Optimization of Tin-Doped Hybrid Perovskite Solar Cells

Perovskites are a category of materials with a unique crystal structure that allows them to absorb sunlight efficiently. This efficiency is particularly high in the case of CH3NH3Pb1-xSnxI3 mixed perovskites. The combination of lead (Pb) and tin (Sn) in this matrix provides a broad spectrum of sunlight absorption, enabling the generation of a larger voltage and, subsequently, increased power. The primary objective in solar cell development is to maximize the conversion of sunlight into electricity. Mixed perovskites like CH3NH3Pb1-xSnxI3 have demonstrated significant potential in this regard. Their tunable bandgap, courtesy of varying the Pb: Sn ratio, allows for the optimization of sunlight absorption. The result is solar cells that surpass many conventional counterparts in terms of energy efficiency. Another significant advantage of these mixed perovskite solar cells is their cost-effectiveness. They can be manufactured using solution-based processes, which are less expensive than the high-vacuum methods required for traditional silicon solar cells. While the prospects for mixed perovskite solar cells are undeniably promising, there are concerns about the toxicity of lead, a key component of these cells. Lead is known to have harmful effects on the environment and health. The aim of our work is to reduce or eliminate lead toxicity in the perovskite cell while maintaining its efficiency. Thus, in a theoretical and experimental approach, we obtained following efficiencies of samples: CH3NH3PbI3 (22.49%) CH3NH3Pb0.75Sn0.25I3 (22.72%), CH3NH3Pb0.5Sn0.5I3 (23.00%) CH3NH3Pb0.25Sn0.75I3 (22.61%), CH3NH3SnI3 (22.38%). Acute Appendicities in the Reference Health Center of Municipality II of Bamako District

This was a prospective study from January 2019 to December 2019 in the reference health center of municipality II of the Bamako district. During this period, we operated on 73 patients for acute appendicitis, including 51 men and 22 women, for a sex ratio of 1.7. The average age was 25.5 with extremes of 1 and 40 years. Abdominal pain was the main reason for consultation. The physical signs were dominated by the positivity of the Blumberg sign in 97.3% of the cases, the defense of the right iliac fossa in 79.5%, and the Rovsing sign in 61.6% of the cases. This physical examination made it possible to make the diagnosis in the majority of cases. In the face of some doubtful cases, we requested an abdominal ultrasound. Locoregional anesthesia was the most used anesthesia technique at 72.6%. The classic anterograde appendectomy with stump burial by Mac Burney was the most commonly used technique, respectively. The postoperative consequences were straightforward in 87.6%. Anatomopathology examination was performed on 69 surgical specimens and 4 appendectomy specimens were not subjected to an anatomo-pathological examination. Phlegmonous appendicitis was the most common at 63% of cases. Appendicitis remains the most common surgical emergency in a community setting. The early diagnosis and the speed of treatment guarantee improvements in the prognosis. The treatment is mainly surgical.

Comparative Study of Lead-Free Perovskite Solar Cells Using Different Hole Transporter Materials

In recent years, there has been an unprecedented rise in the performance of metal halide perovskite solar cells. The lead-free perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have drawn much research interest due to the Pb toxicity of the lead halide perovskite. CH3NH3SnI3 is a viable alternative to CH3NH3PbX3. In this work,?we designed a tin-based perovskite simulated model with the novel architecture of (TCO)/buffer (TiO2)/absorber (Perovskite)/hole transport material (HTM) and analyzed using the solar cell capacitance simulator (SCAPS-1D), which is well adapted to study the photovoltaic architectures. In the paper, we studied the influences of perovskite thickness and the doping concentration on the solar cell performance through theoretical analysis and device simulation. The results are indicating that the lead-free CH3NH3SnI3 is having the greatpotential to be an absorber layer with suitable inorganic hole transport materials?like CuI (PCE: 23.25%), Cu2O (PCE: 19.17%), organic hole transport materials?like spiro-OMETAD (PCE: 23.76%) and PTAA (PCE: 23.74%) to achieve high?efficiency. This simulation model will become a good guide for the fabrication?of high efficiency tin-based perovskite solar. The results show that the lead-free CH3NH3SnI3 is a potential environmentally friendly solar cells with high efficiency.

An Application of Machine Learning Methods to Detect Mango Varieties

The mango, a fruit of immense economic and dietary significance in numerous tropical and subtropical regions, plays a pivotal role in our agricultural landscape. Accurate identification is not just a necessity, but a crucial step for effective classification, sorting, and marketing. This study delves into the potential of machine learning for this task, comparing the performance of four models: MobileNetV2, Xception, VGG16, and ResNet50V2. These models were trained on a dataset of annotated mango images, and their performance was evaluated using precision, accuracy, F1 score, and recall, which are standard metrics for image classification. The Xception model, with its exceptional performance, outshone the other models on all performance indicators. It achieved a staggering accuracy of 99.47%, an F1 score of 99.43%, and a recall of 99.43%, showcasing its remarkable ability to accurately identify mango varieties. MobileNetV2 followed closely with performances of 98.95% accuracy, 98.85% F1 score, and 98.86% recall. ResNet50V2 also delivered satisfactory results with 97.39% accuracy, 97.08% F1 score, and 97.17% recall. VGG16, however, was the least effective, with a precision rate of 83.25%, an F1 score of 83.25%, and a recall of 85.47%. These results confirm the superiority of the Xception model in detecting mango varieties. Its advanced architecture allows it to capture more distinguishing features of mango images, leading to greater precision and reliability. Xception’s robustness in identifying true positives is another advantage, minimizing false positives and contributing to more accurate classification. This study highlights the promising potential of machine learning, particularly the Xception model, for accurately identifying mango varieties.

Novel Mannich Bases of Benzimidazole Derivatives: An Antibacterial Study of Environmental Bacterial Strains

A previous study was conducted on the synthesis and antibacterial evaluation of Mannich bases of 2-(thioalkyl)-1H-methylbenzimidazole derivatives. The results of this study showed that certain 2-(thioalkyl)-1H-methylbenzimidazole and 2-(thioalkyl)-methyl-1-(piperidin-1-ylmethyl)benzimidazole derivatives possess antibacterial activities against clinical strains, such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia (Gram-negative bacteria), Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Gram-positive bacteria). Following these favorable results, we extended the antibacterial evaluation of this series of molecules to environmental strains. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of the methyl-piperidine group fixed at position-1 of this new series of benzimidazoles on the antibacterial activity of environmental strains. In addition, we first evaluated the antibacterial activity of four 2-(thioalkyl)methylbenzimidazole derivatives and then that of five 2-(thioalkyl)-methyl-1-(piperidin-1-ylmethyl) benzimidazole derivatives. This study allowed us to show that compounds 1d and 1e could inhibit bacterial growth in vitro of the Enterobacteria P1 strain with inhibition diameters of 17.3 ± 0.6 mm and 10 ± 0.0 mm, respectively. However, addition of methyl-piperidinyl in this series showed that five (5) of 2-(thioalkyl)-methyl-1-(piperidin-1-ylmethyl) benzimidazole derivatives had an inhibitory effect on the in vitro growth of bacterial strains used except on Enterobacteria P2 with inhibition diameters between 10.0 ± 0.8 mm and 27.9 ± 1.4 mm. The introduction of the methyl-piperidinyl group at the 1-position of 2-(thioalkyl)-1H-methylbenzimidazole derivatives greatly improved the antibacterial activity against environmental bacteria such as Escherichia coli A1, A2, A3, and A4 and two Enterobacteria P1.

Digestive Surgical Emergencies at the Commune II Reference Health Centre in the District of Bamako

We conducted a prospective descriptive study from January 1 to December 31, 2018 with the objectives of determining the frequency of digestive surgical emergencies, describing the clinical and para-clinical aspects of the management of digestive surgical emergencies, evaluating the therapeutic aspect of digestive surgical emergencies and analysing the post-operative follow-up of patients operated on in emergencies. We counted 120 patients operated on for digestive surgical emergencies, which corresponds to 5.80% of all consultations and 44.80% of all surgical interventions. The male sex was the most represented with a ratio of 1.80. The average age was 27.5 years. The majority of patients were from Bamako. Abdominal pain was the reason for consultation in 80% of cases. The diagnosis was essentially clinical and paraclinical in doubtful cases. These included ultrasound, unprepared abdomen and sometimes abdominal CT scans. Acute appendicitis was the most common pathology with 42.5%. General anaesthesia and spinal anaesthesia were used with 50% each. The majority of patients were operated on between 30 minutes and 12 hours after their admission to the department (71.7%). Acute peritonitis accounted for 67% of deaths from sepsis. The surgical technique was decided according to the pathology and the surgeon’s choice. The postoperative course was simple in the majority of cases. The prognosis is good when the management is early. The treatment is medical-surgical.

Artificial Induction of Labor with Misoprostol: Maternal and Fetal Prognosis at the Referral Health Center of Commune I of the District of Bamako

Artificial induction of labor (AIL) is the set of techniques intended to induce childbirth in order to reduce maternal-fetal mortality. The aim of this paper was to study the maternal and fetal prognosis after the artificial induction of labor with misoprostol. It was a descriptive prospective study conducted from September 1, 2018 to February 28, 2019 at the maternity unit of the Referral Health Center (RHC) in commune I of Bamako. It was about any pregnant woman at term who had received misoprostol as part of the artificial induction of labor. 102 cases of artificial induction with misoprostol 200 μg were collected out of 3641 deliveries, or a frequency of 2.8%. The age group 28 - 32 years accounted for 56.86% with an average age of 28.8 years. Multiparous represented 54.90% of the number. The history of diabetes and hypertension involved 37.25% of the pregnant women. The main indication was premature rupture of membranes (PRM) (40.2%). Induction was performed between the 37th and 41st week of amenorrhea (69.6%). The trigger index according to BISHOP was greater than 7 (50.98%). Induction was done only with 3/4 of misoprostol tablet 200 μg (43.14%). The average labor time was 7 hours (89.22%). The vaginal birth concerned 92.16% of pregnant women. An APGAR10 was noted in 97.85% of newborns after 05 minutes. AIL with misoprostol was practiced at the Center. The main indication was the premature rupture of the membranes. It improves the maternal and fetal prognosis.

Role of Laparoscopic Surgery in the Management of Female Infertility at the Department of Gynecology of Hôpital du Mali

Infertility is a socio-cultural drama in Africa, especially in Mali and remains difficult for couples to overcome. Laparoscopy, also called minimally invasive surgery or keyhole surgery, is an operative technique that permits to explore the pelvis and perform an appropriate therapeutic procedure. The objective of our work was to assess the role of laparoscopic surgery in the treatment of female infertility at Hopital du Mali. It was a retrospective descriptive study that was conducted over a period of 5 years (January 2013 to December 2018). Any patients followed for infertility and who underwent laparoscopic surgery in the gynecology department over a period of two (2) years were included. The outcome of laparoscopic surgery was evaluated in terms of conception of pregnancy. We had collected 103 infertile patients out of 2984, with a frequency of 3.45%. The mean age of our patients was 30.2 years. Housewives and out-of-school women accounted for 68.93% and 54.37% respectively. Nulligravida represented 41.75%. Regarding infertility, it was primary in 41.75% and secondary in 58.25%, with an average duration of 6.2 years. Systematic chlamydial serology was positive in 62.14% of our patients. Hysterosalpingography (HSG) revealed bilateral tubal obstruction in 53.33% of cases. Laparoscopy found tubal adhesions in 97.80% of cases. Adhesiolysis was the main procedure performed with 84.47% bilateral tubal patency achieved in the methylene blue test. Among our patients who had contracted a pregnancy (22.99%), 85% had carried their pregnancies to term. Tubal damage was the main cause of infertility. Adhesiolysis remains the main laparoscopic procedure for treatment.

The Impact of Jams on the Vending Robot

This study aims to identify the causes of sensor jams and its impact on the operation of vending machines. The vending machine is a machine that automatically dispenses products such as drinks, tickets, sandwiches and biscuits, by inserting change or credit card into the machine. This technological feat is due to the advent of sensors. A sensor is a part of the measurement chain, it receives the quantity to be measured and provides information directly linked to this quantity. However, these vending robots are faced with malfunctions linked to sensor jams. The identification of the jam phenomenon was possible thanks to the inspection and monitoring of the various sensors installed on the vending robot. And Cadence software was used to model, control and locate the jammed sensor(s). The various tests were carried out by setting the robot in motion to better understand the causes of the phenomenon. The jam is therefore the phenomenon which triggers the sensors permanently, which causes the automatic vending robot to stop functioning. And this jam was due to the presence of water droplets on the sensor or dirt. This presence of water droplets on the sensor is linked to an increase in temperature. Controlling the temperature and locating the jammed sensor has made it possible to considerably reduce jamming and its harmful effects on the vending machine robot.

Enteropathica Acrodermatitis Complicated by Necrotising Fasciitis in an Infant Admitted to the Paediatric Emergency Department of the Gabriel Touré University Hospital

Acrodermatitis enteropathica is a rare autosomal recessive genetic disorder characterised by periorificial dermatitis, alopecia and diarrhoea. It is caused by a mutation in the gene that codes for a membrane protein that binds zinc. We report a case in a 7-month-old girl, admitted with altered general condition and scaly, pustular erythematous lesions, initially located in the occipital and cervical regions, and secondarily inguinal and on the knees. Management and outcome in this patient? Genetic assay was not available to confirm this rare genetic disease. A delay in establishing the diagnosis and a disastrous outcome did not save the patient despite the administration of zinc.
