Mg,S,Mn,Fe,Al,Zn,Pb,Ni,Cu and Cd were ***:Except coarse roots,the highest root biomasses were determined in April-2011 in all ***-root biomass in oak was found significantly higher in control *** contrast to the oak,the fine-root biomass in the thinned hornbeam plots was higher than in the *** small-root biomass did not significantly differ between the thinned and the control plots in both oak and hornbeam ***,the coarse-root biomass showed significant differences between the control(1989 g∙m^(−2))and thinned plots(1060 g∙m^(−2))in oak,while no difference was detected in *** concentrations of C,Al,Pb,Cd,Ni,Zn,Mn,Na,K,Mg and P in the fine roots of oak were significantly higher in the thinned ***,the concentration of Pb,Cd and Fe in the fine roots was significantly higher in the thinned plots of *** differences were observed between the species for all elements in the fine roots except for C,N and *** particular,elements in the fine roots tended to increase in July in the *** the hornbeam,all element concentrations in the fine roots(except C,N,and S)in the thinned plots showed a tendency to increase in *** concentrations of Pb,Ni,Al,Fe,Cu,Ca,Na,K,Mg and

Arthropod assemblages and decomposition rates were compared in the litter of pure and mixed Quercus(Quercus petraea L.)and Fagus(Fagus orientalis L.)*** was sampled on a monthly basis for 1 year and stored in litterbags of different mesh *** experimental objective was to test the effect of mesh size on litter decomposition,decomposition rates of litter,and diversity of the invertebrate fauna between the two types of *** rates were measured by filling three fiber litterbags of different mesh sizes with pure Quercus litter(3 g)left in the pure Quercus stand,and litterbags with Fagus litter(3 g)were left in the pure Fagus *** litter samples were prepared by mixing of equal amounts of each litter in the same litterbag and leaving them in the mixed *** residual mass of litter from the pure Quercus stand was significantly lower in fine-and coarse-mesh bags than in the medium-mesh bags in pure the Fagus *** and nitrogen levels in the pure Quercus litter were significantly different among the mesh sizes at the end of the incubation *** from 27 taxa were collected from pitfall traps every *** relative numbers differed significantly between the pure and mixed-stand litter ***-dwelling Isotomidae(Collembola)and Mesostigmata(Acarina),and soil-dwelling Mesostigmata were the most numerous in the mixed *** is significant that the abundance of macroarthropods contributed to the mass loss of litter in both the medium and coarse mesh sizes in the mixed stand,but did not significantly affect the mass of litter in the pure *** the mixed stand,there was a negative correlation between litter mass loss and total number of microarthropods in all mesh ***-stand litter decomposed more slowly than pure-stand litter.

Histone acetylation and deacetylation are directly connected with transcriptional activation and silencing in eukaryotes. Gene families for enzymes that accomplish these histone modifications show surprising complexity in domain organization, tissue-specific expression, and function. This review is focused on the family of histone deacetylases （HDACs） that remove the acetyl group from core histone tails, resulting in a ＂closed＂ chromatin and transcriptional repression. In Arabidopsis, 18 HDAC genes are divided into three different types - RPD3-1ike, HD-tuin and sirtuin - with two or more members in each type. The structural feature of each HDAC class, the expression profile of each HDAC gene during development and functional insights of important family members are summarized here. It is clear that HDACs are an important class of global transcriptional regulators that play crucial roles in plant development, defense, and adaptation.

Spirulina is a popular herbal food that has a preventive effect on *** the study,it aimed to evaluate the effects of different doses of Spirulina platensis(Arthrospira platensis)on the morphological properties of the duodenum of rats,and to assign the effect of Spirulina on the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA)in the rat duodenum,and thereby to observe the effects on intestinal health.30 male Wistar albino rats were divided into 3 groups for 45 *** first group was received the basal diet;the second group was given 500 mg/kg Spirulina daily by oral gavage;the third group was given 1000 mg/kg Spirulina *** duodenum segments were taken at the end of the trial and processed for histological *** the total mucosa,villus height and villus/cript ratio were found higher in high dose Spirulina,the lower cript depth was detected in same group compared to control and low dose group.A significant increase was observed at high dose compared to the control and low dose group in terms of PCNA expression intensity and proliferation *** suggest that high dose of Spirulina may support the duodenal growth,and thereby intestinal health.
