A large number of magnetic nanomaterials have been studied for their hyperthermic potential, such as iron oxide based materials. These are embedded in different matrices to improve their properties. In this paper magnetite was synthesized by the coprecipitation method and an activated carbon/magnetite composite was obtained by mechanosynthesis (400 rpm, 3 h). The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), IR-FT spectroscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Furthermore, composite heating curves as well as hemolysis tests were performed. The composite showed a superparamagnetic behavior due to its low coercivity index (8.92 Oe) and a high saturation magnetization (40.12 emu/g). SEM images showed that the magnetite was observed on the surface of activated carbon and also the IR-FT spectra indicated that oxygenated groups on the activated carbon surface were responsible for the anchoring of magnetite in the surface, with particle sizes between 9 and 14 nm. heating results indicated that a composite mass of 18 mg reach a temperature of 45.6°C in a low frequency magnetic field (10.2 kA and 200 khz). hemolysis tests indicated that the composite is a non-hemolytic material (4.7% hemolysis). These results demonstrate that the material can be used in magnetic hyperthermia techniques for cancer treatment.

The degree of adaptability and phytoremediation potential of the plant species, Zacate Garrapata, Zacate Banderita, Chivatillo, Oregano, Chamizo and Sotol were evaluated on different substrates (S) composed of tailing (JM) and agricultural land (TA) in different proportions in mass: S1 = 100% TA, S2 = 100% JM, S3 = 50% TA and 50 % JM, S4 = 25% JM and 75% TA, S5 = 75% JM and 25% TA. With the combination of species and substrates, 30 treatments were generated. The heavy metals evaluated were Pb, As, Cu. Fe, Cr and Zn, in root, leaf and stem. The results showed significant statistical differences (p h the Sotol and Zacate Garrapata species being the ones with the highest degree of adaptability and accumulation of heavy metals in interaction with S3. These two species can be used in the remediation of open pit tailing dam.

Stoichiometric mixtures of FeO and Y2O3 were milled and heat treated to obtain yttrium iron garnet, Y3Fe5O12. Two types of heating systems were used: one, a spark plasma sintering machine and the second, an electrical oven. The magnetic properties of the resulting specimens have been analyzed and discussed as a function of the grain size and the particles’ morphology. The partial formation of garnet and orthoferrite phases was revealed on the obtained powder through microstructural analyses after 9 h of ball milling. The milled powders were transformed into the orthoferrite phase after the SPS-treatment at 700°C and 900°C. Magnetic-saturation studies revealed magnetic responses up to 12.7 emu/g for specimens SPS-treated at 700°C, whereas 2.1 emu/g for samples SPS-treated at 900°C. Conventionally treated specimens at 700°C developed 0.36 emu/g of magnetization, while 0.93 emu/g was registered for those treated at 900°C.

AIM: To assess whether the use of fibrin sealantshortens the closure time of postoperative enterocutaneous fistulas (ECFs). METhODS: The prospective case-control study included 70 patients with postoperative ECFs with an output of 2 cm and without any local complication. They were divided into study (n = 23) and control groups (n = 47). Esophageal, gastric and colocutaneous fistulas were monitored under endoscopic visualization, which also allowed fibrin glue application directly through the external hole. Outcome variables included closure time, time to resume oral feeding and morbidity related to nutritional support. RESULTS: There were no differences in mean age, fistula output, and follow-up. Closure-time for all patients of the study group was 12.5 ± 14.2 d and 32.5 ± 17.9 d for the control group (P h colonic fistulas, complete closure occurred 23.5 ± 19.5 d after the first application of fibrin glue, and spontaneous closure was observed after 36.2 ± 22.8 d in the control group (P = 0.36). Recurrences were observed in 2 patients because of residual disease. One patient of each group died during follow-up as a consequence of septic complications related to parenteral nutrition. CONCLUSION: Closure time was significantly reduced with the use of fibrin sealant, and oral feeding was resumed faster. We suggest the use of fibrin sealant for the management of stable enterocutaneous fistulas.

Yttrium iron garnet, Y3Fe5O12 (YIG) powders were synthesized by mechanochemical processing (MCP) from different iron sources (FeO, Fe2O3 and Fe3O4) mixed with Y2O3, followed by a heat treatment. The aim of this work is to demonstrate that MCP followed by annealing at very low temperatures (as compared with the classic solid state reaction) can induce the formation of nanostructured YIG. The effect of iron source on final structure was also studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the synthesized powders. The precursors mixed in a stoichiometric ratio to obtain YIG were milled at room temperature in a shaker mixer mill with a ball:powder weight ratio of 10:1. A partial synthesis of YIG was achieved after 9 h of milling time by using the three sources of iron;however, a significant fraction of the product was the perovskite YFeO3. The largest yield of YIG was obtained by using FeO. In all cases a single garnet phase could only be completely obtained after an annealing process at 900?C, around 400?C lower than the typical temperatures to prepare the material by solid state reaction. An analysis of the microstrain and lattice parameters associated with peak displacements is discussed.

地震震级预测是近几十年来广泛研究的极具挑战性的问题,在文献中可以找到统计、地球物理和机器学习等研究方法,但并没有得出令人特别满意的结果。近年来,强大的大数据分析计算技术应运而生,使得海量数据分析成为可能。新方法利用了云体系等物理资源。美国加利福尼亚州是世界上地震活动最活跃的地区之一,有许多可用数据。在本项工作中,为了预测未来7天内的地震震级,在大数据(使用1GB目录)情景下,探索几种回归算法与集成学习相结合的方法。使用Apache Spark框架、R语言的h2O库和亚马逊(Amazon)云基础设施,得到了极有希望的结果。

Effect of monovalent/divalent ions and SiO2-based nanocomposite dosage on thermochemical stability of hPAM polymeric solutions

This study evaluated the effect of monovalent and divalent ions and the dosage of a SiO2-based nanocomposite on the thermochemical stability of hPAM polymeric solution. Chelating amine-functionalized NPs（AFNPs） were used to enhance the thermochemical stability of hPAM based on capturing monovalent/divalent ions after seven days at 70°C. Different polymer solutions prepared with calcium chloride dihydrate（CaCl2·2h2O） at 2000 mg/L and sodium chloride（NaCl） at 10000 mg/L, and two different dosages of hPAM（1000 and 2000 mg/L） were assessed in the presence and absence of AFNPs at dosages of 200, 500 and 1000 mg/L. The nanocomposite was characterized by N2adsorption, Fourier-transformed infrared spectrophotometry（FTIR）, thermogravimetric analysis（TGA）, dynamic Light Scattering（DLS）,and Zeta potential（ZP）. Stability tests over time confirmed the positive effect of nanocomposite on increasing the thermochemical stability of polymer solutions. Results revealed that adding 0, 200, and 500 mg/L of nanocomposite to the polymeric solution at 1000 mg/L of hPAM, 10000 mg/L of NaCl, and 2000 mg/L of CaCl2·2h2O led to the viscosity reductions of 73.5%, 18%, and less than 1% after 7 days（70°C）, respectively. Nanocomposite at 200 mg/L reduces the polymer degradation in the presence of the two salts evaluated separately, i.e., 20% for 10000 mg/L of NaCl and 15% for 2000 mg/L of CaCl2·2h2O. The adsorption tests on AFNPs and SiO2NPs concluded that AFNPs had higher adsorption of cations in comparison to SiO2NPs and that greater adsorption of cations is related to a reduction in polymer degradation.
